Two copies of super windows imposed on other hard disk

I think I have 2 sets of windows OS XP Home Edition superimposed on each other on my hard drive.  How can I cancel this situation.  It is slow and a lot of exhausted memeory. After a take-over of the factory, it shows more than 7 GB without something else installed.

Hi panfisher2708,

Prudent to do thing is first to back up all data (here you can use Ubuntu Livecd and pick up all the data you need to keep). Hoping that you have a system restore DVD, re - install XP.

Why I say? You will spend more than a day or two worth of effort when you can spend 6 hours to re - install a new XP. Even after you have correctly separated the two systems, your computer may not run as fast you have never known where you bought everything first.

The problem might be (1) you had two versions of XP installed as boot options (2) accidentally used bad recovery CD (rare) (3) Windows Update screwed to the top otherwise a registry damaged system happy (4) malware\trojans. (5) you added\deleted\modified device or device driver.

  • Why my computer says "Windows has detected a hard disk problem", even though it says that the drive works fine in the properties?

    Hello

    I was doing some courses on my computer until this window came on my screen and playback;
"Windows detected a hard disk problem. I immediately went and checked in the properties to see the current status of the disk, and it says "this device is working properly" I am confused and decided to restart my computer. Again, read the error message and it says that the disc was allowed in properties. Every 15 minutes or so, the same error message. I'm running on Windows Vista Edition Home Premium and have had the computer since 2008. Is this a virus? Or - is this just the computer falsely detect a problem?
    Can anyone help please?

    Thank you very much

Any suggestion would be great.  Thank you

You must first reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium, reactivate and then rerun the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional can make sure that it is turned on.

After which, you can download and install the free update for Windows 10.

Another option you have is to create an image of your current installation of Windows 7 Professional system and restore it on the new hard drive.

After the restoration of the image and adjust the layout of the partition, make sure that Windows is activated, then check Windows Update for the upgrade of Windows 10 or download manually:

    Retry the upgrade manually:

    Option 1:

    Download the media creation tool

During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.

  • Qosmio G30 - upgrade to Windows 7 and better hard disks

    Hello world

That's what we all want, right...

I have a G30 - 182, Windows Vista 32-bit. An external HHD, DW 1 TB. Now 3 years and for some serious upgrade.

I love the G30's big screen and very nice, as a photographer, I find the graphics excellent and accurate. One of the drawbacks is the primary HHD speed I can say. Performance index Windows says 4.2 which is totally unacceptable in 2010.

    So what to do?

I just upgraded the RAM to 2 x 2 GB Kingston HyperX, which has given a huge boost. The specs are product code: KHX5300S2LLK2 / 4G DDR2 SDRAM, time 4-4-4-12, CL 4, 667 MHz, SO DIMM 200 pin, 1.8 V. The price is right, and I guess that's better than the RAM original Toshiba which is of older date. Of course, I encourage everyone to do the same.

So what's next. I think that an upgrade to Windows 7. I think there are so many guidelines in this forum, I expect a lot of trouble here.

But how about a couple of new HHDs? Can anyone advice me on this point, please.

I would like a bigger and faster HHDs maybe. It will be a good choice: 2 X Toshiba MK5055GSX - hard drive - 500 GB - serial SATA 300 - tranferrate 300 Mbps - buffer 8 MB in size.

-but then comes the installation, huh... I have no idea.

    Hey Buddy,

    > Performance index Windows says 4.2 which is totally unacceptable in 2010.
Who said that this index is totally unacceptable in 2010?
As far as I know the highest score you can get on Vista is 5.0 so I think that your result is good and is not a reason to do a hardware upgrade.
In addition these benchmarks aren't important. If I m happy with my laptop and it s fast enough for me, everything is ok and I don't need no reference results.

In any case, new 500 GB HDDs should be a bit faster because they have a higher density of the date. This means that everything can be loaded slightly faster.
I put t know the exact details of these drives but if you really want some fast hard disks, you should buy one with 7200 RPM. They produce heat a little more and need more power, but access time is lower than on 5400 RPM.

In the best cases, you buy an SSD for the OS, programs and a 500 GB model for your data/photos. That of the best performance gain.

Finally, and especially if you can get all the drivers and tools for Windows 7, you can check here:

  • Is it possible to install Windows 7 on external HARD disk

    That is the problem.

A friend with a Toshiba laptop (do not know the model right, but probably with win7 - 6 month old machine) has a problem with the internal hard drive.
He crashed and his does not work.

It has the toshiba recovery CD and an external hard drive.
Is it possible for him to install win 7 on the external hard drive?

(the easy medium woyld be buying a new in-house but for the next 2 months because of his work that it is impossible).

    Hello

I don t think that it would be possible to install the Windows 7 external HARD disk.
You should replace the internal HARD disk and should put the new HARD drive in the laptop.
Then you should be able to install Windows 7 on the new HARD disc.

    Good luck

  • Windows Live Mail 2011, Windows 7, after a hard disk crash

    Hello

    I need help please!

Hard drive of my laptop has failed and shattered Windows. IT friend of mine he recovered eventually, but following his advice, I'll send it to the factory for an appropriate remedy.

In the meantime, I would like to know if I can recover emails in my boxes in all. All the addresses in my address book are preserved and are there when I logged in the Windows Live Mail.

However, I am very confused. I thought that Windows Live Mail is a bit like hotmail or google mail where I can access it anytime anywhere, so even if my hard drive has failed, I expected to see my old emails when I logged on.

If there is a way I can see my old mails, please teach me how do it, but I have the feeling that maybe it's not possible.

    Thank you!

You can use WLM in two modes.  We're really on the web Live Mail where it is stored on Microsoft servers.  The other (which most people use) is a mode in which the mail is downloaded to your computer and that are stored there as well as your contacts.  You are therefore responsible for the backup of your mail and contacts.   This web page will tell you how: http://canadiantech.info/?page_id=114

If your hard drive is still accessible by temporarily attaching to a USB port with a box designed for that, you can find your WLM file.  He was buried on 6 levels down if you need to know exactly where he is.  %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows live Mail.

I am opposed to where WLM stores my default mail.  You can move it to another place that is more easy to find which would allow you to easily save this file directly.  WLM provides the tool to do this movement quit nicely.   I use the normal WLM backup, as described in the link above AND also save the entire file WLM.  My mail, contacts and calendar are probably the most valuable thing on my computer and I not backed up really well.

Interestingly, I found in the past that most (not all) of the time, if you replace the Store for WLM folder with a copy of the file you are recovering, it will include your contacts and calendar as well as all your e-mail folders.  If you do this, you are NOT importing anything.

If you can't, you can connect to your Internet service provider, once you have installed and launched WLM, and download his Inbox for you.  You will not find contacts, calendar or other folders there normally.  In fact, many of my clients in these situations to discover thousands of emails downloaded into their WLM system.  This occurs if you have never removed from your Inbox to your ISP.  So, before you connect WLM to your ISP, go to your ISP webmail and clean up the Inbox.

It will be only a bad sector. When you get this message, Windows is NOT pleasant.

Don ' t mess around the disk check. Back up or copy all your stuff important to an external hard drive if you have one. If you do not, it would be a good time to make the investment.

If your machine is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer of the computer for hard drive replacement.

If she is no longer under warranty, buy a replacement hard drive soon and move your system through him.

Manufacturer recovery disks will cross the OS and restore the recovery partition. The backup/copy of your important data will allow you to restore the data.

No doubt you have installation media and codes key for all your other stuff. Note now...
