The program display open in the taskbar

I use Vista to the Windows Welcome page.  At first the buttons in window open program were justified left, similar to other versions of Windows. Then one day, they were smaller and good reason, isn't a problem, except that even if the task bar is almost empty, only 2 will show at a time.  If I have more than 2 programs open at the same time I must then scroll down to find and switch to the third program.  I do not remember anything, but if there is a way to show more than 2 programs at the same time, I like to restore.
Thank you

  • When I open a program, another icon appears in the taskbar. How can I change to make the correct icon?

I tried to change the default program that appears when I open the .gif or .jpg files, so I made successfully by using the control panel.

Then when I opened a PDF file (with Adobe Reader X), the icon that appears in the taskbar is my default program for .gif and .jpg files (in this case, paint).  I checked the options of the program by default under the control panel and it does not say that .pdf files will be opened by Adobe Reader if it is not the problem.

When I check the properties of Adobe Reader X, the icon used is the appropriate icon.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader software, but it still happens.  I restarted the computer.

So why Windows 7 displays the icon of the paint when a .pdf file is opened?

I ask here because the control panel and change the default programs is a Windows 7 problem.

    Thank you
    Keith

Oh believe me, it would drive me crazy too.

It's probably a long shot, because as far as I know, the taskbar should not use the shortcut icon to the start menu to choose which shows... but we will try.  Just kill this reader shortcut in the start menu and make your own (just open Adobe C:\Program 9.0\Reader and do a right click AcroRd32.exe choose "send to: desktop (create shortcut)" and then falling in your Start menu.)  Try it pin to the taskbar too and then open a PDF file maybe.
I think I know the registry keys control this icon, but I really hesitate to recommend snooping around in it.

I recently reset my computer Factory

I have to click a program that is not open in my taskbar for the program to appear on my screen without minimize as it would save time instead to support a bunch of minimize buttons because I need a lot of programs open.

Until I'm able to have a program such as photoshop and be on Google Chrome, then by simply pressing the photoshop icon he'd jump up on top of my screen that allows me to work a rhythm quicker and more efficient.

    Hello Fweak,

Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.

According to the description of the problem after performing factory reset you are not able to open the application by clicking on the icon of these applications. Maybe there's a chance that, after the factory reset these application get removed from your computer.

I suggest you to check whether or not this application is shown in programs and features. If she's not here, so if please install this application once more and then create the shortcut of this application. Then, you will be able to open the application by clicking the shortcut key.

    Step 1

Check the application in the control panel.

    • Press on the key Windows + R.
    • Type appwiz.cpl in the run box.
    • Now, find the applications that you could not open.

    Step 2

Install the application if it is not installed and display in the Panel.

    Step 3

Try to create a shortcut for the application after installation. See the steps in the article mentioned below to create a shortcut.

  • left-click on the icon of firefox in the taskbar displays a list of all open tabs. Windows 7 - Solution

I used to have an application icon on the taskbar of Windows 7 and it will give the list the number of open windows if I have left until it clicks. But the icon of Firefox seems to have lots of windows open, except that each entry is a different tab in the single window, I opened...

'Zero' has a question archived in the same sense in which he got a response, and I tried to find the "was this answer useful?" to add a yes vote for her, but cannot vote on things in archive...

So I write a similar question with the answer that I have found useful.

    SOLUTION
In tools > Options, open the "Tabs" tab: uncheck the box prΘvisualisation, "Show tab in the Windows task bar."

In my case, immediately displays taskbar icon an entry by the window open, bearing the title of the currently opened tab. Zero had to restart Firefox to see its new configuration to take effect.

Now, if I opened another window in Firefox, the Firefox icon displays a list of open windows. He cut down the mess!

Zero was running Windows 7 and Firefox 22, I'm 34 of Firefox.

Edited to remove [b] for "BOLD".

    SOLUTION

In tools > Options, open the "Tabs" tab: uncheck the box prΘvisualisation, "Show tab in the Windows task bar."

  • left-click on the icon of firefox in the taskbar displays a list of all the tabs. How to open just to the last tab?

I use the tab grouping feature a lot. It means that I have 100s of tabs open at any time.

The problem: once a switch between tab groups, the Firefox icon in the task bar changes in what looks like multiple echoes of the Firefox icon. I guess this is supposed to represent several groups of tabs.

