The QoS priorities

Hello

I have read and learned a lot about the quality of service.

What is still not clear to me is the priority-setting mechanism.
From what I understand, is that it is a system schedular interview queues.
It is a different algorithm running IOS, XE - OS, NX - OS switch model.

As DWRR or WFQ,...

What don't get me, it's how tell you which queue should be served first.
Normally classify you the interesting traffic, mark it with CoS, DSCP, or qos-group...

In politics assign you bandwidth given by queue.

But how can you say that this queue must be served before other queues?
Most of the switches, then you have a maximum of 8 queues, why if you like 56possibilities with DSCP if you can only map to 8queueus?
Even with qos-groups you have over 100 posibilities but how you match these possibilities with your queues?

Thanks for the clarification.

David

But how can you say that this queue must be served before other queues?

Furose: you must specify explicitly switch it to a priority queue. you usually do under 'class-map' according to the category you want it to be a priority queue. any DSCP being correspond to this category. If you say that the switch traffic within that category should be served first, it will be.

Most of the switches, then you have a maximum of 8 queues, why if you like 56possibilities with DSCP if you can only map to 8queueus?

Not all values in Furose: DSCP 56 are used, but is the reason for having more than 8 DSCP values, you can traffic service in same classes differently with different thresholds fall.

Even with qos-groups you have over 100 posibilities but how you match these possibilities with your queues?

Furose: you can match more than 1 group of qos in a single queue.

The default values are 61, 31 y 10 but in a net with 12 PCs

I think that this configuration 61 voice Ip and only 31 to the rest of the net

How I can well criteria to configure these values of priorities?

In the previous (a WR210 of Cisco router), the only thing that was

I'm stuck with this matter and it should resolve quickly

    Thank you very much

    Daniel Di Matteo

Hi Daniel, the claim of LAN should not affect the performance of the internet. All that is on the local interconnection, make queries on the local network will not use an internet connection. So as long as your servers/computers/cameras, etc. are using Cat6 cable and are all active GigE products, it will not be a large part of the review.

But for your connection internet, you may be correct. 4/1 connection is not much.

I need you to understand however, the WAN QoS for download speed only. Is not for download speed.

You can make the profile works in 2 ways. You can keep the amount of download speed to a device or you can ensure that a device does not take more than he should.

To set up a WAN profile correctly-

    QoS-> WAN QoS profiles

    Choose the maximum flow

    Specify your bandwidth

    Save

Back to WAN QoS profiles, at the bottom there is a WAN QoS profile table, click Add. In the drop-down list, select the priority. Set the minimum and maximum bandwidth, and then click Save.

Then you have to bound the profiles for the traffic selector. Go to QoS-> binding profile

There is a service drop down choose which desired protocol

Then choose the QOS profile you had a precedent set

The last part, choose the IP address you want to assign.

You can do this individually or in sequence. If you choose to be forbidden to use a device too download so that the beginning and the IP is the same. Conversely, if you have a range of devices, you can use their IP ranges if they are consecutive.

Apply the profile, restart the router.

I hope that I wrote this clearly for you.

  • The QOS configuration

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help me, im trying to QOS configuration for our new VOIP phone system, but im abit lost with the config, well really lost

I use the CCP to configure and the QOS Wizard, but im not sure I'd be DSP or NBAR and also what are the percentages on the next page, I've attached a screenshot of the pages,

any help on that would be great

    Paddi

You don't want to police.  Percentages are based on the size of your circuit and how VoIP traffic you want to ensure.  By example, if you have a circuit of 20 MB/s and want to ensure 2 Mbps for VoIP the percentage would be 10%.

If you are unsure, then I guess that just run with the default values suggested.

Call mark DSCP traffic system (I hope)?  If so, use this option.

  • Any way to see the QoS of packages received in the VC unit?

    Hello

Is there a way to check or view marking QoS/DSCP of the packets received on a particular unit of VC via GUI or CLI?

We have a problem of poor audio quality / video in our environment. I'm looking for this to confirm the package QoS (AF41) is unchanged while browsing the network and finally achieve unity of VC.  This will save a lot of time by eliminating the need to make wireshark OCAP.

    Environment:

Call TMS at the request with the MCU data center

Different models of VC across the globe - C40, C60, EX60 EX90... etc.

QoS parameters in MCU and VC unit is checked and they AF41 together.

Remote sites interconnected through BT MPLS

The network team has confirmed many AF41 P.C. in remote sites and without releases, errors

QoS are checked to be good on the network by our team of nw

    Thanks in advance!

A capture of packets of the endpoint is the only method to display the QoS marking, this can be done via the web interface under Diagnostics > log files, see extended logging.  Make sure that your network switches are not to drop packets or set a low value that is less than the rate of call of the endpoint.

