Newbie question for the Oracle application server

Hi Master,
a DBA I am interesting to broaden my skill with learning on the application server.
I knew that in the past before Weblogic bought by Oracle, Oracle, always using Oracle application server.
Now with the Weblogic gaining more popularity on the market, which is the product the value of learning and get certified.

Is it still useful to take Application Server 10 g or go with Weblogic. in certification path, Weblogic 10 g.
WebLogic now replaces the Oracle application server, average abandoned Oracle Application Server?

Please enlighten me and thank you for your help

Lie

Question if I go for Oracle WebLogic Server 10 g Administrator Certified Expert System it will be good to work with 11g thus?

Make it part of the same system (now). Like WebLogic is the portal and the Jukebox, forms etc. are the records.

What book other than the documentation that you have found the right one for learning.

Yet to find one, Oracle documentation was OK.

Is it better to learn the Linux or Windows version?

Both are very well, choose the operating system you know better.

Best regards

mseberg

I built my Middleware on Linux 64-bit test. Note that the 32-bit version allows to run Forms and Reports Developer.

Beware of pre-installation tasks

Install the Oracle database
Linux RCU (repository creation utility)

Database

Use an existing database. (And it worked)

My test was divided into four main parts: (in this order)

Installation of the regional coordination unit
WebLogic Server Install
Install JRocket
Forms and reports Install

According to me, it took me two or three times to do things. (or at least work)

I found myself with these URLs in the end:

Administration Server Console http://Host/console 7001
Enterprise Manager Console http://Host/em 7002
Enterprise Manager Agent http://Host/emd/main
Oracle Forms http://Host/formes/frmservlet 9001
Oracle reports http://Host/rapports/rwservlet 9002

So far, I have only an addition to my Web Page:

http://www.Visi.com/~mseberg/compile_forms_on_wl.html

As always this work orders:

./opmnctl status

I was able to add PHP after you apply the hotfix 9292625.

Note of Oracle that I found useful

  • Apex can work without the oracle application server? How?

    My question is exactly what the title says.

    Apex can work without the Oracle application server?

    I heard that there need a webserver to work but not necessarily the oracle application server.
    Is this true?

    With ONLY apache installed apex can work on it?

    Thank you

    Hello

    Take a look at the Setup Guide that covers all the different options you have (as there are a some variations).

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E14373_01/install.32/e13366/TOC.htm

    But yes, in short, you can have a configuration where there is no external Web server that uses the embedded PL/SQL gateway.

    Hope this helps,

    John.

  • Deploy a war in the Oracle application server

    Hello

    We have a few Oracle discoverer running on the oracle application server and I would like to deploy a war to the service file.
    Can someone tell me if its possible to do?
    Should I just drop the war in the deployment of the server folder?

    Thank you

    Wrong forum.

    Move the thread (close and re-post) to each of discoverer
    or somewhere in http://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=193 (probably Oracle ACE - general forum).

    Default password for user 'oc4jadmin! I'm not aware of this user in 10.1.2.x, maybe there's one of OC4J side but not otherwise. If you are looking for credentials to connect to OracleAS controls (EM), the username is "ias_admin" and password is the one you specified during the installation. There is no default password. Refer to this:
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B14099_19/core.1012/b13995/tools.htm#i1075023

  • How to check if the discoverer is installed in the oracle application server?

    Hello

    I'm a developer, and I had an obligation to prepare a few reports of discoverer.

    However, I am new to Discoverer and as a result, I am facing problems during indexing of discoverer as Oracle Applications users.

    When I give the credentials, it asks me to choose a responsibility, and then he throws me error like "invalid username/password".

    applied patches according to metalink notes.

    but before that, I would like to know if I can really see whether or not the discoverer has been installed on the server of Oracle Applications.

    As my DBA also ignorant of the installation of discoverer, he also could not help me in this.

    How can we check if the discoverer has been installed on the server side and if not, how do install us it?

    Sorry for the stupid question.

    Hello

    The owner EUL is APPS and I might be able to connect to the Admin with this database user.

    I think you have an installation of database in mode EUL. You may not use APPS as the owner of the END user license. Therefore, you need to create a new mode of EUL requests in a separate schema.

    Is it possible that we can connect to Disco Admin/Desktop tool as a user of the database even though Disco is not installed on the server of Oracle Applications

    Yes, no problem. You only need server discoverer of applications if you want to use more or spectator.

  • How to analyze by using URL parameter in the oracle application server?

    Hi all

    I have a problem.

    I've done the configuration in [app_server] \formsweb.cfg

    [ABC]
    archive_jini = f90all_jinit.jar, new_Version.jar
    Width = 750
    height = 700
    separateFrame = true
    splashScreen = no
    lookAndFeel = oracle
    colorScheme = Red
    form = ABC01.fmx
    envFile = ABC.env

    the form ABC01.fmx have a 2, JobID and RUNID parameter

    and I call the form like this

    http://190.180.23.12:7778/forms90/f90servlet? config = ABC? JobID = J001 & RUNID = 77

    but I can't launch the form because there are 2 parameters.

    If I remove the parameter, the form can run.

    is it possible to analyze the parameter in the URL?

    Thank you very much for your sharing.

    Kind regards
    Iwan

    Hello!
    Please try:

    http://190.180.23.12:7778/forms90/f90servlet?config=ABC&otherparams=JobID=J001+RUNID=77

    Concerning

  • Log4j logging on the Oracle application server.

    First of all, don't know where to post this, but this seems to be the most active forum in general.
    And the issue of cuts in good number of technologies/products.

    For common.logging-based logging, the IAS has the ability to dynamically adjust the loglevel during execution.
    This can be done under the administration of container and the logging configuration. All the registered papers will display. Newspapers at least all registrants based on common logging. But those of log4J are not displayed.

