Troubleshooting: Addition of SSD and then boot from it

I have a G1 600 ProDesk, recently bought with a single 500 GB hard drive.

Before migrating all my programs from the old machine it's replacement (which some require installs ALONG), I wanted to install a SSD and use it as the startup disk.

I bought a Samsung 840 EVO 500 GB drive. I have hooked up to the system (SATA1), started and 8.1 Win Panel to format the SSD (Master Boot Record, like HD).

Stop the machine rebooted

I started the computer, the computer beeps and I got a system message "IDE Device Failed"

At the bottom of the screen, in a field otherwise black, was a message that says: "F1: Boot ' so I did and it seems to start fine.

I saw a note in a thread on the confirmation of AHCI, I thought I did this way:

1. start

2 valve

3 F10

4. in the main menu, select storage

5. a small window pops up stating: "SATA emulation: AHCI '... If you select, you can change it to IDE, but I don't change to AHCI is always.

After machine has started, and I installed Samsung software cloning and it recognizes the drive and cloned my main HD for the SSD drive. I will stop the machine.

I went to the SSD to the port SATA0 on the Board and put the HD in SATA1.

«Restarting the machine and got the IDE Device message "failure" again, with the message "F1: Boot".» So I did it (i.e., you press F1) and the machine (from the HD).

I will stop the machine.

Unplugged the HD (just to check), restarted the machine, the message "Unable to IDE device" once again, with the message "F1: Boot.  Then, when I press F1, I received a "No. System Disk" message, if I put the HP Win 8.1 restore disc in the DVD player, and it started from that.

Tried to install from DVD on the SSD drive. When I get to the part where it says "Where do you want to install Windows?" it shows the SSD, I select, which says "Windows cannot be installed to this disk." When I click on "Show details", he says: "Windows cannot appear on this disc. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the drive controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS Menu"

So... Two questions: what is the message of the IDE?

And the MFS 600 ProDesk disabled to install an OS on an SSD? Or should I do something differently with Win 8.1 software restore disc?

Maybe I need to solve the problem of message IDE firstly, re-use the Migration software and then try to boot from it? I have a feeling that is the source of the problems, anything you can help with would be appreciated!

  • How can I backup files, and then restore from that backup AFTER reformatting?

in the past, I tried to restore files from a backup, I did just before reformatting. but when I tried to restore the files, the last backup information obviously wasn't there, so I could not restore the backup on my external hard drive files. I don't remember the exact message I got, but I think it went along the lines, "unable to find a current or previous backup for this computer. You might have changed hard drives or computers or devices to backup since your last backup, or files you want to restore are from another computer. ». Fortunately I saved stuff that was really helpless as my photos, music and game configs.

so is it possible to run a backup, reformat the computer, and then restore the backup Dome before reformatting?

    I hope someone can help!

  • Photo library on mac was emissions additional no duplicated and then imported into Lightroom 6 PROBLEM: all duplicates appear (capitan OSX). Help me with this please!

I imported all my photos in photo library on macbook OSX capitan. The photos were additional emissions not duplicated using power foto and gemini. This in the photo library. After checking, I have 48,000 photos, 80,000 duplicted >. After that completely eliminate the unwanted duplicate photos I import to LR6 by drag and drop the trump card in the library. Then all photos, including the deleted ones appear.

Any solution or another way to import? photo for mac contains all my data being sought.

This file did you import into Lr?

And I would say you will find the duplicate in Lr, note the file name and then search the photo library to see if you have multiple instances of this photo. You cannot use Spotlight; you will need to use another utility like find easy.

But you are right; If you have deleted them permanently from the "recently deleted" album they should be in the trash; you could confirm that as well.

And use 'Show in Finder' alleged images duplicated in Lr to see where the copy is stored; that should also give you an idea of why it did not work.

  • Pavilioin P6710f: Changing Bios then boot from a USB flash drive

How can I update my bios to enable booting from a USB Flash drive. My bios is American Megatrends 6.07, 04/05/2011 and the only options are CD, hard disk, floppy. Is there a way to change this? To test the Windows 10 repair disk I created, my system froze to the blue screen "choose" keyboard layout. I couldn't use the usb mouse or usb keyboard. As a result, I had to restore my system to windows 7 using my Norton Ghost recovery disk and backups that I had done before downloading windows 10.

After the opening of the bios and clicking on the hard drive by default, I found that I had a choice, including the USB Flash drive that I have pugged just forward to restart. This answered my question. Thanks to everyone for their contribution. It was not necessary to Flash the bios after all.

  • Can I download the last FF with W98, then on a CD and then install from the CD on a Windows7 machine?

