• Renders TIFF and JPEG from the RAW files appear different as seen in Bridge

  I work with the demo of Photoshop CS6, with cab 7.1. CS6 System Info will appear at the bottom of this post. Summary: AMD Phenom II x 6 1090 t., 16 GB RAM, Win7 64 bit, nVidia GTX 460 video w/1 GB RAM, approx. 2.5 TB of free space on several internal physical disks, Canon 50 d, CR2 files. I have a camera profile generated by the profile editor, and the monitor is calibrated with i-to-1 Match.

  I practiced with the new basic Panel controls (2012 process). When I felt that I was getting the hang of them, I started to save JPEG and TIFF files and noticed differences between what appears in the bridge and ACR. I worked on it for a while and searched some other threads in the Forum that seemed to speak of similar results. I have now tried to Image Processor via the bridge, save the Image in ACR and open > save manually in PS CS6. By what route, the TIFF and JPEG are different (lighter in the following examples, but this isn't always the case), while the saved PSD seems to be close, but not identical to the CR2 in Bridge or Photoshop. Here is a screenshot of the bridge thumbnails that show the differences.

  

  I hope that the labels come out legibly. The two images on the second row are respectively of CR2 and PSD. What is really strange to me is that when I re-recorded the PSD file in TIFF format, the same type of difference appears in the TIFF format. (See the _MG_7960_via_PSD.tif above.) I downloaded the CR2, its XMP, TIFF and JPEG on Sendspace (107 MB) file. I did earlier in my experiences and regret that the naming of the files is not as informative as perhaps.

  I ran a few other ACR adjusted by images of CR2 Image Processor and saw a variety of differences between rendering files and the FIRST versions. The differences appear to be in the exposure and contrast. Most of them looked a bit darker, unlike the examples above.

  You have the option to auto tone apply verified? I noticed and reported that a bridge bug is CS5, when your car is verified. It may still be around.

  IF prefs are designed to open jpef/TIFF image in ACR * IF * the files has ACR settings (aka a XMP file), * AND * auto tone has been verified * THEN * auto tone has been applied to the bridge thumbnails even if jpef/tiff did not ACR settings. Thumbnail/preview looks so different when opened in photoshop and others. The thumbnail has the auto tone and the opened file does not.

  And temporarily disable the Gatekeeper by allowing downloads from anywhere, or your installer will be marked as 'damaged' because that CS5 is out before Gatekeeper and is not "signed" that is not approved.

• Delete the raw files only file catalog

  I have a catalog with the RAW file and its dng file appearing I want to delete only the RAW files from the catalog.  Is there an easy way to show not only the RAW files, how I can mark and remove them?  Or view files RAW and dng, but they have lumped together so I can still score only RAW files?  As it is, I have a checkered pattern which will require picking through the thumbnails one at a time and checking the RAW files for removal.n

  You can filter the raw files. If you do not see the library filter especially thumbnails press the backslash key.

  Select the text option, and in the search box, type the extension for example NEF, CR2 raw files, ARW etc.. You can then select all (Ctrl + A) and delete or remove. Delete lets erase you the images of the catalogue but keep the files in the folder on your hard disk, unless you confirm you want to delete in the trash.

• How to assess the sharpness of the development of the RAW files?

  What is the best technique to sort any RAW files for the sharpness of focus?  I am a photographer of nature (birds, insects, flowers, whales and landscapes) taking pictures with the Canon 20 d and the telephoto & macro Canon L series lenses.  My current technique is to sort for incredible sharpness by displaying the 1:1 and in rejecting the RAW file, if it is not strong (eg. eye of the animal that is my update).  I reject some beautiful photos which do not appear to be strong right out of the camera (in view of 1:1)?  Thank you for sharing your techniques to assess the sharpness of focus!

  Emphasis sharpeness, created by the lens being exactly with the emphasis on the plain you intended is a different thing to appied to image sharpening in the treatment, which is the localized basically contrast enhancement. The sharpness of the current focus point is a factor of the quality of the lens (combined with your technique by getting in the right place and avoid the camera of course), if the technique is correct, using L series camera lenses should create a very sharp activity to any opening, the poorest quality lenses (and or even the occasional goal of L are never totally strong as never actually are in implementing to the point and by increasing some sensors to solve even the best lenses that can result in images to look soft on these cameras as the 1 D III mk if emphasis is placed on the edges of the sensor) RAW files imported into LR have applied by default sharpness to deal with a specific problem described as follows. Capture digital sensors usually have an anti-aliasing filter in front of the sensor that helps eliminate the moiré artifacts like edges come in conjunction with the resolution of the photosite array. It's a complicated way of saying that if you have a thin straight line and you turn on the sensor so that it is almost aligned on a line of photosites, there will come a point where the slim straight fit random one side or the other of a border between photo sites. Anti aliasing blur filter and extended the line to minimize the moiré effect that this causes. To do this, a resolution is lost.  Sharpening of entry is the operation of border adjustment limit contrasts to retrieve the perception of resolution to reduce this problem, this will allow you to judge whether you have actually touched in the right place with your accent, by displaying the image 1:1 before you start adding improvements in contrast. Sharpening of entry is applied by default (unless disable you it in LR) and little or no extra is usually required. Output sharpening is required for images, print and web, and this is also done automatically by LR using selections in the export mode.

