The ThinkVantage System update cause video to fail again T61

It is a sporadic problem and can't just to the probably of the machines from 1 to 10, but it happens nonetheless. I was imaging a significant amout of T61, and part of the cleaning is to run the Thinkvantage system update utility. Updates only I have installed are up-to-date XP, ann RL/updates to update and the update of the BIOS. The last time I ran the updates on a machine, they are ones I installed:

-Updated Help Center

-Q934205 XP

-Q910728 XP

-Q917332 XP

-Q941880 XP

-Q918837 XP

-Q889816 XP

-Q923293 XP

-Intel LAN 11abgn, abg, bg, for Windows 2000/XP

-Intel Pro/1000 Lan

-Updated the Director presentation

-Features video Thinkpad

-Update the BIOS

-Adobe Flash Update

On some machines, when I run updates and reboot, the video breaks down and I have to enter safe mode, back the video driver, then out to the Lenovo downloads and download the latest video and it works. Strange, huh? I do not always install the video features of Thinkpad, I just did on the last machine I've updated to try to recreate the issue, but have not yet been successful. I'll try the MS KB but thought I would try to post everything here first and see if everyone is seen/had this problem.

Let me know if you need more information

Thank you

-Tyler

Correction of the problem. I don't know how many people this would apply to the. I was setup machine to another when the question that's happened, but I copied the updates until I installed them. I installed 3 (Q923293, Q934205 and Q941880) and reboot, the video has failed. I looked at the edits, and Q941880 was the only one who had to do with the video. I restored on installed upgrading until (Q934205, I think) and viola! It worked. So, if anyone has this problem, he could have to patch XP-Q941880, so either roll back to before installation, or restore your video driver and install the last being directly from Lenovo.com.

See you soon

  • Impossible to uninstall ThinkVantage System Update

Hi I recently installed the latest version of the ThinkVantage System Update on my ThinkPad T61p and for some reason, the program does not work. It does not start, and when I try to uninstall, it does not uninstall either.

When I start the program, it gives me an error saying that:

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command = line sxstrace.exe for more details.

When I uninstall it gives error 1719.

I try to reinstall ThinkVantage System Update, it does not work either.

    Hi customer,

I'm glad to hear that, thanks for your update.

  • Ports required by the update ThinkVantage Retriever (TVUR) and ThinkVantage System Update (TVSU)

I need some documetnation which details the ports that are required for the update of ThinkVantage Retriever (TVUR), ThinkVantage System Update (TVSU) and ThinkVantage ThinInstaller work properly.

Bonus: Would be great a list of guests they link to.

In this business environment, we do not use a proxy server, but to put the other technologies to protect our potential end-users perpetrators and themselves.  Of course, it has its drawbacks.

One of those disadvantages is that TVSU and TVUR do not work properly (queries fail, can not download updates).  If we take this home machine run TVSU and TVUR, it works fine.  Clearly its an internal matter which should be corrected.

However, while our security and network management team is probably pleased to add the exclsusions, they will want to know what ports are used and perhaps what specific external resources we cannot reach.

    It's probably docmented somewhere?

    Hello

Extent of Lenovo knowledgebase article https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht002421 :

    • Make sure that ports 443 and 80 are open on your personal firewall or company.

but do not mention the host names or IP address ranges, you may need to make a capture of packets, similar to netflow, etc. to determine the servers at the other end.

  • ThinkPad t440p - how to change the language of "Thinkvantage System Update" from Japanese to English?

    Goodday

Is - it possible to change the installed language on "Thinkvantage System Update" from Japanese to English?

    Thank you! \m/

I think that something about configuration is left behind after uninstalling the existing version. I would try this:

New update uninstall in Control Panel.
    Restart the PC.

Then go into the folders SWTools, Program Files, Program Files (x 86) and the program data. Look for folders named "Lenovo" and related to the update system subfolders. You are looking for stuff that was left of the uninstall. Delete the subfolders.

Note, deleting stuff in the program data will probably take place in the system update, when you then run it, showing you all the stuff you've already seen and chosen to hide. The storage folder it is the record of all the things that the program sought on the Lenovo download site. So you'll have to decide again on all lists.

Once you have removed the remains, did not hurt to reboot once again and then go to the support page for the United States and the download system update it. Run the executable file and hope that it asks you the preferred language. See what's happening.

    Good luck.

WARNING: I'm just here improvise with that. The steps above are what I'd do.

There could also be that something flying in the Windows registry that is not removed, in which case you will have to search for it, too, but who knows how they are appointed. I don't.

Finally, you can always reinstall Windows and then load only these desired Lenovo applications. You can install the update system by itself - I do that - and not as a part of the whole of the suite of ThinkVantage tools and all that much more. I'm sure a reinstall of Windows and the applications manually should solve your problem, but it's a bit of work to do.

  • After running Thinkvantage System Update, unable to connect the wireless access point

I've recently performed Thinkvantage System update for updating various programs/drivers on my T61p.  I've updated the V5.12 access connections.  In addition to this I was required to update driver V1.52 power management and functionality of the shortcut key for

V2.10.0002 (two of them were the most recent available).

