Transparency in the CMYK color mode

Windows XP Pro, Photoshop CS3

It seems we can keep only transparencies of background if the image file is saved in PNG or GIF format. It also seems that a cannot be saved in these formats of files if the graph is in CMYK color mode - be mode RBG to do. How can I keep the image with transparency to CMYK?

Why don't you just stick with the Native PSD format? I don't understand why you feel the need to go with PNG and GIF. PSD, PDF or TIF seem like more appropriate file format. Explain a bit more on your end goals could give us more guidance as to the best solution for you.

    Hello

I am trying to better understand how to use Illustrator to print correctly and my biggest hurdle is to understand how o use the colors correctly.

I've done several tutorials and just need to clarify just to ensure that I understand them and I have do this process correctly.

    Issues related to the:

    1. I have read that it is possible to use RGB colors with CMYK to print and I sometimes see RGB color mixed with the CMYK colors in my color chart. Is it okay to use RGB to CMYK as my understanding RGB is to screen only?

2 - is the right way to apply a CMYK color to work in Illustrator?

    creating a cmyk colour_illustrator.jpg

    3. I'm picking nuances using the guide in color in illustrator and when I double click on the individual color chart this screen with the little cube. I did some reading on this and there are sources saying that this has something to do with RGB modes? Still, leads me to believe that I do not apply color properly in illustrator. Here is the image:

Would be really grateful for help with these issues, it will let me continue work knowing that my work is done in a good way before you start. It would be also nice to have suggestions or advice on the workflow.

    hope to hear about it.

An Illustrator file is RGB or CMYK. The nuances that are the same color as the file mode a.

You can set the color using different color modes, but when you click OK, the color is converted to the current document's color mode. It will change, and the numbers do not come back. The conversion is based on your color management settings.

Some printers support the RGB files - it depends on the printing process and the machines they use. Print large format is often made with RGB files. As are some digital printing processes. Ask the print service provider about this.

  • Show the bright tones in CMYK color mode?

I don't know how I didn't notice this before. In Illustrator CC 2015, if I create a CMYK document and specify a spot (LAB values) of the range color off it automatically displays the dull color in CMYK values. Why is this? Is not any interest to be able to create vector files with tasks? Overview of overprinting resolves, but is it possible to do this by default and does not require preview overprinting?

(Stayed at this time, apparently never noticed this discrepancy)

I'm afraid only once in CMYK mode, you see the (more terrible close) CMYK equivalents.

  • HTML in PDF format ready to print with the CMYK color conversion

How can I convert a webpage (html) as a PDF ready to print, including a RGB to CMYK conversion?

I use a free trial of Acrobat DC. What I tried, is to use the browser button to convert HTML to PDF. I then open the document and go to the menu "Print Production. I expected to find the option "Convert colors", but he's not here. Help documentation indicates that this option is available only if you export your PDF file to a device "high-end". What is a high-end device? I use my laptop.

    (1) under the Production of printing tools, in the right pane, you will find the convert colors tool. That's what you're looking for. Its availability has nothing to do with what type of device you send the PDF file.

    (2) that said, converting the PDF to CMYK color space is not necessarily required to print. You certainly can print an RGB and/or the PDF to grayscale for a local or network PostScript laser printer, for example. What makes you think that you absolutely need CMYK for printing any other type? Each RIP/DFE these days can directly manipulate the RGB content.

  • change the doc of SRGB to CMYK color mode?

    Hello

How can I change a document in InDesign CS3 from SRGB to CMYK? I have a post card I want to print and want to make sure that it is in the correct mode. I'm fairly certain that it is set to SRGB right now.

    Thanks for the help!

In fact, the InDesign documents are not only RGB or CMYK. They have profiles of 'working space' for both.

But the images in the document may be RGB or CMYK.

If you are printing on a desktop printer, the printer will make the conversion from RGB to CMYK.

If you send to a commercial printer, choose file > export > Adobe PDF and choose PDF/X-1a, as a PDF preset. The RGB images will be automatically converted to CMYK.

  • I had problems with the color mode. kept, restart photoshop to find the problem. NOW Photoshop CS6 will not organize, it is stuck on "initializing". How to start?

At first my documents were pasted on the CMYK color mode, and I couldn't understand how to convert the file in RGB.

Finally, I abandoned, saved the file and tried to present what I was working on a Web site.

