try to move from 32-bit windows 7 to 64 bit

I have a server supermicro 32-bit with 4 GB of ram that I want to spend to 9 GB (3x2Go + 3X1Go) with little extra ram I have lying around.  what I understand reading on the internet, the product key does not differentiate between these versions of windows.

I divided my disk into two partitions and installed the 64-bit version to that empty via an iso of my Digital River or something like this (iso official microsoft) installed correctly, but when activation online, I said "the key to windows 7 home premium is invalid for activation."

So now I wonder if this problem is due to the fact that I have 2 OS running simultaneously, or if the product key is different between 32 and 64-bit windows.  I only have one hard drive, and no backup CD, while trying to have a backup plan didn't stop something like this happened.

You can use the same product key to switch to a different architecture (32 or 64-bit), even though its OEM on the same machine. As long as you have not both use at the same time, either on the machine, partition or another computer.

INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS.

a. one copy per computer. You can install one copy of the software on a single computer. This computer is "licensed computer.

b. a computer license. You can use the software on up to two processors of the computer under license at some point. Except as provided in these license terms, you cannot use the software on any other computer.

c. number of users. Except as provided in these license terms, only one user may use the software at a time.

d. other Versions. The software may include several versions, such as 32-bit and 64-bit. You may install and use only one version at a time.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

In some cases, the reactivation by phone may be required:

    What should I do?

So when you put the disk in it does not work properly? When the disc is inserted, you should have a window pop up with 2 options. 1. install and another to see what is on the disk. Choose to open the disc or explore. Navigate to the folder where is the photoshop CS4 .exe file (which runs the Setup program), right-click on the .exe file and choose Run as administrator and it should start. See if it will install. If this isn't the case, then read below.

I don't know how long you got in the installation until so chances are, you will need to run the CS4 Cleanup utility. 2 levels to run but do not use 1 or 2 just type number 3.

Before you try to reinstall the software make sure that adobe reader is not installed. If it is delete. It has caused problems in the past with vista and CS4 installs.

You can also disable windows Defender and all antivirus software. You can keep UAC Windows 7.

When installing CS4 to 90 percent, it stops almost and may take 5 to 10 minutes at the end. It's normal. What a pain huh...

After the installation is complete, restart

After restarting, go to the icon of CS4 64-bit or 32-bit (depends on 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7) in the starting area, right-click on CS4 64-bit (if you have windows 7 64 bit), and then choose Properties, Compatibility tab, and then check run as administrator at the lower part. Hit apply, ok to finish.

Now, run CS4 and run the update.

I don't know what you mean by "xp p2. Do you mean that you have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed?  If you want to run a 64-bit operating system, you must ensure that you have a processor 64-bit capable. You'll also need 64-bit drivers for all your hardware for any 64-bit operating system you want to install.

  • Want to move from 32-bit vista to 64-bit vista but have no disk.

Original title: Vista 32-bit to 64-bit without disc.

    Hi all

First post and not very technical minded (although not completely clueless) so go easy.

In short, I want to upgrade 32-bit vista to 64-bit vista but have no disk.

Long story, I have a dell latitude e4300 with professional vista installed on it. I bought the laptop from a company who buys wipes of the company and sells them on. When I bought the laptop it is everything I had... the laptop, manuals, disks etc. I want to increase the memory on the laptop 6 GB but have read that I need 64 bit vista to take advantage of this.

So, how can I do this with only the product code for windows? or is this even possible?

    Thank you very much

    John

  • Move from Vista to Windows 7 AND transfer on a different hard disk operating system

I want to upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit and in the same movement of time the OS Vista Home Premium 32-bit & a Seagate 80 GB HARD drive to two 250 GB hard drives in a RAID configuration. I intend to replace the 80 GB HARD disk with a faster drive Windows XP, so I find myself with a dual-boot system.  Apart from the exchange of small hard drives, the system will be unchanged compared to when I activated Vista.  Since it seems I have to reinstall all the programs on W7 in any case (damn and the breath), I wonder if it will be necessary (for reasons of product activation) or useful (for operational reasons) to first clone Vista to the larger players. I am aware that Seagate provides cloning software, also free that 250 GB seems a little bit today - but he will do well while this PC is still working. In case it is relevant, the Vista is OEM (I built the PC and I bought Vista with the motherboard), but I will get the retail version of Windows 7.  Most experts with thanks...

