Throughput WAN Netgear R7000

I am really interested in buying this router, but I have a concern that it can't handle a 1 Gbps connection. I recently got 1 Gbps fiber and looking to buy a router to manage this speed in a connection. I read that it can not reach speeds of more than 450 Mbps with ipv4 and NAT. However, this review of the R7000 shows the graphics flow 900 + Mbps. So I'm kind of confused at this point and don't want to spend $200 on a router announced in gigabit and it not getting that speed. Does anyone have this router on a gigabit connection that can confirm the speeds? Thank you!

You might be interested in contacting the guy who posted this message on the ddwrt forum. It calls for close GB speed on stock. No idea of its installation or whether or not he uses SPI.

I just bought a router Netgear R7000 AC1900 Nighthawk.  I works very well with all my computers with any operating systems except my wife of Acer Windows Vista.  Netgear technology could not operate either except when we connected as a guest without security protection.  I do not to run like that because of the lack of security.  The technology said that my version of Vista apparently did not have the right drivers for the router.  It works very well with my connected Ethernet Windows XP system, so it seems strange that the old system would have to the newer system drivers with no.  Anyone have any ideas?

  • R7000-can not get to work with iptv

Hi, I have problems to make my r7000 working with plusnets iptv... Recently signed to it and they sent me their shitty router that feeds their iptv perfectly but I can't figure out how to get the nighthawk for this...

Current firmware 1.0.4.30. in advanced settings, there is an option allowing to the VLAN / bridge I had some success using: iptv works for a bit, but not internet traffic outside of iptv is passed to the youview box - so can't watch netflix etc. It stops also work after I have change the channel so it does not seem in any case the right fix

PlusNet cannot provide me details for tag vlan, so don't know not where to go from there... every time I have activate the Internet is not just connect - tried VLAN 10, 101, 301 and the thing that I could think of...

I read that there is an option to enable the VLAN / IPTV on some firmwares, but I don't see "enable VLAN / Bridge" on mine.
This feature is still supported on the R7000? or would be running DD - WRT work?
    I hope someone can help
    Thank you

And we have a solution! Flashed the CFW, a quick reboot of the router, and a bit of higgery pokery - work with enabled IPTV YouView.

Here's a note in case others run into this forum and fall into the same obstacle. These are the settings you need once you have flashed the CFW:

You must configure 'Enable VPN + connection DHCP' to 'No' to the terms of the WAN option.

    Parameters used were:

-Have the router to the latest firmware: 3.0.0.4.374.130

-Use the following settings in the LAN > IPTV:

-"Select the ISP profile" = None

'Choose the Port STB IPTV' = None

    -"Use DHCP routes" = Microsoft

-"Enable routing multicast (IGMP Proxy) = enable".

'Enable the effective transfer of multicast (IGMP Snooping) = enable ".

    -' UDB Proxy (Udpxy) = 0

I hope this proves use for others in the future and thank you for all your help.

  • How can I reset my R7000 in the State in which I out took it of the box?

How can I reset my R7000 in the State in which I out took it of the box? Why am I asking? The latest version of the firmware has destroyed the connectivity and performance of my router. I'll have to deal with the devices that can not connect, devices that fall, extremely poor performance, etc. It's just a disaster.

I've been with Netgear 5-6 years and had to do something last night, I have never had to do before - I had to go back to an earlier version of the firmware. Honestly, very little worked well. The previous version of the software has a few hiccups here and there, but the new version is just a nightmare.

Now that I have applied even if an earlier version of the firmware, I can still see some of the latest options which were not there before. I have taken note that the firmware was now the prior publication, but the GUI is still the current version.

Just to give a time frame on my Nexus 5 running 802.11ac, prior to the current version, I could peg 90Mbps +. Since the new version, the best I can do standing right next to the router is 24Mpbs +. Even after the restoration of the previous firmware, the speed is always the same.

So, I want to return the router to the shape that when I took it out of the box, apply the previous firmware and reset up if necessary. I want to just my router back prior to the most recent release that destroyed. Once again, that the release had a few hiccups, but it was still usable.

