  First time posting here and I hope you guys can help! I just installed the Master Collection yesterday after using the suite Design Premium for quite a while. I just started a new document in InDesign and I just wanted to open some pictures and scans of Word in InDesign. However, after I click on file > open > "Proper case" there is a button on the window that reads "all readable Documents." This box is checked, but all the image files are "grey" so I can't select them. If I change the option mentioned earlier to "All Documents" files names is more "grayed out", but when I double click on a file I get an error (see attachment).

  I never had this happen before the images I want to open only from JPEG and PDF files? I need to get a project in tomorrow and now I'm worried. I guess it's something to do with the new facility, but I am at a loss...

  In InDesign, you import the images, using the file > place command, rather than open them. ID only opens files created in InDesign, everything else comes Place or copy/paste (which you should not do with images except from one place to the other in identity documents - paste from Photoshop, for example, only gives you preview low-resolution screen RGB and no way to change and be updated later).

  The "Save" button becomes available when you make changes to the file. If you come to open a file and make any changes to it (and this isn't a temporary file) then this button is disabled. This is how applications work.

• No option to save/open Pages files to the hard drive

  In the Pages on my MacBook Pro, I can access only now the iCloud.

  If I want to open a file, it only gives me those in the cloud, no way to navigate to those recorded on the real MBP.

  If I want to save a file, it only gives me the ability to save in the cloud, not for the real MBP.

  What you need to do is to go to control panel > programs > by default of the programs > set your default programs.   First of all, you are right in your new configuration that remote and testing server should not be in the same.  It is not a good habit to get.  However, without a test in place server, DW will only use the local file to test because you don't want to push the Webcam page live on the server until it is complete.  In this case, DW creates a temporary file that you can view on your local computer.  In general, it is recommended to have a test server, if that exists within your local environment with local installation of WAMP/MAMP or Windows Server.  Or a specified test server environment that is not accessible to the public where you can test.

  In addition, to save them automatically download to the server and overwrite the file direct download or not, those are 2 settings to DW within which can be displayed/hidden.  First of all, in the DW preferences, there is a setting for "Preview in browser".  In this context, there is a checkbox to choose whether to display a preview with a temporary file.  If you have no other choice then to use the server as a test platform, you probably want to check this box to preview using a temporary file rather than overwrite the direct file each time.  Then if you go to the server management and change your test server, go to the Advanced tab and uncheck the box for "check automatically download files on the server.  This will disable the download file automatically the file on the server when you save, allowing you to download only when you preview and test.

  To see thumbnail previews in Explorer (file open/save/etc dialog boxes are part of Solution Explorer, in fact) you will need a codec which includes the file format of raw (NEF) files.  Photoshop does not provide this functionality.