Before that, I closed photoshop and he raised 2 times in a row to test color on profiles. When finally it seemed to me he decided to go back to RGB, I closed and returned to climb my image. However, the site did not accept it because the jpg was in CMYK. So, I went to relaunch photoshop to convert its color profile and now photoshop will not launch.

As a first step, it got stuck on "checking memory."

I closed my computer to see if this would clearly be the question, then tried to restart photoshop and it is now stuck on "initializing".

I really need photoshop work, so how can I solve this problem?

    OS: OSX 10.11.3 EL Capitan

    PS: Adobe Photoshop CS6

It is the first time that I ever had this problem, and I've had this program for 2012.

    Hi shiblets,

Please press the home button on the keyboard when you see the screen "initializing".

If it does not, please press the SHIFT key and then launch Photoshop, to ignore the third party Plugin.

  • CMYK mode to PRINT and use the Web colors?

I'm sorry for my for my bad English but I'm French.

Is this "good" (interesting?)  using colors of paintings in a CMYK with Illustrator document?

I like the color of my photos and I want to use them for PRINT and the WEB too.

For now, my photos are in black and white (the contours) in CMYK (for printing mode) mode. What do you think I have

    Duty?

Thank you very much for your help!

    Hello-Hello

    BB,

In CMYK color Mode, all colors will be within the CMYK range, regardless of how you create them.

Normally, when the work is used for both print and web / whether, it is created in the CMYK and then converted for the web / whatever the use.

You can get a first glimpse of the question of the range here:

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/gamut

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_space

In general, the CMYK colors are limited/more duller; You can add a spot color or use special printing, such as 6/8 color.

  • Conversion of pantone color mode to CMYK in Indesign CS3?

I'm working on a business card for a client, I use Adobe Indesign CS3.

I use the outside for the print job company called 4over (4over.com) and they require that you use their print CMYK pdf engine so that they can do the job properly... Basically it bring down: I'm in Indesign CS3, I chose to print and the printer choose their "4over pdf engine CMYK to print" so the colors do not convert and the color does not change when they use their printers.

4over tells me that my document is in pantone color mode, they can see the pantone 371C color, but not the CMYK values.

How to change color pantone in CMYK color mode mode?

If anyone can help me please. I would really appreciate it.

I have attached the file I sent to 4over snack for anyone to respond to my question.

    Thank you

    Brandon

Before export, in the swatch Panel, choose your Pantone color, right click and select options for nuance. Change the type of color to the process and the color to CMYK mode.

If it is a business card, and you have shown to the customer a pantone swatch, know that you will not get the same results of color. There is a very useful book of Pantone available that shows samples side by side with the CMYK values.

  • What is the best way to match the Pantone PMS to CMYK color swatches?

I am looking at colors Pantone swatch book for coated solid colors, but he should know that the best way is to match, as closely as possible, a tone direct Pantone CMYK color. Is it possible to see these side by side? or is there an equivalency in the book of PMS, as I remember them to be in the print version of the Pantone book (which also showed formulations of ink for different tones,) which shows the percentages of CMYK equivalents to better match a Pantone color? It would be better to be able to see the place and the CMYK colors side by side on the screen.

It would be better to be able to see the place and the CMYK colors side by side on the screen.

N ° it would be preferable to see the task ink and CMYK process inks-by-side on paper.

It's why printed swatch books exist. I don't like what type of monitor you have, it won't look like a spot color ink. Period.

Glow of monitors. Ink on paper doesn't work. The human eye is incredibly adjustable; So really can't trust your own eyes when you look at a monitor.

Any monitor you use, it's always show you RGB. He can't do CMYK, and of course, he can't spot color.

So when the game is so dang critical, you must have a hand book of shade printed Pantone and process printed swatch book. And the two swatch books are on a similar document.

And if you expect to find perfect matches, you need to understand something very basic: many spot inks have no exact match to CMYK. You have to make Judgment calls.

Make sure you use the same color space in both programs and create your mask in the destination color space. It's a problem of color management. This problem is because you use different color spaces in Illustrator and Photoshop.

Most likely, you have created the mask in a CMYK (text) color space into Illustrator and your Photoshop document uses an RGB color space. Indeed you will have the same problem in Illustrator if you convert your document CMYK to RGB using the file > color mode of the Document or copy the work of a CMYK document and paste it into a document RGB. Having in mind that the problem is not limited only to the conversion between the RGB and CMYK color spaces, you might have the same problem when converting between the two areas of different color using the same color as RGB, for example sRGB template in Illustrator and Adobe RGB in Photoshop.
