  There are two ways to access the engine.

  The first way accesses the engine through the Java or .NET API. To make the Flex will be able to make direct calls to Java or .NET.

  The second way is through the determinations Server Web Service. Determinations server is specifically designed to provide a large grain end access to the engine rules, through XML/SOAP over HTTP. Assessment service is a way without decision-making status (namely:-data in--> answer to). Maintenance service provides a way to create a more dynamic experience (IE, create a session, add/modify the data, get the screens to answer questions)

  Flex can call Java or .NET API directly then, you can use the API to the engine if you need to run the server of determinations as a remote web application and access, the engine using the service to assess or maintenance.

  Looks like Flex certainly has support for calling web services, which suggests that the approach of Determiantions server would work. A quick google for Flex, Java and .NET looks like access to Java and .NET is always done through web services.

  Oh and sorry for the double post. I didn't know there was a separate instance of the FMS.

  I use the video display component, but there is no "on-line" property. Try what setting to true. If it still does not work, try to remove the name of the stream of the .flv extension.

• FlexUnit4 with Flex Application compiled with Flex SDK 3.0?

  The Flex application that I work on is compiled with Flex SDK 3.0.

  Now I want to unit test this application using FlexUnit4.

  I'm not able to find that flexunit4 for Flex SDK 3.0 in downloads page (http://www.flexunit.org/?page_id=14).

  So I decided to download the FlexUnit 4 source code and compile it using the Flex SDK 3.0.

  I downloaded the source code of the page of downloads (http://github.com/flexunit/flexunit/).

  I need help in the compilation of the projects. I want to know what are the configuration changes that I need to run the build.xml ant task in my local machine.

  Since Flash Player 10, you can read/import local files of your application by using the FileReference class standard, so the final answer - it is possible, but you should target your application on FP 10 +

  I saw some online options to convert powerpoint into Flash files and then read/manipulate them presentations.

  Now, I created a presentation tool (the tool will open with a projector) with Flex and would create an option where users can browse for a powerpoint presentation and navigate through the slides, all in the Flex application.

  I hope this makes sense

  Flex can't connect to native applications such as Powerpoint, so you'll need either to manipulate the binary file data and is perhaps difficult, if not impossible, or you will need to contact some other technologies on the server to actually make the changes. Not perfect, but it's the only way.

  [#] Display a datagrid of records from a MySQL database. Each record has a button [attach Image] to allow users to download a JPG/GIF/PNG file associated with this record.
  [#] Once the user clicks on the [join Image] button, a popup panel allows the user to search his machine to an image file and then click on [Attach].
  [#] If the image does not stop in the JPG/GIF/PNG extension, it stops and gives an error; Otherwise, it goes to resize the image to the width of 200px (leaving the headroom) and uses the ID of the record to save the file on the server.
  [#] It then displays a thumbnail of the image with the record with a text saying that the operation was a success.

• Sharing of CFCS with Flex projects

  I am building a large application that runs our company to replace the old CF/Flash app that I built myself over the past 6 years.
  I use Flex and Cold Fusion CFCS to build the application from scratch.
  This application will consist of 100 lots of smaller applications that handle:
  User management, inventory, specifications, contracts, invoices, missing reports and damage, racing truck etc.
  
  First of all, I built our ordering system, and then I built the system of inventory.
  I built as separate Flex projects and saw that they used a lot of the same CFC (that I created in each project) and that down the line, I have to change many CFCS and Actionscript (models) if valuables projects I made any changes to the tables of database they called.
  
  I want to create a set of objects of value of CFCS and Actionscript can be used by any project I'm doing on this site.
  
  I create these CFCS and files as with "Create CFC" Wizard of Cold Fusion.
  
  I have seen that I have to change the way I worked in separate projects.
  
  I thought to do a Flex project with many applications in it, but it seems that it fits well over time and could become a mess.
  
  It seems to me that in order to make a library Flex project that stops my .as models files and I might add that the library to each project, but I don't think I can call CFCS in this way.
  
  I could make and publish a Flex project that does nothing but keep the EFA and point my call of remote object to this project but I would not be able to call the .as files, unless I've referenced this project and this solution began to feel like one of my hacks classics that would be a bad choice over time
  
  Any advice on the errors of global architecture that I do and how I should build to put these assets available to all of my projects/scheme?
  

  If you want to use the same as classes in several projects, you certainly want to use a Flex library. Your ActionScript classes will be back in a SWC that you can use in the libraryPath of any another Flex project.

  I create and maintain CFCS separately of Flex projects. The reason is that you need to treat them as if you bought them from a third party and want to keeping them on a separate development cycle. For example, A project moves to version 1.5 and needs a change to one of the CFC. You don't want to have to deal with project B who always uses the version 1.0. If you were to buy these CFCS starting from somewhere, how would you be excited? Use it as a guideline.

  Your commune THAT classes that are the counterparts of CFC probably not say much without CFC. So I would include in this library Flex an interface class (RemoteObject) with CFCS that the EFA is independent. Once again, if you need to add or change an AS file in response to a change in the CFC, you have better version control keep these together. Yet once, treat it as a third-party product.

  If your library Flex (in the FORM of classes + RemoteObject calls) now becomes your API for your applications.

  One final note: your projects seems ideal for Flex 2.0.1 Modules. I wrote them a quick presentation on my blog and you can read more about them in the Flex livedocs under creating modular Applications..

• Flex Charting 2 with Flex Builder 3

  I recently inherited a codebase that was built on Flex 2 and uses the Flex 2 graphics component. Flex Builder 3 is the only version of the currently available constructor, so what I use, but with "Flex 2.0.1 Hotfix 3" set compiler option.
  
  My problem is that the 'Flex Charting Trial' watermark will still appear on my paintings. I tried to set my Builder serial number 3 in the license.properties file as described in some documents, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
  
  My license of Flex Builder 3 Professional gives the right to me to use the graphics component?
  
  If so, the serial number of my Builder 3 should work for Flex Charting 2?
  
  If not, where can I acquire the necessary serial number?

For any other person who suffers from this problem, the resolution is that you need a valid serial number Flex 2 w/graphics to be placed in the file '\sdks\2.0.1\frameworks\license.properties ' on the line ' graphics ='.»»

  To answer my own previous questions:

  Yes, Flex Builder 3 is supposed to give right to me to use the Flex Charting (which is integrated with Flex 3, but was an addon in Flex 2).

  No, the Flex Builder 3 series does NOT work with Flex Charting 2. You need a serial number w/Flex 2 charts.

  To anyone in this position, I would recommend opening case support tech via the web support portal and politely explaining your situation. It took a few days, but when I finally got someone who could help, the resolution was quick.

  I am going through the tutorials that come with Flex Builder 2 and cannot get the custom components to work. Projects that have custom components defined in their compilation OK, but I get a runtime error: Error #1009 cannot access a property or method of a null object reference...
  
  Everything works OK, when I open the .swf file but fails when the .swf is embedded in a html wraper.
  
  If anyone has an idea of what I'm doing wrong, I'd really appreciate hearing it.
