http://blogs.msdn.com/ieinternals/archive/2009/10/10/understanding-data-execution-prevention-crashes-in-IE8.aspx

The problem might actually be an addon or another program causing the problem and you
must verify that 1.

What antivirus/antispyware/security products do you have on the machine? Be one you have
EVER had on this machine, including those you have uninstalled (they leave leftovers behind which)
may cause strange problems).

Start - all programs - Accessores - system tools - IE with no Addons - does this work better?

IE - Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - tab click on restore, and then click Reset - apply / OK

IE - Tools - Internet Options - Security - reset all Zones by default level - apply / OK

not better?

Close IE and try again IE or IE with no Addons

IE - tools - manage Addons (for sure disable SSV2 if she's here, is no longer necessary, but)
Java always install it and it causes problems - you never update Java to go back in and turn it off again.)
Search for other possible problems.

Windows Defender - tools - software explore - look for problems with programs that do not look
right. Allowed are usually OK and "unauthorized" are not always bad. If a doubt
program to ask about it here.

Could be a free - BHOremover - BHO - standalone program, needs no installation, download and
run - not all are bad but some can cause your question. (Toolbars are BHO)
http://securityxploded.com/bhoremover.php

Startup programs
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/79612-startup-programs-enable-disable.html

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and which would be
stands with Prevx running except for a cookie of occasional low level (not a big deal), the update
and then execute it as a scanner.

http://www.Malwarebytes.org/

I would add prevx so.

Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here
or use Google to see how to remove.

If nothing else works you can try this however I would use as a last resort.

I hope this helps.

    Hello

    Please contact Microsoft Community.

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a set of hardware and software technologies that perform additional checks on memory to help prevent malicious code from running on a system. The main advantage of the DEP must help prevent the execution of code from data pages. In general, code is not executed by the default heap and the stack. Hardware DEP detects code that is running from these locations and throws an exception when execution occurs. Software DEP can help prevent malicious code to take advantage of exception-handling mechanisms in Windows.

I suggest a few steps, follow and see if it works:

Method 1: resolution of security issues to launch Internet Explorer.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-SG/Windows7/open-the-Internet-Explorer-safety-Troubleshooter?11341f78

    Method 2:

Run the Microsoft safety scanner and check if your computer is infected with malware.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    I hope this helps.

  • Turn on DEP for all programs or Just essiential

OK, I have windows 8 and my processor supports hardware (Data Execution Prevention) adj. I sorta understand the concept of DEP however not enough to know whether it should be enabled for all programs or all necessary programs or since my processor hardware DEP can I disable DEP Windows?
All the information to help me understand better and an answer would be thank you much.

    Hi Peter,.

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Harmful programs can try to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) authorized the code from the locations of memory system reserved for Windows and other programs. These types of attacks can affect your programs and files.

DEP can help protect your computer by analyzing your programs to make sure that they use the system safely memory. If DEP notices a program on your computer using memory incorrectly, it closes the program and notifies you.

It is not recommended to disable the DEP. DEP automatically monitors essential services and Windows programs. You can increase your protection by having DEP monitor all programs.

First, see if a version compatible DEP for the program is available by visiting the website of the software publisher. If the Publisher has not released an updated, compatible version DEP for the program, you can turn off DEP for the program that was closed. You will be able to use the program, but it might be vulnerable to an attack that could spread to your other programs and files.

If you choose to turn off DEP for a program, it's a good idea to check frequently for an updated version of the program and, after you update, to turn on DEP again.

Let us know the status of the issue. If you need help, please after return. We will be happy to help you.

You are right. If the device has an Intel WLan card you n t need to install Atheros utility and Atheros WLan driver. But you need the Intel WLan driver.
I don t think that the problem is the utility Configfree. In my opinion you should check into the full background due to CPU performance process using Task Manager.

  • Qosmio F30: How-to: Manual Installation of Windows Xp Media Center Edition 2005

Manual installation of Windows Xp Media Center Edition laptop Toshiba Qosmio F30 computer 2005
    Last updated October 3, 2006

    Important notes before starting:

1 - the steps used for "Toshiba Qosmio F30" and for others models Qosmio that comes with "Intel Centrino Duo" Cpu and Xp Media Center 2005 installed.