  • The QoS traffic shaping and shaping tip

    Hello

Could someone tell me what is the difference between traffic and shaping of edge smoothing?

    Kind regards.

The main reasons to use the traffic shaping are to control access to the available bandwidth to ensure that traffic is consistent with specific policies and to regulate the flow of traffic to avoid congestion. Some reasons for example for the use of the following traffic shaping:

Control access to bandwidth when the policy dictates that the average rate of a given interface must not exceed a certain rate.

Configure traffic on an interface if you have a network with different access rates. Suppose that one end of the link in a frame relay network runs at 256 Kbps and the other end of the link works to 128 Kbps. sending packets to 256 Kbps may cause applications to stop using the link.

A similar and more complex case would be a network of link layer giving indications of congestion on the terminal equipment of data access with different rate attached devices (DTE). The network may be able to deliver more speed transit to a DTE device to a precise moment than at any other time.

If you offer a service of low speed, the traffic shaping allows you to use the router to partition your T1 or T3 links into smaller strings.

The traffic shaping prevents packet loss. Its use is especially important in Frame Relay networks, because the switch cannot determine which packages have priority or what packages should be removed in the event of congestion.

Specifying the rate of advanced formatting allows you to make better use of available bandwidth by allowing more data than the EIF to be sent if the bandwidth is available.

  • HR 2015 & HR 10 - results not properly establish the research priorities

I created my project in HR 10, and recently he has migrated to 2015 HR. The problem I describe has been present in the two versions of exactly in the same way.

I have a section called "Files OCAP" (pcap_files.htm). I wish it were the first result when the user searches for "OCAP", but it's not: it of still 9 or more, as shown:

    pcap-search.png

I have "OCAP" and "pcaps" in the list of search keyword for the page "PCAP files" and no search for the PCAP API keywords (which is always listed first). These other topics between either contain no "pcap" in the list of search keyword, or that they do but "OCAP" isn't in the title, file name, or table of contents entry.

How can ensure me that the heading "PCAP files" is first or second in the search results?

    Hello again

Unfortunately, I've never read anything official from Adobe on this. What I share in this thread, that's simply what I personally learned a simple experimentation.

If no topic have OCAP and we do, of course, it should be the only one found.

If OCAP appears 1,000 times in the body text of a theme but it appears only once in another topic, but it is in a position, this topic is listed first.

And what seems to prevail over all the existence of this term in a topic title. There may be slight variations that may occur as "tie breakers". For example, say two subjects had a heading with the word in it, I expect the subject with occurrences more give more weight. Or if the two subjects have the term in a cap but a heading 2 while the other is a heading 1, so I expect the subject with the mention of the title 1 to give more weight. But I'm not certain about it. Just a guess on my part.

Listing something but cache via a conditional tag would frustrate the object that this text would not attend after generation.

If the small field of search by keyword allows in some cases, but is not the end of the entire solution.

    See you soon... Rick

    ARTICLEX, 01/07/2011 ~ 31/07/2011, MODE_D
    ARTICLEX, 01/08/2011 ~ 31/08/2011, MODE_B

    ARTICLEX, 01/02/2012 ~ 31/05/2012, MODE_C
    ARTICLEX, 01/06/2012 ~, MODE_D

  • QoS on each device in the path network?

    Hello

Apologies, as I'm new to QoS, but it's something I can't find a clear answer too,

I understand the notion of quality of service on the routers, it's usually the field I see QoS easally passing in the form of WAN links tend to be 10 MB/20 MB etc., so we need to prioritize the traffic as these links can congested bandwidth.

I understand the use of the class / political cards to identify traffic and bandwidth priority, and then apply the service policy to the output interface on the interface that connects to the WAN link.

We need quality of service on the local network that connects to the Wan? Even switches layer 2? ... is by port, how to identify traffic at the switch level and give priority to it?

    Help, please!

    Thank you

    Poster

I'm not a supporter of QoS from end to end, just because you can, either that's what suggests '' the book. ''  There is a cost for their maintenance and QoS implementations, and if done correctly, QoS can degrade service.

Where you should have QoS is on any interface where forms of congestion it is unfavourable to of the application serve the needs and which may be updated by QoS.  (Sometimes the 'right' solution is more bandwidth, although often more bandwidth is achieved when the quality of service could be a more optimal).

Often, there are undesirable congestion on WAN interfaces, because as you note, they provide less bandwidth LAN interfaces.  (Also WAN bandwidth is also often more expensive to provide than the LAN bandwidth).

Placing the QoS on the interfaces that don't really need, it's a bit like buying insurance.  It adds to your "cost", but offers "protection" for the unexpected.  Once again, as if you must buy insurance, for which coverage and cost, QoS implementations should also take into account coverage and expected benefit vs cost.

