Despite a few re-reboots system and 'Thunderbird' facilities, I still continue to see this message: "Thunderbird is already running, but does not."   To open the new window, you must first close the current Thunderbird process, or restart your system."

I'd hate to reinstall Window 8 again.  He could count the 3rd time in a year.

    Advice appreciated.

  • Date order of email? Spare part

    2 questions.

1 why Thunderbird shows all it's email lists in reverse order by default? Certainly, everyone wants the most recent email to be at the top if you do not have to scroll all the way and that's the way everybody does because it makes sense.
    2. every now and again Thunderbird question the fact that I don't have an attachment? Why would he do that? It seems to be tent without success to be too clever. Can I disable this useless installation permanently?
    Otherwise excellent program.

    Thank you

CCleaner has some merit, but I recommend that you do not allow him to analyze anything in Thunderbird as it can remove temporary files, session data, and the same passwords etc. If cancellation may everything you have selected and causing pain in the process if it is unclear.

You can configure exceptions in CCleaner. The contents of the Thunderbird profile folder must ideally be made exempt.

  • Hanging of Thunderbird 38, gel and does not question. 17 accounts pop (Win 8.1, MalwareBytes and Windows Defender)

Since the update of Thunderbird to 38.* I had nothing but problems with Thunderbird wedging (spinning wheel waiting), a "Mozilla Thunderbird (not answer) ' in the header bar, whiting of window application out and possibly TB box in hell - a small box to appear asking if I want to - close the program, expected so he can resolve itself , or check the internet, then close. I now give the floor it the box to hell (B2H - call it all you want, but I'm cursed every time he pop up!)

I did everything proposed here and nothing suits. I have used Thunderbird for years with all the same files and Add ons WITHOUT problem. On the first day of the 38 update everything has changed. When Mozilla realizes that it is in the upgrade and find the problem!

Here is what I tried with nothing working...
    1. I don't have AVG, the only malware bytes and windows defender
    2. it still happens in SafeMode with no active add-on.
    3. I stopped saving function which slows down the frequency of the sinking, but did not eliminate the problem.
    4. I have deleted hundreds of older emails, thinking it was that but who have done nothing.
    5. I changed some accounts of POP at the thought of iMAP that was the problem but nothing has changed.
    6. I made several attempts to patch both Mozilla support and outdoors on the net. Nothing works. Looking at all the people who have the same problems, I have to say that the problem is handling of file. I noticed that as the issue with others who have multi files and emails. The answer is not to reduce these volumes but to understand why thunderbird managed their fine before and what has changed to make the program hang now? Who should be on your end, taken responsibility. Keep us faithful and solve the problem...

    Here are my tips...

    A. I have several files and thousands of e-mails longer and have manged fines, as matter of fact, Thunderbird has been great. Then like a good stooge I approved the moz and did my upgrade to 38. Never had a problem before the upgrade. After the upgrade, everything went to *.

    B. the 38 version upgrade was a big change. When I look in the folder that has been labeled the envoys or Inbox folder (where all emails from each account is collected), all the emails listed would disappear when I moved my mouse over them! Emails disappearing! They were there in records specific e-mail below but not but in the case of head as if it were just a day earlier and with the upgrade. I thought that as an addition on the question and waited for the difficulty that happened not so long ago. Again, which could be a problem of record add-on.

    C. the upgrade to 38 were other issues, but if the madness going no problem was not bad enough, the problem seems to be growing with each ' update or bugfix that followed. Don't hold me to it but I think it was in 38.1.2 or 8 (I think that's it. I wasn't paying attention, but if I had known that I would have to tell it, I will!) That's when hanging interminably long. When the program closed at least I got a project saved, then I read on line that the problem was the registration of open messages, I turned the auto reduction. He did change the frequency of the hanging (white screen pause) and timing (where the B2H appears), but he was always there and always!

    D. I had hoped with 38.2 there will be improvements. Nothing has changed. I didn't know that 38.3 would make this change/fix, but it's not. If I write all this, so you have what I know as a loyal user since 2007.

    E. here is what you need to complete the picture. I'm on a PC running 8.1. on an Intel i7-4770, with 32 GB of ram, now you tell me when you will issue the update to fix the problem! Once again, Mozilla, I suggest you start by looking at how TB 38 manages several emails, files and archives. Not all of us have only one e-mail account. Most of us have been really happy with TB before 38. If you can't find the question, can you show us how to get back to a version prior to 38?

Thanks for listening and hope that helps!

