Three questions pertaining to move to a new computer, Lightroom update.

I have an older version of Lightroom. Can I move it from your Windows 7 computer to new computer Windows 8?

Did I lose some photos that I've reviewed or indexed in Lightroom?

Is the only option of Lightroom now to pay monthly fees from non-recurring charges?

I have Acrobat 9 Standard on my laptop and you want to move to a new computer.  How then?

You can't move it. You must install it. If just use your CD or downloaded file and run the install to put it on the new machine. You also need the SN (SN from earlier version, and if an upgrade). You can have 2 plants under license. If you want to remove the old disk, disable and uninstall it.

  • Move to the new computer, get "an error has occurred during playback of files or write files to a disk." The disc

    • I tried to move my catalog and PE6 install to a new computer.  This is on a Dell Windows XP machine, and I moved it to a Toshiba Windows 7 (64-bit) machine.  I always kept my photo on an external hard drive files.  My library is 50 GB, 10,000 files.  Here's what I did.
      • Copied the original PE6 installation file on the Toshiba.  Installed but not activate it.
      • Copied my catalog folder to the location of the Windows 7.
      • Plug the external drive into the Toshiba.  So makes that same letter drive as a front.
      • Fired up to PE6 on Toshiba.  Seemed fine in the Organizer.  Everything seemed to be there, but I didn't try to make any changes at this time there.
      • PE6 disabled on the Dell.  Enabled on the Toshiba.

    • Then I realized that it is not fair.  I can edit the keywords and the stars rating on photos, but not the dates, legends or notes.  I get "an error has occurred during playback of files or write files to a disk." The drive is may be full, or there may be problems with the source media. »
    • Only a fraction of the external drive is in use.
    • I can access the files on the external hard drive with another application (Windows Photo Viewer).
    • I tried the reconnect All missing files.  Somewhat ambiguous, she said "There are no files to reconnect."
    • In the properties in the organizer for each photo are the appropriate file names and paths.  Folder view works fine in the Organizer.
    • I can put new files in the directories of the same external drive, import them into PE6, then change them normally.

What is the best way to get Organizer connected correctly to my files?  I guess I could import all photos on the new machine, but I guess I'd lose some of my metadata.  So it's out of the question.

    Thank you

    Bill

Well, the recommended method for moving the catalog is to use organizer of the PSE6 on your old computer to do a full backup on your DHM.  (Which backs up the catalog and media files).  Then, on your new computer, open the Organizer PSE6 and restore from this backup.

    Your method seems logical, but...

  • Problems move iTunes to new computer Windows 10

My apologies in for raising this issue again, but I searched here and all over the web and can't seem to find an answer to my question.

My old laptop Win 7 died a few weeks ago.  My new laptop is Win 10.  Fortunately, although the old machine is kaput, I managed to remove the HARD disk and all data was still in tact and accessible.  I moved the folder the folder iTunes music on my old HDD to my music folder on my new computer.  I moved also all of my actual files of original music for the new computer; Once again, all in the same exact location.  I have also authorized the new computer in iTunes.

However, when I run iTunes, even if all my albums appear, when I try to play a song that I get the dreaded dialog box that says: "the song _ could not be used because the original file cannot be found. You want to locate? "and even more formidable exclamation point appears next to the songs.

I followed every piece of advice that I can find; I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times; I installed iTunes and moved the old iTunes folder in different orders. I copied tried copying the contents of the iTunes folder from my old computer into the iTunes folder on the new computer, when I recently install iTunes.  Nothing works.

I also noticed that on my old machine, the iTunes database (file * .itl) was actually in the iTunes of parent folder, whereas, when I install iTunes from scratch, the default location for the iTunes database (file * .itl) was in the iTunes media subfolder.  I tried to set up my iTunes 'old' folder in the two formats when I copy on the new machine, but doesn't seem to make a difference.

I know that I could go and use the option 'Search' for each album, but it is an extremely difficult task because of the large amount of music I have in iTunes.

No matter what I do, iTunes can't find the original music files, even when I go in the Advanced preferences and redirect manually to the * file itl.  I can't help thinking that at the wrong place simply indicates the file *.til, and I don't know how to change it.

The only things I can think of that might be the cause of the problem are:

    1. is this something from Win 7 to Win 10 (seems unlikely, because others have not reported this problem); or

2 would it be that the drive letter and path where my music folder is on my new machine are both different from my old machine?

On my old machine, I had a c: / partition that contains the programs and the operating system and a d: / partition for data, where my music folder.

On the new machine the OS and data are stored on the c: / drive. It is "hid" d: / partition with data recovery.

Also, on the old machine, my data stored in a folder of the user who was named with my first name (e.g. D:/users/FirstName/music).  But, when I created my account on the new machine to win 10 automatically named my user folder by appropriating the first 5 letters of the email address that I used, I understand is standard to win 10 (for example, C:/users/Email/music).

These are guesses, but I'm all out of ideas.  Is it possible that someone here might be able to help me to rectify this situation?  Sorry to be so long-winded, but hope the more information, more likely it is, I'll be able to find a solution.  Thanks in advance for any guidance.

The "missing file" error occurs if the file is no longer where iTunes is expected to find. Causes possible is that you or a third-party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, one of its parent folders, or the reader, he feeds has been a change to the drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from waiting for the files in the presentation of pre-iTunes 9 post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice versa, and so looking for a bit in the wrong place.