  Creative sharpening can be done if you really want to using the tool brush in LR, but applying on sharpening all as a creative technique using LR (or any other software besides) should be done with caution, or not at all.

  Sharpening treatment promotes an image, it does not have an image update somehow in brief output.

  My photo library is over 700 GB. I have a lot of raw files that are 30 MB or more. How can we separate the raw files in a separate file or a separate library?

  Duplicate your photos library in the Finder and then remove all the BULLIES of the first library photos and all photos that are not the RAW files of the second library.

  You can search for RAW photos with a smart album:

  File > new Smart Album

  Then set the rule set to "picture is GROSS."

  Of the other library use the rule 'The Photo is not BELIEVED'.

• Open the raw file in Photoshop

  Ask MacBook Pro to use Nikon D7100. The photos are raw + jpeg. On PC, I can right click on the photo and choose open in Photoshop. I am not able to do this on the Mac. I tried to drag the files to the desktop. I can edit photo and change the default value to raw, and then drag it to the desktop and it still shows as a jpeg. There must be a simple answer.

  The indication that the file system is RAW usually means that there is a corruption of the file system structures. How to go on recovery depends on the value you are asking about the data on the disk. If your budget of time or money is over and the data of low value or backed up.

  Only if first convert you the files for adobe dng files by using the adobe dng converter 9.7 to convert files cr2 in best dng, including photoshop cs6 can open.

  Photoshop cs6 can not be updated the required 9.7 camera raw plugin, that is why we need to use the dng converter.

  Is Photoshop (tell us the version) upward to date?

  You may need to get a new version of Camera Raw that supports your camera files (only one?) outputs.

• Elements 9 does not open the raw files from my new camera

  Have a panasonic DMC-GX85.  My 9 items does not open the raw file and I failed in upgrading to 9.03 and camera raw 6.5.  Y at - it solution or do I have the latest elements?

  There are essentially 4 different solutions to this common problem with the older PES software:

  (1) upgrade to the latest version 14;  It's not free.

  (2) the software should come with your camera and download pictures on your computer;

  (3) your operating system may have some updates to download images from your camera.

  (4) use Adobe DNG converter and it is still free.  The latest version is:

• Photoshop crashes after opening the Raw files

  I have i76800K Broadwell-E 64 GB RAM and 512 GB Samsung 950 m2 SSD Intel processor.

  In Windows 10 when I edit the raw files of 50 or 60 and open them in Photoshop, my PC freeze for about 20 seconds after opening all the files then its fine again. I tried on different PC and it's the same question. I tried to optimize my system and nothing works. Never had this problem in Windows 7. But same question in Windows 8.1 and 10 everyone has experienced the same problem here? Can you try to open about 50 raw files in Photoshop and see if your PC crashes for 15-20 seconds after their opening.

  OK, installed the latest version of Photoshop CC 2015.5 and looks like the problem is solved. Looks like it comes with Photoshop CC 2015.0.

• Best way to sort, organize and delete the RAW files?

  I am looking for a way to simply sort through a series of close to 600 raw on a Mac files.  I'm very new to this, so bare with me :)

  At first, I downloaded the raw files from my SD card in my iPhoto which led to all the files in JPEG format.  So I decided that it was no good, so I tried to put the CR2 files in an organized folder and dragging the file in the preview.  I find that the preview is verrrry slow.  I'm looking for the best way to sift through

  These files and choose the best/remove the worst.  What do you recommend? I plan on changing the files in Photoshop and Lightroom.

  Is there a place in Lightroom where I can get this sort of process I speak of? Or do I have to download another type of organization program offline?

  If you mean the word "out" the process of getting rid of the 'bad' images, and Yes keeping 'good' images, Lightroom can do this as many other programs.

  In Lightroom, you would import the 600 images together, and when the import process is completed (this may take a few minutes or more depending on your computer), then you can scroll through each image and if you decide that it is a 'bad' image that you don't want to keep, press X, then go to the next image. Once this is done, you can delete all the photos that you have assigned X in a single action.

  Other programs will probably allow you to do this "spell" faster, but I can't talk about them.

• Could not open the Raw files of Mk II Canon 1DX in Lightroom 6 [was: Raw files]

  I gathered all my Canon 1DX MKII, I took some pictures on the new Cfast card, but 6 Lightroom couldn't import them because he couldn't read the raw files, I checked to see if there were updates and there is not. Is it because the camera is so new? Any help appreciated.

  You need to update to the latest version of LR, version 6.5, if the stand-alone version, or the 2015.5 for CC. What version 6 do you have?