The 30-30-30 reset method works on most routers out there, but not on the R7000...
The correct way to reset your R7000 at the exit of the State of the box is...

    'reboot '.
    Wait a few seconds

Flash the original Stockfirmware through the Administration tab (if the upgrade fails and the site is not available, try another browser such as Firefox, chrome, safari)
    now that the router restarts

Press Reset for 5-8 seconds max! **

    * After each reboot, the first login on StockFW screen should show something like "refresh the settings or the settings of loading.

Now, it's as out of the Box.

I have reflashed several R7000 to initial Stockfirmware as the last FW with Beamforming was not stable enough after several days/weeks testing... The FW showed massive connection drops after 24 hours and only a reboot of the router fixed it (tested on 3 x R7000)

The connection has dropped from 1300 to 66-256 after several hours...-. -.

Now I'm waiting a new FW version with corrections of Wifi of Netgear.

  • Problem with Wifi on all Apple devices on my network

Hello everyone, a few days ago, I started having WIFI problems on my network at home with only the APPLE DEVICES, we have a MacBook Pro 2012, two IPhone 6 + s and also a PC all WIFI windows running on a Netgear R7000 Nighthawk (ISP Comcast). The windows PC works perfectly don't fine full internet access, no problem to... IPhones and Macs are the problem... They do not connect to the app store and safari keeps showing sites Web does not correctly load images, this also happens in the app store when I can get it to connect and in applications such as Istagram and facebook on Iphones. some images keep showing with only of the question marks where the images are supposed to be on the iPhone and the Macbook... In addition, sometimes that Safari displays the message 'safari cannot connect to the server' I tried to reset the router to the default settings, tried resetting the network settings on the iPhone as I have well, I also tried another router and nothing has worked. Let me add that I tried reset hard on the Modem and the router.

Hi everyone, according to me, my problem is SOLVED. I had disabled IPV6. I activated it set it automatically detect and it seemed to solve the problem. When WMM is my IPHONE 6 + will not properly work without this permit. Very disappointed with these latest products apple, never been a fan but the rest of my family is. I hope this helps

  • White LED of Ethernet to the router flashes constantly (to about 5 flashes per second)

The Internet on my router Netgear (R7000 Nighthawk, AC1900) white LED flashes constantly (about 5 times per second), and it is originally the link on my modem light blinks constantly. All started about four days ago. I thought that my modem was defective, but I spoke with my ISP technical support who said it was the router that has been at the origin of the modem LED blink. I unplugged the power supply to the router, but when I plugged it in the problem has not been resolved. I also reset the router (using the reset on the back of the router) but that has not solved the problem. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

  • Request password wpa2 after factory reset

I logged into my Netgear R7000 with the only intention to change the passwords for the bands of my two 2.4 G and 5G, to the same thing of course just more encrypted because I'm in the middle of a metropolitan area. When I arrived at the home page there was a firmware update I have done successfully. I was changed two passwords to the same thing and update the page. It appears to be stuck on this page for several minutes until eventually an error message throughout full page in print fat who says to a representative of the customer service on the phone. I'm not come with phone support because I'm outside the window of 90 days free telephone support and they wanted to charge me a good amount of money, so I tell myself I can find everything online, I made a mistake of reading from my Mac laptop at the same time as I power rolled my router and therefore lost the error message until I wrote it down or the screenshot it. In any case, I decided to do a reset router factory which seemed successful but when I choose my Netgear # in the list of choices WiFi it comes up with a password WPA2 for me to enter. I first tried the "password". I tried every password I used in reference to this router that I carefully kept in my program of 1password but nothing works. There is no option for a user name. Since Apple has eliminated on their most recent laptops ethernet ports and I do not have the adapter for it I'm stuck with this Wi - Fi network. Worst case scenario oh I can borrow a mobile phone to friends with ethernet, but I wonder if anyone have a solution for. I have reset the modem probably 4 different times starting when it was bound to it and, finally, the last time resetting with only being plugged in to a power source. Any help would be appreciated.

