  • Satellite A305-S6905 and Web Cam questions

I apologize if there's another thread for this particular model and the question, I'm just extremely frustrated and after hundreds of searches through google, toshiba and chicony, I can't find a solution. My laptop {Toshiba Satellite A305-S6905} was originally Vista when buying. My uncle put upgraded to Windows 7 and in addition to the fact that he constantly tells me that "this copy of Windows is not genuine", my web cam suddenly stopped working. It worked fine on Vista.

I uninstalled camera Assistance and reinstalled more than 8 times. I * think * I reinstalled the driver, but whenever I open (or try to open) helps the camera, I get the message: "Webcam is disabled or has failed." Please check your webcam settings '. I opened the Device Manager, but the Chicony webcam is not listed. Nothing about the webcam is listed. I restarted my laptop... believe me, I almost tried everything. I noticed that a lot of upgraders from Vista to Windows 7 have the same problem. Last resort, I decided to come on the website of the manufacturer of my laptop. I would appreciate help.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

If there is no entry in the Device Manager, it's quite strange. If the device works properly it is listed under imaging devices like Chicony camera.
Somehow, it seems that there is no link between the cam and the motherboard.

All you can do now is to test the functionality with the settings and see if the problem persists.
If the situation will be the same, you should contact the closest service and leave technician to check the cam feature.

  • Re: Disk failure hard on my Satellite A305-S6905 1 year

My hard drive is defective on my laptop [a Satellite A305-S6905] so it was a year old Feb 11' th not guaranteed, now I have to pay someone to put in a new HD, will pay for HD and pay to put a new OS in there because they do not come with operating system disks more, a good I had already bought a Windows 7 disc , but wait... I can't use it, it is an upgrade, so now what am I going to do?

    Hello

I agree with the user above. Replacing the HARD drive is easy and can be done in a few minutes. On the underside, remove the cover of the HARD drive which is fixed by screws, and then you can exchange the HARD drive.

Reinstalling Windows, to the disk recovery Toshiba or a disk of Microsoft. All drivers and tools can be downloaded from the Toshiba site.

  • Deactivation of the multimedia keys on Satellite A305-S6905

I'm hoping to find a way to disable multimedia keys (touch keys at the top) on your laptop Satellite A305-S6905.

The problem is that I teach computer for the visually impaired (blind) skills. I have a student who has this laptop, and we had a continuous problem she can't feel the keys and is accidentally pressed the mute button, turn off the sound when it turns on or off the laptop. His must be on so that its capable of reading software screen can read the screen to it. No noise, it cannot use the laptop.

But also with the sound off it cannot go to the desktop and turn on the sound because she can't hear where he is. Because the touch buttons are flush with the Board of Directors, she cannot feel that key is to turn the sound back on. We have tried to place a marker press the mute, but under much and would not allow the button to work.

So, anyone got a way to turn them off?

  • Toshiba Satellite A305 - S6898 USB malfunction

    Greetings and Salutations,

I have an interesting dilemma with my Satellite laptop. Whenever I try to use the USB ports for devices in addition to my hub, keyboard and mouse, I get the error "USB device not recognized" infamous. Of course, this means that the unit does not operate. This happens on any of the three USB ports on my computer, but NOT with my keyboard, the mouse, or the hub they are connected.

Now, lets hit some suggestions out of water before I give myself, because so far, I tried pretty much everything that has been suggested for this problem.

I tried to uninstall the ports and allowing Windows to reinstall the drivers after reboot. That did not correct the error.

I tried formatting the computer completely and put on a new installation of Windows. That did not correct the error.

I tried the fix 'disconnect the computer's power. I left said computer turned off and disconnected from any source of energy for more than twenty-four hours. That did not correct the error.

I updated the BIOS OF THE system to the latest version. That did not correct the error.

There is no virus or malware in the system that can cause this error, as I indicated above, I formatted the system entirely, and he failed to correct the problem.

I went into Device Manager with devices hidden showing and removed all USB devices hidden, disconnected from the past. This did not correct the error either.

Essentially, I tried just about everything has proposed as a possible solution and come up with nothing. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's either BIOS or related material, but it is meaningless for me something associated material would allow SOME devices (keyboard, mouse and Hub) to function, while others do not.

If anyone has a solution I've tried there, please let me know. Specifications system and operating system to follow.

Given that you re-installed Windows pointing to a hardware problem, however there may be a required chipset or
another driver from Toshiba. Check with Toshiba Support, their drivers and documentation online and ask

  • I want to install Win XP on Satellite A305-S6905

    Hello.

I want to downgrade my Vista to XP because of problems and slow down my PC...
For example I can't download updates antivirus, games etc...

I read in the forum that I need some kind of sata drivers and those I can do myself, but someone can help me with other drivers because I use this laptop for an hour and I know not what drivers there need.

If someone could give me links to the necessary software, I would be very grateful.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think that you couldn't find the right drivers XP because you didn t find on the right-hand page.
Like you probably n t know that this series of laptop (Satellite A305) belongs to Toshiba from US and you have to find good drivers on Toshiba U.S. page!
    http://www.toshibadirect.com/TD/B2C/home.to

In addition, if you want to install Win XP on laptop thin, you will need to install the SATA drivers first.
The SATA drivers are on Intel Storage Manager part which can be downloaded from the Intel and Toshiba page page as well.

