the system svchost.exe uses 100% of CPU

When I open the Task Manager, I see that svchost.exe uses 100% of CPU and almost crashes my computer. I would appreciate anyone's recommendations to overcome this problem.

My OS is Windows XP Pro SP3 with IE8

There is a fix!

Manually download and install the KB2888505 fix: the link below.  It fixed this problem on my two XP systems!

  • Svchost.exe using too much cpu!

I have a Windows 2003 Media operating system, svchost.exe occupies almost all my cpu.  I tried to download the update, but I already have service pack 3.  Not sure why this problem arises now because it seems to be a problem that Microsoft fixed in 2007.  Help, please! I read that there is an agent 3 or something like that which solves the problem. What happens if anything do I need to download.  I will also try to see if the problem pops up in safe mode.  I'll look to see where the svchost is still running.

Download and run the "Process Monitor" freeware.  It's a task manager on steroids.  Find the svchost that uses all CPUS and place your cursor over the name of "svchose.exe".  A pop-up window displays all the services covered by it.  Go to the Services (start-> Run-> 'services.msc') screen, check for these services, and by a stop or pause these services while monitoring your CPU usage.  You should find it pretty quickly.

  • JRun.exe uses 100% of CPU

Someone at - it guidance on this issue.

Win NT2003 server using Apache + mysql DB CF8 Standard
JRun.exe has recently started using 100% of time CPU under the supervision of taskmgr

We thought it was related to the use of client variables and fill out the register, but having this application off and cleaned the registry from 500 MB to 18 MB! (also tried to use DB to store)

Have searched google - many examples of question in older versions of CF, but this issue is specifically with MX8

It is possible that some runaway process / application is causing the problem, but find it proves elusive, is it possible to get more information about coldfusion as what he does?

Coldfsion restart service solves the problem for about 2 hours, and then it happens again.

OK, the problem is resolved. For anyone who is interested. We have looked at Apache access.log and noticed a LARGE number of PROPFIND requests this narrowing it seems to open a word document in our CF application and then closing it caused a loop to implement.
Essentially, the closure of the doc he tried to open the index.cfm which redirected to home.cfm and returned to index.cfm somehow

Change apache configured to use home.cfm instead of index.cfm fixed the problem.

  • mscorsvw.exe using 100% of cpu - Windows xp

Yesterday my computer has finished 17 automatic updates.  Since then, my computer has been bogged down and keeps freezing.  The CPU is at 100% pretty much all the time.  According to me, there are 2 mscorsvw entered in the Task Manager.  I tried to stop him without success.  I followed the instructions to get to the command prompt, but it keeps giving an error message when I try to make the process of ngen.exe executequeueditems.

Thanks for your suggestion.  I tried everything without success.  Finally, I out my hard drive and installed as a second drive in another computer.  I then ran scans using Malware, Spybot and AdAware.  AdAware found 13 malicious infections, Spybot found one.  After that, it worked perfectly.

Also - I installed Revo Uninstaller (the pro version with a 30 day free trial) - and ran all components.  The program cleaned up the drive beautifully and it now works better than ever.

    • Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service

I tried setting services to manual, but Windows Media Player has yet caught all the CPU and memory, he could then I disabled all the.

    Hello

I think this explains the problem.  The 2 entries here should be deleted, because the first will try to index all of your user profile and the second will attempt to index all of the Windows Partition.

    C:\Users\Rick

    C:\

To remove them, click to the left of the entrance, highlight it, and then click Remove.  When these two entries have been removed, reboot the laptop and you should find that the problem has been resolved.

  • Svchost.exe (netsvcs) 100% cpu - update of Windows *.256 cause - update forever checks as does Defender.

Hi, I got 100% usage cpu choking my system Toshiba laptop L300 Vista 32-bit, cause - (netsvcs) svhost.exe in time real trouble was unknown and tried everything has failed. So I did a complete new installation and fully updated to SP2 then the next update and it required me to download the latest update to terminant.256. My system is now unusable with constantly check and update svchost.exe using 100% cpu. All is well until I start to WU and I restore prior to this Windows Update Agent... Also if I close just the update it is still short in the background using 100% cpu by svchost.exe (ntsvcs) until I have manually stop the service.

    I have:

Disabled Windows Firewall and Avast antivirus.

I tried all the things as well in safe mode.

    Installed costs.

Followed the instructions found on the net

In offline mode, downloaded and installed the latest update which is the same as that.

Whenever I have restore before this update, it works very well. The download of the update even if I have restore and install only the off-line version, it cripples even with 100% cpu and without end of audit. He made also Defender without end of audit.

How to fix something that is a solid wall. You cannot uninstall or go around it. If I restore before it, that's all I can ever be updated Vista.

I admit, I'm going nuts with this thing. I can't be the only one, it is 100% Windows update agent question.

They have started to issue updates, default update clients cannot manage. Under Vista, install all the missing updates listed in the table above to this page:

Here's what I use and recommend: (these are all free and very effective versions.)

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have
launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leave the file system, Web,.
Operational network (Script and behavior are also recommended in Ver 6 +).