Before the 20th of Firefox might click on the Firefox icon in the taskbar, and would come to the top and show the last tab, I worked on Firefox.

Since Firefox 20 a left click on the Firefox icon in the task bar now displays a list of the 28 tab + seemingly random tabs. Many of them said only: "Mozilla Firefox" instead of the site represented by this tab (because the tab has not been accessed recently).

To open Firefox to the last tab, that I worked on is now a real chore. I now have to choose one of these tabs 28 + (which is 99% of the time the tab bad), then switch to the Group of the appropriate tab and then find the tab I've worked on. It usually takes 5-10 clicks to get back to where I was before I've minimized Firefox, or before that Firefox has lost focus. (In the past I could simply click on the Firefox in the taskbar, and restored Firefox icon where I left last.)

How can I disable the list that is displayed when a left click or move the mouse over the Firefox icon in the taskbar? I would like the ability to minimize/restore Firefox by clicking on the Firefox icon in the taskbar, as it was in the past, do not get a choice of random tabs.

I think that I thought about it. Under OPTIONS > OPTIONS > TAB, uncheck the box for "Show glimpses of tab in the Windows task bar" and then click OK

  • "Windows cannot display the control volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. »

    missing volume control

volume control was gone. I tried to go into my control panel to use it, but I get an error that says:

"Windows cannot display the control volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. »

I have lost my Windows XP disc in a move and can't reinstall the file to a disk, how to fix this?

When you use certain features sounds and Audio devices, you see a message like this:

Windows cannot display the control of volume on the taskbar because the Volume control program has not been installed. To install it use Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.

It seems that the c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe file is missing.

This may occur if your antivirus/antimalware application thinks the file is suspicious and quarantines (effectively delete) the file.  You can replace the missing file with a backup copy of the file that is in another folder on your system.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive...

We know that XP keeps copies of critical system files in the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

Using the Explorer, search for or navigate to the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

Locate the sndvol32.exe file, right-click, choose copy (it copies the file to the Windows Clipboard).

If your Solution Explorer settings are not set to display file extensions, you will see only a file called 'sndvol32' which has an icon that looks like to the volume control slider (this is the file you need).

If the file is missing in the dllcache folder, look for a copy of the file in this folder:

    c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

Browsing from a level in the following folder:

    c:\Windows\System32

Right-click on an empty area in the window of c:\windows\system32 and choose Paste to paste in the missing file where it belongs.

Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file.

Now try your features sounds and Audio devices.

Note that run sfc/scannow will not replace the missing file because it is not this that sfc/scannow does.

  • Display problems are driving me crazy - when I click on a program already open in the task bar it does not open on the other open pages

This happens if I click on a file or a file that is already open. The opened file will blink in the taskbar, but does not open on the top of any page is currently on the screen. When I click on previously open programs bring them on top as usual. Open another windows word file in the start menu did not appear at the top of the page currently open also. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

This happened after one of the three things - the upgrade of windows components, the advanced upgrade system of care or following a computer crash that preceded the front mentioned updates but I'm not sure that one.

  • Not all programs are displayed on the taskbar at the bottom, they use to?

For some reason any I no longer get open programs along the bottom of the desktop on the taskbar.  I use to get them all so I could pick each individually.  When I need to get to one that is open I have to close all those that have been opened after that I want to use.  I use to be able to open 4 or 5 programs so I could monitor the need, but is that actually a lot more work having close and then go back.

    Hi skier Craig,.

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. You have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

Check if the problem persists in safe mode and post back with the results.

A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

    Method 2

If the problem does not persist in safe mode, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. Click Start , and then click run.
    2. Type msconfig , and then click OK.
The System Configuration utility dialog box appears.
    3. Click the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services , and then click OK.

When you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.

    Method 3

If the steps above fail, then I suggest that you scan and remove any malware or computer virus infections and check if it helps.

  • Why we can no longer open a program over the taskbar

original title: the feature of the taskbar

Why a very useful feature has been removed?  Auto-hide is very probably the most annoying feature ever;  I prefer to be able to allow windows to open the taskbar and if I need press the Windows keyboard direct, we have been able to do for almost 10 years.

It's like being able to drag the elements around the area of all programs on the start menu.  You can do it, but they just re - get an alphabetical sort themselves even if you put ' Menu all programs sort by name "OFF - why he lost us this feature and what is the point preferably to be here at all if it's going to sort without worrying?