But if you don t want to install SATA drivers, there is another possibility to install the XP.
Just access the BIOS and set the compatible SATA to AHCI mode.

    That s it.

  • Satellite C660 - TouchPad freeze at startup

Hi I'm new and this is my first post so please be gentle!

I have a Satellite C660 with windows 7 purchased as a refurb factory it is my 1st laptop, I have a problem after startup, and everything loaded on my desktop, it seems that if I use my TouchPad too early it freezes, he did it since I bought it, but I thought it was me being not used to a touchpad and the "bloatware" to start is the only way I can get the pointer to move if I have a finger from the top to the bottom of line scrolling to the right of the TouchPad horizontally or diagonally, it moves very slowly until I can be open and close a browser window, the file or even the startup window, then it will then act as usual and do not freeze again for my entire session If I leave it for five minutes at the start, it works fine, sometimes it will freeze also out of standby or hibernation, but not always.

OK, I thought maybe it was the necessary driver update I checked in Device Manager and it said it was working properly but that of course is when the pointer is as it should be, in the Device Manager if I pilot of the touchpad/driver/update and internet search it tells me I have the drivers updated If I choose to search for a driver on my computer/let pick me from a list of device drivers that I have the following:-

    Mouse Compatible PS/2
    Synaptics PS/2 Port Compatible TouchPad
    Synaptics PS/2 Port Compatible TouchPad
    Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad

I should have all those showing? can someone with a file of similar specifications check that for me please?

strange thing is that if I go to TouchPad properties via the taskbar, and then click driver all options except the driver Details are grayed out and done, I can open two windows of TouchPad properties from the device and the task bar manager and have them on the screen at the same time.

Some things I should mention are a mouse in the usb works fine, I stopped a lot of the "bloatware" and would help the useless stuff running at startup, hoping that I have disabled the function of locking of the click on the TouchPad, sound as it needs to be "warmed up" to run correctly when running properly it works fine without problem as the laptop came pre installed and only Disc I have is the recovery one create you the initial Setup!
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hello

First of all, I don t think that this problem is related to the installed touchpad driver but if you wish, you can install the latest touchpad driver available from the European driver Toshiba.

Visit the European driver Toshiba page and choose:
Computer laptop Satellite Satellite C series Satellite C660 driver Touchpad

Now you should get all the touchpad driver available for C660 series.
I found the driver for the touchpad Synaptics for Win7 32 bit and 64 bit.
The latest version seems to be v15.2.11.1

I think you should go to Panel of-> Software
Check here if Synaptics touchpad driver appear in the list of installed software.
    If so, uninstall the present.
Then, download and install the Synaptics v15.2.11.1 driver

The touchpad settings could be changed in Control Panel-> mouse-> tab advanced-> button Advanced.

  • Satellite A300-1EG freezes at startup

I recently repartitioned (some partitions, including recovery, have been removed) drive and tried to install Windows 7. During installation, after choosing the installation partition Setup stopped responding (I could move the mouse pointer, but nothing else).

I turned off laptop by pressing the power on button for 5 seconds, but now system crashes at "Toshiba Leading Innovation" screen whenever I turn it on.

I can't access selector installation or startup, multimedia keys are flashing when you press on, lights work and respond to plug/unplug AC. Only the HHD led is turned on, but dimmed by comparing to others. Caps lock does not, laptop turns off after pressing power, without holding it.

Before that I had some problems with the HDD, rare file system errors and Windows XP Setup was not working (frozen after Installer message determines the configuration system and constantly read disk until you restart).

    Hello

Well, according to you the description, a HARD disk error may be possible.
Have you tested the HARD drive?
    Isn't it?

Then, you should do this; There is a nice drive test tool called HARD HARD drive Fitness Test.
You can download it from various pages just google and you will find

If the HARD drive fitness test will detect some errors then you replace the HARD drive.

    That s my personal opinion

I tried all the options available (personalization of the size of the partition, back out of the box, etc.) to get to the next stage where it begins "initiallizing partition" and it hampers is permanently in this screen.

  • Satellite A300 immediately freezes after startup

Laptop running this morning and got a warning from Norton telling that my Antivirus software has been disabled.
I never turned it off before so could not understand this.
In any case, I clicked on the icon of fix in Norton, but it's stuck on 7%.

I could still move the cursor on the screen, but nothing would work. I tried CTRL + ALT + DELETE, but that made no difference.
Shut down the laptop by holding the power button. Once re-boot returned to Norton to try the complete analysis of the system, but after a few minutes it may stuck as before.
Once again restarted and connected to the internet but once again after a few minutes it may jam. It seems, no matter what I do, it only takes 4-5 minutes before locking up.

I looked on other forums using pc at work for possible corrections. Similar problems appear to be at with good overheating that found a site that suggests, it might be Service Pack associated.

    Does this sound right?

It seems that this software does not work properly now, maybe you should reinstall it and update again.

    Or I have another idea.

You could remove the software from the system and could switch to another tool called Avira Antivir I use this antivirus software and it s free and really big because this does not focus on the system such as Symantec's Norton.
I read that Norton Antivir needs a lot of system resources. This might be the reason of your gel

    Hello!

I m not sure but maybe the laptop is overheating. What do you think?

Try to clean the laptop with a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans. That's why it of not necessary to disassemble the laptop.
You can buy the jet of air at a computer retailer.

You use the factory settings? I mean if you use the preinstalled Windows Vista or your own version of Windows.
