Unable to file to rename or delete files

I can't the files to rename or delete files in the pictures folder.

Property sheets I have all the rights (I am administrator).  When I try to delete, it apparently works and things is in the trash.  Even after the deletion of the Recycle Bin, a few hours later the folders and files are back again.  Rename simply translates into a duplicate folder.

I now have about 40 GB of duplicate stuff that I can't get rid of.  I am a serious amateur photographer and this problem really begins to pain - by using the internal drive at a rapid pace;  the close also backup drives.

I think the issue may have something to do with copying a 'Pictures' folder from a USB on the hot folder on the hard disk.  This USB key is now offline and offsite as a backup

Alaa (WhizKid) and with your help, the problem is resolved.  Arrived to think of my comment above and had the Epiphany.  Now I feel really stupid, happy, but stupid.  Problem was that SecondCopy (one of my backup programs that runs automatically) due to an action that synchronized the folder with a backup disk every three hours.  Removed action and the problem at the same time.

Thanks again.

I use Carbon Copy Cloner to backup over a year with no problems.  She always did exactly what I expect from him and I don't know how it is related to this problem, but it is the program that revealed the problem.

I ran a CCC backup tonight, and for the first time, I got a message saying that it had been a mistake.  I watched the news and he said that a mistake had occurred during the transfer of a file.  The file is buried several folders deep on my desktop and so far it was still named "10/12/94.  However, the file has now acquired the name "10/12/94␀ [email protected] ␀Re 4 '-it now contains special characters and it may contain invisible special characters as well.  (Note that the file is a text file of email, so the "[email protected]" in the corrupted name is probably the beginning of the e-mail address of a message in the file).

I don't know what caused the change of name - if just CCC discovered or that it caused the problem.  I ran my last backup 6 days without any problem, and I not did something weird to my computer since then.  The file that causes the problem is that I haven't looked over the years, and I was not in four or five levels of this Bank, since I copied it on my computer from my old laptop.

I tried to delete the file from the finder, and I get a message that "the operation cannot be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code - 50)."  I tried to rename the file from the finder, and any new name I type, I get a message that the name cannot be used.

I also tried all of these options of deletion on the record encompassing both, and they all fail in this case.

I ran disk on the drive utility and it found no error.  I also ran check disk of Onyx and it found no error.

I tried a variety of Google search terms and I have tried many different suggestions that came, but nothing has worked.

Anyone have an idea how I can rename or delete this file?  After performing backup of tonight I have it now on my laptop and my support.

    Thank you.

Have you tried to change the protection on the file? This can be done from the finder with "Get Info" or from the command-line if you are savvy of Unix. Give you access to R + W and try to rename or to delete again, you choose.

In addition, if the file is located on the boot disk, boot from the recovery partition and run the tool again to drive from there.

  • What is the use of the file winsxS\Policies if we can rename or delete arbitrary?

The solution proposed by Snave_Nivek for a NET problem was:

Rename %windir%\winsxS\Policies (or remove) and then reinstall .NET.

Which will not affect other programs? What is the use of the file winsxS\Policies if we can rename or delete arbitrary?

    Hello

The point behind rename/remove the policies folder is to eliminate the possibility of corrupted files. Once deleted/renamed, the folder is recreated.

However, note that renaming/deleting is not applicable to all records.

  • Error: "Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you try to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the element can point to a file that has been moved, renamed or deleted'

Original title: laptop won't read the music files stored on external hard drive

I have an old Compaq laptop Windows XP, so it was out of memory I transferred everything on a Portable Seagate (500 GB) hard drive and started to access it. It's worked well for over a year, but lately, began to stop playing my music files. Absolutely everything on the hard drive opens, however, images, files and folders, but when I go into Windows Media Player, it pops up with this error message:

Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you try to read, burn or sync an item that is in your library, the element can point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted.
I have not modified parameters or anything that moved. I used to be just able to restart the laptop, or disconnect and reconnect the hard drive and it works again, but now it or not will be not at all, or it will cut off half way through a song and then not to play anything more.
I can't find any support for this problem because the phone reads that the hard drive is there, and everything else works. Only the music doesn't. I tried to play music on a connected USB and it works fine. I'm so confused!

I use to be able to display up to a few weeks before. the message is - Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you try to read, burn or sync an item that is in your library, the element can point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted.

    Hi fredleon,

    · What is the email client or webmail you are using?

    · What is the attachment file extension?

    · How do you open the attachment?

    · Is it by double-clicking or you choose open with option.

    a. save the attachment to the office,

    b. right-click on the file and select open with the option to open the attachment according to their file extension.

Example: If the .docx file extension, then it is word document or .pdf, it's Adobe.

You can get the extension of a file by right clicking on the file and go to properties
