Tomact as an application server for Essbase 11.1.1

Dear all,

The management decided to move our IBM Websphere 6 application (Web server) server to Tomcat to the cost-effectiveness.

I've nt used Tomcat as Web front server and I appreciate if you can share your experience or any documentation that helps me integrate Tomcat as the Web server for Essbase 11.1.1

for the most part, I'd be interested to know the required port number and artifacts (war files) necessary.

Thanks in advance

See you soon

and this ID seems to be later.

I think you look the wrong file, if you look at epm_sys_cfo_tool.xls then the igoes target up to the latest version

    Hello
Why don't you use HOST or WEBUTIL_HOST command to delete files of APPLICATION SERVER for example...

    HOST('DEL FILEPATH\FILENAME.EXT');
    or
    HOST('CMD /C DEL FILEPATH\FILENAME.EXT');

    or

    WEBUTIL_HOST('DEL FILEPATH\FILENAME.EXT');

Function Webutil_File works on the client side. See the documentation for webutil.

  • version of the application server to be installed to make use of the package-srw

    Hello

If we have 9.2. version of the database, is there a specific version of the reporting services must be installed in order to use the srw package?

    Thank you
    Sisi

    Sisi,
The package SRW is a built-ins primary packaging in the Oracle reports. It is available in all versions of reports since the 2.5 version (at least that's when I started to use the reports and the package was there). :-) I think the more appropriate question is: which version of reports is your report created with files and use this version on the server. If you configure the Application Server for the first time and you will begin to develop reports using Oracle reports Builder, then I suggest to use the latest version of Oracle (10 g version) reports.

    I hope this helps.

  • Which server will use more RAM? Essbase server or Application Server?

I will install 11 Hyperion Planning and Hyperion related components in Windows 2003.
I use 3 Windows servers, 1 is for Essbase, 2nd is for SQL DB for the repository, 3rd will include: Weblogic, Shared Service, planning, Service Provider, ODI Server. The Essbase data size is 12-15G G, only 30 users.

    My question is:
For servers of the 1st and 3rd, that you will use more RAM and CPU?

I guess for the next setting, Essbase is using most of the CPU and RAM, please correct me and advise, thank you!
    -------------------------------
Essbase server: hosted on 1 physical server, with 4 Quad Core CPU and 16 GB of RAM 4 x E7440 Xeon (Quad) / 2.4 GHz
SQL Server: hosted on 1 physical server with 4 CPU Quad Core and 8 GB RAM 4 x E7440 Xeon (Quad).
    2.4 GHz
Web services: Will be hosted on the physical server 1 with 2 Quad Core CPU and 8 GB of RAM of 2 x (quad core) E5520 / 2.26 GHz
I guess for the next setting, Essbase is using most of the CPU and RAM, please correct me and advise, thank you!

^ ^ ^ I think you're right, especially if you start construction of new apps/dbs.

Yes, other applications chew the memory, but not as fast as Essbase does, particularly with the BSO apps.

  • Application server: duplicate entries for the same machine in the screen "select a Mac".

The application Sever on one of my computers has several duplicate entries in the initial screen "choose a Mac" that appears just after the launch of the application server where you choose the particular Mac which you want to connect.

My server is in the local IP 10.0.0.5, but there are two entries for it in the list for a reason any, as you can see here:

I can choose is entered to connect without a problem. They seem to be legitimate duplicates. So I would like to remove one of them.

Does anyone know where these entries are stored in the file system, or how to remove one of them in the list?

You can manually edit the plist, or simply remove to rebuild the entire list:

  • Using application server MCG for pushing BB

    Hi all!

I am currently a porting Android to BB10. This application supports push notifications and I wish the portability to BB10 too. I understand the client side manages very well now. However, what I wonder is:

On the page "Creation Push.enabled Android apps", he said "a similar web query." Then here in the forums and the SDK push he speaks on the PAPER size. So the question is: what changes should I actually do my application server to push properly? The page doesn't have much info on this topic... In reading the page I I would assume switch simply the URL for the BB it and value. But now I guess this isn't the case?

If we really need to use a completely different format to the push initiator, then this should be documented here. Cause, that would mean that we really need to implement from scratch.

    Thank you

    Max

The format you send must be the same - the only difference is to send it to the BlackBerry instead of GCM servers. The only tricky part is to know what kind of device the user is on.

  • Separate RDBMS server for high load applications

    Hi all

    I have 2 requests below

1 Apps1 with 10 TB expected data and 400 concurrent users

2 applications 2 with 20 TB of expected data and 800 concurrent users.

our management thinks we should have servers of RDBMS oracle separate for each of the above to reduce the load.

I told them that this isn't the right approach, tomorrow we will need another Apps3 application and we will assign a new server? additional license?

I tried to convenced that load balancing should not be adopting the same, which is dedicating a separate server for each application.

They asked me to motivate good why we should have a single database server.

I have a few points, but I need your ideas, maybe something I don't know or maybe I missed something.

    Please guide me with this.

    Thank you.

Size of the database does not dictate the overhead on the database.

In the database environment, performance boils down to I/o. The more necessary e/s, the processing load factor.

For example, the 20 TB database are accessible by 10,000 users primarily use unique indexes and especially the small range scans index. In which case the processing load will be nearly identical if this database was 500 GB in size - as the I/O load is compatible.

And then we can get a 500GB database where most queries are either full, index table full, analyses the nature of the data and business questions - which will be the factor of 20 minor look to database processing load.

