to decrypt the HDD
Unfortunately, that's the problem with a product of strong encryption... Once encrypted, if you lose the key, decryption is not possible. I hope you had backups of all critical files.

"password incorrect provided to decrypt the private key"
The keys that I generate on my Mac are unusable. Still, I get "incorrect password provided to decrypt the private key". In this case, whether or not I generate with a password.
This is the process I use:
ssh-keygen - t rsa-n mypassphrase f my_id
Generate the key pair public/private rsa.
Your identification has been saved in my_id.
Your public key has been saved in my_id.pub.
The fingerprint of the key is: etc etc
Then to check:
ssh-keygen - y f my_id.pub
Enter the password: mypassphrase
Loading key 'my_id.pub': incorrect password supplied to decrypt the private key
Anyone have an idea what is wrong? Thank you.
Turns out I had wrong instructions to the admin of the server I tried to connect to. He wanted me to use the .pub file when connecting via ssh. So what I tried to solve the problems. But that is never going to work, because the password is used to decrypt the private key, not the public key. So when I change my test to "ssh-keygen - y f my_id ' it works fine. Should have tried first. DOH.

Satellite T110 - how to change the HDD to protect?
I just got a Satellite T110-107 on Windows 7.
My drive hard protect seems to have turned itself off and I cannot turn it on again, all the buttons are "grayed out".
Hello
Do you mean the HDD Protection Utility? If so, I would recommend reinstall this tool. You can find it on the Toshiba site:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download driversAlso check that the latest version of the BIOS is installed.
Good luck! :)

Satellite U940-100 - replace the HDD SSD
Hello
I want to change my Sat U940-100 by a SSD HARD drive.
I can make a perfect copy but when I change the HDD SSD won't.
Can someone explain me what I have to do?I think it has to do with het SSD of 32 GB, which is already inside?
What I have to change something in the BIOS?Thanks in advance
Dag
What do you mean it won't? What did you do exactly?
In my opinion after Exchange of HDD with SSD, you must install the original recovery image and start using your laptop with the 'settings '.

Increases the size of the "HDD Recovery" folder on the partition "D".
I am the owner of laptop Toshiba Satellite, recently, I noticed that my D: drive (unused) is saturated and after careful analysis I realized that the "HDDRecovery" file size is > 200 GB.
I don't want to remove the file or remove image files inside that I need the functionality of recovery, but I have not a clue how to handle the recovery process to decrease the volume.
Do you have an idea how this issue?
Wojtek
Hello
It seems strange to me that the size of the HDD recovery folder would increase up to 200 GB continuously. Probably for laptop computer stores files backup automatically in this folder, but I m not very well why
However, I recommend you to create a recovery media (recovery disk) using the Toshiba
Recovery media creator (this software pre-installed on the Toshiba laptop). The use of disk recovery (or USB key recovery) would fix the laptop back to the factory and even if settings you should remove the folder in HARD drive recovery or the entire partition, this partition, and these files would be created again.
Hope that this information could be useful for you.

Computer laptop need to change the HDD in the SDS?
Have 3 questions related to the Toshiba SSD!
1. what laptop need to change the HDD in the SDS?
ATA, http://www.toshiba.com/taec/adinfo/ssdfacts/ so 1.8 and 2.5, I look at who is the same dimenssions and right?2. I have this model Toshiba R200-S2031, is it possible to change drive HARD 80-SSD 256 1.8 inches? I understand that my model has 1.8 IDE I can't take 2.5? But replace IDE ATA is possible that they are the same size?
3. If I R500 with 64 SSD drive, can I replace it it with greater SDS and the same size of thumb? Let's say I have 2.5 64 GB SSD ich so I could replace it with 500 GB SSD?
tnaks for answers.
and Toshiba - thanks to make small laptops, really enjoy.
you want to update faster, but I LIKE THEM!
Thanks Toshiba!Husbands
(1) as a general rule, all laptops can be upgraded to an SSD. If the connector on the SSD is the same as the original hard drive connector, it should work.
(2) I believe there are 1.8 "PATA SSD available, google is your friend.
(3) I think the R500 is using a connector ZIFF customized for the SSD drive, then you will not be able to install a standard SATA or PATA 2.5 "SSD Drive. I don't know if you can buy SSDS with the connector ZIFF, once again, google can help you.

What I need is to know if its possible and if you can you explain to me how its done.
I searched the Web for an answer for tha last 4 hours and I thank you
> Many people say that it is possible using the HDD Recovery folder that I have on my D drive and it s 13.5 GB
A lot of people said you can use HARD drive recovery in order to put the system back to factory settings.
This true s but this is possible ONLY if the system has not been modified. In case you have changed the system, you could go back to the factory settings using the recovery disk!
Recovery disk may be created using the preinstalled tool called Toshiba Recovery Media Creator.Have you created this disc in the past!

