TrackPoint problems

I recently got a Thinkpad T420.  One of my favorite features is the essence, but for recent days, much has been impossible to use.  He pegs things quickly and randomly freezes and shake the mouse.  Once I got disabling trackpoint it works fine, but it's one of my favorite features. I just bought the computer two weeks ago so I can't imagine the keyboard break already. Is this a software problem or something?

@OutWeRoll,

Check and see if you have the latest UltraNav Driver and utility.

Also, try to boot into the BIOS and reset default. See if it helps.

  • Help, please! Annoying problem with trackpoint x 200!

I have an x 200 with Win XP Pro. I had a driver for trackpoint uptodate (4.72) and everything worked fine - I was able to change its value in the properties of the mouse (tab TrackPoint). After that the windows update, trackpoint I just crazy. There is still a 4.72 driver installed - it can be seen in the mouse properties, tab TrackPoint is lost so the trackpoint works with the standard slow speed that windows gives to him and there is no advanced settings this tab gives TrackPoint! I noticed that tp4serv.exe, which is supposed to start than the TrackPoint tab is started when windows starts, but the TrackPoint tab isn't as I believe. I discovered that to start tab TrackPoint that I have to manually click tp4serv.exe. It is so frustrating "couse I have simply no idea what to do - I tried to reinstall the driver (it crashes), tried to return to the previous version of the driver, I installed all the updates for the update of the system updates installed Windows - still the same." I also tried to tp4serv.exe in startup - no results... I noticed some messages on the internet from people with the same problem, but with no result... Do you have any suggestions what to do?

EDIT: For any future reference - I managed to fix it: I first fully update windows and NET framework 4.0. That I got rid the trackpoint drivers on (had to remove in the boot menu first to uninstall it without freezing system)-result 4.72 driver has been replaced by the slow, ordinary windows without the Properties tab TrackPoint driver. I have that restarted, updated the driver in the properties of the mouse - I have not installed the latest driver Lenovo 4.72, welcomed bu7 Windows Update the driver to connect to windows update (4.64 driver). Then restarted and now everything works fine - I have my TrackPoint tab at the back of the mouse properties and can adjust the speed of the trackpoint once more!

Thanks for posting your solution might help someone else.

  • Horizontal scrolling problem the office 2016

Hello, I'm an old fan of Thinkpad, used more than 12 thinkpad machines.

My current main machine is X 1 carbon 3rd gen, OS Windows 10

I'm very frustrated, because the two Touchpad and trackpoint horizontal scrolling in MS office 2016, particularly excel and onenote, does not work.

I tried to install and reinstall the drivers and formatted the machine several times.

I tried to find the solution on the web, but there is no clear solution to this subject so far, unfortunately.

Above all, I am very angry with the ignorance and slow technical support from Lenovo.

Because this problem was published for more than a year.

    An idea for horizontal scrolling?

In response to the customer, reports that horizontal scrolling in MS Office was not supported on ThinkPad several models running Windows 10, an update of the Synaptics driver was published for this problem.

    Models:

    ThinkPad P50s

    ThinkPad T460s, T560

    ThinkPad X 250

    ThinkPad X carbon 1 (types of Machine: 20BS, 20BT 20FB, 20 CF)

    Tablet ThinkPad X 1 (20GG, 20GH)

    ThinkPad X 1 Yoga (types of Machine: 20FQ, 20FR)

    Version 19.3.4.39

(Fix) Fixed an issue where a horizontal scrolling may not work in MS Office when the Firefox browser was opened.

(Fix) Fixed an issue where scrolling icon may have overlay of black color in the recent Windows 10 environment.

  • Lenovo USB keyboard - Trackpoint/Touchpas does not

Now, I'm having the same problem in Win7 that I barely got away with Vista.

    The problem is the following:

-J' have the Lenovo Trackpoint and Touchpad (wonderful) built-in USB keyboard.

-When I installed this keyboard on Vista it worked out of the box, but in Windows Update, I got an update recommended for newer drivers or better.

-When I installed this driver, the Trackpoint and Touchpad stoppet work - so I had to restore my system and to hide these updates in Windows Update.

-So when I install Win7 RTM these drivers seem to install with the system and therefore the Trackpoint and Touchpad on my external keyboerd does NOT work out of the box. I don't get updates to make this.

    I tried solutions:

-J' tried to install the drivers from keyboerd.

-The driver with quick access keys installs fine, but does not solve the problem.

-The standard keyboard driver will not install because it says I have there is a newest Synaptics driver which had to be removed first.