    2. apply these steps if you have previous experience in the installation of Windows Xp, if you have that experience, then you can use the provided recovery CD to restore your system.

3 - Windows Xp Media Center Cd is not provided with your laptop, if you have the Cd you can purchase from many online shops and in this case you will get the product key valid Windows Xp which you'll not need (because you already have one, you will find in it a small sticker on the back of your laptop and you can activate your Windows with it).
In other words (you need for the first and the second Cd of Windows Xp Mce 2005 SP2 Oem).

    4. do not try to implement these measures on the other Versions of Windows Xp, use "Windows Xp Media Center Edition 2005 Sp2 Oem" only

    5. you must have the Usb floppy drive to install "Toshiba Raid Controller", it can be installed that by having the driver on a floppy disk and pressing F6 during the setup of Windows Xp, if you do not install the Raid driver then will Windows Xp does not recognize your hard drive.

    6 - notice of disclaimer
I don't will not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or allegedly caused by or in connection with the use of this site or its content, including but not limited to delays, omissions and inaccuracies in content.

    Steps to follow:

1 create drivers Cd of "Toshiba help utility", you should see the Toshiba help icon on the desktop, and then in the Toshiba help choose the "protect & difficulty" tab, you will find the Option ' create drivers & tools Cd "and insert a Cd Virgin to write to this
"If this Option did not work, then you must install the restore Cd to get this job", the drivers are installed in a folder called Toolscd in the C:"" drive. To install your recovery Cd Power on your laptop and the "F12" hold and use the arrow keys to select the icon of the CD to boot from the Cd.

    2. create the Toshiba Raid since the driver Cd driver, the Toshiba Raid driver must be added during the Installation of Windows XP when they are asked to "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or Raid Driver".
To do this, insert the Cd of ' Windows' drivers, it will run automatically or Run "Browser.Exe" inside the Cd The 'Raid Driver' and click on Select 'Installation', it will show you the Raid driver files, insert A Blank Floppy and copy the files in The Floppy 'To be sure that all the files be on the root of The Floppy' or to download the Toshiba RAID driver from the Toshiba web page download driver and extract the file zip on a diskette. Yet once, all files must be at the root of the floppy disk not in a folder"

3 - Connect your Usb floppy drive and insert your Cd of Windows Xp Mce 2005 1 turn on your laptop Hold "F12" and use the arrow keys to select the icon of the CD to boot from the Cd.
When you get the Message «Press any key to boot from CD...» ", press a button, if you do not press a key, it does not start from CD-ROM, press F6 when prompt to 'press F6 if you need to install a third party Scsi or Raid Driver".

A if you your Internet through LAN then install the 'network' of the driver Cd driver.
B if you your grace wireless Internet then install the wireless network driver "" of the driver Cd.
C if your Internet via USB then install the driver provided by the manufacturer of your Modem.
D if your Internet through Dial-Up connection and then install the "audio driver" driver CD, this driver will install the audio driver and activate the Modem device and a Message appeared "find new hardware, peripheral Modem" ignores the Message and restart your PC then install "Modem Driver" of the driver Cd.

    8. now, go to the Windows Update Web Site and install all required updates "try to run Windows updates several times until you install all updates, because initially, Web site will updated Windows Installer 3 files only after this restart, your computer and go to the Windows Update Site again and continue to install updates. ", select the custom updates and install all critical and optional updates to date."

9 - install "Common Modules" of the driver CD this module is an essential component on Windows XP systems, it is necessary to other original programming TOSHIBA works correctly.

10 continue to install the other drivers and Utilities CD of drivers, but do not install the drivers following: -.
    Atheros Client Utility "no need".

  • XD - bit (CPU function) disabled/not available for Satellite A100-PSAA9

Last week, I bought the laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-847 (Satellite A100-SPAA9) which has an Intel Core 2 Duo, model T7200.

Specifications Intel, this processor (as all Core and Core 2 processors) has the particularity of XD - bit, known in Windows like DEP. I had the unpleasant surprise to discover that this feature is
reported by Windows as unavailable (in hardware). I got the electronic manual on the recovery CD (which is an edition that is older than the printed manual that comes in the package) that I can do this feature
available (for some older models of Satellite) but I couldn't find any option in my BIOS to do this (my BIOS is made by Phoenix, version 2.0).

