Ugggh.  I have a 27-inch iMac late 2011 and the hard drive was updated with a new SSD.  The integrated cd/dvd had to be taken out.  I then bought a thought of superdrive, it should work.  It's frozen on my iMac!  Gee, who could have possibly guessed that would happen?  I tried all kinds of silly workarounds, I found on the internet, but still it will not register the stack of DVDs and other discs I have.

If you're like me and upgraded your iMac that came with a cd/dvd drive internal... so he has to come out to give way to the fusion or the SSD drive, do NOT buy the apple superdrive.  It will work with your computer!

Think I'll get a laptop samsung...

Ironic, isn't it? Own Apple SuperDrive will not work with Apple computers. Shame you don't check here first that we would have warned you. Return Apple overpriced and buy a nice third-party player for a third of the price. I love the LG units. You can consider a loading plate because they are more reliable, and you can use these pesky disc when you get one.

  • My iCloud is full and I would like to spend on 5000photos on the hard drive and then remove them to iCloud.  How do you do that?

My iCloud is full and I want to transfer most of my 5000 images in the cloud on the hard drive on my iMac which is about 10% of storage capacity.  How can I do this?  Thank you

    1. Photos > Preferences > iCloud > iCloud (original Dungeon) photo library
    2. Wait for them to download

If you want to remove the cloud, you can do two things:

System Preferences > iCloud > manage > photo library > remove and disable

    or

iCloud.com > pictures (select and delete)

Please note, however, if you enable iCloud library again at any time in the future on your Mac, all the photos on your Mac will download again. You may find that buying more space iCloud is the best answer for you.

  • How to take possession of the hard drive since the upgrade to Windows 7?

I've upgraded to Windows 7 from XP.

Unfortunately I can't access all the files on my old hard drive that is on my computer as drive E, nor I can access all the files on the external hard drive USB either. He says that access is denied. These readers are related to my old account on my XP system who crashed and died.

How to "properly" take possession of these other drives on my new Windows 7 system?

Previously, I tried to do with my user name on the Windows 7 system to have all permissions. It does not work. It changes the attributes of all files and folders on my other readers but once everything is done, I still have the same problem and I am unable to access it.

I also tried to use a program called "edit permissions" and who did the same thing and I still have the same problem. No method worked.

Please Microsoft, you designed these operating systems if please explain to me how to take full ownership and control hard 'MY' in my XP system discs so I can access all the 'MY' files and folders?

    Thank you.

    John

    1. In 'My Computer' (or simply 'computer' now), click on the drive and choose Properties.
    2. On the Security tab, click Advanced.
    3. On the owner tab, change the owner to be your username (you will need to search for and select your user name).
    4. Apply the new owner to "all subcontainers" (all files on the disc).
    5. Click OK until all of the settings are saved.
    6. Try to explore the disc again.
  • How can I get Windows 7 to read RAW hard drives without having to format the hard drive due to important work on this subject?

Original title: the file format of external hard drive is the RAW and not NTFS. How can I get Windows 7 to read RAW hard drives without having to format the hard drive due to important work on this subject?

I put the hard drive on an XP and Vista machine and can read the hard drive, but not with Windows 7

    Hi Zling,

It works on other OS? When did you finally read the disc and with what OS? If you can read the drive and make a backup of the data on this subject, I you suggest to backup the data on the drive and then put it in using the NTFS file system.

  • Satellite L40: How can I recover the files from the hard drive

    Hello

Can someone help me please. About a week ago I started to have a clicking sound coming from my laptop Satellite L40. My laptop froze and when I restarted, I was directed to the system configuration with a message at the bottom saying
"Pri Master Hard Disk Drive SMART status bad, Backup and replace."
    Press F2 to assume. »

I pressed F2, but I don't have any idea what to do?

Can someone tell me how do I backup my files until my HDD disappeared completely or if it was can I use another device to get down them.

I tried using the recovery disk, but the disk does not respond?

    Help, please

    Pete

    Hello

This message looks like a warning of S.M.A.R.T. notification
This means that your HARD disk will eventually fail.
It can happen in the next few days or it can't happen for a few months but the SMART feature has detected that the drive is wrong then it should be replaced as soon as possible.
It seems that your laptop is not very old, so the warranty should cover all replacements.

I see only one way to access and back up the data. Eventually, you could buy an external enclosure SATA USB HARD drive and was able to connect the HARD drive to another computer.
I don't know if you will be able to access the HARD drive because of the failure, but if you want you can try this m.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A210 - 1 4 - using Recovery DVD after replacing the hard drive

My laptops hard drive failed last year and had to be replaced. Vista was installed by the repairman.
However, now I want to restore the system failing.

Will be my Toshiba Recovery Disc I received with my Word still PC although the hard drive is different? How will I know?

    Hello

You can use the Toshiba Recovery disk, even if the HARD drive has been replaced.
Usually it s no matter you use a new HARD drive...
The recovery disk would be to format the drive HARD integer and must install the Toshiba image correctly.