-Well, there is no Synaptics-drivers installed to remove - probably because these drivers are installed with the system.

-J' also tried to Devil driver PS/2, etc., but nothing works.

--> So, I'm really stuck with my wonderful Lenovo USB keyboard without being able to use the Trackpoint or Touchpad. The worst though is that I know what to do the problem, but don't know how to fix...

Can anybode please help, I can't believe I'm the only one having this problem (in Vista or Win7).

    Henrik

  • Touchpad and trackpoint dead with 1.17 on Linux bios

    Hello!

I have a laptop of E460, on which I am dual booting Windows 10 Pro and Manjaro Linux (mainly Arch Linux) with the kernel Linux 4.5.2.

Having the same problem as people discuss in the thread E460 keys repeat when 3 seconds , I've been banging my bios to 1.13, 1.16 and yesterday, 1.17 bios, to see if the problem had been solved.

With the 1.17 bios update, my touchpad and trackpoint stopped working under Linux (Windows they work fine). They do not yet appear in/dev/input, and there is no mention of one of them in dmesg, journalctl, /var/log/Xorg.0.log or anywhere.

The touchpad and stick worked fine in the bios 1.13 and 1.16, so I think that there is a regression in 1.17.

Everyone knows this? Can Lenovo, if there is a problem?

Have you tried to reset the default BIOS settings? Then try again.

  • ThinkPad x 61 hotkey problem win7 x 64

Hi all, it's my first walk in this forum and I am hoping to get the solution from here. I have Thinkpad x 61 and this is the first problem with it. It's not exactly the problem, but for me it is very annoing. Hotkey on the screen does not appear. I installed all the drivers required manually and keyboard shortcuts work fine-it change in brightness, volume keys work, BUT where is no on screen meter to show how is my screen or how strong or mute is the noise. I'm trying to get the solution for a couple of days, but without success. Any ideas?
PS before I was using win 7 x 86 and 2 GB of ram. Everything was perfect, and it shows correctly. I decided to upgrade my x 61 and installed 4 GB of ram and SSD. To this end, I installed the bios Middleton to use full sata II speed and installed win7 x 64 to use all my 4 GB of ram. I downloaded all the drivers required manually by ID and installed in the order: support for chipsets, display, audio, trackpoint, power, Manager supply management pilot, features of keyboard shortcut, experience of devices, wireless, dial-up connection. I read all the treads to simular problem, but they don't work for me

  • X 220 Touchpad and Trackpoint does not

    Hello

My 220 x 4290's touchpad, trackpoint and buttons on the keypad touchscreen and buttons trackpoint refuse to work. I'll have to use a USB mouse for now. I tried to update the synaptics driver for the last, which unfortunately did not help.

At the present time, the system runs Windows 10 (since the last months) with the latest version of the BIOS installed. The touchpad and the trackpoint don't even appear in the Device Manager where they used to show.

I opened the system to check if the Ribbon for the keyboard and the touchpad cable were both sitting correctly. Reinstalling did not help.

This spell the end of my x 220? Is it possible to fix this?

    Thank you very much

    Said

Okay, I think that I managed to solve this problem. In the BIOS, I have selected "load setup defaults". When I started in windows the ultranav and paved touch both started working again. Thanks for the help anyway, it is much appreciated.

  • T460s scrolling problem

    Hello

My problem is that two fingers scrolling becomes really slow right after you use the trackpoint to scroll middle button. To get two fingers to scroll at its normal speed, I need to finish the task "Synaptics TouchPad 64-bit improvements" in the Task Manager (effectively restart the task). But using the trackpoint for scrolling goes off two fingers of slow scrolling. Since I want change between using the trackpoint and the trackpad, it's pretty boring.

The problem only occurs when you use the "Use to scroll" option under "Middle Action button" in the mouse settings. There is no problem when you use the "Use as a middle-click" option instead.

I'm under 10 64-bit Windows, and I use the latest version of the driver Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav (19.0.17.77). The problem occurred also with a previous version of the driver (I had the T460s for 2 weeks and the issue has been there since I got it). A reinstallation of the driver does not resolve the issue. All other drivers and bios must be up-to-date.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

In response to unexpected scrolling customer relationships and behavior of touchpad on ThinkPad, Lenovo T460s has published a solution via the driver update.

Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver, version 19.0.17.98, can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds111814

  • Spotty with trackpoint scrolling? (X 250)

When scrolling with the trackpoint, I find that the pages run as smooth as did the older ThinkPad. My T410 scrolls more smoothly than my X 250, and I think it's a driver problem. I have the latest Synaptics driver, that would be 18.1.27.14. I tried rolling back the drivers, and yet, it does not improve the problem of scrolling. Anyone facing this problem? Has anyone fixed?

Also, by the way, I found that I couldn't play FPS games with trackpoint. Do not click on the right and left buttons immediately after typing. I always get killed after the sprint because I'm standing here, unable to pull. Other than that, the trackpoint is surprisingly easy to use for games.

  • Touchpad problems with windows Thinkpad Yoga 12-10

So I had this 12 Yoga for about 3 moths now. Last month, after that I installed a new update of windows, the touchpad and the trackpoint would not work, as it has been disabled. I tried to uninstall the driver and then reinstall - did not work. I even reset the computer. STILL DOES NOT WORK. So I ran the Verifier who told me that one of the Lenovo products had problems with it - I know more what one - so I uninstalled. Still did not work.

After all that, I tried again to uninstall the synaptics drive. When I uninstalled it... He was always there! I don't know how, but he was always there and now the touchpad and trackpoint two works. Well, sporadically. It will work for a few minutes, then will not work for a few minutes (or more). Then. It is where I am now (actually, right now, I'm writing this, the trackpoint is oop nvm. work it stopped working).

Any thoughts on how to solve this problem? Thank you!

Also, when the touchpad & trackpoint, windows buttons are more condensed, so that when it does not, the buttons are more spread out (see links below).

    "Digest".

    "spread".

PS also, computer person seriously dragging when you press the CapsLock key? So, which turns off the keyboard for a solid 7 seconds?

I THINK I SOLVED THE PROBLEM THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

  • Questions of trackpoint

    Hello

Just recently my trackpoint in my T61 unresponsive after having a little water in my keyboard near the function left and shift pressed.

Try to solve the problem, I went the mouse settings to ensure that it was activated, but section Trackpoint was grayed out and the enabled box was unchecked. I also checked the BIOS settings and the Trackpoint and touch pad are set to automatic. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the Ultranav driver and utility. Is there anything else I should do to fix the problem?

The amount of water I have in the keyboard looked like not it was many and evaporates pretty quickly, so I don't know if this is a coincidence or it is related to the water being in the keyboard.

I also tried tried the Trackpoint with a Ubuntu Live CD, but it doesn't work in Ubuntu.

    Thank you

Well, I got the problem fixed... I just restarted the computer once more and the trackpoint started working... Odd. in any case, I am pleased to resume.

  • T430 Trackpoint Scrooling after Windows update (7-10)

    Hello
I did the update to Windows 7 to 10 yesterday and the Trackpoint Scrooling does not work on all software.

I updated the driver (Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver, version 19.0.17.85), but the problem is not resolved, including the use of Microsoft Office, where he works only on the vertical, not horizontal.

    I have a T430.

What can I do to fix this?

    Hello
I installed the mouse win drivers 8.1 on win 10 and the bug is resolved.

  • X 220 new owner: Trackpoint, how to make it productive?

I am the proud owner of a 220 X and an owner of first Thinkpad. Only one problem: the Trackpoint. Everything takes more time, scroll, click, point, everything! You Loyalists, gets more easy? Help me please. Y at - it a learning curve? You're actually faster with the Red Tracpoint? I mean, everybody wears a USB mouse in their case? I configured mine so the trackpad is out. The Trackpoint is set to scroll, normal mode. (Smooth roller is weird and awkward). Is precisely the Trackpoint productive once you learn not to exceed and how to hit the spots? Thank you!!!

    Yes, it's just convenient.

The technique that worked for me was to go in the mouse settings and compose all sensitivities down as low as they could go-'the pointer speed' completely low, click "enhance pointer precision," then go to the Ultranav tab, click on settings for the Trackpoint and put the slider all the way to the "closed" button

With the parameters like this will give you the most latitude to learn the trackpoint. As you learn, need you more time to move the mouse pointer it would have with the touch pad or mouse. But you'll get to keep your hands just the keys home even when you're mousing. (This is why the trackpoint seems to go hand in hand with the typing, I think.) Over time, you're going to get better and more quickly on trackpoint and you can mount the sensibilities back little by little.

Eventually, you will move the cursor more quickly than you could with a mouse or keyboard.

I have not plugged a USB mouse on my 220 X never, I think, and I prefer the Trackpoint to other forms of control mice, including large keys to multipoint touch touch.
