ThinkPad 8 20 billion

Good evening everyone
I recently bought a Lenovo ThinkPad 8 20 billion model and having to use in combination with instrumentation, I thought to buy a ThinkPad Digitizer Pen to be faster in the selection of operations in the various menus.
Well after being acquired the pen from the digitizer ThinkPad I realized that it does not work on my Tablet for this I have one to ask for a helping hand to determine if this account is not really compatible with the need tabelt or perform installation, or even if there at - there no similar product

I apologize to all for the language used by the google translator

Thanks in advance to all

ThinkPad 8 does not support the pen from the digitizer. The models ThinkPad selected 10 supports only.

Regarding the menus in Office mode, I can recommend the wireless bluetooth mouse. Using 150% zoom I can use the menus of the touchscreen without any problems, it takes just a little time to learn to "focus" the touch of the finger the right menu item.

Most of the time I use it in 'metro' Windows which is better 8.1 mode optimized for touchscreens.

  • Cannot move the Favicons in toolbar - it just won't let me, even if it works on my identical thinkpad. On this laptop, it turns into a new tab.

Although it works on my other thinkpad (which is identical to this one), yet when I try to drag website Favicons to the General on this thinkpad toolbar to use as a shortcut, a circle with a diagonal line displays, and when I try to drop the toolbar, a new tab opens to the top, instead of display the mozilla.org Favicon.

So why it works on my other identical thinkpad, but not on this one? I bought two of them used. Obviously, certain factors on this thinkpad is not allowing it. Note that this laptop has AVG like antivirus, instead of MSE and perhaps also other differences of software.

I think that it only works if you drop the site in the bookmarks toolbar. Despite its name, the bookmarks toolbar can be on its own line or can drag them to another bar. Maybe it's that it has been customized differently on the two installations of Firefox.

  • My Lenovo ThinkPad(red scroll) scroll function does not work in the new Firefox 4. It worked very well at point 3.6. Can you please fix this because it is a very important feature.

(Middle button) scroll feature does not work on the new firefox 4. For this reason, so I need to move the scroll bar to move the page. It's very irritating problem, if you are a guy who uses the middle button to scroll. Can you if you please fix this...

    Thank you!!!

I've updated to Firefox 4.01 today and the Center knob on my Lenovo T400 does more. I downloaded the updated Ultranav utility and the Ultranav driver for my T400 by http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-72858.html , then uninstalled the 'Thinkpad Ultranav Driver' to add/remove programs, rebooted and then installed the update utility and driver (another reboot) and now it works perfectly.

So happy to get it working again.

  • ThinkPad Tablet 10 1nd Pen Pro

    Hello

can I use the Thinkpad Pen Pro with a Gen Thinkpad Tablet 10 1nd?

    Thank you

No, sorry, you can't. The Pro of the pen of Lenovo is an active pen (it has an AAAA battery inside) and uses the AES of Wacom technology.

ThinkPad 10 uses technology of Wacom EMR and the pen of Lenovo (part No. 00HW280) is a passive EMR pen. Pens of third parties who use Wacom EMR technology should also work.

  • Update the series/model number in the BIOS (ThinkPad 2nd Gen Helix)

Hello! I have a ThinkPad 2nd Gen Helix (model 20CG000QUS), I replaced the motherboard in (because I'm with a Lenovo authorized service depot), but I'm unable to update the series/model number in the BIOS. I tried the utilties USB and bootable diskette and nor will not work (I can't boot from either one sense). This is despite me turning off the Secure Boot option in the BIOS. When I enter my credentials for the key to maintenance/diskette, I find the download ok in, but on the page for the supported systems for this key maintenance/diskette, the Helix model I have is NOT LISTED. I tried to update using other utilities and I get the words of INVA LID, and I can only replace the "LID". So, basically, I'm stuck.

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  • Yoga: S1 ThinkPad won't start, only the light flashes three times.

So I just bought a refurbished Thinkpad Yoga and everything was great for a little while. So I decided to stop it and put it aside for a few minutes. After coming back, he now refuses to even POST. I tried each power cycle I could think of, in various combinations and traveled several forums. At the end of the day, I have no functional solution.

    Current situation:

System responds in any way other that 'i' (in the Thinkpad logo) light flashes three times when the charger is connected, or even when you press the reset button while the charger is plugged. Another illicits nothing any kind of beep, light, or otherwise.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you and best regards.