  • Questions of master password and thunderbird

I just discovered that in thunderbird, the saved passwords are easy to see if you know where to look. I don't like this idea even if I'm the only user, so I want to have an additional password it but before I do I have a few questions so I hope someone can answer.

-I only use Thunderbird but not firefox. Now, I don't think it's a problem, but he says you must complete for each session. The fact that average each time I start up Thunderbird?

-When, in the worst case, I forgot my master password and will require an adjustment (is this possible in other browsers?) will be it delete all my boxes + Thunderbird mail or are only passwords saved in the list? I regularly make back ups of my mail but I forgot, I don't want all my mail to go poof when I forgot the master password.

The password protects the account passwords that you told Thunderbird to remember. It does not protect the content of the profile.

If this answers your question please mark the thread as "resolved".
    Thank you.

  • Simple question... How do to add pictures on the body of my MAILS found 1000 results for how can I add photos to my Thunderbird emails

How can simple question - I add photos to my mail body. But instead of the answer - found 1000 results for how can I add photos to my Thunderbird emails. There are answers that don't apply at all to the question anyway. Why must it be so difficult to get a simple answer to a simple question?

Thunderbird is a bit like Microsoft, all the reasons as I dumped MS Live Mail.

First, a lot of help for Thunderbird refers to the menus that may not be visible. It would be useful to you and us if you have your menus and toolbars visible.

    http://chrisramsden.vfast.co.UK/13_Menus_in_Thunderbird.html

Then, open a window of writing. Activate the menu and operate.

Now that you see an option "Insert"?

If this isn't the case, you can assign composing in plain text, which does not support embedded images.

Tools | Account settings| {Select account} | Composition & addressing and ensure "Compose messages in HTML format" are checked. If it is not already checked, go back to writing a message. No better now?

Once you have the mode of composition HTML goes, you can use Insert | Image or various permutations of copy - paste and drag - move to the body of your message.

    A manual of sorts: http://en.flossmanuals.net/thunderbird/composing-messages/

  • Thunderbird keeps questioning a former e-mail account that has been deleted and is not listed in the tools/options account

I even deleted and reloaded firefox, Thunderbird , but it continues to try to recover a deleted account emails. Where it becomes the info to try to access the account? Tools/choice of account does not contain the account more.

The title of the question and first sentence edited by moderator. This question is about Thunderbird, not Firefox. AW

Something was quite wrong. Settings that use Thunderbird cannot come from his profile, but if the account has been for settings and yet the account is always logged, then the settings page has become out of step with the real state of the profile. Note that uninstalling and then reinstalling the program Thunderbird are usually ineffective because the settings are kept separately in the profile folder.

I would go to tools | Options | Advanced > Configuration Editor and search for it references to the unwanted account and see if they can be removed by here. If this fails, I close Thunderbird and browse the js files in a text editor. If you do this, be sure to make backups, because if the files are preferably incorrectly formatted, Thunderbird will not start.

  • Why Thunderbird is "create a new account to get Satisfaction" when I want to ask a question

I know I'm bad place talk about Thunderbird, but Mozilla is a name that I trust.
When I want to ask a question in the site of Thunderbird, I had to make new account when I tried to post the question he is asked to make another account or use Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter.

Because of this kind of fraud and fake everything, I started using the security of Mozilla products, but it seems I was mistaken.

Just clarify why two accounts are required to ask a question?

    Thank you

Currently support.mozilla.org is not a Thunderbird help section. Firefox, Firefox for Android, OS of Firefox and Webmaker are under the banner of support.mozilla.org .

It has support for Thunderbird, as 2007 or 2008 Web site.

    https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-us/home

I don't use Thunderbird myself and I never did support in his favor, so I can't answer your question on GetSatisfaction. But I know that Mozilla has used GetSatifaction for the Firefox support in the past and is currently using "social media" for the support to the army of the great campaign.

As far as having to register at MozillaMessaging, none of the areas Mozilla share registration information. Addons.Mozilla.Org, the Addons Support forum, Bugzilla, SUMOand quality all require a separate registration and login. Mozilla Persona will unify this process in the near future.

Another Thunderbird support forum is here.
    http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=39
MozillaZine for a date back to the time where the Mozilla Foundation was founded and served the semi - "official support" for one for all Mozilla programs until this current SUMO forum started.

Many users of Firefox, SeaMonkey and Thunderbird long still use MozillaZine for any help or assistance there.