Wi - Fi factory passwords are printed on a label on the router.

  • Function of syslog r8000 Nighthawk x 6?

    Hi all

I bought a x 6 R8000 Nighthawk (Firmwareversion V1.0.2.44_1.0.96) a few weeks ago. I think it's a very nice camera with plenty of features, you can normally find only in the device for a much higher price...

But I have a problem with a function:

You can only send the log file to an email address. But why?

Is it possible to get through send log files to a server syslog, scp or save to an external drive?

At the moment, I have send the log to a local mail server, but it is of a workaround than a good solution.

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments. :-)

  • Recommended for Y2 tab 13 wifi router?

For the moment, I have an old class 'g' wifi router that is capable of approximately 50 Mbps (if I correctly interpreted the specifications). I see that new class routers 'n', as well as tablets of Yoga, are capable of about 600 Mbps - that seems a great improvement. Could anyone recommend a particular model that works well and stable with tablets of Yoga?

I tried Googling Amazon these and reading reviews, but I'm not much smarter afterwards... Some models I've looked at (I know these support even better than "n" speeds, but this seems an investment of better evidence and more pure future router "n"):

    • TP Link Archer C7 - cheaper but less reliable and slower than the competition
    • ASUS RT-AC68 - much praise, but also a lot of (bad) 1 and 2 star reviews
    • ASUS RT-AC87 - once again a lot of praise, but also many people with questions
    • NETGEAR R7000 - mixed with new comments and support which would have been particularly bad manufacturer

I'd be happy with just a reasonable speed improvement (for example, currently I can not stream movies in high definition and even just browsing files on the other machine on the local network is slow noticably) and I do not connect several devices simultaneously (generally 1 to 3).

    Hi DigiMagic,

The routers at the end of the day depends on the feature you're looking for. Example of some routers have invited mode, children's fashion, supports USB / NAS, etc.

That's why at the end of the day, it would depend on what you will be using the router for. As for me, I have 2 access point at home because of my low WLAN router and I intend to get one that is dual band with AC to ensure future proofing...

    Hope that helps = D

  • Is my 2011 macbook pro the neck of the bottle in my LAN slow transfer speed?

    Hello

I have a macbook pro 2011 and I recently bought a buffalo LS 520 NAS, but when you try to transfer data through my wifi network that speeds are painfully slowly.

    WiFi area speeds as follows:

    Upload: 0,6906480 MB/s

    DOWNLOAD: 6,2196480 Mbit/s

And here's the transfer speeds for the macbook pro on the NAS directly connected via ethernet

    Upload: 62,689 Mbps

    Download: 796.3651920

    I have a Sky Home Hub router 2013 (144Mbps and 2.4 GHz)

I think that the might of bottleneck the NIC in my macbook pro, but I am not sure. Even if that were the case, the speeds above seem very slow. I am planning to buy a new router to see if that improves things, but will it be useless if the speed is dictated by my macbook?

    You need a router more...

Especially if you want to use wifi for transferring files you need in 5 GHz... so I don't spend much time worrying about this.

Get a new router... you can plug into the hub of the sky... It should be wireless AC so it may be a new extreme Apple or it can be a dozen different brands... all that is readily available and reasonable price... but I highly recommend types AC1900 like Netgear R7000, Asus RT-AC68U or C9 of TP-Link.

Once you have plugged it in the WAP configuration / Skyhub mode (bridge on the extreme) we can establish if there are still questions what is happening.

Your 10 x difference in upload and download speed makes no sense. Which affects both wireless and ethernet. The difference in speed of reading and writing on a NAS is double at most.

But I do not pretend do you a test, ethernet jack directly to the Buffalo and implemented with the static IP as well as your laptop... and then try it... view results... because if these figures are also very strange, then there is a problem with the buffalo...

It is very important that you her mount smb in El Capitan... the question is something you need to post in the area of the BONE...

  • Our RE6500 Extender crashes Netflix on our Android mobile devices. Any ideas?

