The number of thumbnails on my new tab page has changed

When I changed my PC switched off last night, my new tab Firefox page had twelve miniatures, four per line in three columns. When I turned on my PC today, I opened a new tab page and there were only eight vignettes showing, four per line, but only two lines. I haven't changed my setting in my sleep, so why has the layout has changed and how can I go back to the way it was? Change the zoom on the new page of tabs, to 80%, allows me to display 15 miniatures (I don't really want to fifteen just my twelve original) but only on that specific page, if I open a new fresh tab page is back to the display of thumbnails only eight again.

Hi, as you know you can change the number of tiles on the new tab in the zoom Page forward or back.

You also said keep the same zoom setting when a new tab is clicked: Type Subject: config in the address bar, press ENTER, accept the warning, scroll to browser.newtab.preload and double-click on it to change the 'value' of true to False.

It is also possible about: config to change the maximum number of tiles, scrolling to the browser.newtabpage.columns (or Rows), then right-click > modify to set a new number of 'value '.

As an alternative, you might like to try the add-on new tab tools.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

Please try this: open a bookmark and drag its icon site (on the left side of the address bar (address)), hold it on the newtab tab and when it opens, release it on a blank thumbnail.

  • How can I put ONLY 9 tabs, NO 15, on the new tab Page?

How can I put ONLY 9 tabs, NO 15, on the new tab Page?
(First OFF... Please do not read this as being written by an angry person.) I'm just frustrated with the browser that I liked for years. I hope someone can help me)
For a long time, I had my Firefox (version 33.0.2 - even if I don't remember getting mentions "update") defined so that every time I clicked on the tab new symbol '+' to create a new tab (which has the "new tab Page" on that), the NINE inch nails would be shown for my SELECTION and PIN sites. I LOVED!
Yesterday, I opened Firefox and NOW when I click on the '+' to open the new tab Page... FIFTEEN thumbnails appear, 5wide x 3down, (and to be honest I probably would have the habit of 15! ha).
Here's the PROBLEM: NONE of the thumbnails are "compressed". They ALL have "liberated" up yellow icon to the left and clicking on does nothing to remedy this of course. Other that THAT, everything else behaves normally. (that is to say moving the thumbnails, deleting, swap... I just can't pin THEM!)
FINALLY, I prefer my 9-repositionable decals on the new tab Page.
I went through ALL the options on the side, upside down and backwards, and I just get more frustrated.
    Can someone help me?

    Hello

If you can see all your tiles, you can change your settings in settings page:

    1. In the address bar, type Subject: config and press enter. The subject: config "this might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
    2. Click on I'll be careful, I promise! to keep the comments: config page.
    3. Search for browser.newtabpage.columns and change it to 3, or however many columns you like
      • Note: browser.newtabpage.rows allows you to change the number of desired lines as well

You can also set a fixed number of tiles with the following extensions:

  • How to make the homepage to appear when opening new tab

Under Firefox 40.x whenever I opened a new tab, my home page appeared. When I upgraded to 41.0, opening a new tab displays the suggested sites. How do I have my home page appear whenever I open a new tab?

41 of Firefox is no longer uses the browser.newtab.url setting in about: config because he was constantly attacked by malware. From 41 of Firefox, you need an add-on to change the new tab page.

Here are a few options (I'm learning more all the time):

    • If you are already using Classic theme restaurant: There is an option somewhere (!) in his dialogues of the parameters to select another page in the new tab.

    Setting up substitute again tab

After installing this extension, you must use the Options page to set the new desired tab page (instead of use subject: config).

Open the page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: Cmd + shift + a)
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the side right, find the new tab override and click the Options button. (See first screenshot attached).

Depending on the size of your screen, you may need to scroll down to enter the address in the form. (See second screenshot attached). For example:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Then tab or click this form field and you can test using Ctrl + t.

    Success?

Once you have set it as you wish, you can close the Add-ons page (or use the back button to return to the list of Extensions of this Options page).

Whenever I use the new tab it allows me to add some sites, but also displays the sites recently visited, but also the best sites. I want my new tab to show only sites I have add in 4 columns and 2 rows as what I had in my chrome.

Hi, it won't show recently visited until you have completed all the tiles with your own. When you have added a site that you want to keep here - PIN. See - customize the page new tab.

  • How to change the new tab Page in the menu of tiles?

I want tiles on my new page tabs instead of page white or any other search engine. Help, please

"Out of the box", new Firefox tab page shows tiles, based on your history, and you can replace with other sites if you wish.

Here's how you can change your new tab page:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?

The new integrated tab page, the "gear" icon should provide both classic and enhanced, that show tiles.

If the problems persist, some potential diagnoses and remedies:

If Firefox will not let you change this setting: you can have what is called SearchProtect on your system. This must be removed the control panel.

Firefox if allows you to save your changes, but he doesn't know: one of your extensions may be the substitution of her. You can consult, disable and/or remove extensions on page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, take a critical look on the list on the right and turn off (or remove) something unknown.

If the modification works during your session, but during the next startup is return to the unwanted page: you could have a user.js file in your personal settings Firefox (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and delete the file: How to fix preferences that will not save.

  • No thumbnails in a new tab - just some lame map search engine

Today when I hit the symbol more to open a new tab, instead of thumbnails nice I'm used to here comes a search engine: snap.do. I never installed or anything. So I wondered: how to recover my thumbnails and if I can not how can I get at least open a decent search engine like google.

Hello, all first please go to firefox > addons > extensions and remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, the things that you have not installed intentionally, I don't know what purpose they serve, etc.). also, go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from here and do a full scan of your system with the security such as the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleanertools.

Remove a toolbar that has supported your Firefox or the homepage search
Fix Firefox problems caused by malicious software

then install the reset search addon - he'll come back more often customizations make these adware programs in default firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/thumbnails-on-new-tab-page-are-missing?e=es & As = AAQ

Hello, sorry for the hurt i read your first post - I thought that even some pages appear. thumbnails also will not work at the moment when the disk cache is enabled (from your system information it seems that it isn't) - Please allow firefox to use at least a small amount of memory cache on the hard disk in preferences > advanced > network and restart the browser, then the thumbnails must regenerate when you visit pages later.

Edit: If the above does not work, enter Subject: config in the address bar of the browser, search for the preference named browser.cache.disk.enable and toggle true by double clicking on it...
