The use of the recovery on Satellite L655

Hello.

How do I use my Toshiba satellite l 655 recovery?

Is there any topic explain that
Thank you

I assume you mean on the Windows 7 that are preinstalled on the Satellite L655.
Am I wrong?

In case you haven't changed anything on this default system, drive HARD recovery must be possible.
In this case, I recommend check you this doc:
[How to recover a Toshiba laptop with the recovery disk (Win 7) procedure | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm]

You can also use the Toshiba Recovery disk to recover the laptop.
The recovery disc could be created using the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator software which is always pre-installed.

PS: all the details of this are mentioned in the user manual as well as in different threads here in the forum!

If you need a recovery disk, you have to options.
You can go to a local ASP and request a new or order you one directly from Toshiba.

Or you are using a Microsoft installation disc and download all the drivers from Toshiba tools but it takes a little more time.

  • Cannot use the recovery on Satellite P100-227 disc

I recently bought a laptop and decided to reset via the provided restore disc, to my surprise after having inserted the recovery disk and restart the notebook goes directly into Windows. Even if I went into the BIOS and set the CD/DVD drive as a starting point to the top, or even after pressing the F12 key.
When the laptop is turned on the drive says that there is no data on the DVD, a double click on the DVD, it says 'insert the media into the DVD drive.

My previous phone was a Toshiba Satellite 1900 303 and just to test and see if it was a problem with my recovery media, I've used the support of recovery on the P100 and it took me to the correct recovery screen. Then I swapped the media and used the recovery on the old 1900-303 Toshiba P100 and he returned to the correct recovery screen. This got me thinking so I tried a little more data CD / DVD and to my amazement it will read the DVD-R.

    No idea...

Have you tried to force startup from the DVD keeping C key after turning on the device?

  • Re: Cannot use the recovery on Satellite L505D partition

    Hello.

I am trying to help a friend with their Satellite L505D who had a serious virus problem. I wasn't able to run/install programs with the virus on it. I used a Microsoft tool to remove the rootkit trojan, but I always had problems with viruses. I also lost most of the programs on the computer. All folders were empty (except for some games), so I could not access all of the tools in this way. I could not the machine to load any Toshiba restore utility by pressing zero everything with power. I saw some recovery using F8 during the startup options and had a link to restore the original setting of Toshiba, but clicking that choice has done nothing else a break for a few seconds. I waited several minutes, clicked on it again, rebooted and tried. Nothing. As a side note, once all the while, the recovery partition was visible from explorer.exe. Not before or since.

So I reformatted the computer with a 64-bit Win7 Home Premium Upgrade disk (the partition of restoration by leaving intact) and then enter the key for the system. Supprise, supprise, it asks me to activate within 3 days.

My basic question is, can I access this partition recovery in a different way to use it? IE copy its contents, or start on some comand prompt to log e:?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    Hello

To be clear: there is only one way to use the saved on the HARD drive recovery image and install it.
Exact description step by step how you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

If this does not work, only way to do it anyway is to use the recovery DVDs. It is: has your friend created these disks?

  • How to partition the HDD using the recovery CD - Satellite P35-S6112

    Hi all

First of all, I've read tons of messages within this support site and then decided to open a thread.

    My laptop model Nr: P35-S6112
    Recovery DVD code: TK143/PMAE00127012
    OS: Windows Xp home edition

I'm trying to re - install the sytem with two disk partitions, but no luck. Recovery DVD (procedure) gives me no opportunity to separate the HDD in two different partitions, also commonly known as C and D when you reinstall the system.

Many experts support claim that appears during installation install two modes and (Expert Mode) allows the user to divide the hard disk into partitions.

Please, let me explain how to re - install.
(A-) I simply recovery dvd in the drive and start the dvd player.

B-) first black screen comes and asks confirmation to proceed for recovery (F1 means yes.)

C-) second screen with two warnings as described below.
1-) to ensure that the recovery CD/DVD is in the CD/DVD drive.
2-) keep the CD/DVD in the drive until you are prompted to rremove it.
Continue to press (C). To cancel press (A)?

D-) then I select (C) and the recovery procedure starts without asking me if I want to separate disk in different partitions. Then, installation ends and creates an entire C: drive.

I would like to know if this partitioning function is included in the recovery DVDs or should I have to pay for additional software separate my hard drive into two partitions of poor?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello

Recovery for laptops models European procedure is very well known to me, but I think you have a model of portable U.S. unfortunately I didn t see how it works for laptop computers in the United States, but I guess it must be similar to European models.

In any case if you say that you cannot use the installation in expert mode I believe you. If there is no way to use recovery media I recommend you use the Partition Magic software. It is a very powerful software and the use you can manage HARD drive and create clean partitions or change the ability of persistence of partitions already.

    Good luck!

  • NTLDR is missing after using the recovery disc - Satellite A100-493

    Hello

I come from Germany and I have a Toshiba Satellite Notebook, which I bought new in 2006.

After nearly three years, he started showing problems and slow, so I backed up my files and inserted the "Product recovery" CD that came with the laptop. I followed the Instructions and it began to unwind. After that about 1%, it displays a short Error Message, which I was not able to write down again and stops.

When I restart the computer says ist «NTLDR is missing, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart» When I do that it shows me the same "NTLDR is missing" Message, no matter how many times I reboot the thing.

I tried to redo the whole fotmatting, but it always comes out the same way. What di - I do?

It's very strange. If the recovery disk is not damaged the only reason for interruption of the installation may be faulty HARD drive or some problem there.
If possible, try to get Microsoft WXP CD facilities and try to install Windows XP Home edition.

