Transparent background in the eps file appears opaque when gray open in Illustrator C6

I have an eps file has been created using GMT (mapping software) that has a transparent background. When I open it with Illustrator C6, I get an opaque gray background instead. If I ignore it and export after having been edited, there remains grey! How can I make transparent? When I have several layers with transparent background, I don't see the underlying layers.

Order export as tiff or pdf with ps2raster works perfectly well.

In fact, it should be transparent to make it happen. The EPS format does not support transparency, so there is none. The mapping software that generated the image apparently uses a color "mate" (gray, a bit like a 'transparent'.gif) and/or a clipping to simulate transparency path, as you have seen in those other subsequent conversions.

If you have Photoshop, you could open it, remove the gray and save it in a format that supports true transparency.

  • I imported an EPS layered file in FrameMaker, but ONLY the EPS image appears in the PDF file. How to do everything to appear?

    I imported a file .eps (a barcode) in FrameMaker and found that the omitted PDF everyting but the .eps image.  How can I get FrameMaker to recognize the text and images in the file FM, as well as the image of layered .eps file in the output PDF file? To test this, I also converted the .eps file (in PhotoShop) for a TIFF, JPG and GIF, PSD and imported of each in the doc of FrameMaker and created a PDF file.

    When I imported the FM and PDFd .psd file, all of the text and images of the file FM appeared, but the bar code has low resolution.

    When I imported the TIFF records in FM and PDFd, nothing appears in the PDF file except the barcode image and the text block, to which it is linked. The bar code has low resolution.

    With a JPG image, everything appears in the PDF but the barcode has low resolution.

    With a GIF image, it appears in the PDF, but t barcode a low-resolution.

    First thing you should try is to create a PDF file of the EPS file using Acrobat only. If it does not come out as expected (in the PDF file), then you know exactly where the problem is. Create a PDF file of the EPS in Photoshop is not a good test.

    You also need to update your version of FM12 - you have a patch behind.

  • No transparency background in the artboard Mode PS 2015.5.0

    Hello

    Since the last update, I found a very strange bug. When you create a new document with transparent background, everything seems to work fine. The document is created with a transparent background. However, if I turn this document into one (or more) artboard (s) the background becomes white. There is no layer in the layers panel. If I place any object in the work plan and the export in PNG transparent, it will show the white background in the exported file.

    I work for several years now with Photoshop and I don't think it's a fault on my end, as it seems to happen only after the update. If I'm missing something please let me know.

    This makes basically useless for me at this stage PS because I work a lot with transparent graphics for the web.

    See you soon,.

    Bryan

    We discuss making it the default transparent when we passed the basic model plan of work. He was well regarded as reasons to make the default white background opened in 2015.5:

    (1) we wanted to preserve the visual experience of existing documents. Imagine that you did you worry about the backgrounds and then opens your document after the upgrade and all your different work plans.

    (2) all of the users who work with transparent backgrounds is small compared to those who use the default background (white).

    The change of model led us to make a choice when you upgrade to the new version of the document. We chose (1).

    Unfortunately for you, your workflow is defined in (2). Fortunately, it's easy to fix. If you have not discovered it, you can select all your artboards in your document and change them all to transparent at the same time. You don't have to go one by one.

    You make a good point that maybe we could have missed the transparent work plans if the document has a transparent background. Unfortunately, this calculation is not as easy as you might think to do things. It would have taken time away from other work, and it would have introduced a level of unpredictability when opening existing documents (Board graphics settings default to white, except if the current context is transparent, if there is an existing context, etc. etc..).

    It was a judgment call.

  • Seal a .swf with a transparent background in an XHTML file

    I'm trying to integrate a .swf with a transparent background in an XHTML file. The only answer I found so far is to use < param name = 'wmode' value = 'transparent' > in the object params and wmode = "transparent" in the embed tag. Using this code, the entire .swf file goes transparent with icons. I also read to use "export html code" in Flash (using transparent windowless in settings) but that gives me a file .html huge to make it transparent which is of no use to me. I need for the import/include in my page home using a few lines of code. Any help would be appreciated.

    I don't think that you listen to what I say.  You use the embed code is old and will not work with recent browsers, and as you have, it would be incomplete, even in those ancient times.

    You don't have to use the page that Flash produces when you publish an html page.  You can copy and paste this code in place of what you now that does not.  CS6 provides a little more efficient integration of code that CS4 will be, but still CS4 will bring something better than what you use.

  • Read the EPS file in JScript

    Hi scripters

    I put in EPS file as an object inserted in indesign via JScript,

    doc = app.activeDocument;

    doc.pages.Item(0).place(file("D:\\auto\\Chapter-3\\fig1. EPS")

    here while I place the EPS files in indesign in the subject I want to read the BoundingBox values stored in EPS files. It is possbile to read EPS files in JScript?

    Thanks in advance

    It is possbile to read EPS files in JScript?

    JScript is not supported by InDesign. I'll kindly assume you meant 'Javascript', but know JScript is not Javascript.