After these updates, I can connect is no longer to any access point wireless that worked before this update.  I have tried to reinstall earlier versions of Access Connections, but still couldn't connect to wireless access points.

    ANY help would be appreciated.

OK, problem solved.  I found that when I ran last weekend system update downloaded and installed an incorrect driver for my wireless hardware.  I installed the correct driver and now the connection to a wireless access point works.

Certainly, I don't understand how/why not update system would be to download and install an incorrect driver.  VERY FRUSTRANT and TEDIOUS!

  • Windows 7 and Thinkvantage System Update

ThinkVantage System Update 3.14 page says:

System 4.0 update works very well with Windows 7 RTM, but the 3.14 system update does not work with Windows 7 in all.

If the update 4.0 system with Windows 7 beta, I don't know since I've never used the beta version, but at least 4.0 supports Windows 7 so I suggest you just try and see if it works or not.

  • ThinkVantage System Update - bad language

I am running ThinkVantage System Update 4 (4.00.0030) on Windows 7 Pro x 64 and I have the same problem. The program uses the locale FORMAT for updates. It's the first option on the tab in the regional settings (not your regional setting an input language or your settings system locale locale). Why, I've found a good answer to this? The problem seems to persist since the first versions of the system update; We are at version 4... common! ?

You can actually replace the language GUI update system by changing the value of this registry key:

    For Win 7 x 64:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Lenovo\System Update\LanguageOverride

    For x 86 (32 bit) version, I think that's the key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\System Update\LanguageOverride

... in the language of your choice (EN, IT,...).

Unfortunately, it's just the GUI, not the language for system update will retrieve updated from the server. The program will always use your locale FORMAT for this.

I've read a lot of post on the topic but did not find a good solution. The language of software and downloaded drivers must be recovered according to the language setting of the operating system, not on the date, time, and number formats. If it's too hard to get the right setting of a multilingual system, why not just put a configurable language option? Is Lenovo will solve the problem?

For now, the workaround is to set stupidly regional setting in the 'language' Format you want before starting the system update and set it to your preferred format, when all updates are installed. A better idea?

P.S. A mod could rename and move this topic in the ThinkPad Forum, please, because I think it's more related to the software update system as the X series laptops

KEPT showing in Japanese even after uninstalling, affecting same language/region started English American, redownloading and put it back.  Registry change above is the only thing that fixed it for me.  He correctly set the default language to EN, but for some reason any just SU would not display in English.  This is a new installation of Windows 8.1 Pro Pack with Media Center English version with Japanese IME installed.  SU version 5.06.0007.  To be really a language setting in the program preferences.

PS: This thread is the first entry if you Google a solution to this problem.

  • ThinkVantage System Update failure

There is an unknown error with my ThinkVantage System Update since November. Whenever I try to update, it says it is "Impossible to connect to the Proxy Server. Can someone help me solve this problem? Thank you very much.

I had the same problem! I've updated most of my drivers manually, hoping that would solve the problem, but it didn't. The next update would be the BIOS but I couldn't see how this could be related. I thought a bit more and realized, that my computer has a pointing to my corporate proxy server automatic configuration script...

Solution: Tools > Internet Options > connections > Lan settings > Unclick "use automatic configuration script".

  • T440s lost Bluetooth after having installed the latest updated via the Lenovo system update

Hi everyone, my setup - Windows 8.1, Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7260 with Bluetooth built-in.

After the installation of the last packet of Intel's Bluetooth (via the Lenovo system update), I lost Bluetooth constantly.

-J' I tried to uninstall the update of the driver, nothing has changed.

-J' tried to restore through Windows Restore Point (I did a fresh restore point before you install these updates,) without success...

    I noticed that:

-When this happened, the fingerprint reader to are featured strange - there is no if light (with green light) initially, Windows, and Windows was asking me a password instead of the fingerprint.

-In the Device Manager. Bluetooth category disappeared (I was there before the upgrade - for sure.). but I saw a new unrecognized device whose name ends with something like "(de l'énumération n'a pas pu) '-this could probably be the Bluetooth card."

-L' tray for Bluetooth icon disappeared.

-The Bluetooth system option submenu and its devices in the Windows settings disappeared (and it was here before).

-Looking for Bluetooth in Windows 8.1 returned property (with Win + W hotkey) framework "set up Bluetooth devices" or similar, but when I clicked it, it couldn't access this option - just took me to the main configuration screen.

I had to do a restore of the system using Linux (thankfully made a full HD image backup of the HDD and SSD using Clonezilla readers - that was the only way to fix this-instead of complete reinstallation of Windows).

The only driver that works for me is the Intel version 3.1.1307.364 issued on August 1, 2013.

    -Anyone else had similar problems?

Apart from this, the Bluetooth disconnects always happen: see http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T440s-major-WiFi-and-Bluetooth-instability/...

Can someone give me some advice please?

    I need help with this.

I found a solution to this problem.

Apparently, installing bluetooth driver through update system does not install it properly.

So I downloaded the latest driver of Lenovo driver download page, and instead run autorun.exe, I sailed to 64-bit dir and then run the installation program.

    Everything works fine now.