OK, this is a long, but I want to give as much detail as possible.

Our Linksys Linksys EA6500 router died recently. After do not do more for about 2 years on our last two Linksys routers, I decided to try Netgear. I had good luck with them in the past. I bought a Nighthawk R7000 Netgear wireless router. Most of the time, I'm very happy with our new router. Wired connections are fast and stable. A Wi - Fi connection is fast and stable on a frequency with one exception. I can't get Netflix to work systematically in Wi - Fi on our any of our devices android mobiles. Each device is wired works well and Netflix has no problem. Netflix works great on our iPhones. If we use our Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets S 10.5 to connect, the app will start and, when moving to the library/selection screen, we get the little swirling animated icon for about ten seconds, then the application crashes to the home screen. We have no problem whatsoever if turn us our phones mobile hotspots and communicate with them. We have no problem on other Wi - Fi networks that we have tried to use. The only time that we have this problem is on our home Wi - Fi network, administered by our router Netgear R7000.

I called tech support a few weeks ago, and they accompanied me by running a factory reset on our router, thinking that maybe something did not quite right for our first installation. They walked me through the initial Setup again. Once we did it, bam!, Netflix was back and works well. However, in a few days the same problem began. The Android Netflix app was crashing on our home network. Again, no problems of data mobile and no problem on any other Wi - Fi we checked. The problem was only exposed through our home network. If I had to restore the network and rerun initial Setup, Netflix is going to work very well once again, for a limited time; ranging from a few hours to a few days. Since the installation of our new router, I was not able to do more than three or four days without this problem arising and requiring a factory reset to 'fix '.

Fast forward supports a few days and five hours on the phone with Netgear tech. They were not able to help permenantly resolve my problem. I swapped my router on the same router. Netflix Android app crash all started again things worked fine for two days then this afternoon. I've messed around with things for a few hours and did not have much luck. Finally, I started thinking that what we have on our wireless network, which could have repercussions on it. Our range extender came to mind. We have a Linksys RE6500 AC1200 Range Extender to extend our network without wire on the back of half of our House. We've used since the me moved into our House newly built a year-and-a-half he y a. I started to wonder if that may have an impact. I went to the back and disconnected the Extender and then restarted the R7000 router. I have connected to the wireless network as soon as she came back to the top. BAM! Netflix works like charm. I went to the back and plugged the extension in. Almost immediately, the problem of crashing Netflix app returned to our Android devices. I've disconnected the Extender again and don't mind not even reboot the router this time. Netflix has started working again. I went back like this probably five or six times, just experiences. Every time that I turned off the range extender, Netflix would work on our Android devices. As soon as I would re - turn on the Extender, the crashing behavior would start up. For everything else, regular web surfing, watch YouTube or Hulu, the Extender is very well. He kills just Netflix on our Android mobile devices.

I have no idea what may be the cause, but it begins to look like it has absolutely nothing to do with our router Netgear R7000, at least the router itself. The funny thing is, I know that a few weeks ago, when we got the new router, the range extender did not cause a problem like this and seems to work perfectly. I think that there is nothing inherently wrong with the extension either. I suspect that there is some problem of incompatibility between the two devices is the cause.

I'll keep experimenting. I'm going to perform a factory reset on our RE6500 and approach through the initial Setup again this weekend; Get everything back to the basic condition, out-of-the-box and see how things work.

In the meantime, no matter who never experienced anything like this before? Any ideas?

Actually, no, we've never experienced any topics negatives that the Netflix app crashing on our Android mobile devices. Other than that, our wi - fi was fast and stable. You try to use the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz network? 5 GHz has potentially higher speeds, but breaks more quickly through the walls, etc..

You have a decent wi - fi signal where you placed your extender? I know you're eager to extend to another location, but you must have at least a decent signal where you place your router or you pick anything to extend. Use spot finder technology in the extender configuration to determine the appropriate power of the signal for the placement of the Extender.

Here is a link to the thread that I found helped me.

