  When I import pictures from my iPhone, I label the individual events while they are still in the import window. When I change the window of events, new events appear at the very top/beginning of the library. In order to get these new events in order chronologically, which means that they should be at the bottom of the window, I have to drag the new events down through several years and thousands of photos. I can't find anything in the preferences that I can change to specify that I would like to added to the base, not from the top.   Click on events in the source to the left - pane in the view menu == > sort events, and then select the type you want - this is for iPhoto 9.6.1 - you don't specify what version you have, but I think it's the same for all versions of iPhoto 11

  If you want to see the full hierarchy the bookmark rather that just the name of the folder, you can set the page modules. Either:

  • CTRL + SHIFT + a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

  In the left column, click Extensions. Find show Parent folder on the right, then click on the Options button.

  Note: The extension was created more than 7 years ago and he's still not a built-in feature, so please don't hold your breath!

  One possible cause is a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

If you have a backup or Yosemite is located on the external hard drive, then go in the user folder/photos Yosemite and restore the iPhoto for the El Capitan record/photos user library. My external hard drive just crashed, and while I was able to save most everything else (including library files, proxy support, etc.), Miss me about 90% of the media about 2 000 "original" files. Because the library files have been saved, it seems that my projects seem to be intact, including the cuts and changes. Since FCPX knows what files and parts of files were previously imported, import should be easy... except for the fact that there are about 1 800 distributed clips on dozens of camera archives.

  Too bad. I had assumed the import > reimportation of the camera wasn't working, but apparently because I had saved the AVCHD archives on my hard drive via the Finder instead of 'Create the Archives' of in Final Cut, he just didn't see them. Creating new archives of these same AVCHD files (or rather the folders 'PRIVATE' which originally housed them on the SD card) did the trick and I was able to reimport. Alternatively, I could have re-recorded these SD cards PRIVATE folders and it would have identified those as the original 'camera' once again, too and I could have reimported it... but who would be tedious.

  Are you running a Managed or referenced library?

  A managed, library is the default setting, and iPhoto copies the files in the iPhoto library during import. The files are then stored in the library package

  A referenced library is where iPhoto does NOT copy the files in the iPhoto library when importing because you have made a change to iPhoto-> preferences-> advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files in the library to import) The files are then stored wherever you put them and not in the library package. In this scenario, you are responsible for the management of files.

  You have external devices like camera, phone connected to your computer?

  If so try to remove them and see if that helps.

  I'm trying to import my Aperture (about 15 images of k) on Windows 10 LR library.  I copied the library directly from the Finder to an external HD and from there to my hard drive of the PC.  When I browser in the library, it is considered to be a folder rather than a file.  This means that when I click on library.aplibrary to open, the button is 'Open' and that selecting this bore until the next level of the subfolder, rather that select the import library.

  Any suggestions?  Is there something I need to do to prepare it for export at the library on the Mac?

  You would not be able to import the Aperture library on the Windows computer in Lightroom, because the Plugin is designed to read in the library on Mac.

  I have a photo library on an external hard drive. I've slowly been import previews of the photos selected from the library in my catalog, adding them during the import process - well. But now, I hit a problem. Another folder in my library contains several subfolders, each containing a number of photos (a mixture of RAW steals (naves) and jpg). I was importing found in my catalog each Subfile in turn, using the Add function, usually of the jpgs only from each Subfile. It works fine, until I reached a particular Subfile. For some reason when I try to import from it and select the secondary file as a Source, only the RAW (NEF) images appear in the preview pane (sorry, forgot the correct term for it!). I know that jpg files are in this auxiliary file on the external hard drive, because when I view its content in Windows, they are all there. But try as I can (choose the file under source, select the folder parent as a source, try to copy or move them, instead of adding them), nothing seems to work. Since they do not appear in the preview pane, I can't import them. It does appear that this a Subfile where the problem exists, but I don't see anything that is different from the others (names of files under all use the same structure - yyyy-mm-dd_custom name, and pictures in all subfolders are adopting the same denomination structure too - yyyy-mm-dd_sequential number_custom name.) NAVE/JPG. So what I am doing wrong? Any ideas please.

  It is possible that the images in this particular subfolder were taken in your camera in RAW + JPEG.  If so, you will need to go to preferences under the general tab and make sure the box "processing JPEG files files next to raw as separate photos" is checked.

  

  However, assuming that this is the case, there is really no reason to import the JPEG file if you already have the RAW file.

  I have 31K photos in a catalog.  It's the only catalogue that I use.  Recently, today I imported 84 photos on the same folder I try now to import 200 +.  Adobe Epic Fail!

  Delete the folder "Lightroom 5 catalog Previews.lrdata" and the folder "5 Lightroom Catalog Previews.lrdata Smart" and disconnected from my USB hub, but not my two external hard drives USB.

  I import now.

• Can AE copy a good imported from the library of cloud in the folder that the file of the project resides in?

  Currently, it seems any assets that you import from the library is saved in your user and not side by side with the project file. First will create a folder "CC libraries downloads" which makes much more sense...

  Or am I wrong?

  In a future update, we intend to make the location to which the library assets are recorded an option defined by the user.