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(It may temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom
    right of IE)

Two versions of Avast are available 6.x and 4.8 x

Avast - home - free - 6.x stop shields you do not use (except files, Web, network, &)
Shields of behavior) - double click on the icon in the Notification area - real time Orange - click on the
Shield that you want to stop - STOP. To stop the Orange icon to show an error indicator-
Click on the Orange icon - top right - settings - click on the status bar - uncheck shields you
    disabled - click OK
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Avast 4.8 x - home - free - stop shields, you don't need except leaving Standard, Web,.
and the network running. (Double-click the blue icon - look OK. - upper left - Shields details
    Finish those you don't use).
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download#TAB4

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here
or use Google to see how to remove.
    http://www.prevx.com/   <-->

Choice of PCmag editor - Prevx-
    http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

  • My CPU usage climbs to 100% & an application called iexplore.exe uses 99% of CPU time.

    Original title: iexplore.exe

When I activate "Task Manager", my CPU usage climbs to 100% & an application called iexplore.exe uses 99% of CPU time. This slows down my computer. I can turn it off without causing other problems?

After restarting in safe mode and then restart in normal mode, all is back to normal. Thank you!

  • Svchost.ext takes 100% of CPU

I ran AVG, Malwarebytes, and Windows Defender, and no problems are obvious, but the CPU works almost constant, when the computer is in use. Sometimes, the fan runs so fast and made so much noise that I put the computer on 'stand by' and restart just to calm down the fan. Once when the machine was left running and monitoring, the computer off itself for high-speed fan.  Thanks for any help

You need to determine which service is to take all your CPU and disable it.  Try the following...

    1. Download and run the "Process Explorer" from Microsoft.  It's basically a task manager on steroids:
      Process Explorer: <> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx >
    2. When you run Process Explorer, you will see the "svchost" instance that uses all of your CPU.  Place your cursor on the text "Svchost.exe".  A pop-up window will appear that will give you a list of Services that are running under this instance of svchost.  Sign for these services on a sheet of paper.
    3. Start up of the window (start-> Run-> "services.msc") Services.
    4. For each of these services you noted in step 2, find the service in the list, double-click it, and then click on "Stop" or "Pause."  If your CPU goes down to normal, then you have found the service giving you the problem.  If not, then restart or resume this service and move on to the next.
    5. When you have found the responsible service, you need determine how to manage it.  If it is a 3rd party application, then you may need to uninstall / reinstall this application.

I had a previous experience that 'Windows Management Instrumentation' will often peg my machine 100% of the CPU.  Usually, it is only for 10-15 minutes or more and then it returns to normal.

  • Explorer.exe and svchost.exe using too much memory

I have disabled the automatic updates after the last round of updates, and now, all of a sudden, explorer.exe and svchost.exe use too much memory... enough to interfere with other programs, I try to use.

    Help?

Windows XP Professional - Svc Pack 3 processor: Intel (r) Pentium (r) D CPU 2.80GHz CPU speed: 2.73 GHz memory: 512 MB

Why you turn off automatic updates?

There are between the two options. I just set it to notify. When it is practical, I go to the Microsoft Update slte and use the custom (not Express) option. This gives the user full control of the update of trial.

You will have a better idea of the cause of the problem using Process Explorer.

    Download Process Explorer.
For more information about Process Explorer, see here:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/SystemInformation/ProcessExplorer.mspx

With svchost.exe provide us a list of services using the process. There are number of processes that are using svchost.exe, so we need to know that we provide more targeted assistance. Right click on the process, click on properties and look at the Services tab.

Solution Explorer. exe has a number of subprocesses. Select the sub-process, click Properties and check the Services tab.

Have you recently changed all types of starting any service. This often leads to the problem. Users often disable a reflection of service to speed up the system performance. In practice what is done is of one or several programs to malfunction.

    Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

    Hello Rahul,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forum.

I understand that explorer.exe is using too many CPU resources. I'll help you with this problem.

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    2. what security software is installed?

    3. don't you make changes to the computer before the show?

To resolve this issue, let us try these methods:

    Method 1.

Advanced startup options (including safe mode): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

Run a full scan of the computer with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is virus-free.

Activity Monitor to stop smoking allows, until I opened AM again, I opened all the time. Allows you to restart, but it happens again and again, especially running iTunes.

    Any thoughts anyone?

Turn off the NAP. Most likely you don't need it.

Try each of them in order. A test to see if the computer works properly:

    1. Reset the PRAM
    2. Reset the controller (SMC) system management
    3. Start the computer in Safe Mode, and then restart normally. It's slower than a standard home.
    4. Repair the disk by booting to the HD recovery immediately after that the chime press the command and R keys until the Utility Menu appears. Choose disk utility and click on the continue button. Select the withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) volume entry of the list to one side.  Click first aid button in the toolbar. Wait the fact button appear. Disk utility and return in the Utility Menu. Restart the computer from the Apple Menu.
    5. Reinstall OS X by booting from the Recovery HD using the command and R keys. When the Utility Menu appears, select reinstall OS X and then click on the continue button.
    6. Download and install the update of OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 Combo.
