ThinkPad X220t - how to increase FPS and game performance?

Hi all

I have question about how to increase the frames per second for purposes of gaming performance.  I have a Lenovo X220t ThinkPads with a processor i7 with 8 GB of RAM and graphics card by default. Sometimes, I use the computer for games even if it is not specifically designed for this.  I have a problem so far with most of the games, but some of the games that are more graphic intense tend to be slow and have a FPS very low.  I know that the main reason for this problem is that the built-in graphics card is not designed for serious games, but I'm looking for advice or tips that will help.  For example, disable the ability of the touchscreen would increase game performance? Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Cole

p.s. other than this computer game has exceeded all my expectations. Excited use really touch Windows 8 features.

  • Upgrade Vista 32 and 64 for the recognition of additional memory and game performance

    I have a question for the computer.  I have a HP Pavilion Elite m9040n who has Windows Vista 32 - bit SP2 with 3 GB of memory.  From what I've been able to determine, the 32-bit version doesn't recognize up to 3.5 GB of memory and I need to install the 64 bit version of Windows Vista for additional memory can be installed AND recognized.  This system comes with the Core 2 Quad Q6600 (K) 2.4 GHz, at 1 066 MHz front side BUS and Socket 775.

    My question - would be upgrade to Windows Vista 64-bit and install another 4 GB for a total of 7 GB of extra memory for increased game performance.  Also, I have a graphics program which because of some image sizes (up to 96 inches - 19200 pixel everywhere) program that the bombs on me with "out of memory" messages.  I play World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2 right now.

    Thank you.

    In your case a newer graphics card improve performance much more compared to buying new RAM. You can then add more RAM. "A programmer is just a tool that converts the caffeine in code" Deputy CLIP - http://www.winvistaside.de/

  • How to increase SGA_MAX_SIZE and PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET in 10g RAC

    All,

    We built the new RAC environment with the following configurations.

    Linux - RHEL5
    Oracle - 10.2.0.4.0
    2 node RAC environment.

    The database is now live.

    1. now, I need to increase the SGA_MAX_SIZE and PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET in this RAC environment.
    Can anyone tell me the steps. Do I need to stop the database?
    Note: Always OEM is not setup for this one.

    2 performance testers are complaining about "high response time. No indication on this one?

    1. now, I need to increase the SGA_MAX_SIZE and PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET in this RAC environment.
    Can anyone tell me the steps. Do I need to stop the database?

    You have to stop database... When you change the sga_max_size initialization parameter.
    But you need to check on kernel.shmmax (all nodes) before
    # sysctl - a | grep shmmax
    kernel.shmmax = xxxxx

    If you need more... and you have a lot of physical memory ;)
    You can modify /etc/sysctl.conf and then "sysctl Pei" kernel.shmmax as you said Mufalani.

    SQL > alter system set sga_max_size = new_size sid ='* ' scope = spfile;
    or
    SQL > alter system set sga_max_size = new_size sid = "DB1" scope = spfile;

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams192.htm#REFRN10198

    Furthermore, if you need new dimensions on LMS, you must change the parameter initialized so SGA_TARGET.
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams193.htm#REFRN10256

    You cannot change... no stop on PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET,

    SQL > alter system set PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET = new_size sid ='* ';
    or
    SQL > alter system set PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET = new_size sid = "DB1".
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams157.htm#REFRN10165

    When you replace "sga_max_size"... spfile, you need to stop/start database, I think
    You should stop/start a front knot (don't make sure no error)... and stop/start another node on the other.

    Example: 2 nodes (racdb1, racdb2)
    Check shmmax 2 nodes
    # sysctl - a | grep shmmax
    kernel.shmmax = 8G

    SQL > create pfile = ' / tmp/pfile-backup ' of spfile;
    SQL > alter system set sga_max_size = 8 G sid ='* ' scope = spfile;

    $ srvctl stop d racdb-i o racdb1 immediate instance
    $ srvctl start instance racdb d-i racdb1

    If error... Check the log of alerts on racdb1 and solve (remember to also change "SGA_TARGET"), if no error stop/start on racdb2

    $ srvctl stop d racdb-i o racdb2 immediate instance
    $ srvctl start instance racdb d-i racdb2

    Date of arrival:
    Select * from v$ sgainfo;
    Select * from v$ sga;

    PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET you can... (no power DB)
    SQL > alter system set PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET = 2 G sid ='* ';

    2 performance testers are complaining about "high response time. No indication on this one?

    Use ADDM + AWR or Statspack...
    make the snapshot on each node of the CWA and reporting during the test.

    Also "High response times" are based on
    -Index
    -partition tables
    -High interconnect (NIC)
    -Disk RAID...
    -Variable SQL (if using the same on OLTP sql statement)
    and...

    Good luck

  • How to increase the fps on an animation made in Premiere pro?

    I am trying to create a panoramic photo of a painting. I have my keys in place images, but it is very choppy. I want to increase my fps on the animation, but I don't know how. I searched for some time and I can not find the answer anywhere.

