Unable to start Outlook Express

I've not had problems before with OE. Yesterday, I got msg that OE could not be started. Cannot open the OE store. Computer may be out of memory or the disk is full.  ox800co12E5.

2nd msg: could not start cold msoe.ddl because one can not be established.  This module is here.

The OE module is locked. I can not even move or access the AddressBook to move in Outlook

I think that my OE has been corrupted. I can't find a stand-alone OE software down load. I reinstalled Internet explorer 8, but who has not corrected the problem of EO. At this point I don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

PS; I have a lot of memory and my disk is not full.

It does not mention the address book load failed to?

    Original title: dbx file

    You try to remove Folders.dbx?

In Windows XP, the files of user OE (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

The path to the message will be very similar to this:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

With OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    Note these possible side effects:

When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. However, understand that you will lose the mail directory structure and message rules will probably have to be edited.
  • Hi, I'm unable to install Outlook Express. Can someone help me? I have installed Win7

Hi, I'm unable to install Outlook Express. Can someone help me? I have installed Win7

    There is nothing to install...

    Outlook.com is a FREE web-based program.
It is NOT installed on your computer.
Access you it through your browser.

  • Why the windows installer opens whenever I start Outlook Express?

Why is open MSI whenever I start Outlook Express, the only way to kill this process via ctrl/alt/del, when I try to stop the process also kills outlook.

Often, it's because she's trying to install the auditor spelling or similar components.  Try going to tools | Options | Spelling and uncheck the option to always check the spelling and see if that fixes it.

  • five out of six times (approximately) to start outlook express 6, it crashes while trying to access the first message

five out of six times (approximately) to start outlook express 6, it crashes while trying to access the first message. This happens several times, and each time the first message (even) appears in the Inbox, even if the process is not complete. sometimes clear the cache, or cleaning IE temp. the files seems to help - but not always.

    It's VERY frustrating!

    Do a household.

1: do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

2: after you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

3: disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

For some programs, turning it off is not enough. You may need to uninstall and reinstall in custom Mode and remove the analysis when e-mail messages.

Why do you not want to do?

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it?
    http://www.insideoe.com/FAQs/why.htm#compact

    On the Corruption of files
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx

Compacting your folders periodically is a must to keep OE works fine and at some point, you may lose all your saved messages if you do not. When you delete or move messages, the space they used remains until you compact.

Never touch anything until the compression is finished.* *.

    See:
    www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2

With SP2, Automatic compaction in the background has been removed because of problems he has caused. Now, you will get a prompt to compact after 100 closures of OE, you need to do, and do not touch anything until it's finished. If you compact manually, at your convenience, this will also set the counter to zero. See this for more information:
    http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm#compact

If you are fully patched, you will now see a copy of your dbx files copied to the Recycle Bin as BAK files. If something goes wrong when compacting, the messages can be easily restored from this backup. A compact manual resets also the counter in the back of the registry to zero now.

For more information, see the information framed in red here:
    www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2

To keep things running smooth and harden faster:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. It will eventually become corrupt and you may lose mail. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

    And backup often.

  • e-mail does not appear when you start outlook express/is accessible only when iI click on Inbox in the folder list.

I use Windows XPO professional and Outlook Express 6.

Otherwise, how do you mean "emails should display"?  I don't understand the problem then.  What do you expect when you start OE?

If it is not directly in the Inbox, you can have corruption and you can go to file | Identities and setup a new identity.  Then see if it works.

  • Receive window false error when starting outlook express.

Made the mistake of opening a link in an email from fake USPS concerning the receipt of a registered letter.

Since that time, McAfee detected and apparently removed a virus.

However, I keep getting an indication false error (i.e. standard Windows error window) whenever I have start to ANY e-mail system (Outlook Express, Hotmail, etc.).

If I click 'Send' or 'do not send' in the error window gets wrong, put an end to the mail session.

If I do NOT click 'Send' or 'do not send' and just ignore the false error, I use Outlook Express, Hotmail, etc. without problem.  I finally shut the program email normally and THEN click 'do not send' get rid of the fake error window.

Associated with this problem is the fact that rundll32.exe is CONTINUALLY running.  I checked the rundll32.exe in the Windows directory and it seems to be the right size.  However, there are a couple of suspicious ".pf" extensions that are not the same size.

The false error window is named "dwwin.exe" and the error is 'unknown' or 'wsort32.exe' in the error report.  I'm not sure of the last name, however.

    Hello
I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps:

Method 1: Try to scan your hard disk from the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Method 2: Also I suggest that you update the latest version of McAfee software.

    http://www.McAfee.com/us/McAfee-Labs/resources/security-updates.aspx

Method 3: Troubleshooting error messages that you receive when you try to send and receive e-mail in Outlook and Outlook Express:

Outlook Express is not available for and does not work on Windows 7.

The alternative is Windows Live Mail, which can import your Outlook Express data. See http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mail.

You may prefer one of the other free e-mail clients, such as Mozilla Thunderbird.

Also, I tried to 'fix' OE as indicate support of Microsoft Outlook Express.  It lists the 4 files which should registered bere.  No problem with the 3.  The 4th, regsvr32 mshtml.dll, makes me a message error "DllRegisterServer entry point not found...". "Any suggestions on what I need to do to fix this?

Before you try to open OE, right-click on the taskbar and see if she, or msimn.exe is running. If this isn't the case, it is probably corrupted Folders.dbx.
