U200 with QLogic QLE2462 againt HP MSA2000fc?

Hello.

We are considering purchasing a U200 server and I am woundering if there are no reasons whe this woulden can't work with our storage HP MSA system 2000 CF if we equip our server with a QLogic QLE2462 FC HBA?

Best regards

Johan Christensson

Hi John,.

No there is no problem with that.  The C200 is fully certified with QL HBA.  The QLE2462 requires just a PCIe x 4 slot.  The C200 has a x 16 full and low x 8 profile, so you should be fine.

Regarding compatibility with the table, also long the HBA is compabile with the array (MSA2000fc), I it is positive, it shouldn't be any problem.

Kind regards

Robert

Have you tried to update the BIOS or change settings in the BIOS?
The u200 Pro has been delivered with the Toshiba BIOS I hope
On the second page of the BIOS, you can try to change the mode of PC Card controller. You may notice improvements.

For digital pilot card PCMCIA TV in Vista, you must ask the card making or visit the support page sorry that's all I can suggest

  • Satellite U200 with Win XP - utility to change device display does not work

    Hello

I think there was nothing wrong with its installation since I encounter the same problem.

New installation of win XP on a satellite U200 Pro.
Windows XP Home edition upgrade to sp3 immediately. Then downloaded all the drivers based on serial number of the toshiba Web site and then installed in the same order as shown in the list of installation but I get the same error as sjoemie1 when I tried to install "hotkey to display" etc.

SOMEONE KNOWS HOW TO REINSTALL THESE TWO FILES?

    Hello

The v6.05.00 of the common Modules for Win XP should be installed in the first place.

In addition, there are two tools called

    * Utility Hotkey to display v3.4.4.1 - XP devices *.

    and

    * View edit the v2.3.0.0 device *.

The two part of the software allows you to display on screen LCD LCD + CRT or CRT mode by pressing Fn + F5

So if you have problems to install the first utility, forget it and try another.

  • Several QLogic QLE2462, HBA in an ESX Server twin?

We are studying the possibilities of virutalize some of our SAN FC connected servers. These servers are more data intensive, and each of the 10 physical servers 2 paths for our EMC CX SAN. The question comes down to virtualization to them, we will continue to soon use the LUNS of same as physical origin servers used in RAW mode. These LUNS are DATA LUNS only and operating systems will be held in images VMDK on a VMFS LUNS.

Since each of these servers had a connection to the consolidation of our fabric SAN 3 or 4 of them to a single server VMWare would free many fiber connections on the switch. And the question was raised if once before 4 servers with their own direct SAN connection would be affected having to share a single path to the San.  This makes we wonder if anyone out there has multiple HBAs in a single ESX host? Would you add x 2 or maybe even 3 x QLE2462 HBA in our unique AREA of HOST ESX? Will be ESX using these cards or it always by default is simply having a connection and the rest comes to be considered as standby?

    Thanks in advance.

Well, do your hosts (at least in this example) less than 500 KB/s and a reasonable number of IOPS / s, 1 card so should be much (although I recommend 2 cars for redundancy).

  • QLE2462 HBA problem

    Hello

I have a big problem with our qlogic QLE2462 hba.

    In a first time information

We have HP DL365 G5 server with hba qlogic qle2462, a qlogic sanbox 5600 and a storage of e610f promised vtrack. On the disks on the local server, we installed esxi 3.5 installable u3 with hp management components. On the computer host is installed the new firmware and on the HBA qlogic fiber switch and promise storage too.

If I want to install the os esxi or if I start after the installation I wait more than 10 minutes on this point: qla2300_707_vmw module loading. If I try a storage Rescan adapters in the VirtualCenter it hangs too.

So, I can't add storage, but I would like to work with a shared with our 10 esxi servers storage. where is the problem.

I tried to install the last two patches esxi. So I have on the host of this version: VMware ESX Server 3i, 3.5.0 130755

If you share all the LUNS on all esx hosts, then you can disable the logical unit number masking - but in this case all LUNS are visible to all the hosts (windows too - if you set up some).

  • Satellite Pro U200: Display Resolution changed to 1024 x 768, after sleep (Vista)

I have some problems with my Satellite Pro U200 (WinVista, BIOS 3.50, Display Driver 7.14.10.1217).

After the exit mode standby, the display shows the correct resoluion of 1280 x 800 for a second and then goes to 1024 x 768. It's very annoying.

