unavailable library import

Latest running LR on Win 7 CC - has never been a problem but now can't access the button import library Import or file > Import Photos and videos - both in gray.

Have restarted LR, rebooted, started a file different lrcat etc - no luck.

I am a certified Adobe Expert from LR, have trained many people, never came through myself or with a customer - really appreciate all the help I'm dead in the water if I can't import!

Thanks in advance,

Rebecca

Hi redebecca,

Have tried to reset the Lightroom preferences to default.

Reference: preference file and other files. Lightroom CC and 6

Let us know if that helps.

  • Passage to Lr of opening with a Managed library import question.

    Greetings,

First post. Finally switch from Aperture and have been reading up on top of the details of how. I have a library managed on Aperture and know that Lightroom has only referenced option. I have to first of all (in opening) change my library referenced before importing in Lightroom, or can I simply import and Lightroom will handle the rest? In hope and try to make my library structure with respect to 'projects' and the transfer in the same way as possible, so any advice on how to get there would be much appreciated as well.

Am came across some good info online, but sometimes too much info makes things a bit confusing to me because I'm not a computer guy. What I've done so far (in opening) after having made sure that everything is saved is to write metadata to the originals (metadata > write IPTC) and provides import my list of keywords to open in Lightroom. What I've read, the Lightroom to import from Aperture plugin will take care of the rest.

For various reasons, I'm very happy to leave open and am looking forward to learning and using Lightroom.

Do, but there are benefits to the evolution of your library referenced before importing in Lightroom.

One is the disk space. Lightroom makes copies of all managed photos and puts them in date-based folders, so you would need to double the disk space. With photos of referenced, the default is to make copies - but there is an option for Lightroom to use the originals in their referenced locations. See http://lightroomsolutions.com/articles/migrating-from-aperture-to-lightroom-where-do-i-beg in / for more information on this important option.

A second advantage, somehow, is that it allows to preserve your existing folder structure - which can be per project, if that's how you reorganized into opening. However, in the framework of the Lightroom import process results in projects Aperture Lightroom collections. So do you need really focused on projects of files? Records are a rather brutal way of categorizing photos, after all.

So the main advantage is the space, and I recommend that you spend as an option a referenced library opening and use Lightroom to import photos at their original location.

Is there no way to import my CC library .ai file draw Adobe?

    Hi Brad,

At the present time, draw only works one way... from a mobile desktop phone. Thus, there is no way to import an .ai file. I'm sorry.

  • Where is the iPhoto library import addon

I'm trying to import my iPhoto library in Lightroom 5.7.  I can't locate the plugin that was supposed to be released in October last to facilitate this. Adobe research lead to no results.

    Dear Wilhelmina

I think the product you are looking for is the opening. You can find it here: https://creative.adobe.com/addons/patches/5117 although if you have upgraded to the latest version of Lightroom, it comes as standard.

  • Nikon D750 NAVE preview unavailable when importing in Lightroom 3. [was: nave overview not available]

I'm shooting with I have Nikon D750 and I use Lightroom 3.  When I try to download a raw (nef) file, it says preview not available, rather than show me a preview image.  I tried a number of updates and still can't make it work.

The D750 must have Lightroom 5.7 or later, to be able to read the raw data from the NAVE D750 images. Any update V3 is not.

    You have two choices-

    1. buy the update of Lightroom 6.5 or subscribe to Creative Cloud Lr - CC2015.5. (Note: be aware that LR 6.5 requires a 64-bit machine.)

    2. stay with v3 and the Adobe's DNG Converter allows you to edit your raw DNG files NEF files, and then import the DNG.

  • I created a new library of more new playlists but cannot find the Library.xml file

    Hello

I'm going to re - build my iTunes files from scratch, a kind of decennial event 'spring clean '. I have created a new library by using the command, click on application startup, and then began to rebuild new reading lists in the application. I can see the folder newly created the library that contains the new "iTunes Library.itl" file BUT I don't see that the iTunes Music Library.xml file. " There certainly must be one to save the data of the playlist, and probably "Get Info" should reflect today date' today... I don't see older versions.

Although everything seems to work perfectly I don't want to have to re - visit the construction of Playlists from scratch for the next ten years! Can anyone suggest what happened to the .xml file?

