Two different operating systems on the same hard disk.

I have an Acer PC with windows 7 installed. Under 'Computer' it shows the C drive and D drive. I want to load Windows XP on drive D. Someone at - it advice on how I would go to this topic? Checking on some of the forums, he mentions that Windows XP must be loaded first on the C drive which I guess means having to remove windows 7 first? (Then re-load on drive D) Any help is appreciated.

Dual boot Windows 7 and XP with Windows 7 installed first (method #2), you can:

http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/8057-dual-boot-installation-Windows-7-XP.html

Note: If your D: drive is the recovery drive you must not touch anything.

Before changing the computer, create the installation discs for Windows 7:

Acer - create recovery discs:

If this is a new computer, there no drivers for the older Windows system, meaning that it will not work properly.  First, you will need to check with the manufacturer of the computer, if they have XP drivers for your computer.

Next, you will need to use an available XP license you have, or buy a new and install on your computer. Insert the disc to install in the computer, restart, and then start the installation. During the installation process, you can format the Windows 7 partition and then continue with the installation of Windows. You will need to back up your files and reinstall all your programs.

You cannot use a Windows 7 key to activate XP.

  • Different operating system on the same logical unit number?

I have a 3 esxi and SAN shared storage servers. On storage, there are a few LUNS shared between several VMS with different OS.

It is a good practice to hold the similar OS on the same LUNs, for example Windows XP or 2003 virtual machines on a LUN, LINUX on other ther?

You ask people to guess what should be your storage configuration. You should talk to your San and using the IOPS tested engineer / s.

I have problems activating windows x 64 bits.

I reinstalled the operating system on the same computer multiple times, however, this time it is said, I'm 'cannot be enabled. Recently, I updated my motherboard and changed to a quad core. I would appreciate help from the administrator. Legitimately, I bought my version of Vista x 64 tiger direct for years and relied on it as my OS for a while now. Any live medium or other assistance, advice, etc., would be appreciated. This operating system has been reinstalled several times, and the last time I had to reinstall it is because I closed windows because he wasn't updated correctly, and then restarting the operating system has not yet worked so I HAD to reinstall. Now windows says that my code is already used. I'm ready to take pictures, show my keycode and do anything to get my system online. Vista is saying I need to activate within 3 days. Also, I have problems installing Service Pack 1. Which maybe has something to do with my questions? Please, someone help me!

    Mark,

In this case, you will need to contact Microsoft by phone for your landline number. Usually, most product keys have some time, they can be turned on before you reach this State.

  • Operating system and the new hard drive

    I have a question:

    I have a HP a4302f - with stock specifications:

A computer virus has little or nothing to do with a hard disk crash. Please include the exact error messages and/or screens that remains stuck on the computer.

A 500 GB hard drive at 7200 RPM SATAII should run around $ 45 to $ 70, and the operating system can range from $ 0 to $ 30 depending on exactly how handle you the situation.

Is that what you had created your HP recovery disc set staff when you first set up your computer, you would be able to return the computer to a factory State even with a new hard drive. Since it does not appear that you have created these disks, you must buy a set of HP recovery disks or disk installation of operating system with COA and product key. None of these methods should work as expected and you will leave with an operating system on the new hard drive.

You can order a set of discs of HP recovery directly from HP or third-party ComputerSurgeons.com. Purchase of a full blown Windows OS is not really necessary and you can actually download the Windows operating system to use with the key already on the side of your computer. For a hard drive, look at Frys.com Newegg.com, Amazon.com, etc.

If you have any other questions, please post them here.

  • Why I have two different execution plans for the same query on two different servers

    Hello everyone.

I need your help to solve the problem quickly.

In a nutshell, we have two servers that have the same version of Oracle RDBMS (11.2.0.4 EE). One of them for purposes of development and another is a production one.

We have therefore two different execution plans for the same query executed on both servers. The only case of execution is OK and another is too slow.

So I have to slow down the work of query using the same scheme to explain that young.

  • How can I change the file permissions that are made in the other operating system on the same machine?

    Hi all

I installed 2 operating in two different drives (drive C & D) systems in the same laptop.
Recently I have re-installed the Windows7 operating system on drive C. And formatted the D drive. Now, I have a BONE in my system.
Now the problem is, I can't open some video files (the names are colored in green) who says that you have no permissions.
I found that "Encrypt contents to secure data" is enabled in advanced of this specific file properties.
When I go to turn off this option, it says that you have no permissions. It shows the name of the owner as a previous user of the operating system
in the other disk drive D (that I already formatted)
How can I get out of this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

If encryption is not involved (if you do not encrypt the files originally) and is just a file permissions problem - simply take possession of the files first and then change the permissions when your account has full permissions on the files/folders that you need.

If you do not backup your encryption certificate and key encryption is involved, then the data are almost lost to you.

  • Operating system on the new hard drive recovery

    Hello

The hard drive of my Satellite 1900 303 hangs almost (SMART), and the warranty has expired.
Can I put a new hard drive in it and use the old recovery DVDs to put Windows XP on it? (I suspect it works only on the original hard drive)

    Thanks in advance,
    Randy

    Hi Randy

You can do it. Features of the different operating system Toshiba tools don t depend on HARD drive.