  • Satellite A100-192: what I lose warranty if I create a partition on the HARD drive

    Hello everyone,

I want to format my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A100-192) and 2 partitions. I've been using EMP cd + recovery CD, it's very simple, but I don't want to install all the programs of Toshiba. I want to install a Windows 'fresh '.

I read all the messages on Toshiba Express media CD + recovery CD and xxxx on the HARD drive. I'm a bit confused. Many of you said: 'use only EMP recovery cd + CD' or ' do not xxxx 2 or more on your HARD drive - you can lose the warranty of your laptop.

I have another CD with Windows XP Pro OEM. It is best to create partitions, install from that cd and after that to install the drivers from TOOLSCD?

Of course, I don't want to lose my warranty, please tell me how it is better to do!

    Sincerely yours.
    Daniel

    Hello

    > Many of you said: 'use only EMP CD + recovery CD' or '' do not 2 or more partitions on your HARD drive.
' > you can lose the warranty of your laptop.

Someone told you a big story :)

It turns out; you do not lose the warranty after you create partitions on your HARD drive!
Only if you open the laptop and will try to fix something by yourself, you will lose your warranty.

Of course, you can use your fresh and original Windows operating system. After the installation of the operating system, you can install the drivers from the CD tools Toshiba or you're going to download it from the page of Toshiba.

  • Question of replacement for the hard drive MacBook Pro Late 2008

    Hello

My MBP HD headed to the exit so I'll take the plunge and get a replacement SSD to install it.  Being not too tech savvie I'm trying to cover all the bases before starting the replacement so I think I'm OK to get to the old and a new one outside.

I read that a clean install of Mac OS X is recommended.  The plan is to install the new SSD and connect the old HD the MBP for a speaker for the migration of files once the SSD has been formatted and installed operating system.  One of my questions is what OS can / should I install in the first place on the new SSD.  I have the Leopard installation disc that came with the MBP, I also have a Snow Leopard install disc I bought (this is the version 10.6.3).  Start with the Snow Leopard disc or do I have to install Leopard first?  I would get the new OS SSD up to version I'm currently on (10.7.5).

My other question is around RAM.  As part of the upgrade, I plan to replace and max of RAM, I've seen is now 8 GB between the two slots.  I read what the maximum capacity to 8 as part of an update of the firmware.  So the question is: should I do all updates of OS before installing the RAM?  The MBP would difficult treat 8GB if the firmware update is not installed through the different software updates that will be needed once the OS is installed on the SSD?

    Advice/suggestions appreciated.

    See you soon

    J

Replace the RAM can be done at any time. If you have already downloaded the firmware required, it has already updated your material and will not be lost when you replace the hard drive. However, according to Apple, your computer can manage only a 4 GB. I could be missing something...

See here: MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) - technical data sheet

As far as your OS issue, the best thing to do is get the updated software to match the information that you are migrating back (to make sure no problem with migration). The best way to do it, is to download recovery disk wizard and install it on an extra USB key. This allows you to install Lion without having to install Leopard or Snow Leopard first. This will also use disk utility to format the new SSD correctly.

  • remove the hard drive from the a1112n Pavilion

I want to delete my old HP hard drive and replace it and need some guideance step by step to do. Any help would be appreciated.

    Again, it is another question.

    (1) If you do not rely on the maintenance of this machine, just pull the hard drive and it has to break.

    (2) If you just want to delete sensitive data, it becomes more delicate with a profane.  The best scenerio is delete the data files, then you transfer files small image and these will write in the previous blocks. Then you remove the small images and then randomly to download the same or slightly larger. Finally, you write too the blocks where the data has been written.

    (3) otherwise, move you all your photos, files, word, music and other data files to a USB key. Then reformat with the installation of WIndows XP CD set (these 11 cd I mentioned).

    (4) probably (as my friend pointed out this reading) you're a layman.  Any student would be probably able to help.

  • Is it advisable to defragment the hard drive of a camcorder?

Hi, anyone with experience knows if I should defragment/optimise the hard drive of my handycam Sony HDR - SR12E AVCHD PAL?

I use PerfectDisk with 64-bit Windows 8.1.1 and first elements 11.

' 'This PC' (formerly 'my computer') recognizes the drive but the message when she reads the by clicking Properties/tools ' optimization is not available.

However, the PerfectDisk program recognizes the drive and seems ready to optimize. But I would like someone with experience to confirm this defragmentation/optimization of the handycam hard drive is recommended.

    Regards, Phil

RTA Hi, I have indeed heard back from Sony, and it should defragment the hard drive of a Sony camcorder! We should format it! -I copy and paste emails from Sony:

    Hi Phil,

My name is Troy. Please contact Sony. I apologize for the late response.

I studied this for you. We certainly do not recommend or don't recommend to defragment the hard disk, in fact this might void the warranty if within the warranty period.

What I would recommend, instead of deleting the files after copying them to the computer, I recommend you format the hard drive.

Formatting the hard drive will erase all data on the hard drive and it will do it more efficiently than deleting the files.

