Since the last version of firefox has been downloaded to my computer automatically, I'm not able to select an as before search engine.
I can't select the google search engine. The only one I have is ask.com, and I don't like it at all. Please change this.

You can try to update Firefox and create a new profile.
When you refresh/Reset Firefox then created a new profile and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, data form) are automatically imported.
The current profile folder will be moved to "Old data Firefox" folder on the desktop.
Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, Pref.) that you have made are lost and must be redone.

I have a Mac G5 with OS 11.4.11. In order for me to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox, I have to install a new system. If I install a new system, I need to install new programs. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive and other CS programs, PowerPoint, QuarkXpress, and many others. I can't afford to upgrade. I like good Firefox but what I am, I'm supposed to do?

When the latest version of Firefox has been installed it gave me a message that the McAfee software was not compatible and so I have more protection against viruses. She added that when it became compatible I would be informed. I cannot afford to be without my virus protection and want to revert to an earlier version of Firefox.
I hope that the problem is that Firefox 5 is not compatible with some of the additional modules of McAfee. It will be rather worrying if she has a problem with McAfee security programs themselves. Please specify exactly what software and the version that you have problems with.
There are problems with McAfee Site Advisor /questions/839953 #answer - 205178 known but we hope McAfee that will resolve in a few weeks.

I've upgraded to the latest version of Firefox, but I always get a message on my home page that says "you are not on the latest version of Firefox. Update today to get the best of the Web! »
You can see this message under the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old default Firefox homepage. It seems that this page is no longer maintained by Google. You seem to have the latest version of Firefox.
If you want as the Google search page as homepage, change your homepage to Subject: House (a new version of the old homepage Google/Firefox update is now integrated into Firefox).

I have to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox?
Do I lot to the latest version of Firefox? I get a message that says that the version I use is not secure. See the troubleshooting information. I already asked this question, but got this message: thank you! Your question will appear on the site as soon as you confirm your email address. You should receive an email shortly with a link to confirm. This is the link I was taken in. Thanks for your help!
Yes, you really need to upgrade to the latest version if you want safety last corrections to be applied. Now, more secure versions (supported by Mozilla) are 6.0.2 and 3.6.22.
If you use 4.0, 4.0.1 5.0 or 5.0.1 you should immediately upgrade to 6 (recommended) or downgrade to 3.6.22. These versions have security problems and is more supported by the Mozilla security patches. People who use these versions are open to attacks.
If this helped you, hit "resolved."

"Cannot display page" message, click a second site, it loads. Click on a third, 'not displayed page', click on a fourth, loads correctly. I am running Windows XP with the latest service pack, my machine has a large HD and sufficient RAM. I have not noticed this before the update to the latest version of Firefox. Problem with my computer? Or Firefox?
Note also that due to e-mails, you can also look on the forum
When you say
I tried IE and the same thing. However, things returned to normal after I rebooted my computer,
Do you mean that IE becomes so callous. If so it might be an indication that any fault is it is not Firefox itself.
You also said
I had to wait for it to screw up again, because it's not every time, every day.
If it is an intermittent problem that goes and comes there could be a problem with your internet connection or, for example, a WiFi problem; If this is how the computer connects.

I get a message that I don't have the latest version of Firefox. I just updated and downloaded the Beta Version 11. Why do I get this message?
The current beta version is 12 of Firefox, but if you're not a tester experienced, so it is best to stay with the current version of Firefox and uninstall the beta version.

Do you not see that the message on the site www.google.com/firefox
The site www.google.com/firefox has been used in versions of Firefox 3.
The current versions of Firefox 4 + is no longer use this website from Google as home page, but use the build-in on: home page as the home page.
Google is no longer seems to keep this page and assumed that you are using an older version of Firefox, if you visit again you and this site warns that you are using an older version of Firefox and invites you to update.
You can ignore this message if you are running the latest version of Firefox, as shown in the window "help > About" (Firefox is updated).
You can use a different page than the homepage as subject: House or www.google.com or www.google.com/ig (iGoogle). -
I start the Firefox browser.
When the start page shows, I get just below the Google search box:
You are not on the latest version of Firefox. Update today to get the best of the Web!Not unusual, but when I go on the site to update it looking for a minute and then tells me I have the current version of the software.
If you use the www.google.com/firefox as homepage site that previous versions of Firefox 3 use as homepage you can ignore the message about not using the latest version of Firefox on this page.
Google seems to keep this page.
The current versions of Firefox 4 + is no longer use this website from Google as home page, but use the build-in on: home page as the home page.
Google assumes that you are using an older version of Firefox if you still visit this site, and warns you that you are using an older version of Firefox and invites you to update.

After installation of the latest version of firefox and I use the new icon on my desktop, it always says that I don't have the latest version. Installation will correctly
It - http://www.google.com/firefox - is the old Page to start Firefox used by the Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions of Firefox, I do not think that it is maintained by Google.
From version Firefox 4, Firefox uses a 'local' with the address Start Page of Subject: House. It looks like the old start Page, but this isn't exactly the same thing.
