Unable to connect to / as sysdba

I see a lot of code examples and code snippets where people are connecting to / as sysdba. I've never been able to connect to. The only thing that worked for me was conn sys/password@foo as sysdba. Can someone enlighten me as to what "/" is and why I could not be able to connect to it? Should I be concerned?

CaptainPackers

Have you checked the user with whom you are done sqlplus connection part of the ORADBA group who is the owner of your binary oracle (the user who installed the Oracle software)?

You do not make use of authentication of the OS and that is why you will need to provide a password when connecting as sys.

You can learn more about the OS in the Oracle Documentation authentication - Tahiti

    Thank you.

You try to use the OS authentication to connect to the database. It is disabled. to connect to the database, you will need to login as "sys as sysdba" and provide the password.

to do this, check your file sqlnet.ora for the sqlnet.authentication_services parameter

As another reviewer said Oracle 12 c requires SERVICE_NAME and no SID to connect to the PDB files.

    http://www.Oracle.com/technetwork/articles/database/multitenant-part1-PDBs-2193987.html

What is a database of the container

So, what is the big advantage in this configuration, you may ask? Couldn't we have just created several ordinary vanilla instead of several PDB databases? Yes, we could have; but each of these 'plain vanilla' databases would have then his own load of instance (process and memory). PDB do not have an instance associated with them, eliminating this overload. Let's look at the installer with an example. Suppose you have a CBD (database container - the real database that hosts the other PDB files) called CONA, who has a calledPDB1 of the PDB. If you check the Oracle instance, you will see that there is one - that of the CBD. First, let's check the ORACLE_SID:

    [oracle@prosrv1 ~]$ echo $ORACLE_SID CONA

That's all. There is only a single SID; not one for each PDB. Then we will check the process, especially very important that known as 'pmon ":

See this last sentence above? See this line in the status of listening port you have posted?

    Service "Pdb1" has 1 instance (s).

Pdb1 has a 'service' - a SERVICE_NAME allows to connect to him and all other PDB files.

  • Unable to connect to the database when installing BI EE 11 g

I want to install Oracle BI Enterprise Edition 11g Windows XP service pack 3.
I used successfully of the repository creation tool to create the schema DEV_BIPLATFORM.

Then I ran the main installation of Oracle BI program.
"To halfway through the stage of" details of the database "requires the connection string, the user name and the password.
I enter in these exactly as they should be, but still get the error:
INST-08029: unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.

The details that I use are:
    connection string: ltest2:1521:dwRialto
    username: DEV_BIPLATFORM
    password: DEV_BIPLATFORM
where ltest2 is a Linux SS5 host running Oracle 11.1.0.6 EE. The service name is dwRialto.

Physical connectivity is definitely ok, as evidenced by the fact that I get error 'INST-08035' if I change the name of the service for something not valid. Also, I get a different error, 'INST-08031' if I change the user name or password to something invalid. I have also granted SYSDBA and DBA DEV_BIPLATFORM, but still does not work.

In addition, to be sure, I installed and executed on the same Windows PC SQLDeveloper - and that works very well, using the same credentials.

Why the 11g BI Setup does not accept these credentials? I can't further with the installation until it does.

    Hello
We had the same problem an hour ago
What we did was drop the user through the official way to the rcu, re-create the user but this time with a different password (in our case, so DEV_BIPLATFORM/oracle)
and then we continued without problem :)

    Good luck

In 10g, listener can dynamically register a database. In your server listener.ora file you did manually. A particular reason for that?
What is the result of lsnrctl status on the server where this testdb? You see service testdb in the summary?

The phone is connected to the internet (I can surf and send emails) by wifi. Turn off the wifi and the use of mobile (cellular) only link cause the same error. I also did a reboot hot and cold, without result.

  • Unable to connect on the Messages or FaceTime after upgrading to Sierra

Good afternoon! After upgrading my MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010) to macOS Sierra (10.12.), I am unable to connect to Messages or FaceTime. They worked fine before the upgrade.

    • Messages: After entering my Apple ID and password, I get the message "Could not sign in iMessage." "Could not sign. Please check your network connection and try again. "or"an error has occurred during authentication. "My network is connected to the network (where this message), and the password is correct. Also, I have generated a password app specific to Messages. Enter just grew the message "your Apple ID or the password is incorrect." Messages is works well with my Google Talk and AIM accounts.
    • FaceTime: After entering my Apple ID and password, the engine just turns and it never connects me. Similarly, I have generated a password app specific but use it just gets the message, "your Apple ID or the password is incorrect."

No idea how I can regain access to these applications? Thank you!

Reached out to the Twitter account of Apple Support. He proposed to restart. It worked.
