Try to change the desktop background / Wallpaper
I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium with service pack 2. I'm changing my screen/for other background thing than the "all black" that is currently displayed.
I go to the control panel / personalize appearance and sounds / background screen and double click on the image I want as my desktop wallpaper. It does not change. I try pictures everywhere (windows desktop wallpaper / photos / sample images / etc) and get the same result. It does not change.
I tried the "related children '... Background screen problems, wallpapers appearing is not in customize display of no help. I am logged in as administrator.
Thanks in advance.
Hi CrazyPizzaJoe,
Run a scan for malware by installing the tool following "Malwarebytes" from the link: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
Make sure that you update the Malwarebytes tool before you run the analysis and then run a full scan and remove if infected files found on the computer.
After that, open a Notepad and copy the following text and save it as desktop.reg on your desktop
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

After you save the file on the desktop as doubleclick desktop.reg top and click Yes when prompted and click Ok to confirm, and then restart the computer.
Then try to change the desktop wallpaper and check.
Please answer if this helps.

Cannot change the desktop background
Removed some malware, restarted and now can not modify either the color of the background (black) Office or insert a photo, etc. Currently running XP. Any suggestions?

Check if these registry entries exist:

If 'GroupPolicyRefreshTime' or "GroupPolicyRefreshTimeOffset" is there, then delete them.HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System. If 'GroupPolicyRefreshTime' or "GroupPolicyRefreshTimeOffset" is there, then delete them, and then run the page of Kelly reg fix.
A default wallpaper called wp.bmp can be defined in HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System created by the smitfraud.c virus. Remove this and you will be able to choose the different wallpapers.

Try to change the wallpaper, it says that this feature has been disabled contact admin, me, system how can I get rid of him?
If you did not disable the ability to change the desktop background, then you can be infected with some form of malware on your computer. I would recommend that you run that a full and spyware antivirus scan to make sure that your computer is clean.
Try this:
1. click on start-> Type on the start search: type gpedit.msc-> press ENTER.
2. under Local computer policy, expand "User Configuration".
3. under User Configuration, expand "Administrative Templates".
4. under administrative templates expand 'Desktop '.
5. under the desk, click on "Desktop", on the right pane, double-click "wallpaper".
6. on the "Desktop WallPaper properties" click on the option button "not configured".I hope I could help

23 "monitor a 3-1/2" black band on the left side of the desktop background. How to expand the context in which to adjust Monitor?
It's the monitor that is provided with the DELL Expirion computer when it was purchased in July 2012. I paid a "technician" (certified) to transfer the info from my old computer.
If its a LCD monitor, you PC resolution to the native resolution of the screens?
Some monitors have a button self-configured, try pressing that. It can help if there is one.
At the same time, in your 19 "" are you the full desktop or is it lacks a little? If so, try to change the settings for horizontal and vertical screen on the monitor to move the image.
Sorry if this is how to navigate, it's hard to describe.
More info of calibration here - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows7/Getting-the-best-display-on-your-monitor
Also, some graphics card drivers were themselves built the calibration setting, which may be worth a visit, but this can vary from machine to machine and cards.

Where do you see a "black background" in iTunes? You can include a screenshot?
Command-shift-4 to take a screenshot of the portion of the screen showing the problem. Then drag the files to screenshot (which appears on the desktop of your Mac) in your reply in the Safari window message.