    I got the pace of the metadata tab.

    I understood why the animation done at 10 frames per second. It turns out that the first clip that you import into first will set the fps for your animations. I brought in a clip that took place at 10 frames per second that I was going to speed up. To remedy this, I brought in a clip that had 30 FPS and then added my other clips. Now, the animation runs as 30 frames per second.

    There must be a way to change the fps after that you already have in your clips but I don't know what it is. For now, I'll make sure to bring in a clip with the fps I want before I put it in my other clips. You can go back and remove the clip with the fps high and the fps, that the animations will run won't change.

  • Re: Satellite L500-19Z - how to increase the performance of the game?

    Hey

    Basically, I have a Toshiba Satellite L500-19z, with chipsets Intel Series 4 express. I know this isn't a particularly good game, but surely the performance of game should be reasonable?

    I get 80% of the time lag - while on my old laptop (which costs no more than £200) I could play World of Warcraft on it no problem (I played the Sims3 on this laptop and had very few problems. I'm playing Dragon Age, but it is almost impossible.) My laptop is not more than 8 months old.

    I just want to know if there is a way to increase the performance of the game? I thought that maybe to connect my laptop to a PC Tower, but that could lead to the worst game performance, so I said.
    I'm sure I can't replace the graphics card, I've updated my drivers, defragment disks and so on.

    Any help is really appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Hello

    Is there anything to do to increase game performance. It depends on the graphics card and Intel cards are not designed for games, they are a good choice for mobile use because they don t need a lot of power.
    In addition, the peut t graphics card be exchanged, s thereby.

    It s always depending on the game that you can play. Therefore, check the system requirements of all the games you want to play and if your graphics card is supported. Not all games support all graphics cards.

    You must also use low graphics settings in each game. You can use the parameters of t.

    For example on my Satellite U400, possessing the same Intel graphics card, I can play Half Life 2 which has already 5 years but always low medium graphics settings.

  • How to reset many Solitaire games played and won Matches of the counters?

    How to reset many Solitaire games played and won Matches of the counters?

    Hi Keith,

    Found an answer for Vista, that should work for you in Windows 7.

    To reset the game statistics, you must delete some files. These files will be re-created automatically the next time you play the game. The files are located in the following location: 'C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Microsoft Games\ [game]", where [username] is the name of your account and [game] is the name of the game (in your case, Solitaire). Just delete the contents of the folder, but DO NOT delete the folder itself.

  • How to cancel a "save game" that keeps returning to Freecell and Mah Jong Titans?

    My Freecell and mah jong games titans keep bringing the same games saved once - I can't move. Is it a virus or what?

    I had this problem also. I have Windows 7. I found a solution that worked for me.

    I went into 'Control panel' and chose 'features of the program. I selected "turn Windows features On and Off". I removed the check mark from FreeCell under games. I left the 'control panel '.

    I then did a search for files on my computer for the word "freecell". My goal was to find that everything about "FreeCell" and remove it from my computer. I found a folder in 'My music' which had a subfolder named \SavedGames\Microsoft Games\Freecell.  (I have no idea how it got there and I think you might find the folder anywhere, not necessarily in my music.) I deleted this file. I also removed the icon in my Dock of Windows FreeCell. I did a search on the word "freecell" again to make sure that nothing was left. Research found without any reference to 'freecell.

    I then back to 'control panel '; chose "features of the program." seclected "turn Windows features on and Off"; and well, put a check mark next to FreeCell under games.

    It worked for me.

    You need to reinstall... 32 to 64-bit is a change of platform and requires a clean installation. Data are stored in Windows.old

  • Cannot read print because the contrast is to light. How to darken print and highlight boxes to increase the contrast?

    When I'm reading emails or check applications footprint is so slight, that I have a difficult given the impression. Any suggestions on how to increase the contrast would be appreciated.

    Hello Annette,.

    Some possible solutions for you. First of all, you have a laptop? Many of them automatically lower the brightness and contrast settings to save battery power. And it cannot be changed in the settings of the power Plan. So stop fist is here. Adjust the brightness and contrast settings until you can see comfortably. How is the impact on the battery? It is an interesting compromise?  Note: changes made to a diet plan will be lost when you connect to the wide, unless you save the changes as a custom power plan.

    Then go to Start Menu, and then select one of the programs (all must be changed in turn). For each program in the list, select properties and then select the Compatibility tab scroll down the list and tick executer run in compatibility and Mode in the drop-down list, select Windows 7. Then scroll down the list of options and select the last one, disable the display of high scale on the DPI screens. Click on apply and OK

    If these two mechanisms fail, go to control panel, select personalization and select one of the themes (all must be changed in turn). For each theme, select a basic and high contrast theme. You can still select / change the wallpaper, but borders, text, etc., are individually chosen by you.

    Try these approaches (ensuring that save you changes you want) and let me know how you fare. Please post back here with any specific questions or concerns about something. Its what we are here for.
