How to open the classic interface in Firefox, to find the Start button in Win8
I downloaded and installed the classic interface on my Asus laptop and I use Firefox. I aim to recover the Start button.
for Windows 8.
Cannot get the program to open 'shell' does not appear. The program is there (can be seen in "uninstall programs"), but he does not seem to open it. He speaks i.e. so maybe it won't work on Firefox? It does not come as an add-on "in Firefox.

My Start button is missing.
The Start button is missing in my taskbar. I am able to press the Windows button on my keyboard to make it appear a start menu, but only things in the Start Menu are three programs and work station. Other items that can be in it are now gone. The taskbar is there, but not there at the same time. There the launch fast and other elements in the corner. But I can not put the taskbar upwards or downwards or right click on it. When I open customize the office and try to pass the taskbar and Start Menu from there, this window does not load.
I was worried it was a virus and I tried to run the malware bytes to search all threats. Malware bytes failed due to an expansion of error and not being able to find a file. I went to the forum malware bytes and discovered that these errors are due to the start is not. Just to make sure of were not viruses, I ran combofix to check if there was malicious files on my computer and it found nothing.
I suspected that there may be a hardware problem, a bad sector on the hard drive. I ran a check disk before commissioning, diagnosis of hard disk by the BIOS and I got my hands on the recovery disk and checked another hard drive. No errors not found on the hard drive.
I tried to run the system restore, but it fails to restore from any restore point that I use.
I decided to give up and reinstall Vista on my laptop, but I got my laptop preload in my degree and I am a graduate for a long time and my product ID does not work. I decided to upgrade to Windows 7, but I could not find the download link for Windows 7 Enterprise (I currently run Vista Enterprise).
I now return to the first step, to try to determine a) why my Start button disappeared and b) what can I do about it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi mellolizard,

I had problems when I watch videos full screen on You Tube, then tried to play with the settings of the task bar and now I have my icons on the left side next to the Start button and can not add more!
Here's a few shortcuts "pinned" to the taskbar. Either drag a shortcut to the bar of tasks or right-click on a shortcut and select "Pin to Taskbar." If you do not have a shortcut on your desktop for a particular program, find the exe file (for example, C:\Program Files (x 86) \Microsoft Office\Office14\Winword.exe) and right click and select "Pin to the taskbar.

I have an emachines T6534 and whenever I start my computer, I would get an error stop 0 x 00000024. I ran chkdsk on my other computer with the hard drive and it seemed to fix the Blue error screen. But now, whenever I log in, it takes 15 minutes to log on and I can't access the files. The "Start" button does not appear or is the taskbar. I can run the Task Manager, but that's all. I have very important files on the hard drive and cannot afford to lose. I can't even open internet explore from the Task Manager. When I try to run the system restore, it says 'system restore is unable to protect your computer.
Please help me! Thank you very much.

The Stop 0 x 24 message indicates that a problem has occurred in Ntfs.sys, the driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system drives. A message similar to Stop 0 x 23, exists for the file systems (FAT16 or FAT32) file allocation table to.
Possible resolutions:
1. hardware malfunctioning SCSI and Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA) or drivers can also adversely affect the ability of the system to read and write to disk, causing errors. If you use SCSI hard disks, check the wiring problems and ending between the SCSI controller and the disks. Periodically check Event Viewer for error messages that are associated with SCSI or FASTFAT in the journal system or Autochk in the application log.
2. check that the tools that allows you to continuously monitor your system, such as virus scanners, programs of backup or disk defragmenters are compatible with Windows XP. Some drives and cards are issued with diagnostic software that you can use to run hardware tests.

original title: I wonder if it is possible to reverse the when it is on the left side of the screen so that the Start button is on the bottom instead of the top of the taskbar.
I have a laptop wide screen so I move the taskbar to the left for more vertical space. I was wondering if there is a way to return so that the Start button is on the bottom and all the small icons of notification are on top?
Hi Sparty11,
Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.
Unfortunately you can not return the taskbar to display the start menu to the basic button. It's normal. If you move to the left or right, in both cases the start menu button appears on the top left or top right of the task bar.
You can share your suggestions on tracking site.

close the option to stop/restart/switch users is missing from the Start button
For some reason, I have more option to stop/restart/switch user under the Start button. The lock button is there with an arrow, but the only option under this arrow is LOCK. How do I return these options? The only way I have to shut down the computer now is to use the button on the computer itself.
Simple terms only, please. I am a newbie of Windows. Thank you.
Restore point:
http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/
Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.
Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.
Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.
See you soon.

Original title: files missing error
Whenever I start the system complains that the following files are missing, c:\\Windows\System32\igfxpers.exe, igftray.exe and hkcmd.exe. Everything started after I ran scan and scan deleted some files infected. However, I can use the system. Where and how to download the missing files? Or how the system does not deliver messages?
Simon
Two of the three files are probably part of the malware infection and not the files infected. The third is probably the same details in this link:
http://www.Runscanner.NET/file/Hkcmd.exe.htmlTo identify what loads when you start using Autoruns (freeware from Microsoft).
http://www.Microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspxWith Autoruns, you can deselect an item which disables startup, or you can click with the right button on an item, then remove it. If you clear the check box that you can check back for re - activate the element. It is an approach much safer than editing the registry and better than using msconfig. You will find the three points and they will have a description 'file is missing' against everyone. Your antivirus software has removed the files, but not the startup entries in the registry. All you need to do is delete the entry using Autoruns to eliminate the error messages.
Another useful feature of the program is that you can click with the right button on an item and select search online to get information about the selected item.