Change the HARD drive and install the OS using the Toshiba Recovery CD. This will work. If you have any problems please write again.

    Good luck!

  • Targeting different versions of the operating system with the same code

    Hello again,

I'm looking to use some features of the OS 5.0 such as the transitional API.  Is there sort of having a base code that will compile in different versions of the JDE, but exclude the code blocks if the OS does not meet the requirements?

For example, transitions on a device to OS 5.0 but not appear on device OS 4.5.

Ideally, I'm looking for a solution that would integrate directly with Eclipse and debug without any extra steps in the two versions of the operating system.

Try to do research on the "preprocessor directives", you can use this to do what you need.

Basically, you wrap the code OS 5.0 in the guidelines such as:

    #ifdef VER_5
    System.out.println ("This compile for 5.0");
    #else
    System.out.println ("This compiles for no 5.0");
    #endif

Then, enable you or disable directives in the compiler generate COD versions for each platform.

  • try to set up a home network with two different operating systems.

My mother has a desktop in Vista and two laptop computers, 1 on Vista and XP 1. the office is connected to the internet and has a wireless modem. the two laptops are wireless connections and both can connect to the internet using the wireless. The printer is connected to the desktop computer and file/printer sharing enabled. I can't connect to a home network.

Home both my desktop and my laptop are Windows 7 and both are connected to the home network and I can share my printer. I can't seem to find the right/instructions buttons to connect his and do his work. Any suggestions?

I tried to run the tutorial "set up a home network" and solve problems, but since they are different versions that the buttons are not in the same place and are marked differently.

    Hello

This"the desktop computer is connected to the internet and a wireless modem" , is not clear.

To have a coherent network, the Modem is connected to the network, the router must be connected next Modem WAN, and the wire from the computer or the wireless must be connected to the router.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic.

If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

When you have finished the configuration of the system, it is recommended to restart everything the router and all computers involved.

    -------------

If you have permission and security issues with Vista/Win7, check the following settings.

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

    * Note . All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account onall computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users. It is available to avoid the need to configure permission for each on its own, it does not mean all those who feel that they would like to connect.

  • How can I transfer the operating system on the new HARD drive?

Toshiba Satellite C850D-11F, Windows 8.1. Out of warranty

The hard drive is no longer achievable and will have been checked and declared "Kaput". I can get my hands on a fresh drive. But how to save the operating system that came with the laptop. Toshiba provides a free license? Is it possible that the licence can be transferred. I have the serial number etc. on the sticker on the back of the laptop.

I assume that you did not create recovery media, right?

  • Portege R600 - 13 X - how to reinstall the operating system on the new HARD drive?

    Hello

I inherited a Portege R600 - 13 X of my colleague, who hit and killed the hard drive. I installed a new hard drive, but you don't have operating system installation diskettes as he said that the computer has not come with any. To make things even more difficult, I believe that the optical drive may not work. My old R500 had a dead optical drive and after I replaced it (he has not yet worked) I was told it is perhaps something to do with the ribbon cable, which piggy back off the coast of the SD card reader, then to the motherboard.

Anyway, is it possible for me to install Win 7 Professional (I have the original windows key) from a USB flash drive? Or y at - it a specific OS recovery/reinstallation disk that I can download Toshiba?

Any advice would be very welcome
    Thank you
    NJ

I have a Portege R600, and he has been a formidable workaholic, although now showing its age with newer software.

I think these machines came with pre-installed Vista and your friend must have created a set of recovery discs when they got off the machine.

Toshiba did release a drive to upgrade when Windows 7 is released which was available to the buyer within the free upgrade period you. You may be able to find a disk, but you will need the Win7 license to go with it.

If not, your only option is likely to be to buy a disk and license. Of course, you can find the specific Toshiba drivers are missing. If you think about it, it's extremely unlikely that you will be able to locate what is essentially a free Windows 7 download install disc.

Without an optical drive, you need to use an external USB drive and the BIOS to boot from that first force.

I hope that you have succeeded.

  • HP 932C PRINTER DOES NOT WORK ON A NETWORK WITH TWO DIFFERENT OPERATING SYSTEMS.

I have a 932C HP printer connected via USB to a desktop Windows XP (Dell E520), which is part of a home network.
I also have a HP Pavilion dv5 notebook, running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - bit, connected to the same network. This book can find the printer on the network. However, when I try to capture the 932C printer, the following dialog box appears:
"The printer"hp deskjet 930C series"server has not the printer driver installed. If you want to find the right driver, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel and contact your network administrator or the OEM equipmente for the printer driver. »
When I click OK, another dialog box appears:
«The file ' *.» INF' we (unknown) is needed. Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK. »
However, I can't find any feasible *.inf file in laptop HP hard drive (both partitions).
I tried to download the driver from the HP website, but it says that Windows Vista already has the driver for this printer! Well, now I'm stuck!
I want to emphasize that the printer works fine if I connect it directly to the USB port on the HP laptop. But I want to use the printer via the network, keep it hooked to the Windows XP desktop.
How to solve this problem? Thank you.

There is a post where a user got it works with another printer. I'll link below then you can try the solution here. Let me know what happens.

Share the printer for 64 bit with 32-bit system