To format your hard drive on your handycam, follow these steps:

    1) press the HOME button

    (2) select MANAGE MEDIA

    (3) select MEDIA FORMAT

    (4) select HARD drive

    (5) select YES

    (6) [completed] should appear, press OK.

    (7) finish. Now use the camera as normal.

    * Note, as mentioned, all data will be erased, so make sure you only format once you have everything you need saved.

  • How to partition the hard drive in my satellite M40X-189?

Please can you advise the team?
I would like to have the operating system and application programs in a partition and the data I've created in another partition.
Please can I have advice from the team?
Has anyone partitioned the hard drive on their satellite M40X-189 and what software did you use to do the partitioning?
Also, I just defragged my hard drive and the card reader can be seen at: http://www.seniorvalues.org/drive%20map.jpg
I am curious about the above provision given that free space if 52%, but white space does not reflect this and there is a piece of defragmented files and folders around the middle of the big whitespace at the end of the training I was expecting to be adjacent to the last great defragmented file.
    TIA

    Hello

I use partition magic to create and manage new partitions. In my opinion it of the best tool if you want to work with partitions.
I have 2 partitions on my unit. C for OS and D for the 3rd of data and files. In this case if I recover my unit only the first C partition will be formatted.

    Good bye

  • Swapped the HARD drive of the Pavilion G6 2264sa with a Pavilion G6 1331sa HARD drive / brightness not wking... !!

    Hello

Hope everyone is well and wonder if anyone can help me. My problem is my daughter's laptop, she is in the middle of the student to College and all of his work is on his laptop which is a:

    HP Pavilion G61331sa/1.6 GHZ AMD Quad-Core A8 - 3520M APU with Dual Radeon 6620 graphics card + 7450 M / 6 GB memory / dedicated graphics video AMD Radeon HD 6620 + 7450 M bi - GPU (1 GB of DDR3 memory) / 750 GB SATA (5400 RPM) HARD drive / running Windows 7.

Unfortunately, my son accidentally spilled juice on the laptop. I quickly took all the preventive measures, turn off the power / battery disassembly / HDD and upsets the laptop. I also left in the closet of broadcast for a few days to dry out, then tried again. It lights up and the power light stays on and the fan works but the caps lock button warning light flashing and the screen remains empty, even when I try to use an external monitor via HDMI connections again the external screen is blank. It seems that most of the spill was on the left side of the keyboard because the keys are very sticky this side. I talked to HP to my problem that the laptop is still under warranty, however as we know that it does not cover accidents, and no, we don't have the coverage of the accident. My daughter is in the middle of exams a solution was needed pronto. It was suggested by HP techy guy to buy the modern equivalent with the same HARD drive and just change the HARD drive and update all the drivers.

    I bought a HP Pavilion G6 2264sa / Intel® Core™ i3 - 2370M / 4GB memory / 750 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive / graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 (up to 1.65 GB) running windows 8 (64-bit).

I changed the HARD disk as proposed and updated all the drivers. There was a slight problem starting up but just had to go into the BIOS at startup (F1 key) Startup Configuration / settings and do know the Boot from the HDD instead of CD ROM, etc.. The HP Pavilion G6 2264sa started with the G6 1331sa HARD drive and works very well. My daughter doesn't have to worry about spending time to find away around a new laptop and windows 8. everything is just where she knows that it is.

The only problem I have is the brightness (f2 and f3) doesn't seem to work and the screen is very bright degree to cause a headache. I have uninstalled and installed the graphics drivers but still no control over brightness...!

Any ideas where I have gone wrong?

Your suggestions and ideas will be very well received and appreciated.

    Thanks in advance...

This computer does not display any right screen?

And caps lock flahs once in 4 seconds?

If it has been: is failled into a CPU and they want also to repair or change your motherboard.

In any case, go to a place and make planning expenditures compared with the price of your laptop.

Other way, the disk its ok so your girls its safe.

    You are very wellcome.

If the HP Forum do not delete my account, I will have more pleasure and response.

F11 entered to access advanced hp Recovery Manager options tempted towards the top of the entire disk, all files show while listing to back up, attached to my external hard drive current over the back with success.  Plugged external on another laptop, new files since the previous backup are no where.  Should I buy a new external hard drive and repeat the backup via Recovery Manager Advanced Options or should I remove the internal hard disk and insert it into a case and apply in usb on another laptop to view the files.  I know when my computer crashed, I had too many windows/tabs open and too much process and tried to interrupt a process and I confused his little brain and now he has Alzheimer's disease.  I am freaked because I'll lose everything 2012 including some very important documents and about 50 000 pictures HD (yes I learned my lesson backup!) Hello

This backup after pressing F11 is a HP backup option, not a Microsoft option.

I suggest that you contact HP or ask their Support Forums.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/

It's the normal advice I'd give to record data; but we have no idea of the State of your hard drive.

    Saving your files:

You can remove the hard drive and put it in a hard drive USB enclosure > plug it into another computer > and try to read and copy your data in this way.

Or, you can download Knoppix > make a bootdisk to > start your system with it (IF your material is all work) > and copy your data from the hard drive like that.

    See you soon.
