Here's how using the method to Manage manually .  Connect the iPad to Mac.  You should see small of the iPad the device button on the horizontal bar that runs through the iTunes window.

Check something first...  Click the camera buttonto show its settings screen in iTunes for the iPad.  On the screen of the iPad summary settings in iTunes (which you see now), there is a setting (a check box) to manually manage music and videos.  Check this box if it isn't already.  If you do not see this setting (see who says Managing videos manually instead), please post back.  If you have made a change, click the apply button.  This confirms that your iPad is set up to load the songs manually, instead of using one of the other methods.

To manually load songs on iPad, show your library iTunes music (click the button on the music at the left end of the horizontal bar).  Towards the middle of the horizontal bar, click playlists.  A side bar appears along the left side of the window, with the iPad listed under devices.  You can change your 'view' of the music library, using the control at the right end of the horizontal bar (I like to use only the view of songs , but you can view by artists or Albums).  Music library, songs click and hold and drag to the sidebar and fall on iPad.  You can do this with one or more selected items.  Or, instead of drag / drop, selection of songs right click and (in the menu) Add to Playlist-> [name of the iPad].

To see what is on the iPad, in the sidebar, click on the small triangle to the left of the name of the iPad, to drop to the bottom of the iPad content list (indented under iPad).  Click on music , in the list of content.  Right, you see the list of songs on iPad.  NOTE: To delete a song of iPad, select it from the list and press delete on the keyboard.  You can do this with one or more selected songs.

To manually load other content types, do the same except show your film (or TV shows, Podcasts, etc.) bibliotheque library instead of music, then drag the items to the iPad in the sidebar.

  • Is it possible to transfer music from an ipod 4G for the new model?

I got my ipod touch 4g since 2010 and I was too cheap to upgrade. Now that the battery life has been emptying faster than ever and high sleep button no longer works, I think its time to finally switch to this new model.

The bad part is that for the last 6 years, I have collected 12.6 GB worth of music on my ipod touch with nearly 85 per cent of it related to the device itself and not on my pc. I usually have the removed from the computer as Itunes would always keep always on my ipod touch as long as the songs were always listed in the library.

I was wondering is there a way to transfer my music from my old ipod touch to the new model?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not that a transfer backup device and media has been planned with you keep a master copy of your media on a computer that is in itself independently supported against loss.  To use a device with a different configuration, you pass the old library from a computer or a backup directly in the new configuration, not the device to the library. Synchronization of media isn't a way, computer to the device, update the contents of the device to the content on the computer, update or restore the content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases that can be transferred to a computer.

Redownload or transfer your iTunes Store purchases an iPhone, iPad or iPod to computer - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201267 - 'this feature only works for content purchased from the iTunes Store. From iOS9 is more apps that now need to be re-downloaded directly from the store.

To transfer other items from an i-device to a computer, you will need to use third-party commercial software.  See this document in turingtest2: recover your iTunes library from your iPod or device iOS - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 even this method can fully recover what you originally had in the library. For example, in order to save space during synchronization if you had converted music files at a lower rate, or photos at a lower resolution, it is these lower quality files that will pick you up.

If you subscribe to the Apple music, titles that are not part of the content that you have purchased or downloaded may not be transferred and must be downloaded directly from iCloud.

  • Cannot transfer music from iTunes to the iPod nano.

I can't transfer music from iTunes to my iPod. My laptop has Windows XP and my iPod nano is 6 years old. (I do not know what generation it is). the instructions say to click on "sources" to choose the IPod, but I can't find this option in iTunes.

The latest version of iTunes can be different, so former instructions can be confusing.

There are several ways to load songs on an iPod, including the auto sync and manual loading.  I will describe the method that automatically synchronizes the iPod to a playlist in your iTunes library.  First, you must create a new playlist in your iTunes library and add all the songs you want on the iPod playlist.  You can call iPod songs playlists (or whatever you want).  If you already have a "Favorites" playlist, you can use it.

Then, select the iPod in iTunes (click on its button on the device on the horizontal bar) to show its settings screen in the iTunes window.  The side left (in the sidebar), under settings. Click on music.  Right, parameters of music on the iPod screen.

NOTE: All the songs on the iPod that are not on your iTunes library (on the computer) will be lost.

At the top, check the box to Sync music.  This enables automatic synchronization.  Below, choose the option to synchronize playlists selected, artists, album and genres.  Below, under playlists, search for and select (checkmark) playlists iPod songs you create earlier.  You can select the other items in these lists, if you wish.  When you click apply, iTunes syncs your selection to iPod.

Go ahead, update of the songs on the iPod, update iPod songs playlist in your iTunes (add/remove songs).  The iPod has no need to be connected.  The next time that you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected), iTunes automatically updated the iPod with the same changes.  I use this method with my iPod nano, unless I have several playlists (not one) that I sync with my iPod.

How can I transfer music from my iPod to Windows Media Player?

WMP is not built-in iPod support, so you will need to use another media player, such as iTunes or Winamp, to get the music from the iPod to the PC (I don't know if iTunes will allow you to do, but Winamp will certainly be).

If you then copy the music files to your personal music collection, they appear automatically in the WMP library.