Select a track with an exclamation point, use Ctrl - I to get the information, and then click No when asked to try to locate the track. Look under the file tab for the location that iTunes thinks that the file should be. Now look around your hard drive. I hope you can locate the track in question. If a part of your library has just been moved, renamed a folder or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse actions. If the difference between the two railroads is an additional music directory in a path, then it is a problem of layout. I can explain more if this is the case. If everything is where it is supposed to be trying to fix the security permissions for iTunes for Windows.

In some cases, iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps with Get Info, but this time, click on search and browse the lost track. He peut then offers to try to automatically correct the other broken links. Although he said something like 'use the same location' I think he expects to find titles in the same provision, artist / album, they were previously, with a systematic change to the path.

If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed files then the chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies will make it difficult to restore media on the precise way that iTunes is expected. In this case, as long as the missing files somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script for reconnecting to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.

If you want me to try to provide specific advice, please post back the following details:

    1. The location of the media file under Edit > Preferences > advanced
    2. The location of a sample of missing follow indicated under Get Info > file > location which begins file://localhost/
    3. The real path to the file which you gave 2 details.

See also make a library of portable split for some information on the standard layout for the iTunes library.

  • Profile of HP Solutions move to the new computer

I created several of my own profile shortcut scanning on a computer that is to be replaced. Instead of to sit and trying to remember all these parameters or to examine the old ones and hand make new ones, I'd rather just copy on. I looked at the FAQS, Forums and other places and can't seem to find anyone else in this situation. The two systems are Windows 7 Basic.

    Hi @PoohBear27,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you are trying to copy your scanning profiles to a new computer, and I'm happy to see it for you!

After having looked further, I came to the conclusion that if it's a good idea, it is not possible to do. You will need to write the shortcut, install the printer on the new computer and then create profiles of scanning again.

I hope that answers your question!

  • Move CS5 to new computer?

My office begins to have problems so I bought a new and move the former to theDeactivate CS5, I have the option to "Suspend Activation" or "Permanently disable" I guess I want to suspend, but want to be sure. Everything I need to know? Pitfalls to avoid?

Thank you very much for your time.

PS Si... it's not going to be any more DW CS *? It is only available by monthly subscription?

If you want to temporarily disable - say that you install on a 3rd intermediate machine, use Suspend option.   If you want to donate your old computer to charity, use disable permanently.

Yes, you can always buy CS6, but it is not updated with new features and is now 3 versions removed CC 2014.  Don't get me wrong, CS6 is a very good product.  I'm just letting you know what you buy.   Creative Suite 6

With the Cloud model, you get the new software and updates as soon as they are available.  No more wait 18 months for bug fixes.  In addition, clouds they get other benefits that are not available to users a perpetual license.  It's just something to consider when you are ready to upgrade.

  • LR4 movement to a new computer.

I replace my computer with a macbook air mac laptop and want to move computer to this new LR4.  I a LR dick I got to upgrade to LR3, but I don't have a disk to the new computer drive.   Is there a way to download my software online?

It seems that you bought an upgrade to LR3 LR4. If this is correct, download the trial version for LR4 directly on your new computer (make sure that you disable the LR4 on your old computer first before uninstalling the software). When you install LR4 on your new computer first enter the SN for LR4. You will then be asked to enter the serial number for LR3 them. Enter the serial number for LR3, and you're good to go.

    Thank you

  • Move photos to new computer

I just built a new computer which is running. How can I move my pictures with my old metadata? They have two PS CS5.

Metadata is normally stored with images by default, so moving them to a different computer is not a problem, unless you chose to simply store the metadata in a central database. See Edit > Camera Raw Preferences > Save Image settings in. If you have a set of sidecars, you're fine.

Other issues of concern are bridge Cache and keywords.

The Cache can be moved, but I don't know if it is wise, because I think that you must accurately reproduce the image paths to make it work. You can set Bridge to the cache to the image files, but if you do not from the outset, it is of no use to you now. You're probably better off start anything.

Keywords can be exported for use on another computer. The control menu in the upper right part of the keywords Panel will give you the possibility to export the file, but also import from another computer.

  • Move to a new computer PSE7.

I buy a new computer and I want to spend Elements7 to it. I don't have that version upgrade PSE7 as the original version was pre-installed on the old computer. How can I go on the move?

You are good to install PSE 7 on new computer with your valid serial number upgrade. Controls must have been already made while you buy the serial number. So don't you worry now, go ahead and perform the installation. Let me know in case you do face problems associated with the update installation.

  • I have virtualized my vista laptop hard drive to move on the new computer. WGA is eager for new registration.

I have virtualized my laptop so that I could have run on the new computer without having to reinstall 100 GB of programs. It's a Vista Home Premium OS which has been virtualized. The virtualized system Vista now tells me it is not authentic and 1, buy windows, 2 enter the product key, 3 contact Acer.  Well, 3 is probably a waste of time. So, I tried 2 with the key on the laptop.  WGA said it turned on, but the screen has not changed who says that's not authentic. so I said, that the heck, I'll go ahead and pay microsoft the ransome... Well well... your site says I can't buy vista as sell you is no longer... WHAT!  Now, I'm screwed or people a way you sell me a Vista key?

If it is an OEM license, then it is bound to the original laptop it was installed on.

I bought Lr 5.0 in 2013 and improved to 5.5 at a given time.  All my photos are on an external hard drive, but how do the last free update of Lr on my new computer that I just bought.  It's a Mac.
