Thunderbird continues to ask my gmail password - is this a virus?

Everytime I open Thunderbird, and sometimes in the middle of work, Thunderbird displays this dialog box: "Please log in with your Google account below using your full e-mail address. Your password will not be stored. Click Cancel if you want to connect later. »

Thunderbird still works, although maybe I do not have access to my contact list? What is a TB dialog box? Will enter my PW fix it?

Thank you!

gContactSync synchronizes contacts and groups between Thunderbird and Google Contacts.
I'm not using this extension, however, you will need grant permission for the extension access your Google Contacts once. If you have not yet done so, the password is probably coming from the extension.

You can check this by disabling gContactSync in the Add-ons Manager. Restart Thunderbird and check if you get the password prompt. If this isn't the case, then you know that it is the extension.

If you do not use the extension at all simply uninstall.

  • Itried to install Thunderbird. He asked for a password. I gave him one, but it seemed that he knew and I didn't want. Can I get a new one?

I used to use Outlook Express, but my new computer has Windows Livemail, that I find very unsatisfactory. A friend recommended Thunderbird. I was getting much to install. Then he asked my e-mail address I gave and a password, so I gave him a. But as I said above she kept saying was wrong. I had this email for a long time since we got broadband first. Is it possible that there is a password that is attached to it that I didn't. Anyway, could I be given a new password to solve this problem as I'm really tired with Windows Livemail and impatient to try Thunderbird. Thanks for any help you can give.

If you want a new email password, you will have to ask your email provider. They administer email accounts. Thunderbird has nothing to do with your password by e-mail.

  • continue to ask an administrator password when you try to open my account.

    What is an administrator password

    Hello

    1. what operating system is installed on the computer?

A Windows operating system administrator password is the password for any account that is configured to access the administrator-level functions in Windows.

You need an administrator password in Windows if you try to run some types of programs or access to some of Windows 7, Vista and XP Recovery Tools.

  • Failed to install a certificate (.p12 file). Thunderbird keeps asking me the password.

    Hello

I'm running Thunderbird 31.5.0 on Windows 8.1. Trying to install a certificate (Options-> advanced-> Certificates-> view certificates-> import), the Certificate Manager brings me a master password (as expected), who is never accepted. No matter what I'm typing, the password prompt will appear again and so will never install the certificate. This product for .p12 as .pfx files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Problem solved. If someone stumbles across this post, I couldn't make it work because it was not sufficiently clear that Thunderbird has been asked for the password master and not the password to import the certificate.

If you have set a master password (recommended), you will need to enter (if you have not already in the same session) before you can import a certificate.

  • I changed my gmail password on my Mac mail application, but she always asks the password on my ipad

I changed my google / password gmail via Safari on my Mac and used a password generated Safari. The email clients on all my devices began to ask for the password. I entered manually on my MacBook, but each device is still asking for the new password. I have iCloud on all devices with active Keychain, I missed something because I thought that the password should be migrated to all other e-mail clients. Is there a way to do this automatically because the auto generated passwords are difficult to remember without having to type in and in more you can not copy and paste of the keychain, entry to the app on the iPad.

    Thanks for any help.

    Greetings, tmoore2310!

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. I see that your gmail password has been updated on your MacBook Pro upgrade to Mac OS Sierra. You also made certain that the iCloud Keychain on your Mac was aware of the update, but devices still require this password. I'll be happy to help you with this.

The first thing you want to make sure of is that you are connected to the same iCloud ID on all your devices. If it is in order, read this article to learn more, especially in this section:
    Get help using iCloud keychain

If you cannot synchronize iCloud Keychain with other devices

Make sure that your device is on a Wi - Fi or the cellular network. If the connection seems strong, try the following steps:

    1. turn off iCloud Keychain on all devices.
    2. turn on iCloud Keychain on the device that has the most up-to-date keychain items.
    3. turn on iCloud Keychain on your other devices. They will be updated with your iCloud new keychain.

    Hey gerald_c!

Thank you for your question to Apple Support communities.  I like to keep my mail synced on my app on my Mac, so I understand now that it works correctly. Read this article:

If Mail on your Mac continues to request your password.

Your email provider may reject your password for several reasons, including:

    • You do not use your current e-mail password. If you updated the password on another device, make sure you use the same password on this device.
    • Your email provider needs you to update or reset your password for security reasons. For example, if you have enabled Google two-step verification, your Gmail in Mail account now requires the appropriate passes app.
    • Your disabled email provider or suspension of your account. Your provider of e-mail for help.

Also, check if you can log into the AOL site directly with the password and see if the problem occurs.

Apparently, you have defined a master password at one point. The password protects passwords that Thunderbird remembered.
You can reset the password. More information in this article.