    It is possible to read any type of file with Javascript. Any file at all. This code snippet

    epsFile = File("D:\\auto\\Chapter-3\\fig1.eps");
    if (epsFile.open("r") == false)
    {
    alert ("Why don't you try an existing file?");
    exit(0);
    }
    do
    {
    someLine = epsFile.readln();
    if (someLine.indexOf ('BoundingBox') > 0)
      break;
    } while(epsFile.eof == false);
    epsFile.close();

    reading lines of text until it is short of lines of text or encounters with the exact phrase "BoundingBox".

    However, Javascript is not automatically know what it is reading. EPS can contain binary information, you cannot use the plain text, playback functions. If you need read the binary code - and for that, you need the exact binary an EPS file format.

    In addition, you must analyse the context of the channel "BoundingBox" as well. It may appear in a text ("this image shows a BoundingBox of..") or a comment ("' % this image isn't a BoundingBox" "), or with additional or missing parameters.

    Long story short, 'Yes, it is possible to read EPS files.

  • Try to work with the EPS file in CS5

    I'm completely confused. I just bought a set of borders since an online site. The borders are in EPS format. However, when I open them in Photoshop and Illustrator, they are all on a single layer.

    I tried to select those that I want to use in Illustrator the using the direct Selection tool, and then to copy and paste it into PS. Only parts of the border are coming along. I'm getting lines instead of the entire block of color (they airmail stripes). If I try to use the "Select" menu or the wand magic, almost everything is selected, since all borders are borders plane red and blue!

    I don't have a lot of experience in Illustrator (almost none) so I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

    What I'm trying to do is to place borders around the old postcards in a digital collage.

    On the other hand, I wonder what kind of clip art service presents a giant bunch of borders as an EPS file, instead of like, say, png, or at least in layers. I just throw $5 into the sewer?

    Thanks for your help/advice.

    $5 seems like a lot of monet for this simple file. But $5 isn't much these days and $5 is not a big loss.

    I see that you have an old version of Photoshop Extended. CC of Photoshop can restore the fabric of many, but which will set you back $10 each month.

  • The difficulty in reducing the size of the eps file.  He is currently a huge 707MB!

    Hello...

    I can't reduce the size of an eps file.  He is currently a huge 707MB!  It is a fairly simple logo of the text (which were described) and a form, both filled with a pattern "leaf" gold. I guess this is the reason (from my color chart) which causes the problem.

    My client wants the eps file and I feel I have tried everything to reduce the size I could try to find out through various forums.

    Hoping that someone might have a new suggestion and any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance

    You have a ground shade using a .tif image. I have rebuilt using your forms as a mask on repeated twice the width of 360 points .tif substrates.

    Do you really need .eps format, it is quite outdated and ineffective. You can try to make a .pdf file.

  • How can I use the Eps files?

    Hello world

    I have download vector design business of brochures "shutterstock"... But I don't understand how I can modify and use in indesign

    I want to switch to indesign layers and modify

    InDesign is not a publisher of eps. The InDesign model is to imitate the glued model that designers were familiar with days before computers. Text blocks and graphics are arranged in the pages of a document, and if you wish, several documents can be run together like chapters in a biggest book, with the possibility to index, create a table of contents and have notes.

    Shutterstock brochure is really an eps? I guess it could be, but eps is a format which is largely abandoned these days. It could have been made from a variety of programs, but change isn't really the purpose of the eps. You want to get the original files that it was generated from and he change it. Illustrator is a program that can edit the eps files created in Illustrator, but this is not practical if they are Illustrator eps files. You can change some other programs with Illustrator eps files, but it can be much harder to do this is to create the file from scratch, depending on how it was interpereted by the Illustrator. Best bet is to get the InDesign files, if you want to work in InDesign.

  • PS CS5 will not save the preview of the EPS files

    I'm running a trial version of CS5 Design Premium on an all new Core i5 iMac with 8 GB RAM and running SL 10.6.3. So far, I have not noticed no major glitches, except for the following:

    When I save an image in EPS, I usually choose the standard Mac 8 bit preview. In this way, when put in Quark, I see the image. On my previous iMac, in CS3 and Leopard 10.5.8, it worked well when you import into Quark 7.5.

    Now, however, when you import the EPS in Quark 8.1.6, not a NOT preview. He even indicates that no preview is included in the 'Import image' window before you import it in, even though I see the 'Preview' in the preview window bit. All I get in Quark is a grey area with the name written inside. It's a bit weird!

    Then I thought, it's perhaps a question of Quark. I tried to import the same EPS file into my old iMac using Quark 7.5 and it does the same thing: no preview.

    What is even more strange is that I took an old EPS that has a visible outline and no other parameters changed he re-recorded (after resizing). The preview in Quark. Boom! Gone! New files behave in the same way.

    Another thing, I tried: I recorded it using a TIFF Preview. That seemed to work, although the preview looked very bad quality. That can work in a pinch, but this does not solve the problem of why my EPS files don't save not previews even though they are supposed to be included in the basic Mac preview options.

    Resave the EPS as TIF also works very well, but even once, does not solve the problem.

    Is this a bug or am I missing something?

    The problem with TIFF is that it produces a high-color misleading
    listen to samples, which is not useful in the layout. The JPEG preview is (or
    was, when he worked) a much more representative image.

    If they differ, then it is a problem in the software displaying the EPS file. There is no reason that JPEG and TIFF previews must be different.