I have the feeling that you had opened the back cover of tinkering with components (whether a change of SSD or the modem 3g / 4g).

the symptoms you described sounds exactly like a cut cable MB. You can try opening the hood back and on the left side, you will see a wire labeled "MB". tighten, and the computer should fit now.

  • ThinkPad T450s Review

    Introduction

The ThinkPad T450s is one of the best new ultrabooks. If it is not as slim as some, it is still quite compact and easier to service than the thinner machines and screen Full HD IPS is a standout feature.

This review is based on a ThinkPad T450s, 20BX Type of Machine production, product ID 20BXCTO1WW.

    • Intel Core i7-5600U processor
    • 8.1 Windows Pro 64
    • 14.0 "FHD (1920 x 1080)
    • Camera HD 720 p
    • Intel HD 5500 graphics card
    • 4 GB DDR3L - Base of 1600 MHz SDRAM
    • Fingerprint reader
    • Hard drive 500 GB, 7200 RPM, 2.5 "
    • ThinkPad battery 3 cells Li-Polymer (23.2Whr) before
    • ThinkPad battery 3 cells Li-Polymer (23.2Whr) rear
    • Country Pack 45W in the United States (2-pin) adapter
    • Intel 7265 AC/B/G/N Dual Band Wireless + Bluetooth Version 4.0

    From the receipt:

    • 4 GB Samsung SO - DIMM has been installed
    • Hard drive has been replaced with 1 TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD.

    Construction

T450s build quality isn't old ThinkPad level, with a clear devaluation, but is still very good. Problems include the difficulty of dislodging the lower lid (after removing the 8 screws) for joining plastic textured inside and fingerprinting, revealing instead of the old finish rubber. But it is quite solid, no bending and quite compact.

    Connectivity

Port is good enough on both sides with nothing on the back. All USB ports are 3.0 with excellent performance. But Mini DisplayPort means you need to maybe buy and carry a dongle of easy-to-lose. Performance of the Wi - Fi connection (802.11ac Intel 2 x 2) seems better than previous cards Intel generation 802.11n, even those with 3 x 3. Bluetooth connections are fast. The speakers are decent, but nothing to write home about. Quality of the webcam is improved over previous generations, but still struggles in low light. Fingerprint reader is a great improvement. (Thanks, Apple.)

    Performance

The good news is that the i7 T450s finally turns out to be a bit faster than the i7 Sandy Bridge (T420s) on the tasks of processor such as video encoding, despite a processor intensive ultra low voltage a bit more slowly. The machine is cold and silent most of the time, with only a gentle breath of air under high load.

    Memory

4 GB of memory is soldered to the main Board and there is only a single SO-DIMM location. While you can add a 8 GB SO - DIMM for 12 GB total, that would mean that half of the memory could run in single channel mode, which can have a very important impact on the performance (as much as 20-30%), especially since the graphics adapter integrated uses part of the main memory (memory available). So if you care about performance, you need to stick with 8 GB, which can be marginal for things like video editing HD Ultra. (The impact on the performance, of course, also applies to machines with only the Basic 4 GB of memory. The promised NVIDIA 940 M graphics option is not yet available.)

    Screen

The IPS 1920 x 1080 screen can take some getting used to, but is really much better than TN screens and is close enough to a calibration right out of the box. (Remember to burn on the screen for at least 24 hours before making any justice.)

    Keyboard

The keyboard of the island is pretty good for what it is, but the provision still suffers compared to the classic ThinkPad keyboard. Homepage layout end delete and PrtSc are poor and other keys like Pause/break are missing entirely, now only available as Fn combinations (such as Fn + B for Break) that are not marked on the keys. Also annoying is the lack of status lights of the hardware (your hard drive, Wi - Fi, Bluetooth, load connection). You can count on the Windows taskbar for wireless and in charge, but you will need to install something like DiskLED (which works well) to the disk activity. Keyboard backlight is usable (despite some annoying light crosstalk between the top row), but not as good as the classic ThinkLight.

    Power

With just the standard 2nd battery, not long battery life with big bulge on the bottom, the T450s still usable on and off by a day without running out of battery power. The power adapter provided is quite small, but only 45W, cannot quickly fresh when the system is under load. If you care about fast charging, you should get the Slim 65W adapter.

