three questions... one parts, compatibility and a procedure

I think I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum, so will try again here.

FIRST QUESTION - I have a HP 8408us laptop.  And, although I did not notice before (blush), this laptop has two internal hard drive bays.  Currently, only the original hard drive is plugged into one of the bays (a 80gig SATA) so that the other remains empty drive Bay.  That is the problem.

The original 80gig SATA drive is held in place by a metal caddy/stand.  But the 2nd Bay is just 'empty' - with no trolley/carrier in place.  And a local geek shop told me that I had to get this carrier caddy if I wanted to install a 2nd SATA drive (which I do).  Could someone please point me to the HP store web page when I can buy this caddy/carrier?  Or, if this caddy/carrier is "generic" for all drives 2.5 "laptop, where a good place to buy one?  My local geek shop does not have on-site.

SECOND QUESTION - Is my future plan.  I intend to remove the 80gig drive and install a 500gig Western Digital SATA hard drive in the first Bay.  Subsequently, I intend to install a new copy of Windows XP Pro.  The original hard drive currently has Windows XP MCE, which, as I understand it, is simply extra (improved version) Windows XP Pro.  But since I've never used (and never intend to use) MCE bells and whistles, XP Pro will be enough for me.  Is there some incompatabilities I meet by going slightly 'backward' in Windows XP Pro?

THIRD QUESTION - after I have Windows XP Pro installed on 500gig drive, I intend to replace the 80gig drive in the 2nd drive bay and "format" NTFS only for storage purposes.  But to get Windows XP Pro installed correctly, I'm left with a question.  I know where the HP page is on my 8408us to acquire the proper drivers.  But I don't see any indication on this page that there is a preferred facility 'order '.  In other words, are there instructions that say:

(1) install this driver first.

(2) install this driver a second.

(3) - anything... etc, etc, etc.

Is there such a page "driver installation order"... or do most people just ' wing it?

Thanks to all who respond.

The issues seem to have been answered in another forum:

do not delete, uninstall, you no longer need.

as long as your configuration/preferences/catalogues have been migrated or re-setup on lr5, you don't need previous versions.

Since you are using Windows XP, your version of Windows Live Messenger be WLMsgr 2009.

    - so working in online mode (b) - Messenger requires a Live ID access code to use.

The article I wrote and quoted above explained that WLM (Windows Live Mail), which is also applicable to the WLMsgr 2009 versions contain most of the information to determine what to remember as...

    1. how to use the registry to determine the names of digital files of the database of Contacts

2A explained that 2009 has two functional databases for each Live ID (a primary and a shadow)

-both are needed. used 2009 the 'shade' as a catchment area to ensure synchronization occurs in both directions, when changes are made in both locations (local in Messenger or online at contacts.live.com)

Please read and understand the best article

    http://liveunplugged.WordPress.com/2011/02/04/Windows-Live-Mail-contacts-database/

... especially the section dedicated to explain the Contacts 2009 databases.

Once you determine the digital records of your single Live ID database (shadow and primary) and the program created 'default' you can check the size of each. If you feel that your registry database shows other numeric names (created using other Live ID or perhaps due to an error by typing a user name in the Messenger sign-in box) and these folders can be deleted safely.  Note: you may need to configure Windows Explorer to show hidden and system files to see when viewing in Windows Explorer.

In addition, you can also, as your contacts are stored online at contacts.live.com, after closing of Messenger remove the any local digital database called folders (for the primary shadow and if is the default). WLMsgr will recreate them on next signon and rebuild any local database folders and files based on what it sync (downloads) of the Live Server to contacts.live.com.

-Before the deletion of all files, it would be wise to connect to contacts.live.com and check that all your contacts are indeed present and represent for and for saving documents to archives/purposes export contacts to a csv file using the web UI option... Once completed then disconnection from the web UI.

-Do not, and I it cannot emphasize enough strongly, do not delete anything from the web interface before you delete the local databases on your hard drive (you can always return to contacts.live.com later to manage the contacts (remove, clean the unused or duplicates, merge duplicates etc.) if necessary after WLMsgr recreates local databases.)

Once done your registry key should show that three databases total (assuming you are using only a Live ID in WLMsgr)-the main and shadow for that Live ID and a default value (if it is created by the program).

You should have enough information to move forward or to ask additional questions.

As I mentioned earlier that, at a minimum, an empty list of contacts would be at least some multiple approx. 24 MB. Since you use WLMsgr 2009, and it uses a primary and shadow, the minimum size of about for you with no contact would be approximately 72MB (24 MB for each - primary, shadow and by default). As well as the contacts are added, the primary databases and shadows will be size.