Size of database so only, is a poor metric to use to determine the necessary type of RDBMS environment.

As you have a network using large enough storage (30 + TB by the sounds of it), I would start with that as the basis to decide what kind of infrastructure and architecture are necessary.

What is a SAN? What is NAS? To use fiber, iSER FCoE, Ethernet or Infinband or RPS? RAID is done at the server storage layer, or is it a JBOD which are abnd scratched in the opposite direction to the ASM? Etc.

As I/O plays the major role in the performance, I can't be sure that it is optimal.  Because the storage layer contains critical business data, I would support HA and redundancy. As volumes of data increase forever, I would make sure to evolve.

I see three basic options. Keep the existing storage layer and infrastructure development. Replace the layer of storage with something else. Download Exadata Database Machine.

Given the userbase sizes and volumes you mentioned, I would seriously consider Exadata. And no, RDBMS licenses should be identical, if not cheaper (less expensive that db servers off-load processing to storage nodes, which requires less db server processor cores).

  • 8.3 tested SP1 configuration JDK for WebLogic Server (application server)

The base 8.3 had JRockit JDK Sun JDK as well as a tested configuration.

More late 8.3 SP1 counts Sun JDK as a tested configuration.

Can someone comment on that. If I decide to deploy SP1 with the latest available patch just 8.3 use Sun's JDK tested for the application server?

JRockit JDK is supported with P6 EPPM 8.3 SP1 and latest fix. The tested configuration for SP1 and above is an indication that additional certification of the last JDK was made. This does not necessarily mean that you have to upgrade to it, well recommended. Review the SP1 patch readme for more information.

  • Newbie question for the Oracle application server

    Hi Master,
a DBA I am interesting to broaden my skill with learning on the application server.
I knew that in the past before Weblogic bought by Oracle, Oracle, always using Oracle application server.
Now with the Weblogic gaining more popularity on the market, which is the product the value of learning and get certified.

Is it still useful to take Application Server 10 g or go with Weblogic. in certification path, Weblogic 10 g.
WebLogic now replaces the Oracle application server, average abandoned Oracle Application Server?

Please enlighten me and thank you for your help

    Lie

Question if I go for Oracle WebLogic Server 10 g Administrator Certified Expert System it will be good to work with 11g thus?

Make it part of the same system (now). Like WebLogic is the portal and the Jukebox, forms etc. are the records.

What book other than the documentation that you have found the right one for learning.

Yet to find one, Oracle documentation was OK.

Is it better to learn the Linux or Windows version?

Both are very well, choose the operating system you know better.

I built my Middleware on Linux 64-bit test. Note that the 32-bit version allows to run Forms and Reports Developer.

    Beware of pre-installation tasks

    Install the Oracle database
    Linux RCU (repository creation utility)

    Database

Use an existing database. (And it worked)

My test was divided into four main parts: (in this order)

Installation of the regional coordination unit
    WebLogic Server Install
    Install JRocket
    Forms and reports Install

According to me, it took me two or three times to do things. (or at least work)

I found myself with these URLs in the end:

    Administration Server Console http://Host/console 7001
    Enterprise Manager Console http://Host/em 7002
    Enterprise Manager Agent http://Host/emd/main
    Oracle Forms http://Host/formes/frmservlet 9001
    Oracle reports http://Host/rapports/rwservlet 9002

So far, I have only an addition to my Web Page:

    http://www.Visi.com/~mseberg/compile_forms_on_wl.html

    As always this work orders:

    ./opmnctl status

I was able to add PHP after you apply the hotfix 9292625.

Note of Oracle that I found useful

  • Application requirements for the Application of ADF Fusion Web Server deployment

    Hi all

What I need to know is the following:
If I develop an Application of Web of merger, based on the ADF business components, ADF Page lifecycle, pages JSF, and ADF Rich Faces components, using JDeveloper 11 g, can I deploy it successfully on an Oracle 10 g R3 application server? I mean, is fully compatible with an older application server such as Oracle Application Server 10 g R3 Oracle Application Development Framework? Or should I wait for a version 11g of the OAS?

I know the Oracle JAVA application server is Weblogic, but I need to know that it is a must for the deployment of generation of ADF with JDeveloper 11 g applications.

No, you can not - ADF 11g requires Java EE 5.0 - which means you need to WLS 10.1.3.1.

In my view, it is not applicable to the installation of R12, you can omit this step. If you have a stand-alone server Oracle AS10g and you must apply this hotfix, you must then check if the EJB is used or not.

  • License for SOA Suite 11 g includes the application server

I'm searching through the information about the version 11 g SOA and it does not include a license to the WebLogic Server. Can anyone confirm that I need to allow the appropriate WebLogic 11 g of basis to perform SOA Suite 11 g on separately. I wish I could find a definitive statement about this on the website of Oracle or in the documentation.

I really disagree with you be here.

There are two ways to buy SOA Suite according to http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/technology-price-list.pdf

A case for non-oracle middleware (essentially Websphere or JBoss now since weblogic's oracle)

One option for the Weblogic Suite. You can't buy SOA Suite standalone, you must buy it with Weblogic Suite.

Finally, what you say is not necessarily true about the upgrade. Yes, updates are normally included in the support budget, but more current owners of SOA Suite purchased by the Internet Application Server EE (OC4J). Running to 11g on OC4J is not an option, then they will have to migrate licenses of Weblogic Suite, which are more expensive. If you have purchased SOA 10 g recently with Weblogic Suite, you can freely move to 11g.