    He is a brilliant feature for debugging problems in a production environment.

    However, when you use log4j seems not possible more.

    I do not understand why, and no one knows how to fix this?

  • capture the data of Internet users access to oracle application server

    How to capture the details (for example, user, date & time of session id, ip address, etc) of all users (in home, vpn access, etc.) to access the oracle application server.

    Hello

    concerning

  • OC4J & Oracle Application Server.when which use? relationship between?

    In regards to Java EE platforms, I'm used to working with Sun, Glassfish platforms and Servlet as Tomcat containers.

    However, I need some straightening with the application servers Oracle... at least the three things that I called an... application server that is:

    • Weblogic server
    • Oracle Application Server
    • OC4J.

    I assumed the main specific questions, I have this topic are:

    (1) are all Java application servers?

    (2) what is the division of labour between all of them? [they all work like servlet containers?] [or JNDI, etc...?] Or completely overlap their functions... or just partially?

    (3) are each one interchangeable [by that I mean: is only used at the time, they work in a hierarchy - for example, if someone wants to use the Oracle application server can use by itself or must they first OC4J?]

    I have much more difficulty in finding answers to well known topics, [as I am assuming that the use of application servers is]; at least, a much more difficult that I have do to find how to customize the code that I need and other steps down the line.
    I have read a large part of the documentation for these, but many blurs the line between the uses of OC4J and OAS, so what hole in the functionality of the OAS brings WebLogic in the image.

    Thus, any help at all that someone can provide would be much appreciated.

    Thank you!

    1. the EM console is a Web application designed to manage the instance and you are allowed to create many OC4J containers according to the needs, think this OC4J as a case of Tomcat, which will have as much FMV to the need (something that still has no BCI).

    2 branch oracle BEA and Weblogic became to be the OAS Java container and they decied to change the name of OAS BCI and they will keep some OAS products and replace other BEA for use in BCI.

  • Oracle Application Server 10g cloning - Urgent

    Hi all
    I received a new assignment, which involves Oracle 10g application server, I am new to oracle application server and hoping that someone will specify please my doubts.

    I clone a production machine (Solaris 10), which has oracle 10 g, this machine was Oracle database 10g before and just the application server has been installed on this subject, I need to clone a test environment for this machine, I have two following doubts

    (1) is it possible to install just Oracle Application server 10 g on a computer that already contains the database oracle 10 g, in the affirmative, whereas on the database that is installed when you install the Oracle 10 g application server.

    (2) how to clone the machine of production above, the oracle 10 g database can we clone first, and then the application oracle 10 g cloned on the new server machine?

    A response with impatience

    (1) Yes, it is possible. The DB that comes with the OAS, as DB infrastructure for it (I assume that you install a full OAS with infrastructure and environments times) does not affect the DB that you already have on your system... of course... as long as install you them in their separate homes.

    (2) I always say, the term cloning is used a bit loosely, in the sense of general communication making copies. In the context of the OAS, cloning works for middletiers only. You can't clone an infrastructure.

    To make an alternate/redundant environment for the OAS, you can proceed as follows:
    (- a) is using the same infra on computer 1 and install another high and register with the same infra.
    (b) or to install another infra on machine 2, and also an environments registered with it.

    Here for the first option (a), cloning can be used because you can (* only *) clone an intermediate layer. There are advantages and disadvantages of this facility, including that you share the SSO and OID, and therefore the users and the groups of bases, etc. on these two environments - something you can or don't want to. But then, there are also a few outputs so as to avoid or minimize their effects too. Please see the following reference for cloning and research on Metalink to minimize the effects, once you get more familiar with the process.

    The Oracle® Application Server Administration Guide

    [Cloning 10 Application staging server Instances | http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/core.1012/b13995/cloning.htm#BCGBDIDF]

    For (b), you will need to step a server as defined in the present reference.
    [11 staged from a Test to a Production environment | http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/core.1012/b13995/prodtest.htm]

    There are a few notes on Metalink related questions about benefits or procedures for cloning and staging of an environment too.
    There are other ways for export/transport your applications to another instance through DB. Please also read about them.

    hope that helps!

  • Installing Oracle Application Server 10g 10.1.2.0.2 on RHEL 5.3

    Dear all,

    My version of Linux is RedHat 5.3

    I want to install oracle 10g Application Server on this subject please help me to do.

    Please help me, thanks in advance.

    Please provide me with the link to the documentation for installing Oracle Application Server 10 g 10.1.2.0.2 on RHEL5.3

    Thanks and greetings
    Yvon Das

    install Oracle Application Server 10 g 10.1.2.0.2 on RHEL5.3

    Said that the OAS 10.1.2.0.2 is desupported, you must apply the patch 10.1. 2.3 to be fully certified on RHEL/OEL 5.

    See MOS doc. ID 564174.1 Oracle Application Server 10 g (10.1.2) Installation Requirements for Linux OEL 5 and RHEL 5

  • Oracle Application Server 10g R3 with patch set 10.1.3.5.0

    Hi all

    Can someone help me on this point, when I install Oracle Application Server 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0) and patch set 10.1.3.5.0 on Linux. I'm not able to find the container forms and reports.

    This version does not support forms and the States or I go what OAS 10 g R2 (10.1.2.0.2) with the patch set 3 (10.1.2.3.0). What is the difference between these two versions.

    Please help me.

    Kind regards

    Hi James,

    First of all forms and reports are only available in OAS 10 g 2 (10.1.2.0.2) and you would go to the latest version in gr 10, 2 which is 10.1.2.3.

    The Oracle Application Server 10 g 3 version is a limited edition and SOA and OC4J components.

    So if you need to forms and reports, you must make 10 gr 2 OAS.

    Kind regards

    Prakash.