I tried to uninstall / reinstall the display driver, but it did not help.

    Does anyone have an idea?

Well, I remember a similar problem happened on U200 with Windows XP and Windows XP MCE.
The update of the graphics to the version 6.14.10.4543 driver has solved this strange switching

Maybe the next update of the graphics card driver will clear this issue

  • Upgrade Vista on the Satellite U200-126

I would like to tell my experience with the updated BIOS with my Satellite PRO U200-126.
I bought this computer last year, this is a Core Duo, not a Core 2 Duo processor. It has been working perfectly with Windows XP Professional.
All my problems began when I tried to upgrade to Windows Vista.

I bought an upgrade of RAM, because my computer has only 512 MB. I removed the keyboard and installed the additional memory module... It is ok. I bought a new SATA hard drive 160 GB, to install the new operating system on it. I bought Win Vista DVD. I downloaded all compatible applications and drivers from the TOSHIBA web site. I put the upgrade, so I started.

The first step was to upgrade the BIOS. My U200 had BIOS version 1.40 installed, and I flashed the computer with version 3.40 available in time on the Web from Toshiba website. I installed the new hard drive and started a new installation of Windows Vista.

The installation went smoothly. I upgraded to Vista with the patches required to MS and installed all Toshiba drivers and applications in the recommended order.
It was weird that the Toshiba web site had the drivers for Atheros WLAN card, while the U200 uses the Intel 3945ABG. I skipped installing these drivers. Today, I see that they have been removed from the web site. Good shot, indeed, Toshiba.

The first thing that I noticed that the ConfigFree and Intel Proset application have been crippled, if compared to those that are available on Windows XP. The ConfigFree Radar, for example, showed that the WiFi network name, not the single Access Points. Intel Proset was not showing the name of Access Points. It's ok - when a WiFi network has only one access point, but the majority of WiFi networks has several access points...

I learned that it is because Windows Vista manages directly, roaming access points while under XP, this operation has been completed the network adapter and its driver.
Since all software WiFi for XP (Netstubler's) work doesn t under Vista, the only way I was able to locate access points was by typing a command netsh prompt.
In my view, that Toshiba should redouble their efforts on their new software WiFi for Vista.

I was also confronted with other issues, but those issues Vista and not Toshiba. I want to only quote the new Vista network discovery protocol, the NTLM 2, which is incompatible with existing network resources like XP - 2 K based computers and Linux - NAS function. Editing the registry shown on MS Technet for that matter, t has failed. If all goes well, a MS Service Pack, in the future, may solve this problem of backward compatibility.

I also noticed that the Toshiba power management utility had become a subset of Vista power management, it was more than the very neat screen that I liked a lot. In addition, the default value of mapped Windows Vista power button suspends - and not offshore.

Next - I noted that the Fn buttons didn't work unless Toshiba Flash Cards have been loaded and activated. I didn t like Flash cards, because they use a huge 50 MB of RAM. This problem has been resolved with a different BIOS upgrade to version 3.50, I found on the Web from Toshiba site.

Then I started to use the computer. I loved the Aero Interface and the robustness of Vista. I had to disable user account control, since then has been a little too much security, at least for me.
Then using the computer on battery power, closed the lid, and computer is spent in standby mode. Later, I opened the lid and started working again.
Here, I realized something was wrong. To make a long story short:
    1. after suspend and resume, the computer will turn off more.
    2. after him suspend and resume, battery life has been reduced.

It didn't take much to realize it was a BIOS problem. I did a clean reinstall of Vista and the problem remained. I had to physically turn off the computer with the hardware button, because it does not turn off when asked so, but only after an interruption.

At this point, I put in the old hard drive with Windows XP. The computer started fine, any recognition of the fingerprint was extinguished.
BIOS upgrades kill association of OS fingerprints, even if doesn't erase the fingerprints of the probe, information stored fingerprints are no longer usable which is from a pint of view security.
Then, I closed the lid of the computer, and he went to suspend. In XP, the computer with BIOS version 3.50 would not again. It would be rather reset and Windows XP was perform a restart of the recovery thereafter. The Bluetooth radio has been messed up on every reboot.

At this point, my U200 was not usable on Vista and XP. Toshiba Europe web site doesn't allow you to download of old BIOS, neither Toshiba offers a utility to save the old BIOS before flashing a new. I was ready to send to the home computer.

