Time synchronization problem Windows XP

Time of Windows XP restores previous known good time on the reactivation of his sleep.  From the event log, I can see that the laptop starts at the correct time.  And then gets a time-out w32time awaiting answer.  Then, it resets the clock system at a time close to when I put the laptop to sleep, usually the day before.

Here is the error that appears in the log:

Event type: error
Event source: Service Control Manager
Event category: no
Event ID: 7011
Date: 10/02/2012
Time: 08:50:21
User: n/a
Computer: L-DFIN1181
Description:
Delay (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a response from the W32Time service transaction.

It is not synchronized to the correct time automatically, so I run NET TIME/SET to synchronize with the domain controller (since I'm in a field).  However, I have seen this behavior in the House as well (and then sync with time.windows.com).

It of really frustrative and tried to restart the w32time, restarted, even got my guy TI watch.  I think on a w32time timeout he would just try again, not reset the time at the time of previous synchronization.

He's probably reset the clock to the time of BIOS...

If the BIOS time reflects the time that the computer has been turned off, then that indicates usually that CMOS battery is almost dead and should be replaced (this is not the same as your laptop runs normally on battery).  Go to your computer manufacturer's website and download a manual for your computer and discover how the CMOS battery is replaced.  It is usually a quarter of battery companies (button) but that can vary from one computer to the other.

    Like James, I'm really not versed enough on AD to determine if the problem is there.

    Here as a test script that should help you to try out different options (credentials, ip, etc.) outside of the bundle, so you can speed up the trials.  I put it so its exactly like the VMMARK2.config that you sent, but it should be pretty easy for you to modify as needed.  Do not forget to leave orders STAF and run it from a shell.  Maybe a few different iterations will shed light on the problem.

  • Time synchronization problems ESX 3.5 U3

    Hello

    I have problems to our guests three 3.5 U3 to synchronize the time with the firewall. The ESX hosts are invariably run 4 minutes faster then the firewall. I checked the time synchronization on our NetApp and it works properly in line with the firewall. There is also a simple setting in the NetApp for maximum tilt. I can't find out why or how to fix this problem in hosts.

    Someone at - he seen this before?

    Thank you

    I noticed sometimes you need to (manually) sync successful for ntpd works correctly.  Try this:

    service ntpd stop

    ntpdate < ip.of.ntp.peer >

    service ntpd start

    This ntpdate command can be synchronized manually with your counterpart/Server ntp clock.

  • time synchronization problem

    I am looking to sync all my esx4/4.1 and ESXi5 Hosts with my server NTP automaticlly.

    Some hosts may synchronize the date and time, and every time I change the hour or day after some secend, he syinc but other guests can't syinc with NTP.

    is there a way to check the sync procces and how can I be sure about and correct

    given that most of the applications is synchronized with AD and so it is easy to manage a NTP in the environment which is AD, so if the ad is in my view it is good to add AD and the host esx esx hosts give AD as the NTP server

    It's pretty easy to set up your domain controller to support NTP and configure your hosts to talk--although it is necessary for all guests to join the domain as members.

  • 10g RAC on Linux with vmware - time synchronization problem

    Hello

    I installed 10g RAC on Linux with vmware server 1.0.5 on my machine.

    I knew that the time on the two nodes of the rac is different and goes out of sync.

    I set the time on both nodes, but after an hour, they are not synchronized.

    Their time is different with the time machine.

    Is there a way to put the two nodes at the time of synchronization with the time of the machine?

    Thank you
    Drane

    Hi drane

    Yes it is possible by the parameters of a time server ntp or get your servers synchronized with a time provider ntp.

    Hello Sir/Madam,

    Help! I have a pair of window Server 2008 R2 and a pair of window Server R2 2012, who are the synchronization of time to one destination.

    After that time synchronization is successful, the window Server 2008 R2 clocks are still 1 second faster than those in the 2012 window servers.

    Is there anyone who got the same problem as me?

  • Time synchronization with host ESX to Windows start even if disabled in VMware Tools?

    Hello

    just got in trouble with a freshly installed Windows XP SP3 VM do not apply Active Directory group policies. After some research, I discovered that this happened only with VMware Tools installed.

    With VMware Tools installed, Windows events 1030 and 1097 were generated at each start (the events say that group policy processing has been abandoned and that there is a time difference between the server and the client) and group policies have been applied.

    Without VMware tools, everything was fine.

    After some additional debugging I discovered that the ESXi (4.1) server was not configured with a valid NTP server and the host time was 10 minutes behind. However, as time synchronization between the guest OS and the ESX host has been disabled in VMware tools, I couldn't imagine it was really the cause of the problem. But strangely it turned out that this was indeed the case! At every Windows startup time has been at the time of the host ESX - but only for a few seconds. This can be seen in the attached photo: initially, there are guest operating system time, and then you see the jump both ESX and then jump back to the guest operating system.

