  I apologize if there's another thread for this particular model and the question, I'm just extremely frustrated and after hundreds of searches through google, toshiba and chicony, I can't find a solution. My laptop {Toshiba Satellite A305-S6905} was originally Vista when buying.   If there is no entry in the Device Manager, it's quite strange. If the device works properly it is listed under imaging devices like Chicony camera.
  Somehow, it seems that there is no link between the cam and the motherboard.

  All you can do now is to test the functionality with the settings and see if the problem persists.
  If the situation will be the same, you should contact the closest service and leave technician to check the cam feature.

  Visit the American support page on http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Download and you can find there drivers Windows XP Home edition for your laptop.
  I checked and found Toshiba common Modules for Windows XP (v1.00.09; 31/10/2008; 6.34 M). Download and reinstall. Maybe it will fix your problem.

  I'm hoping to find a way to disable multimedia keys (touch keys at the top) on your laptop Satellite A305-S6905.

  The problem is that I teach computer for the visually impaired (blind) skills. I have a student who has this laptop, and we had a continuous problem she can't feel the keys and is accidentally pressed the mute button, turn off the sound when it turns on or off the laptop.   Hi guys, I was wandering in the forums for a few hours, now looking for ana response to this question, and can't find anything clear. I have a XPS 8100 that I run a diagnostic and received a 2000-0142 error code that says MSG: error code 2000-0142 hard drive FAILURE 0 self-test status: 79 based on what I read in the forum is that there is a disk failure, and the only recourse is to solve the problem in my view is to replace the drive. Firstly, can someone please give me an absolute confirmation that it is indeed what I have to do, or is there something else I should do to fix this problem first? If a replacement drive is there someone could please tell me how can I do to get my OEM software off the coast of the partition recovery and on my new drive. I now office preinstalled and, of course, premium Windows 7 I would like to see on my new hard drive and I was not provided with one of the disks at the time of purchase.   The 200-0142 error is for hard drive failure and you need to replace the hard drive.

  Since the hard drive has not, you would not be able to access the partition recovery on it. Data would be lost and the software already installed on your computer will need to be reinstalled.

  I think that you couldn't find the right drivers XP because you didn t find on the right-hand page.
  Like you probably n t know that this series of laptop (Satellite A305) belongs to Toshiba from US and you have to find good drivers on Toshiba U.S. page!

  In addition, if you want to install Win XP on laptop thin, you will need to install the SATA drivers first.
  The SATA drivers are on Intel Storage Manager part which can be downloaded from the Intel and Toshiba page page as well.

  But if you don t want to install SATA drivers, there is another possibility to install the XP.
  Just access the BIOS and set the compatible SATA to AHCI mode.

  I have a Satellite A60-672 and his original 40 GB drive is dead. I got a Seagate 80 GB HDD as a replacement, but after it is inserted, it does not show in the BIOS. I did some searching on Google but not really came up with a large part. Is it possible that the BIOS does not recognize the new drive due to the larger size?

  I looked in the BIOS upgrade (currently version 1.50) and found an update to 1.90.   If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.

  This question is not for the laptop manufacturer but for software producer.

  If you have two partitions copy this image to the second partition (D) and check if it is not visible. I do the same with the Norton Ghost image creator.