  • Question about multiple instances of Thunderbird running at the same time

I read that when you start Thunderbird by clicking on its icon or the shortcut must only load once, even if you click on it several times. It should be just a window of TB. If I click on the shortcut/TB desktop icon, it behaves like that. I can click several times and that a single TB window will open and be active.

However, if I run the 'quick launch' TB on my windows 8.1 (or no matter what windows) taskbar, I get mulitple TB windows to open, as much as I want. So if I click on TB icon in the quick launch once, I get a single instance of it. Twice, I get two, and etc. In the quick launch any program behaves like that. He starts programs with a single click and launch again and again.

Only, I click it once and get an instance which is good and how it should be. But this behavior with the quick launch is ok? It must do this not with Thunderbird? Thank you.

There is usually no advantage by running multiple instances of Thunderbird, unless specifically do you these race with different profiles. In practice, if they are allowed to use the same profile, the first Thunderbird should should acquire the profile and therefore block the others, although this may not become apparent until you try to salvage something, for example, a message, or to change certain settings.

Your multiple Thunderbird work successfully? They all show the same mixture of accounts, folders and address books? Can all or part of them save and make changes?

If this is the expected behavior, (i.e. some "typical" windows) I do not like; He does not play well with profile blocking and I think that lead to problems.

  • I wrote this question: chrome 503420 question and it seems to affect Thunderbird only.

So far no joy. I have
I use a script for bookmarks chrome to send a link and when he turns open Thunderbird with To: / / / <>in the field.
Don't know where it comes from or if it is important. Does not happen in other Thunderbird mail clients only.

I'm sorry. but without information on what your problem is it is difficult to guess what is happening. Your script uses links mailto or something else?

  • Question: What are the causes Thunderbird show "not responding" when deleting messages

Program is not responding for a few minutes when you delete one or more messages. Messages downloaded by POP3 account. There is no add-ins & plugins have been temporary. turned off. Remove work OK in safe mode but not in normal mode.

This is usually your anti virus software. Try to let your only email.

  • I have all asleep you answer my question or thunder birds garbage

What money do? Thunderbird is free. If you paid someone for him then it's your bad to be misinformed.

You actually ask a question here? I don't see anything other than a mug shot.

  • Thunderbird crashes after installation of vn 38.4. Solved. Cause - bad record?

(This question was published only because I could not respond to existing similar questions without registering first.)

Problem was apparently a Thunderbird randomly hanging after automatic update to 38.4 on Windows 7 Enterprise. The process of dropping out/no response took place a few minutes after start of TB, compose messages, send or download of IMAP mail.

Shortcut to the final solution - probably corrupted files or folders at the OS level.

For those who are conducting similar research I also watched the references linked below.

En route to the solution, various obfuscation were met, all of which were interesting but NONE OF THESE solved the problem of the suspension, namely:

-back to Thunderbird 38.1 extracted from Mozilla's FTP repository

-Disable all modules in SafeMode as suggested in posts below

-deactivation of reminders on calendar, pop ups and sounds like suggested in the posts below

-turn off sounds (in the systray) as suggested in posts below and new mail alerts

-Discover, finally, only one of the half-dozen or so synchronized account IMAPs has caused the problem, which is an account Exchange-synced via the excellent DavMail (Davmail upgrade to the latest version was another diversion)

-assuming that the compaction of TB was not his work and that he is too much vacuum/zombie files left lying around, leading to a redundant cleanup using Thunderfix (http://www.parhelia-tools.com/products/thunderfix/thunderfix.aspx), was nevertheless his cleaning of employment but not a solution

    What worked then...

The procedure of backup profiles recommended TB in Thunderfix and elsewhere led to discover that the copy of Windows has won at least one file during the copy. Suspecting lower level corruption, I ran chkdsk D: /f (since all data are on D: and not on C: with the operating system). No major problems found aprt of 4 files analyzed once again.

I resorted to the use of SynckbackSE to do the backup instead, noting that one of the failures was Junk.msf. That and the knowledge that the account linked to Exchange was the likely to be the culprit, I restarted and deleted everything in IMAPmail\localhost\ (DavMail connects via localhost stored files).

Restart Thunderbird (always on 38.1) and connect via DavMail pulled back all messages and folders from the source Exchange to resynchronize records localhost TB successfully. No need to use backup or same setting of TB.

Will probably now improve return to 38.1 after a period of stability.

After years of use of Thunderbird of the dowry of the year, it's nice to know that it was not primarily at fault.