I'm downgrading my laptop for Windows XP SP2 home edition.

A few weeks later I tried to Vista using the DVD recovery system which is included in the package when I bought the camera.

Do you have any idea how to use this recovery DVD?
It is any special program to activate the recovery DVDs?

    You already asked this here:

Secondly, as already described in different threads, you have to boot from the recovery DVD and this will begin the new installation image.

  • Installation operating system using the recovery disc - Satellite Pro U200

I bought just a U200 and took to rebuild so I understand how it works.

I have to reinstall from the recovery disk, I was wondering when the recover, there is a question on partitioning, I would partition a drive C and D, machine is when I would do, the question is asked to the amount of space to be allocated to the partition, if allotted jemti 20 GB I'd get a 20 GB C drive and a D drive on the 40 GB remaining?

    Hello

You are right. If you choose to 20 GB, it will create a 20 GB partition and this partition will be installed the operating system. When you start the second partition (40GB) preinstalled OS will be not visible and you must create a logical partition.

You can do if you start Computer Management click Disk Management. Click with the right button of the mouse on the partition marked black and choose the option to create the logical drive. Follow the instructions and the D partition will be created.

If you have any other questions, please write again.

  • How to avoid ruining the recovery on Satellite L550 partitions

    Hi all

I recently bought the Satellite L550/010. I'll put another OS on it, but I want to assure you that I can still retrieve its state of origin. It came with the following partitions:

First partition (1.5 GB): contains the directories 'Boot', 'recovery', 'System Volume Information' and 'bootmgr', file 'WinREPartition.ini '.
Second partition (454GB): looks like windows C:
Third partition (11FR): contains the directories 'bin', 'boot', 'images_boot', etc. and files 'bootmgr', 'data.ini', 'editaf.bat', etc.

    So, my questions:
What is the role of each of these partitions? Those who can remove and still be able to use the method of "restoration of the recovery partition? Who can remove and always use the method of "restoration of recovery disks?

    Thank you.

    Hello

above all, don't forget to make a recovery disk.

    > What is the role of each of these partitions?
    > First partition (1.5 GB)

This recovery utility that begins d image to local hard drive file recovery

    > Second partition (GB 454):

There is a partition where to install your current operating system

    > Third partition (11FR)
This is the folder of hard disk image to restore the factory settings of.

Installation of any other Os will move partition and you will not be able to restore the factory settings by using hard disk image file (F8 at startup). This is why I advise you to burn a recovery disk if you decide to install another Os. In this case, a recovery disk will restore factory settings

  • Crush the recovery on Satellite L750 partition

I've updated windows 7 Home premium to Windows 7 Professional. Please could you give me some tips to update (or replace) the recovery as well as Win 7 Pro partition becomes the default o/s, and all software and drivers Toshiba Satellite L750 are included (bluetooth and wireless software & drivers, etc).

I have already created a new system image on the recovery partition and a system repair disc.

    Supermalx.

    > can you tell me how to use the recovery discs to recover
The question is what you want to recover? The whole machine or only the missing files?
In any case, a partial recovery is not possible, all you can do is complete recovery image installation.

After the installation of portable full recovery you will have factory settings again, only in this case, you will be able to use without any problem recovery disc creator.

If you still have some questions you are welcome.

  • 'Bad Machine' error when I start the recovery on Satellite L10 media

    Hello...

I have a Toshiba Satellite L10-103 and I want to make the recovery, since I have constant errors and my wireless does not work.

When I put on CD, everything is ok, I press F12 and get the choice when I want to access computer. I select the CD/DVD drive. That produces the recovery starts and I get this error message:

"Wrong Machine! This software is designed for personal computers TOSHIBA '

    What's wrong with it?

    Hello

Are you sure that the recovery CD you are using is designed for Satellite L10 - 103 to 110%?
    Please check this!

But if you use the same recovery CD that came with the laptop, and you still get the same error message, then the false DMI information that is stored on the motherboard might be responsible for this error message and might prevent to recover.

This can occur if the motherboard has been replaced and that the technician has not updated the DMI string.

  • How to get the recovery for Satellite L100 bought in China cd?

I just buy a satellite L100 in China, the language of windows is Chinese... How can I change the language to Chinese to English on my windows. Or how can I get thecd recovery for satellite L100 innglish language... Thank you...

    Hi Santo

If you use the advanced search of this forum you will find a lot of comments on a similar theme!

In any case, I'll explain it once more ;)
Usually the recovery CD, you can get the Toshiba ASP. BUT you bought the laptop in China. In this case you will not be able to order the CD image of Toshiba in the English language. You can only get a restore CD in the same language, where you bought the laptop.

But if you want to have the English language operating system, install the Windows from the original CD of Microsoft English.
You can download Toshiba drivers and utilities form the Toshiba site and install it.

  • How to turn off the LCD on Satellite L655-1JV?

    Hello!

I have a * Toshiba Satellite L655-1jJV * and I would like to know how I can * turn off the LCD screen *. I tried to use the F5 key, but it does not give me the option to change (always the LCD on except if I connect an external monitor.)
Of course, I mean, turn off the lcd screen so that, for example, I rose from the monitor, and I'm listening to music...

I'm really looking for the answer!

In s manuals document is clearly described when you use the FN + F5 key combination and has nothing to do with it turn off the LCD screen.

If you need not display and it should be OFF while you listen to music please change the display settings in power options. In the power settings, there is option turn off the screen. Set it to 1 minute and everything will be OK.