Other topics presented in this thead element (but not significant) - comments below to close this loop

S ' for the use of your Hotmail account in Outlook. This use is not related or significant to the database used by WLMsgr. Contacts in Outlook (when the mail is configured to use Pop3 or DeltaSync with Outlook Hotmail Connector) are stored in the Outlook profile contacts, and quite separate from the WLMsgr database (i.e. neither Outlook or WLMsgr program communicates or synchronize or share data with each other to keep the feature)

FYI... not associated with 2009, but 2011 (for those who read along. WLM 2011 no longer uses the approach of two (primary and shadow) file for databases local contact so databases are smaller and also more robust in 2011 and better synchronize.  Finally, with respect to the use of 2009, wysiwyg... no other upgrades for 2009 are planned (the code was frozen for more than a year, the latest version (never) released in May 2010).

    Good luck.

  • Inspiron i5559 - three Questions

I bought a Dell i5559-3347SLV. It's a laptop 15.6 "Inspiron, illustrated here: officedepot.com/.../Dell-Inspiron-15-Laptop-156- screen / I've had it for a week, and I almost like him for what it for what I use it for. I looked at the manual time and the maintenance manual, but I have still three questions:

    (1) when I close the lid, I noticed that it does not completely close flower on the left side and partial left front. There is a 3/16 "to 1/4" gap (credit nearly two cards can keep out), while the right side closes quite SHORT. If I run my hand (not a lot of pressure) from the back to the front of the left side of the cover when it is 'closed', the gap goes and lid together is nice and SHORT. I don't know if it is an exchange value for another laptop of the same model or not. I think that the left hinge is just a little more tight than necessary. Any opinions?

    (2) the machine will start with the number lock off the coast. I didn't go into the BIOS to see if I can change the value by default, yet. However, when I press the NumLock key to activate the numeric keypad, I see no Fn key light up to indicate that it is. The only thing that indicates that it is is in the area of hidden icons, for which you must click to enlarge, and then if the NUMLOCK is turned on, it contains a square box with the number "9". Who wants to have to go through that to see if NUMLOCK is turned on?

    (3) should the power button, which is round with a translucent vertical stripe, dividing it into two, light when when it is powered on, or turn in dormant or mode orange screen saver?

    TIA

    Blindmelonball
    ejn63

If #1 is annoying, have the system replaced - in particular if the hinge shows a sign of liaison.

#2 and #3, there is no LED to indicate the State of num lock, nor is it a light power button - the only LED on these is on the front edge of the system (indicates the State of charge).  It has no HDD LED on them, either.

#1, not binding, but think I'll exchange due to cosmetics

#2, thank you for all that

#3, found the BIOS was set ON NumLock as a default, however, I turned off and then back ON, but still no luck. I will focus

    Thanks again.

I exchanged for another laptop (same model) yesterday.  It closes perfectly FLUSH.  I can say about this news that the hinge (s) was too tight on the first.  On this new one, when I close the lid, it is steep until the last inch or more, and then he shut the rest of the way by himself.  With the first, I had to push it shut all the way and then some.

It's my laptop 13 years (9 Dells), and they all closed RAS.  I wonder why I even asked for it.

NumLock on this second laptop seems to work (remains enabled throughout of MESSAGES).

    Thanks for the reply.

  • difference between the view and the procedure

    Hi Master,

Today I received a request from my senior technical leader... !!

Q > what is the difference between the view and the procedure?

    I got response like this...

A view represents the logic of one or more tables/views. It won't take no place in db... It is a virtual table, query will only store in db... useful

for safety... If the main table has obtained changes... automatically discovers also change... etc.

Proecudure is a db object will be performs a perticular action... It may or may not return values. ?

But somehow, he isn't happy... He expects more... .very close view of diff. b & w and procedure.

    Please explain it to me...!

    Hi Blu,

Thanks for your replies...! But we think if notice and procedure will be the same no matter what point of view? Both are the same? If Design view... We can create a stored procedure?

How a view and procedure may do the same thing?  They are two different things with different objectives.  You use the correct one depending on what you want to achieve; they are not interchangeable.

    And another question...!

    (Q) how you will store Japan, characters of China in a database table? will there be a new feature in Oracle 11 g?

    (A) I use dbms_lob package? Japan/China characters are multi byte characters... so we can use the nclob data type?

    is this correct... ?

No, it not there no novelty in Oracle 11 g for the storage of Japanese or Chinese characters, because there is already a feature for their storage in previous versions as well.  It is determined by the parameters characterset and nationality that you use when you create the database.

Why would you choose to store them in a LOB using DBMS_LOB?  Yes, they have multibyte characters, but if you have configured your database for the correct character sets, for example using UTF - 8, then you can store the characters in VARCHAR2, like any other language.  The only difference is that the storage of 4000 bytes limit still applies, so you maybe isn't able to store 4000 multibyte characters in a varchar2 column 4000 single-byte, it can be as little as 1000 characters if they are all characters in 4 bytes.  (Note: 12 c limit in SQL can be increased up to 32,767 characters, to harmonize it with variable varchar2 PL)

  • View assessment - three questions

    Hello

I'm going through an eval of view and three questions came so he was working on an external access via the Security server in our DMZ.