Just bought a new machine Win7 and am waiting for connection to broadband. Installed a modem in the new machine, but the download speed is of about 1/4 of that of my old faithful W98SE machine. Can I use my W98 machine to download the latest files to install FF on my hard drive, then copy those files to a CD and then use the CD to install FF on my Windows 7 machine?

You can download the installation of http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html file and copy this file to the other computer. There is just a single file to be copied.

  • Re: Satellite NB10T-A-101 - cannot boot from USB key

    Hello

I bought a new Toshiba Satellite NB10T-A-101 and want to improve performance by changing the HDD with a SSD and install windows Pro 8.1.

However, I am unable to boot from USB, it always mention:
+ Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. +

I already disabled secure, used 5 + usb startup different sticks (work fine on other laptops).

Can you please tell me what the approach is to change the HARD drive and then boot from a USB bootable (UEFI).

    Thank you.

    Hello

Laptop Satellite NB10T-A-101 was equipped with an Intel CPU 2810 n which is part of the new Intel Bay Trail-M platform.

This new technology Intel Bay Trail allows installation of UEFI capable systems:
    Win 8 or 8.1 Win

    Just a few questions:
Have you already changed the HARD drive to SSD drive?
If so, the new SSD is recognized in the BIOS?
Have you tried to boot from the USB flash memory stick 8.1 Win until you changed your SSD drive?

After a few moments, the laptop starts normally. Its an equium L40.

Have you tried changing the boot order in BIOS on a CD/DVD first and then boot from the CD?
There is also another possibility for the start of the STRANGE.
You can press the C key immediately after the laptop is turned on. This would allow booting from the CURIOUS reader.

    But I have a few questions;
Have you tried to boot from different bootable CD s like Win XP, Linux, etc. ? Is this possible?
    Perhaps disk failure?

I think that this could the main reason why the notebook missing CD.

    What do you think?

  • Boot from CD at startup - existing machine

Hi guys, I have a machine someone lost a password but there is data on I need to get out. My idea is to boot from a windows CD and sideload a copy of windows in order to connect and see the files, all within the exsiting VM but I can't mount the CD up to his punt. I know that ESXi does not allow me to mount a cd with the host, so I can put it to power on. is there another way, or someone has suggestions.

    Thank you

There is no option for the client mode, and there under the button by using the client CD will not connect until the device is turned on.

    True...

You can put a delay of the BIOS, enter ESC, connect the CD and then boot from the CD.

  • Re: Satellite C50D - A - 13 G - boot from HARD disk, you can't install Win on new SSD

I recently bought an SSD to improve performance a little, I of course want to install Windows on this.

The problem is that the laptop recognizes that the SSD is here, it tries only to start from what he can of course because it is empty.

Announces 'Check media [fail]' as well as ' no. Bootable Devices Found '.

I went into the start menu and tried booting from CD and USB, none of these options work, and again, the system attempts to boot from the Virgin SSD.

I've set both the USB and the DVD drive as the first boot device. Yet once, none of them work and you guessed it, the system attempts to boot from the empty unit.

What Miss me? There must be a way to get the system to boot something other than the Virgin SSD.

Out of curiosity, but what version of Windows you trying to install?

    Check it please http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2C03F80002R01.htm

  • XW6400: SSD and HDD bluescreen

My old HARD drive player has accident and I bought an SSD for my workstation, ADATA SX900 SATA III.  I put SSDS with and drive HARD Seagate Barracuda 1 TB SATA 7200 RPM, and at first glance, everything was ok, after 2 days, my pc has slowly gel and once has this blue screen appears. Now, I only use SSDS on workstation.

How can I put those together to work properly?

If your older HARD drive was the boot drive and crashed it somehow, you can trust data from the operating system that is located on this drive. As such, you must reinstall the operating system to ensure that all the data on your new SSD is indeed correct.

All your other personal data should be recovered from a backup, or if you have only these data at the disk 'crashed', it must be checked in some way to ensure that it is also OK.

However, you have not been clear what you mean by "I put SSDS with and HDD ' must clarify what you actually did or what you ment by this statement.

Some older HP worksataions play well with some Sata III drives. You can read about these issues here and here.

However, it is not clear whether the problem you have is related to the Sata II / Sata III issues such as discussed in the references above or related to the fact you can have cloned the old HDD to the SSD and then change the type Sata from AHCI ATA or AHCI + RAID in BIOS (which will result in blue screen unless the correct drivers are already installed).

If I were you, I remove the old hard drives from your system and insert the new drive SSD (wiped using BDAN). Then, I'd install clean operating system using HP system recovery disks or preferably a Microsoft Windows 7 installation disc. All of this assumes that your XW6400 can handle first indeed the SSD SATA III

    Good luck...