    Thanks and greetings

You can create an .xml on iTunes/file/library/Export library file and gives you the opportunity to put the Library.xml file in your iTunes Media folder - or anywhere you like.

If you need to rebuild your playlists, you can go to iTunes, file, library, import playlist and select the .xml file.

Normally, you do not see the .xml file in your iTunes folder.

  • How to import audio MP3 downloaded iTunes 11.4 (18)?

I downloaded a number of MP3 audio files on the internet about my Macbo to play on the Macbook (OS 10.6.8) and my mini iPod.  However, I can't figure how to get them in my iTunes library.  I first tried selecting file/add to the library, open the file downloaded on my desktop and selecting each one individually, but when I looked into "Songs" in iTunes, they do not appear in my library.  Then I tried/library/import Playlist files and do the same thing, but they do not always appear.  Then I tried to move the desktop folder in music/Amazon MP3 (seemed logical, because they are MP3 files, but not Amazon), but it does not improve.

To make things even more confusing, when I chose to add to the library or selection of importation, rather than add the good songs in iTunes, it added duplicates of some totally independent songs that were already in the iTunes library (neither the song nor the titles of the album any resemblance between them).  Would be very grateful for any suggestions!

Create a blank playlist. Drag files to it. If your files have arrived without labels, it will be obvious.  Remember when he made this way iTunes makes a copy of the file in the folder of appropriate support.

Alternatively, you can place the files in the folder automatically add to iTunes. Rejects all the iTunes files will be put in a rejected folder. Others will be added, and should appear at the top of the list of added reading recently.

iTunes 9: understanding the "Automatically add to iTunes" folder - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3832 - files placed in this folder are actually moved from this folder to the correct location in the iTunes Media folder.

  • Incomplete import of music in iTunes

I just finished all my my CD library import music to iTunes 12.3.2 64-bit on my Macbook Pro.  The whole process takes about three days. I was very pleased when he did. all imported and was organized by the artist and the title of the album.

    Now for the problem...

I have a few music files in a folder that come from sources other than the CD. They are in the WMA format, and I can click on them and play without any problems.  However, when I try to add them to iTunes, nothing happens. I know this isn't the WMA format as other media that I imported is transformed without problem.

I read the other posts on this issue and tried the solutions without success. I thought that the problem could be the source of music (download torrent), but only some of these files are not importing, not all.

Why only some of these files can be imported into iTunes?  I have "add to iTunes library checked in preferences and tried to"Refresh"the library after manually move the folder with the music in question to the iTunes library manually by pressing the OPTION DOWN during the startup of iTunes without success."

    Thank you in advance.

I don't know why one of your WMA files are important. iTunes for Mac will play all files in the WMA format. iTunes for Windows will work. iTunes for Windows can also convert Mac playback formats but iTunes for Mac cannot. No Apple software it won't play unless you have Flip4Mac installed (you don't say do you) and then it will play in Quicktime Player. Flip4Mac only converts it to an iTunes for Mac playable format if you have the version special payware. Third-party software (such as VLC) may play, but you make no mention of this.  So far none of this makes sense to me.

  • Hello! If I icloud library disabled, will be always saved pictures? I know that your backup stores the photo library of all devices and because I'm not all devices to be synchronized I think I'm safe and won't lose my pictures/videos. Right?

Hello! If I icloud library disabled, will be always saved pictures? I know that your backup stores the photo library of all devices and because I'm not all devices to be synchronized I think I'm safe and won't lose my pictures/videos. Can someone please clarify?

If you want your photos backed up, you must import them into the photos on the computer application that synchronize you with. iCloud photo library is a repository for all the photos for a given iCloud ID. However, it is not required for the care of your photos. I do not use iCloud photo library - import my photos into the library of Photos on my Mac.

A backup of your device iCloud will save your current film, but if you remove anything from this film, then it will not be available for retrieval at a later date, because backups replace the previous backup version. A backup is so not an archive safe for your photos or videos.

Photo stream keeps the last 30 days or 1000 photos taken with your camera if you have Photo Stream on, but once again, it's a temporary storage that gets crushed. Photo stream is intended to provide a method of sharing photos between the signed devices on the same iCloud account, but is not intended as an archive.