Fortunately enough, I found BIOS version 1.40 on the Toshiba US website. It was not exactly the same as I had before because it showed a generic start-up Logo Intel, while my original BIOS showed the Centrino Duo logo. The version and date were OK, and I flashed the BIOS on my computer. He went everything is OK

With BIOS version 1.40, Windows XP worked perfectly as before. Under Vista, the computer turning off after an interruption / resumption.
The Fn buttons work properly even with loaded flash cards with BIOS version 1.40 under Vista, the brightness of the screen was not controllable - even from the utility to save energy.

At this point, I left 1.40 BIOS and XP on my computer. I'll wait for Toshiba release a compatible BIOS back and the MS to release a Service Pack or a hotfix for the problem network.

At the end of the story, I would like to add a few comments.
I saw the sale the new U200 with Windows Vista preinstalled Toshiba. The new U200 has a Core 2 Duo processor, so I guess that the motherboard will be somewhat up-to-date.
I put t have a new U200, but I think that this new version doesn t suffer from the issue of suspension-recovery.
If anyone from Toshiba is reading this post, I would like to be sent by electronic mail to the original version of 1.40 BIOS that was installed at the factory on my machine, I mean the BIOS showing the Centrino Duo logo colorful start. My email is: antonio.maglione15 (at) libero (dot) it
Also, I ask Toshiba for check the BIOS version 3.50 on an older U200 with processor Core Duo and provide to the public a compatible version back from the BIOS.

    Kind regards

    ROME (Italy)

    Dear Antonio

Thanks for you long interesting history.
As you probably know not this forum is just a user-forum user and I'm afraid that you won't find anyone from Toshiba here m.
Anyway, as you said on the Toshiba page you will find only the latest version of the BIOS and the older versions are not available. This real s. Several months ago, I tried an older version of BIOS for my laptop but without to succeed.
A hint; The authorized service provider may downgrade the laptop to the old version.

In any case, I guess many Vista tools and utilities that are on the market are in a first time and updates might solve some strange behaviors.
I noticed that the BIOS updates are published from time to time. Maybe the next update of the BIOS will provide some improvements.

PS; Don't download and install the BIOS from other sources. European portable computers to use the BIOS from the Web of Toshiba Europe site!

    Hey Buddy,

    Hello

At first, I have to say that I believe you have Satellite Pro, but not satellite model. So the question is: have you really downloaded material for your laptop model.
As I see you have Satellite Pro U200 with model PLUA1E number. Right?

In any case, on the Toshiba download page there not many things that must be installed for Vista. I just hope that you have installed all in the order of good facilities.
Please try to restart Flash cards one again. You can do this at the start > all programs > Toshiba > utilities > restart flash cards.

  • How to get the best connectivity WLan on Satellite U200

I wonder if everyone is disappointed by the scope of the U200 wireless.

I always find that my laptop shows 2 bars for their my BT hub (on the floor) when my eeepc located beside the laptop displays 5.

I also found in other places that my partners laptop detects wireless networks much more that I do.

I would prefer to explore the possibility of increasing my wireless connection before moving my BT hub to give me a better reception. being able to find the hub with my laptop wherever I am at home (like my partners)

    Anyone got any ideas please?

OK, a few points of view but no ideas... I've now experimented with an external wireless adapter

I have a toshiba satellite pro u200 with built in WiFi. I have also 2 adsl providers in the House (one is cancelled as soon as I am happy with the new - but I'll take the opportunity to experiment at the mo to try to resolve some problems)

I have a wireless router in my office (the service of Virgin Media 2 MB - VM), the other is upstairs (BTHomehub 8 mb - BT)

Using the built-in tosh Wireless adapt if I'm sitting 2 laptops side by side on my desk both pick up VM 100%. (tosh and eeepc)-c' is the case that the router slot in the Office!

If I'm sitting the same 2 latops on my desk and get them to connect to BT, the onlys tosh gives 2 bars, the eeepc 100%. (by bars, I mean view available networks - see 5 bars to show the strength of connection)

If I then plug an external 108Mbps Netgear WG111T Wireless USB 2.0 for the tosh connection adapter improves to 4 bars.

can I do the built in WiFi on the tosh to improve things or am I better to use an external adapter. If I use the outside how tosh knows which adapter to use? as I have the switch wireless to the position we don't if this activate the integrated?

Allow the pc show the network show the icon when connected and can see the speed to 54Mbps - whatever that means?

shouldn't I expect to see 108 Mbit/s if that's what the external netgear is capable of?