    So...

We need quality of service on the local network that connects to the Wan?

Maybe, maybe not, but also again, often if you do not need effective QoS, LAN to WAN is a common place.

    Even switches layer 2?

    Another maybe, maybe not.

... is by port, how to identify traffic at the switch level and give priority to it?

In fact how depends on the device.

Often, you have a policy of penetration which examines the traffic, and based on what it "sees" could allow the self marked traffic to go markedly or brand/note traffic according to the needs.

Device can have the exit policy that determines how the traffic is processed, including priorities, when there is congestion.

The thing to understand about QoS is to respond to the needs of your traffic, made service by managing the queuing traffic and lozenges.

QoS often becomes a point of discussion when dealing with VoIP.  However, not all needs of VoIP QoS in all cases and even cases such as data transfers in bulk, could be improved in QoS.

Unfortunately, QoS corresponds with the old cliché, "can't see the forest for the trees".  Most hardware QoS explains how to treat the 'trees', but does not explain how the forest should be managed.

  • All the router have to be installed downstream, or QoS do not work, has failed.

The router on the QoS config have downstream for setm so don't have this cause for the game lag, etc. have

  • QOS: Basic Questions

    Hello everyone.

I recently read in quality of Service and have been fiddling with it on my Linksys WRT54G Router. But there are a few things that seem to be limiting (at least on this version) and so I have a few questions.

I live in a House with three other roommates all sharing the same internet connection. We don't have a bandwidth limit, so I don't like how they download you. When I want to watch Netflix when they are all over the internet, however, my movies will come in low quality or will be interrupted.

I put in my MAC address and value my high priority under the priority of the device. My first question is, what is the priority of a device that is not at all? There is room for both devices so I can not put all three of my roommates in. I guess that their priority would be automatically the lower.

I wanted to put some common-a high priority ports. So far, I have just the port 53 for DNS is entered with the highest priority, while my computer is set to high. If this means any computer make a DNS request would have a higher priority than my computer making a request not DNS? I would like to as DNS to be a higher priority than me in streaming video.

Finally, there are ports commonly use this streaming video? I know there are ports for Netflix, but I also thought other Flash/HTML5 videos that I could meet. Or they tend to just use port 80?

If there is anything else, do you think I should know for what I'm doing, I'm open to those too.

    Thanks in advance

Because QoS can possibly accelerate a package, basically what it does is to take your total available upstream bandwidth, calculate how many high priority data has, which, in the buffer, then go down the line in priority until it is running out of data to send or the buffer fills. All surplus data are braked or "requeued' at the front of the line, where he will be evaluated in the next pass.

"importance" is determined by the priority of the package. Range of priorities of "Low" or "in bulk" (according to the router), to 'High' or 'Premium '. The number of levels and the exact terminology depends on your router. As the name suggests, packages of priority "down" / "in bulk" get the lowest priority, while the packages ' high ' / ' Premium ' get the highest priority.

If the devices that may not be listed in the QoS settings left will have normal/medium priority.

  • WRT120N of QoS does not work!

I have a WRT120N and have tried to implement the priorities using the QoS tab Applications and games.  Whenever I have 'Save Settings', it does not record. It refreshes the page and deletes everything I just put in place.

I did Live Chat and they told me it was my router. I returned it and got another... Same problem

Any suggestions / what happens to others?

If you encounter the same problem on both routers, then I don't think that this could be the problem with the router. I think that you should check the settings of your browser to your IE (Delete Cookies, delete files offline, delete Temp files). Disable the firewall on your computer and then try to make the changes on your router...

If this still does not work then you can try to make changes on your router from another computer and check if you are able to make the changes on your router.

  • Problem of QoS policy

I have a Cisco 2651 router with a line of rental of 2 MB to the ISP. It seems that whenever my users begin to download stuff - ISO images, all of my interactive SSH sessions would be extremely slow.

Therefore, I went through some of the QoS books and found that it was good for us to do priority queues.

And what I did was to perform priority queues for incoming traffic on my series s0/0 interface which is connected to the ISP.

However, even after this operation did not help to speed up my SSH sessions, while users are downloading, could someone help?

Medium priority queues the best fact?

    Hello

the problem with priority queues is that traffic no matter what you put in the high priority list gets kept first, and other, lower priority traffic could get faded out.

Perhaps it would be best to configure based on weighted Fair Queuing priorities. You can define a class that corresponds to your SSH traffic and assign a certain percentage of bandwidth to this class. Here is an example:

    IP cef

    !

    class-map correspondence SSH

    ssh protocol game

    !

    Policy-map PRIORITIZE_SSH

    SSH class

    priority 500

    default class

    bandwidth 1000
