  Question: Were all really compelling long-doc facilities added summer making an upgrade to Acrobat 9 Pro from my current IDCS3 and Acrobat 7 Pro and IDCS5 really all that attractive?

  Or if the upgrade will give me only what I'll never use all being perhaps is full of new headaches I had never dreamed. (I heard for example, there have been problems to import very long Word documents).

  OK, some optional information and slightly superfluous reading:

  I'm about to dive back into another series of several languages, complex, note-heavy, long docs, text only books up to 800 pages, not unlike the ten I published with IDCS3 2 years (kalavinkapress.org).

  What I'm looking for? :

  (a) wonderful ability to styles perfectly round trip, paragraph and character intact, in and out of: 1) PDF. and (2) Word.

  (b) great ability to record whole books or chapters in the ID files in all formats necessary electronic books and web pages, easily readable on any portable devices without screwing the Sanskrit diacritical and signs of Chinese characters in the output file.

  (d) Notes, too. (Not only the end notes I use.) i.e. I want to have two references and endnotes.

  Grep/line styles:

  I think that the addition of Grep, and styles the styles of line for CS4 and CS5 is defintely worth change if you enter in their use.

  For example, on a 300-page book, I need the start a sentence that had a full colon after it is "BOLD".

  Although I get a lot of slow down on several pages using this featute and it may even cause my computer crash - so I have no-span/split columns before making edits and reapply them.

  Background tasks:

  If you've never posted in PDF format a manual of 1 200 pages with lots of diagrams and images you know that it takes a long time to complete.

  Now CS5 introduces the PDF export in the background (under window > utilities > background tasks) and a small indicator on the title bar to illustrate a background task is currently running.

  This means that you can continue on other projects while the PDF file is made. Without more to wait 5 or 10 minutes to get a PDF output.

  The problem with background tasks

  It does not work with the book panel. If you do long documents this feature is useless for you. Where you really need it is a background task to save you time (where time = money) then background tasks is an unfinished addition to CS5.

  Acrobat:

  I did not really any great advantage to move from Acro 7-Acro 9 although - for long text doctors.

  Is it worth? I don't know - there are a lot of neat features. If you're constantly waiting for a PDF file to export and that cost you time (where time = money) then this is definitely worth (less the number of the book panel).

• How can I print my form with long text?

  I created a form in Adobe Acrobat 9 with text fields to fill out.  Some of our users need to print the form after completion and my form creates Ahmed bars to read the text that is long and extends beyond the text box.  How to change the form where all of the text will be printed?  The text box just should be bigger or is there a function I can edit on the original document to enable this?  I read in another post that it can be fixed in Acrobat, but it didn't say how to fix.

  You can make the largest field, the smaller font, or set the font size as auto (in addition to the deselection of the option 'Scroll long text'). When the font size is set to Auto, it will automatically drop in size, with a minimum area of 4, in an attempt to display any entered text.

  I tried to put each line of the form for amounts of specificity so that it ends at some point and does not change the text size to fit on the line but different key characters have different widths, so you do not get a length of the same line.

  I tried to remove the long text scrolling, but it changed nothing.

  I can create a text box great to fill out and have this scrolling of additional lines, but then I get too much information from people and I would need to clarify the lines behind the answer multi line text, or delete the lines...

  Is there a better solution?

  I usually just remove the lines and set the field "Does not scroll long text" so that all the text is visible. Including the lines is really only useful if the form may be printed and completed by hand, in which case you can use scripts as in this example is: http://acroscript.net/pdf/demos/multiLine_Demo1.pdf

  It works as expected in Acrobat/Reader, but not in Chrome and other PDF viewers who have little or no support for JavaScript. It uses scripts customized to validate on Focus and blur.

  Looks like you're pressing too long. Try typing instead of pressing and holding the place where you try to stick.

  It is only possible if the time text is also part of a text field, preferably the same one. You can use a format or script validation to automatically add this custom text to text from the user, assuming that it is a fixed value or you can know in advance. If it is a value entered by the user, then it becomes almost impossible to do it gently.

The problem is that sometimes people will type more than I have size on the text box in the form.   You will need to rearrange your form and subforms so that they can be moved accordingly.

  The parent subform that you put the textField object must be defined as Flowed as well as the first.

  I am currently using labels to display all the text in my application, and it can be very slow to load long passages of text.

  The text of loading consists of many operations += (it loads verse by verse of a XML file).  I know that if you use TextFields, you must use .append for better performance.  Am I is slowed down because there is no command adding labels?  Should you opt for using flash.text.TextField rather for better performance?

  I just tested and replaced my two fields of label with TextFields and use .appendText instead of +=.  Improving the performance I received was amazing!  By loading the long text passage (Psalm 119 of the bible for reference), the loading time has fallen more than 10 seconds at about 1-2 seconds.  It consists of about 350 operations += replaced by .appendText.

  So, looks like I found my answer.  Using TextFields and appendText is definitely the way to go.

  Finally, if all else fails, run the GREP depending on the text:

  The HTML5 canvas does not natively any kind of text boxes, support scrolling or other.

  If the text that you need to scroll is noninteractive, simply use a mask to simulate a scrolling textfield.

  If the text needs an interactive scroll bar, the easiest way is to, as constantly Flanimate, DOMElement allows to superimpose the real HTML text on the canvas. I already posted the code to do this kind of thing here:

  I think that you have added the text field and you filers or adding default values (more than the size of the text field). You must make sure that the length of the text field is appropriate in order to fit all the text inside. If you enter more text that the size of the field, then the rest of the text would be cut.
