  I downloaded Firefox, then added tree style tabs and colourful tabs after which I powered off for the night.   I had this problem, but it was because I had two tree Style tabs and Vertical both installed. Once I removed the vertical tabs, the gray bar went away.

  Ads can be inserted by bad Add-ons. Because these are often installed outdoors for Firefox, I suggest starting here:

  Move the cursor over the video.  Right-click.  Click on settings, click on the box "don't ask again". And then click Close.  This will work.

  Found the problem. WOT installs a theme found in toolbars customer, is returned to the default theme of Firefox and it disappeared.