    Why does this happen? Hard, I could solve the problem in the first place by configuring the NTP server on the host, I would like to know why VMware tools change the time of the guest OS, even if it is disabled!

    Thank you

    When he put the VM must draw from somewhere and since the AI network time form more that probably not started it must draw from the host, but once the networking appears he died in the NTP source - that's why it is recommended to configure your ESXi (and ESX) to synchronize the time with NTP source.

  • Check the configuration of time synchronization in ESX 4.1 for Windows domain

    Hello

    Sorry if this topic will cover many, but browsing the forums I found some conflicting info and thought that it easier to ask you if I had it correct.

    I'm ready to virtualize our Active Directory environment and put all our virtual machines RODCs.  We have an environment with 8 ESX hosts and vCenter 4.1.  Most VMs are Windows member servers, but also several RHEL servers and a few non-domaine joined Windows servers.  We have also two domain controllers that are already virtual machines.  I'm down to the last physical domain controller which is our role PDC FSMO server so the Master Timekeeper.

    That's how I was going to change our Setup for the services of time with all being virtual domain controllers.

    1. the virtual FSMO PDC of our clocks of field it is time via w32tm to an external time such as us.pool.ntp.org source. That's the only DC with an external time source.
    2. all the domain joined machines Windows, whether virtual or physical (servers and clients OS) get their time via the domain controllers.  PDC-> all the other DCs-> clients and member servers.  On VMS, we do not use VMTools do a time synchronization. Throughout the normal Windows AD process.
    3. all ESX hosts serve time source external PDC, described above.
    4. all the non-domaine attached (Windows or Linux) machines that are virtual machines get their time synchronization via the VMTools Sync feature.
    Have I not my correct thought and not its ok to ensure synchronization of time between the field in a virtualized ad environment?
    Thanks in advance,
    HR

    That sounds about right, and I've implemented almost identical to this designs. The key is, as you say, do not sync using the time host via VMware Tools, in particular on the role of the PDCe.

    I also usually use this method to ensure that the PDC (role 5) is the only way to an external time source:

  • PTP synchronization under Windows

    I currently use software ptp synchronization to synchronize the time on several systems of RT (PXI and cRIO CTMR), I now need to synchronize a windows on the subnet machine. Is there a windows program that performs the ptp synchronization a grand master RT?

    Hello Marcis-Andreis,

    the PTP sotfware for Windows machines options are very limited.

    As you can see here - http://www.endruntechnologies.com/ptp-slave.htm

    Windows XP, 2003, VISTA, Windows 7 (PTPv2 only)
    Choice of software PTP slave on Windows machines are very limited. Windows is not a real-time operating system and synchronization depends on the CPU and the version of the operating system. Software PTP slave is available from Greyware and is called domain time II. Your slave PTP can be synchronized to in a millisecond of the grand master (depending on the network topology) using this software.

    You can view the list on the wiki page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PTP_implementations#Software

    The biggest problem is that the Widows OS itself is non-deterministic, maybe you should consider using Linux where the options are better.

    For Linux, you can use the popular Pgwp package for example, you can go to PREEMPT RT, that make Linux more deterministic.

    But all depends on your application

    Please let me know if I can be useful here.

    Thanks and wish you good luck with your project.

    Best regards

  • Impossible to disable the time synchronization

    Hi all

    I'm very new to VMware player, so sorry if this topic has jet were treated / my questions are obvious.

    I am running Windows 7 Pro as a guest in VMWare Player 3.1.0 host system is Windows XP. The client Windows 7 Pro as created directly from VMware

    Player (create a new Virtual Machine...). Everything is ok and the

    Created virtual OS with success of the DVD ISO. I want to disable the synchronization of the time of the guest computer, but I can not: opening the virtual machine (in a State of suspension), comments clock is synchronized after a few minutes.

    Here is a list of steps / attempts to solve the problem (without success):

    • I installed VMware tools, disable the synchronization of time in the menu "options".

    tools.syncTime = "FALSE".

    Tools.Synchronize.Restore = "FALSE".

    Time.Synchronize.Resume.Disk = "FALSE".

    Time.Synchronize.continue = "FALSE".

    Time.Synchronize.Shrink = "FALSE".

    • Inside "Internet time" synchronization is disabled.

    • Guest network card is disabled

    Thanks in advance for the help.

    This article is old - see more information http://sanbarrow.com/vmx/vmx-always-start-tonight.html

    you need more than two parameters since some versions - you have 5 - you have all 7

    tools.syncTime = "FALSE"
    time.synchronize.continue ="FALSE"
    time.synchronize.restore = "FALSE"
    time.synchronize.resume.disk = "FALSE"
    time.synchronize.resume.memory = "FALSE"
    time.synchronize.shrink = "FALSE"
    time.synchronize.tools.startup = "FALSE"