Import your pictures and videos on a computer means that all photos and videos are kept in a library on your computer and will be accessible. It is the only safe way to archive your photos:

    PHOTO IMPORT IOS ON MAC/PC

  • Export the selection to another library

How to export a playlist from my library of music of Christmas to my main iTunes library. If I select the Playlist Playlist/file/library/Export, everything seems to be able to do is export to a text file.

My iPhone is synced to my main iTunes library. I don't want to sync with my library of Christmas and loosing what I have synced the main library.

    Any help appreciated.

    Hi there joe Gramm,

Looks like you want to export a playlist and songs in the playlist to copy on your main iTunes library. There currently not automatically a way to achieve, therefore, export the files manually. Fortunately, the process is quite easy.

    1. export the playlist you used in a (preferably empty) folder on the desktop

    2. in your Christmas library to open the playlist

    3. click on Edition > select all to select all of the content in the playlist

    4. drag items highlighted with the playlist file to copy

    5. open your main library

6 import your playlist (file > library > Import Playlist)

    7. then import your music in the folder that you faced them with file > add to library

Who should add the playlist and songs, so that you can synchronize with your phone. Thank you for using communities of Apple Support, happy holidays!

  • An api imported USB does not work correctly

    Hello everyone,

I am currently using LabVIEW to communicate with a USB device and I had to import an api USB I bought. With VC ++ this api works well, but LabVIEW has its problems.

First of all, I imported through Tools > Import > Library (DLL), chose the DLL and the corresponding and any Headerfile which worked without problems. Now I got my 14 VI, one for each function declared in the DLL.

It is, most of these functions will not properly work, or maybe I just don't understand their right or give them the wrong settings. I will attach a screenshot of the 'GetList.vi', which should return a list of all connected USB devices.

My guess is that the defined pList could be a problem because it must contain the char, int etc but as you can see in the screenshot, contains only numbers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Kind regards

    Pedro

EDIT: Here's the description of the documentation of the api USB GetList method:

    GetList)
This function searches the system for USB HID devices and generates a list of these devices and their availability.  The caller must provide a pointer to a buffer that will contain the list of entries of the structure.  Must also provide an integer representing the maximum number. entries may contain the buffer.  Returns the total number stored.

    int CUsbHidApi::GetList)
    unsigned int VendorID,
    unsigned int ProductID,
    char * manufacturer.
    char * SerialNum,.
    char * DeviceName,.
    mdeviceList * pList.
    (int nMaxDevices);

    Description of the settings:

VendorID / / Vendor ID search (0xffff if not used)
ProductID / / product ID of research (0xffff if not used)
Constructor / / manufacturer (NULL if not used)
SerialNum / / serial number to search for (NULL if not used)
DeviceName / / name of the search tool (NULL if not used)
pList / / table of the appellant for the storage devices
nMaxDevices / / size of the ArrayList to the appellant (no.entries)

    smercurio_fc wrote:

When I posted response you has not yet posted any header file, so I did not see the header that you posted 2 minutes after my answer. In view of the header, you should be able to call these functions. However, the pList parameter is a pointer to a structure that contains variable length strings. This isn't something that you can easily manage, and such a question was discussed several times on this forum. When you get to this level of complexity in terms of parameter data types, you will need to write a wrapper DLL so that the types of data between LabVIEW and the DLL are simple data types only.

In fact the code created byt the library import wizard handles pointers of varying sizes correctly for an item in the structure, so nMaxDevices must never be placed in anything else but 1.

It is also not entirely clear if manufacturer, DeviceName and SerialNum always are inputs to the function or not, but I guess they are. A problem here is that the DLL function expects a NULL pointer if it must ignore the string parameter according and not only a string empty, so you will probably need to create call several nodes of the library with the configuration of the various parameters to ignore one or more of these settings.

The data type of mDeviceList which had been initially used by the library with a fixed size of embedded strings would have been a little bit more efficient to implement in LabVIEW but always a PITA too.

I can only recognize smercurios statement that this type of API is absolutely better managed with a wrapper DLL. While it is not impossible to do it entirely in LabVIEW, it is more than the import library Wizard can eventually handle automatically and doesn't require so some stunts of advanced in the LabVIEW diagram memory pointer that must be done manually. Something which is not really run by a person without some serious C programming knowledge, but this person is clearly going for the wrapper DLL solution because it is much easier to manage than to do everything in a LabVIEW diagram by hand.