  • Lost internet connection of TZ205W

I have a new TZ205W firewall, updated when installing to (I think) the SonicOS latest version 5.9.1.0 - 22o. The WAN port is connected at the border FIOS.

After several hours of working properly, it loses its internet connection. At that time:

    • I can access is no longer remote,.
    • They no longer ping the WAN port,
    • He cannot ping internet addresses, and
    • I can't access the internet from the local network.

However, I can ping it and connect to the administration of the LAN interface. As soon as I have it reboot, I again have access to the internet from the local network and can ping/access it remotely. Once it's down, it never comes back to the top unless it is rebooted.

I have already tried these things:

    • Restarted "Current Firmware with factory default settings", and then he reconfigured the wizard and stick to the simple minimum configuration (i.e. leaving out my VPN and most of my NAT policies); It is exactly as I do for my several other TZ205Ws who work in other networks, except for the intellectual property-specific information.
    • Re-uploaded the same version of firmware, and then reset to factory default settings and it reconfigured as above.
    • Called the ISP to see if there was any possibility of a problem MTU, a conflict known between their unit and SonicWall, or maybe they could see certain types of traffic from the router that could make in being blocked on their side. But all they can tell me is that they see no unusual activity and not responsible for my router, only them that sits on the other public IP address on the same circuit. My other router provided by the ISP to another public IP address (connected to the same switch on the WAN side) doesn't lose connectivity when the SonicWall; However, this port is still upward if I can replace the firewall prior non-SonicWall serving this LAN, I got the new SonicWall.

At its connection to the Wan is down, I don't see anything different on the device, so I am at a loss even know what diagnosis of the measures to be taken. Are there specific parameters and/or log files that might be useful to diagnose the problem? Is it possible that there is a problem with SonicOS version am I using? Pourrait - this point to a hardware router problem?

Finally... an answer. In short, it was a known problem with the Alcatel FIOS in border Ontario here's the recap:

Business of my client was sitting there in this situation with the border router and a Netgear FVS318 works correctly for perhaps three years. Then one day, we get more sophisticated and need a reliable VPN. So I happily order two SonicWall TZ205 units, which replaces the old Netgear. The SonicWall at the other end (cable internet service) works fine, but to do this, the border gateway refused to communicate with him, after six hours. A restart of SonicWall has solved the problem, but she returned after six hours. When he is down, I can still communicate with the border router that is on the same network with the ONTARIO Frontier and my SonicWall switch. So I know my port WAN on the SonicWall is not the problem.

I have reset the SonicWall to factory specifications, ask questions on the forum of SonicWall, even to swap this SonicWall with one at the other end. I opened a call at the border. My research points the finger at ARP, but one of the level 1 technicians gives me this message of network technology: "This is not how it works." It was perhaps in hour four of my forty-hour ordeal. I consider allowing the ARP open via the diags hidden from the SonicWall page but reject the possibility because of the stern warning that this is not safe. (Sigh... anyway could have save me several hours).

No change in this. I dig, dig, dig. I have activate gratuitous ARP. Finally, I discovered, by chance, while tinkering with ARP on the SonicWall, that a cache ARP Flush on my SonicWall solves the problem immediately. Now, how can that be? I ask Frontier. "It is your own router," they say, 'if we do not support. " I ask, "If my monitor package reveals that my router sends packets to the IP address and MAC address of your gateway and your entry door does not, whose fault is that?" They say 'Yours'! "Of course," I think, "and if my router did not meet your entry door, it would also be my fault." But what I'm saying is, 'I have to switch to Comcast to be able to use an advanced router." "It's your choice," said the Tech level 1 (the regional director had no one to happy to hear about it when I finally made an autonomous escalation by calling the line of business of complaint).

In the meantime, a filtered to ARP packets monitor reveals that when I clear the cache ARP of SonicWall, there is something gratuitous ARP does not: it sends an ARP request explicitly to the IP address of the gateway. And this proves with certainty that it is not only related to ARP, but this is a problem on the side of the border. Yet, I can't speak with an NT. They tell me that their door is not in ONTARIO (which goes far to get rid of the smell of the true cause later).