    1. with the help of this article: VMware KB: guidelines for the production and importation of a SSL certificate for the view view connection Server 5.0.1... I bought a certificate from an external certification authority (Thawte) and imported into the keystore on the Security server.  I created the file locked.properties in C:\Program VMware View\Server\sslgateway\conf.  After the reboot of the Security Server, it always seems to use its self-signed certificate.  Are there any other missing stage of this document?  I stumbled upon the blog of a guy who runs it without keytool, and one of its not said that the friendly name on the cert should be vdm... don't know if this is specific to its environment, or a requirement of VMWare.

    2. I was able to connect to the customer external Horizon once recognizing that certificate signed by the self was not reliable.  However if I boot a desktop computer from the pool of bound using PCoIP clone it does not connect.  Looks like it connects (the screen goes black and I get the bar of high control of the screen, but then it closes and I get a message saying "' the connection to the remote computer has finished".  I guess it's a firewall issue, and I watched http://blogs.vmware.com/consulting/files/2014/06/Horizon-6-Firewall-3.png and Ports UDP and TCP of the view.  I'm fairly certain that I had all of them.  For PCoIP, is all that I need to open TCP/UDP 4172 external in the Security Server and the server safe for virtual desktops?

    3. If I change the Protocol Microsoft RDP, the work of connection from the outside, but I get a permissions error when it starts to connect to the desktop computer saying that I must be in the remote desktop users group.  I am able to connect to the same mass of Clone bound since an internal machine using the same credentials if.  Is there something different about how the bureau is launching externally vs. in-house?

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Dylan

    1. the friendly name of the certificate must be "vdm".

This is how see selects the right certificate.

2 how get a black screen when you connect, is almost always a firewall problem. Apart from rules, check that you have correctly configured the public url. in the administration page under view-> server configuration.

  • Three Questions from beginner to Captivate 3

    Adobe Captivate 3.

I have three questions from beginner to Adobe Captivate 3.

    1. I noticed that CP3 only creates SWF files.  Why not offer the possibility to create an FLV file in the final product?  What is the difference between a SWF file and a FLV?

    2. I want my finished product for a single slide with a picture in the background and some areas of reversal.  It seems that no matter what I do, the blade is not fixed, but faints and disappears after the default time of 3.3 seconds.  How can I achieve making the slide remains in place, not disappear, and behave as I want?

    3. I want to do a slide that has a video autoplay Flash on it (this part I know how to do), but I want the slide to move to another slide specified when the video ends, without user action.  How can I do?

Thanks to anyone who can help me on these issues.

CP3 does not FLV because it was not part of the specification for CP3. I don't know why it is like that. Maybe the Captivate development team knows for sure. In any case, Captivate 5 was recently released. If the point is little questionable, right?

Regarding the second part of this question, SWF can have interactivity such as bearings or clickable areas or buttons that perform different actions. FLV is usually just a video, just like a DVD movie that you watch passively, and you do not participate.

    2. I want my finished product for a single slide with a picture in the background and some areas of reversal.  It seems that no matter what I do, the blade is not fixed, but faints and disappears after the default time of 3.3 seconds.  How can I achieve making the slide remains in place, not disappear, and behave as I want.

You can get there. Just insert a click box and time it so it suspends the slide at the right time.

    3. I want to do a slide that has a video autoplay Flash on it (this part I know how to do), but I want the slide to move to another slide specified when the video ends, without user action.  How can I do?

So now you change course on us? You said to question 2 you want the finished product is a single slide! This is perhaps another project, you're talking about.

If you examine the properties of the slide, you will discover a labeled area of Navigation. Using this box, you can choose to navigate to another slide when it finishes playing.

    See you soon... Rick

I just bought my machine and Ive decided to install some more ram. No one knows if it will affect my Gurentee. I can't find anything on the Web site on this topic. Should I get a Toshiba to install official repairman or something?
    Thank you

    Hello

Please check you user manual. Usually, the slot memory must be placed at the bottom of the unit. If you remove the cover, you should see the slots.
Usually memory upgrade procedure is described in the user manual so you can upgrade the memory yourself and the procedure of upgrading doesn t affect your warranty.
But please make sure you use the right modules.
However, you can also contact Toshiba for the upgrade of memory.

Reset preferences, reset the default workspace, and purge the cache.

Damaged preferences or workspaces can cause unexpected behavior in Adobe Bridge. Purge the cache can solve problems of the thumbnail display.

    • Start Adobe Bridge, and immediately press Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or command + Option + shift (Mac OS down) until the dialogue box reset settings appears.

    • Select all three options - reset preferences, reset Standard Workspaces and all miniature Purge Cache - and then click OK.