Can I put the HDD on Portege R400?
Hello
I would like to ask, if it is possible to upgrade the drive HARD internal on Portege R4OO. I would like to change my internal 80 GB 4200 RPM HARD drive to any thing with 5400 or 7200 RPM, is this possible? I think, that I have Toshiba MK8007GAH there and is 1.8 "HARD drive, somewhere I can buy 1.8" HDD at 5400 RPM or higher?
Thank you
Hello
You can upgrade the HDD on the Portege, but the HARD drive must be compatible!
You have a 80 GB (4200 RPM) Slim PATA (1.8-inch) MK8007GAH) HARD drive. In my opinion, you can also use a 100 GB and 120 GB HDD with higher rotation. This should t be a problem.
Check this box and come back and display the result.
Best regards

Upgrade the HDD on the Satellite U200
3 months ago I bought a Toshiba SATELLITE PRO U200 Jarir Bookstore in Saudi Arabia and I now want to move the HDD of 80 GB to 160 GB.
However, I note that 1.46 GB the drive hard EISA is partitioned and is not assigned a drive letter. I guess that's the operating system or something like the laptop came preloaded with Windows Vista Business.
I have the DVD of restoration and would normally just mount the new drive and boot from the DVD following the same procedure as a normal PC. But I can't copy the EISA partition on the new disk. How to pass on the new disk?Hello
Why not to duplicate the entire HARD drive on the new. There are enough programs fulfil-> www.ubcd4win.com.
Otherwise just install your new HARD drive in your machine, perform a restore of the system on your new HARD drive, copy your files on it and that's all. Don t worry about the partition, if it s on your old HARD drive and restoring the system should probably create it on the new hard drive.
You won´t know until you've tried it. :)
Please give some feedback after your restored your system, would be interesting to know if the recovery has created a new partition "EISA".
Welcome them

How to replace the HDD on Satellite 1130?
How to replace the hard drive in this notebook?
Hello
If I remember well HDD is under the optical media drive. Optical media drive is fixed with a screw that you see above the player. Remove the screw and remove the drive from the Bay.
HARD drive is fixed, I think, 4 screws (probably black). When the screws are removed you can use two fingers to remove the HDD from the connector plug. I hope you now know how to put the new HARD drive.
Good bye

How to remove the HDD on my Satellite A60 password?
Hello
I have a problem with my hard drive on my Satellite A60. I want to restore my computer with the DVD-rom, but my HARD drive is not detected in the BIOS. I have test the HDD, utilities and it says that the HARD drive is locked with a password?
What is this password? I have not active this password and I don t know how to release it.
Can you help me? I have restored the default setting in the BIOS, without success. Help me!!!(I'm sorry for my bad English)
You can t remove a HARD drive password. No one can do that.
I put t understand why this happened, but check the HARD drive in a laptop or in an external enclosure.
Maybe the drive is defective and must be replaced.

How to partition the HDD using the recovery CD - Satellite P35-S6112
Hi all
First of all, I've read tons of messages within this support site and then decided to open a thread.
My laptop model Nr: P35-S6112
Recovery DVD code: TK143/PMAE00127012
OS: Windows Xp home editionI'm trying to re - install the sytem with two disk partitions, but no luck. Recovery DVD (procedure) gives me no opportunity to separate the HDD in two different partitions, also commonly known as C and D when you reinstall the system.
Many experts support claim that appears during installation install two modes and (Expert Mode) allows the user to divide the hard disk into partitions.
Please, let me explain how to re - install.
(A-) I simply recovery dvd in the drive and start the dvd player.B-) first black screen comes and asks confirmation to proceed for recovery (F1 means yes.)
C-) second screen with two warnings as described below.
1-) to ensure that the recovery CD/DVD is in the CD/DVD drive.
2-) keep the CD/DVD in the drive until you are prompted to rremove it.
Continue to press (C). To cancel press (A)?D-) then I select (C) and the recovery procedure starts without asking me if I want to separate disk in different partitions. Then, installation ends and creates an entire C: drive.
I would like to know if this partitioning function is included in the recovery DVDs or should I have to pay for additional software separate my hard drive into two partitions of poor?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hello
Recovery for laptops models European procedure is very well known to me, but I think you have a model of portable U.S. unfortunately I didn t see how it works for laptop computers in the United States, but I guess it must be similar to European models.
In any case if you say that you cannot use the installation in expert mode I believe you. If there is no way to use recovery media I recommend you use the Partition Magic software. It is a very powerful software and the use you can manage HARD drive and create clean partitions or change the ability of persistence of partitions already.
Good luck!

Upgrade the HDD in Equium M50-192
Hi all
I have a laptop Equium M50-192 with the HDD 60 GB MK6021GAS inside.
Does anyone know if I can improve it with the hard disk of 120 GB MK1646GSX.I found the site http://www.storage.toshiba.eu and I checked the two discs; but I don't know if the MK1646GSX disk has a compatible interface type.
I am confused about the differences between ATAPI/IDE (60 GB MK6021GAS) and Serial ATA (120 GB MK1646GSX).Basically can anyone tell me if the 120 GB MK1646GSX will work instead of the 60 GB MK6021GAS?
Any help gratefully received.
Zoe
Hello
There is a big difference between the IDE HDD and the SATA HDD interface!
Equium M50 supports the IDE interface and only IDE hard drives are compatible.
You can use a HARD drive that supports IDE ATA-6 interface. In addition, you should know that the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation. This means that not all HARD drive sizes are supported.
In my opinion the 120 GB should be ok but it s just my personal suggestion. You know? ;)concerning