This is a site that is half an hour from my office, so Meanwhile, I activated a second NIC on a server at the office, given that the two default gateways and RDP server enabled on both so that I can RDP in via the border at the NIC2 server router, and then connect to the SonicWall via its interface LAN of NIC1 of the server do this without yet another trip into the office.

At the same time, users in the Office tire repeated outages and ignore my instructions to call me when there is a power outage and unplug, plug back the power of the SonicWall while I'm trying to troubleshoot it. And, of course, it's my fault because I went from routers. So I withdraw my cheap Netis switch, connecting three WAN devices and replace it with Netgear switch a little better (but still not managed).

In the meantime, however, I now put in more than 30 hours between all the swapping & resetting devices, the many trips in the office and maybe eight or nine calls to Frontier - none that ever made me an escalation to level 2. And all the time, I was insisting that someone there has been the answer already and just needed this person to I can have the five-minute conversation required. That's not to mention buying a for my router SonicWall support contract and a few hours on the phone with the support of SonicWall. And I can't exactly charge my client for all this time, since, according to them, it was my choice to switch routers.

Then, suddenly and without apparent reason, my monitor package starts list null source ARP requests ever two minutes - explicitly directed against each of the five usable on the WAN subnet IP addresses. And they come from a MAC address address of the gateway in my ARP cache is not. I find the manufacturer of this MAC and see who is Alcatel. It is a time key, but it doesn't mean anything to me at the time. Of course, my SonicWall blocks these and hack attempts. I connect to the border router and put in place a firewall in the journal rule, but don't see anything. I guess that's because their router must not be able to record the ARP packets.

More important still, however, my connection is more crashes after six hours. She stay up all night for the first time in 10 days. But the fact that things started working and there is no indication that a change had been made gives me no confidence that the problem has been resolved. Finally, I call the corporate number of the border and ask for the line of the complaint. Things happen in action. I get a call back from the regional manager in an hour. We exchange emails; I have him send a detailed explanation of the problem. He promises to get in touch with a network architect.

But it will take some time, and I'm starting to wonder if it was the change of Netis in WAN Netgear switch that actually corrected it (even if not it is meaningless), so that night I put the rear Netis in place. But, like a dummy, I also disable regular gratuitous ARP and restart my router - so make three changes at once and ensure that I will have no idea who we intervene if things are going to come back down). This morning... it back down again, as before. And again, when I have emptied my ARP cache, I'm up. So I sink into the site at the beginning and move the Netgear switch in place and reactivate gratuitous ARP.

An hour later, I get a call from one of the level 2 NT who worked on my case (via chat with level 1) early in the process. She says: "I went back to the case and was digging down through the chat logs. As soon as I saw ARP, I knew what the problem was, and I made the required change. "She explained that the Alcatel HAVE an option that should be activated when there are multiple WAN devices. In addition, my client's business is in the only place in the area where Alcatel terminals are still in use. Now at least I have someone who knows something and addressed to me, despite the fact that I was mean enough to buy my own router. None of the level 1 technicians I have met previously could even understand why - much less how - there could be more than one public IP address. One of them had even said, ' now you are chaining your router through ours, right? Nope. And maybe it's time this process 20 now-40 hours.

Well, I have yet a full explanation why things started working at the same time I started to see the ARP requests from null which are supposed to be the cause of misfortunes, but I guess there is something different about six o'clock - on-demand and what I see now. The tech called me had no explanation why replace the network switch would have broken things.

But he works right now and come about six hours since the last connection, so I should know shortly. Now I have the promise of a follow up directly from the Frontier network engineer and, above all, Frontier agreed to do without the Alcatel HAVE to an Ontario Calix - with which they have never seen issues ARP.

And finally, now I know to search for "Alcatel" and "ARP" together on Google - and found all the specific answers that identify the question to the ONTARIO Alcatel in combination with class routers business. Maybe now I can get back to all of my other clients whose projects have been waiting the last week and a half.

I'm sure that my life expectancy is just down by a couple of years.
