• How to find the total size of the RMAN backup files?

  env: Oracle 10 g 2, RHEL 64 bit

  My customer has a production database where rman backups are taken: level 0 backup every Sunday and level 1, Monday to Saturday.

  I have very limited access to this database of production because it is managed by a third party, and they don't give me my required info (don't know why). I don't have access to the rman repository. To connect to the database that I have to connect to a staging server, then connect to the database server. I have no access to Enterprise Manager. So in short, my access is limited. I want to collect information on the total size of the files of rman backup - both for level 1 to level 0 backups separately. I understand that this info can be retrieved from the rman repository. Is there a dictionary views/tables of data where I can get this info?

  As usual: depends: do you need to calculate the size allocated on storage, you simply go to the current size of the file dba_data_files bytes column data. If you need the storage used the sum of dba_segments fits better. If you need the size of all files used for the database, you must add the controlfiles, newspapers and db_recovery_file_dest_size files.

  I currently have a script (listed below) to the CR of query for each virtual computer and their allocated disks. I know that you can see the total link but surely Indesign, it's self will add more info on which will increase the size? I checked the video and pictures and they seem to fall under the 200 MB for the article. That article is not big so I need to know what is the total amount.

  OK, based on your new information, the error is that Daisy is 206 GB but Windows Explorer reports it as 87GB.

  No other information seems more relevant.

  Ideas-

  1 run ChkDsk on the drive - [first of all, make sure you have a backup of Daisy or make a new backup always] in Windows Explorer, right-click on the drive & select Properties, then the Tools tab, then click the check now button, turn off the option to make repairs in first to see if there are errors or not before making any decision as repairs can delete or corrupt files which are reported in the file allocation table.

  2. find another utility that measures the size of record to help you track down all the difference here.  TreeSize Free will be repeated.

• How to view the total size of the items removed in the trash?

  I am using windows 7 Home premium. In the trash, I see the folders and individual files sizes in Details view. But when I select more than two folders, I don't see the combined folder or the size of the file of the two. The preview pane is useless because it does not show the size of recycle bin points, just the size of the currently selected item in the bin.

  Is there a way to look at the total size of multiple selected items in the trash?
  Also under XP, hovering above the bin used to give the size in ToolTip. The trash in 7 shows something like that.
