  I have a laptop of series of Lenovo IdeaPad Z500, that came with a 60 GB drive C for storage/parition.

  I'm running out of space and was trying to extend the partition using the tools of Paritioning but I don't get the option to extend the C drive, after creating an unallocated partition (say 10-15 GB). I try so to make my partition of the drive C was around 70-75 GB after the extension of the C drive.

  One thing I noticed that I have a score of 300 MB (approx.) just after the C drive. It does not resemble an OKR partition but another thing that I already have a 25 GB of partition OKR.

  I'm suspecting that this 300 MB of partition is coming in my way to extend the partition on the C drive, but I'm just guessing. I could be wrong as well.

  So, I'm currently stuck here and can't seem to find a way to extend the drive C partition without messing up the configuration OKR.

  In addition, I'd appreciate really if someone could tell me how to do a factory default operating system image backup, so I can't run in case my system fails to start at somepoint in time.

  When I open the app OKR, it gives me two options: backup & restore system.

  I'm also confused here if the backup of the system would make the backup of the complete (with all applications at this stage) operating system? If this is the case, then how can we restore that image in the event of a boot failure?

  Overall, here are my questions:

  #How to extend the C drive without affecting the OKR/partition configuration?

  #How to restore the backup system image (saved using "Backup system" option OKR App) when the system does not boot? I have to write to a disc or save it to another partition would also work?

  Partition D, your description, would appear to be a recovery partition. If so, it is provided so that the computer can be recovered/restored to the State it's in when the computer was delivered to you.

  If you have other means in place to make this (backups of the entire system to storsge external, for example), the partition could be deleted and the space used for other purposes. If you do not have such a plan for backup in place, you can delete it anyway - it's your computer. However, it would be unwise, in my opinion - but it's not my computer.

  I've updated to El Capitan, disk utility since refuses to let me click on partition.

  Accidentally, I partitioned my disk flash before I updated and so I need to cancel, because now I have 200 MB of storage on it.

  I tried using terminal but I have been unable to fix this way, too.

  Make sure that all your files are backed up. Accidents happen and I'd hate for you to lose all data.

  Are you trying to repartition the boot disk? If I understand correctly, your hard disk is currently partitioned, and you need to recover a single correct hard drive?

  You can't repair the disk hard while you use the hard disk. To get the partition on a single disk, boot from the recovery disc.

  Restart the computer and press immediately on and hold command-R until you see a loading bar, and then release the keys. Once the recovery disc starts, choose your language (if it asks you to) and then again open disk utility. Now, select your hard drive and delete the extra partition. It should tell you "this will not affect your files...". "but if he says that you will lose all data, STOP. Make sure that you remove the extra partition without data on this subject.   If you delete the primary partition, leaving the logic, the system cannot start because the main partition contains the MBR file.

  I suggest you to improve the Windows 7 partition (which is a primary partition) to 8.1 Windows.

  Note: You will have to reinstall applications.

  Once upgrade has completed, you can copy the data that is in your Windows 8.1 drive to another drive, and you can format the partition Windows 8.1.

  first of all, in reality 'a partition table' means create a new table a migration of existing data it (although, theoretically, you can use dbms_redefinition to partition an existing table - however, it's just doing the same thing behind the scenes). This means that you also get to decide what to do with the index - index will be local, who will be global (you can also reassess some of existing indexes and decide that they are not really necessary).

  Second of all, the choice of the partitioning key seems weird. Partitioning is a data management technique more that anything else, in order to be eligible, you must find a good partitioning key. A column recently added, named "data_seq" is not a good candidate. Can you give us more details about this column and why it was chosen as a partitioning key?

  I suspect that the person who proposed this partitioning scheme made a huge mistake. A non-partitioned table is much better in all aspects (including the ease of management and performance) that divided one wrongly.

  You can rename a partition with your preferred naming convention:

  alter table CUSTOMER rename partition SYS_P101 to CUSTOMRES_P_256;
  

  But you first need to know the name of the partition. One thing I have used in cases when a partition interval has not created yet is to insert a record with the new partition key value so that the partition interval is created, then get the name of the partition and then push the insert. In this way, you know the name of partition before any data is loaded.

  Of course, you can query dba_tab_partitions and examine the high_value column to select the correct partition. However, I prefer the method of obtaining the name of the next partition. It gives you the name of the partition for a row in a table. This is also useful for existing data (not only new partitions) If you need to find the partition where a certain rank.

  Even I did as you say, but we give below error.

  In fact, it is not an error message:

  You have SQL code contained in the "dump":

  CREATE TABLE 'TRADING_TEST' ("BRAND_DESCRIPTION' VARCHAR2 (120)...)

  For example, you may notice that importation will try to recreate the Table of TRADING_TEST with all its partitions. Of course, it will generate an error and you will not be able to import the data in the Partition. Unless you have just TRUNCATE and you use the parameter IGNORE = Y.

  So, if you TRUNCATE the Partition you do not have to recreate.

  If you DROP the Partition, it is best to recreate first (ALTER TABLE ADD PARTITION...).

  Then import you the datas like that (I just add IGNORE and LOG settings):

  imp system/password file=C:\exportTable32\table.dmp FROMUSER=dev touser=system tables=(TRADING_TEST:A15) ignore=y log=C:\exportTable32\table.log
  

  However, I hope that it is just for test purpose, because it is not recommended to create the user Tables in the SYSTEM.