    Hello

We cannot move the operating system from one hard disk to another. However, we can install the operating system on another hard drive or take the whole operating system if necessary system image backup.
NOTE: You'll have to do a custom Setup to upgrade to the 64 bit version of Windows 7.
Windows Backup gives you the opportunity to create a system image, which is an exact image of a disk. A system image includes Windows and your control panel, programs and files. You can use a system image to restore the contents of your computer if your hard drive or computer ever stops working. When you restore your computer from a system image, it's a complete restoration; You cannot choose to restore individual items and all of your current programs, Control Panel, and the files are overwritten.

I'm trying to publish a movie on dvd.  The encoding has frozen.  So, I'm now trying to publish to this computer.  That won't happen either.  It says the following: WMM cannot publish to the specified location.  Check the original source files in your movie are still available, the publishing location is still available, enough free disk and try again.  There is enough free space on my computer, the location of publication is the computer and the used files are still there.  Help, please.  Do not know what to do to get this movie on DVD.

    Hi regshan,

Welcome on the site of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.

    Causes of the error message:
-Moved or renamed the files or folders you used original
-Computer memory inadequate for the complexity of your project, combined to tasks other than your computer is done as it makes the movie.
-By using the source files that do not work with Movie Maker, or are corrupted.
-Required Codec may be corrupt / missing
-Most of the problems of this type are linked to source incompatible, ether video, audio or image files

Suggestions to overcome the error message:

1: reduce the size of the movie file
2: reduce the Movie setting size
3: increase the size of the swap file

  • try to migrate from dell laptop windows 7 for Mac Lion Fusion 5

I managed to install a virtual maching runing windows 7, but when I try to migrate using the IP address, I get the message following "Migration converter cannot connect to the remote computer" that the two computers are on the same network.

Also tried to use the code of access but execution in an other error message.

Don't forget: the windows OEM licenses cannot be legally virtualized.

And since you can buy a license anyway, you had better build a VM from scratch - convert VM (especially of the pc vendors) is swollen and unstable.

If you do not need to convert (and have a way to get a legal license) using the standalone vmware converter and build the virtual machine on an external drive connected to the PC.

  • Move from Vista to Windows 7 - partitions

    Hello!

I just got my new Thinkpad SL500 at home - with Vista Home built in. I think to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional, but I have to ask about partitions.

There are 3 partitions on my hard drive:

    C: partition system "SW_Preload".

    Q: "Servicev003 system boot partition."

    S: recovery partition "Lenovo."

I don't know that I can get rid off the coast to keep my Lenovo features intact while changing Win 7 (I've seen change, because the real change would be not an upgrade, but complete reinstall with deletion of the old system) partitions.

Can I delete the partition q: "Servicev003?" Is - only used for Windows Vista or the only some features of Lenovo recovery? And the score of "Lenovo"?

All drivers are already available for Windows 7 Lenovo utilities?

    Thank you for all advice.

    George

    Hello

The Q score is to begin rescue and Recovery in case your partition C cannot start. Then you can restore your system to the image of the factory of the partition of S. The S partition will contain your Vista Home image, so it's not useful for you once you upgrade.

First thing you can do is to generate these partitions recovery media. You can use R & R to do. You will get a bootable CD with R R & Q score and two DVDs of the partition of S containing Vista.

Personally, I then removed the two partitions and installed Windows 7.  You can then use R & R to generate a new image of the system on a DVD. I recommend waiting until you have all you apps installed and the system set up. If you need to recover, then you start from the R & R CD and recover from the DVD.

I believe that it is possible to keep the partition Q but the boot sector will be replaced by Windows 7 so it needs to be restored to allow to boot in S. As I have never done this, maybe someone else can help.

The only way to get a full range of partitions is to use an image of Lenovo. I do not think that Lenovo offers these?

Personally I prefer for other alternatives of R & R like Acronis True Image, but the principle is the same, a bootable CD, then the image of an operating system on another media such as DVD or a network drive.

10 + years that I've never had to do a full restore so the convenience of having R & R available on the blue button does not for me outweighed the loss of space on a small SSD (80 GB).