    Summary

A return for most welcome to your ThinkPad, with a very good IPS screen and finally enough power processor ultra low voltage measure to the Sandy Bridge.

Belkin Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter is available at low cost from B & H.

  • ThinkPad with transflexive, outdoor screens

    Hello

I want to replace my R51 with something a bit faster and lighter (T400, T61, X...).
One of the most important features for me on the R51 is transflexive screen.
The screen is readable in full sun with minimal background light.

What current Thinkpad has one of these screens? According to the HP that
    function disappeared from all Thinkpads?

Note: I'm not a very bright screen which eats the battery and always fails if
the Sun is too strong, I want a transflexive screen that everything just works.

    Thank you

What you are referring is commonly called a FlexView LCD, or IPS. The ThinkPad only available currently is X 61 Tablet.

The last full-size machines offered with these were T60 and T60p, in 4:3 format of 15 ". Resolution on T60 is always SXGA + (1400 x 1050), while the first units T60p had 1600 x 1200 (UXGA) and the last ever made SXGA +.

Some of these machines left the factory with Core 2 Duo CPU, but even those who do not can be upgraded to it. While you can install 4 GB of RAM in a T60/p, the chipset will be able to address 3 GB, regardless of the OS.

    I hope this helps.

  • ThinkPad E550: External monitor blinks constantly during the recharge of portable

When I'm running my Thinkpad E550 and I connect it to any external monitor with a VGA cable, the external monitor blinks constantly as the external monitor can be used to do any significant work.

However, when I remove the charger, the constant flashing stops and the external display could be used if the screen still flickers / flashes for about 4 seconds every 50 minutes or more.

Unfortunately, using the laptop on battery power all the time is not healthy for the battery of the laptop but it is the choice that I have if I need to use an external monitor.

I tried to use an adapter 2 components for connect the monitors but I still feel the flicker until I remove the charger.

Does anyone have a solution? Thank you.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga X 1 touch screen does not work

    Hi all

I just bought a brand new Thinkpad Yoga X 1 and out of the box, the touch screen is not recognized by windows and no entry through fingers or via pen works.

I would be very happy if someone could tell me if it's just a wrong settings or if the laptop is faulty.

    Thank you in advance,

    Hello Peter,.

Thanks for your quick response. Unfortunately, it was not a software problem, but the dealer that I bought traded without any hesitation and now I have a new unit that works like a charm.

  • Upgrade memory ThinkPad G40

    Hello

I hope this is the right place to ask some Q on the IBM thinkpad G40... My son bought a second hand G40 a few years back. He had / has only 256 MB of memory. Now I want to improve the memory and I scanned the relevant web pages of Lenovo. Apparently the memory should be PC2100 or PC2700 may be due to the availability of PC2100? (DDR)

Now a run on this laptop cpu - z indicates the memory is PC2300 (142 Mhz), so what gives? This was put in to be the good side or?

and an extra Q... memory modules can be mixed? IE add a 512 MB PC2100 sodimm for 768 M? or I have to delete the original 256M and go for 2 x 512M?

    TIA

    Imbsysop

You can certainly plug 1 additional GB. And what a difference it will make...

  • ThinkPad 13 - OSD - no boot pxe with ethernet dongle?

We have just received a new kind of model in our catalog and I know it is not built-in ethernet port, so we use a usb dongle ethernet. On the machine, it has 3 x USB 3.0 ports. I put the Intel USB 3.0 driver 10.0.10.255 (eXtensible Host controller) and boot on the usb startup key. After WinPE is run the dongle (usb) ethernet must receive an ip address which it won't.

The BIOS setting boot only passes of UEFI/Legacy to "legacy".

    My dongle ethernet (4X90E51405) is installed as-> "Thinkpad USB 3.0 adapter Ethernet" (RTL8153.ndi, USB\VID_17EF & PID_7205 & REV_3000)

I removed the usb 3.0 extensible... driver starting the system of image because it doesn't do anything. It is only the driver for the ethernet dongle that solved my case-> https://support.lenovo.com/be/en/documents/pd029741

Change the boot method 'only legacy' wasn't the answer either so I changed all the default values.

Last week, I bought a new laptop. T450s thought through some forums and learned that Lenovo themselves send the laptop with some malwares / spywares on it... like, Lenovo Customer Feedback program 64, Superfish, etc. etc.
