Trash folder

Hi everyone, I don't know if you have this problem, but after upgrading to OS X 10.11.4, I can't empty / remove any of the emails in the trash of the Email app. I click on delete (an or command-a + delete) but clicking on another folder (such as Inbox) and back to the trash folder, ALL the email I deleted supposedly, are still there.

Try to rebuild the mail basket. I also recommend that you repair the disk, then reinstall the update of El Capitan.

  1. Restart the computer and after the chime hold down the COMMAND and R until the Utility Menu appears.
  2. Disk utility and click on the button continue.
  3. Then select layouts withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) entry of the volume of the list to one side.
  4. Click the first aid tab on the toolbar and wait for the done button to activate it. Click it, and then quit disk utility.
  5. Select restart from the Apple menu.
  6. Download OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 Combo Update and install it.

Firefox does not delete my cache. Instead, it transfers it to a new folder "trash". Is - this kind of anti-malware privacy?

If the content is moved to the trash, then this indicates that there is a problem with the current cache.
Make sure that you don't have security software that interferes with Firefox cache management.

Start the computer in safe mode Windows with network support (on the startup screen, press F8) as a test to see if that helps.

  • In the trash folder will not delete

I followed the instructions using Terminal Server in this post, but I have a folder in the trash that will not clear.

Any other suggestions? I think the record was something I deleted under the statement, when I was unable to install and update a few months ago. The folder was automatically replaced by Mac OS X then is no longer necessary, but was obviously once a system file it does not permanently delete.

Check if the installation folder is still mount in the Finder. If it is to click on the little pointing up arrow to disassemble to see which releases it should be deleted.

  • In Outlook Express deleted emails go to the trash folder and remain.

Using Windows XP.  No matter what I do, I can't do these messages disappear and trash folders are becoming bigger and bigger.  This just started a few days ago.

By trash, I assume you mean deleted items? Deleted items is probably damaged. On the off chance that you want messages to be saved in deleted items, (a garbage can), move them to a local folder, you create and then follow these steps.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the files of user OE (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find the DBX file for deleted items and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

In tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in the background box and let it unchecked. {N/a if running XP/SP2}.

    And backup often.

  • How do you find the 'Trash' folder in the Mail window.

I deleted my emails in my folder to remove, but I need to find where these emails go and remove them from this folder.  This has to do with not being able to delete my emails on my cell phone from "mytouch".  I appreciate all the advice!

Windows Mail emails are stored as separate files.  When you delete them from your deleted items folder, they are either removed completely (although nothing on the computer is completely removed until it has been replaced by something else, but it is not accessible except by a file recovery program) or it may be in the trash.  Empty the trash in case it is there and it will be as removed as you can do (as before, it can be possiible recover using file recovery software) without using special 3rd party software that removes completely same files recovery software cannot recover it (but you can not do this once the file has already been deleted - it mut be deleted using the software.)  I do not think it is stored anywhere else unless you do backups (so it could be on the backup).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Trash folder is empty but show 7 emails on the list

Basket is empty, but still display 7 emails.

Unfortunately, as said Toad Hall, unified folders shows always correct message account. This is the main reason that I avoid using this point of view; I just spent make temporarily when I don't know which folder a message perhaps in.

However, I have never seen the same problem when using autodéfinies saved search folders, and they seem to use the same underlying mechanism as unified folders.

  • How to organize the files in the trash folder by date, ascending and descending?

My trash is sorted by date. Currently, it is ascending order. I would change to descending order.
If we need more info, I'd be only too happy to give it to you.

By clicking on a column header will sort by that column. Clicking the same header again will reverse the sort order. Click the Date heading.