I really want to know how to make this feature available/active as my processor socket and so is the operating system purchased with the laptop and more than that, this feature is something beneficial - specially designed for security reasons and supported by all modern processors and operating systems.
What do I have to wait for an updated BIOS include this option (to activate the feature XD bit) or that it is automatically set as active/available (instead of disabled/not available)?

I expect a well documented answer from someone who knows what I'm talking about.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

I know what you're talking about.
Execute Disable Bit (xD-bit) Intel can help prevent certain malicious types of buffer overflow attacks when combined with a compatible operating system.
Disabling malware code procedure is called the extension-> short adj. data protection

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) helps prevent damage from viruses and other security threats that attack by running (executing) malicious code of the locations of memory that Windows and other programs should use. This type of threat causes damage by taking over one or more locations of memory used by a program. Then she spreads and harms other programs, files, and even your email contacts.

Unlike an antivirus program or firewall, DEP does not prevent harmful programs from being installed on your computer. Instead, it monitors your programs to determine if they use the system safely memory. To do this, DEP software works alone or with compatible microprocessors to mark some memory locations as "non-executable".

If a program tries to run malicious code or not a protected location, DEP closed the program and notifies you.
DEP can take advantage of software and hardware support. To use DEP, your computer must be running Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later version, or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later version. Software only DEP helps protect against certain types of malware attacks, but to take full advantage of the protection DEP can offer, your processor must support "execution protection".

The Windows 32 bit (SP2) version supports bit off Execute (xD) so the computer function notebook processor is running in mode of extension (PEA) physical address.
It is a technology based on hardware designed to mark the locations of memory as non-executable.
If your processor doesn't support hardware DEP, you need to upgrade a processor that offers execution protection features.

However, you can see the control panel-> system-> Advanced tab-> Performance settings-> Data Execution Prevention tab.

By default, DEP is enabled only for essential Windows operating system programs and services. In order to protect more programs with DEP, select turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.

  • Apple iTunes will not run.

Apple iTunes will not run.  I reinstalled several times. The error message has something to do with DEP.  But I doubt that iTunes referred to system memory.  In addition, my PC has hardware DEP, no software.

Thank you.  Found the answer in the Apple community.  I had to reinstall Quicktime in order to get iTunes to run.  They had lost their association.  Everything works now.

    Vostro 420
    Windows 7 64-Bi
BIOS 1.3.0 (last update, version 2010)

    Hello:

The Vostro 420 yourself running Windows 8 when it comes out next month?

And the Vostro 420 DEP support bios? (I read Windows 8 needs a bios with the support of the DEP)

    Thank you

    Hello

The Vostro 420 has not been tested by Dell with Windows 8. However if you use Windows 7 on your system it will avoid any compatibility issues.
You can also check if hardware DEP is available on your system by performing the following steps.

How to verify that hardware DEP is working in Windows:

    1. Click Start, click run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.
    2. At the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
      WMIC OS Get DataExecutionPrevention_Available
    3. If the output is "TRUE," hardware DEP is available.

After the official launch of Windows 8, pilots cannot be available on the Dell support site. However, you can always check the site of the manufacturer for the appropriate drivers. You can also consult the following link for more information on the upgrade of Windows 8. http://Dell.to/SyrDsU

  • How to disable the Extension of physical address (EAP) in guest VM?

Recently, I moved serveral Citrix Application Server virtual machines of our ESXi environment in our new ESX environment.

Today, we had some users complain a Citrix application did not work and gave a memory error when they tried to run it.  After having looked into the problem, we found that when we discover the properties on all the virtual machines in ESX they are all PAE enabled, even if there is no/PAE switch in the boot.ini file.  I looked then the VMs remaining in ESXi and none of them indicate that they use EAP and I confirmed that the Citrix VMs in question did not EAP use when they were on ESXi.

A bit of googling indicated in other words we disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP) with the/noexecute = alwaysoff switch in the boot.ini file that would solve our problem.  So we tested which and of course, the error memory disappeared and people could use the Citrix application that they could not use before when the switch of /noexcute introduced the opt-out.

So something about the combination of ESX forcing EAP in our throat and how he plays with DEP causes this problem.

As the individual Citrix Application VM has only 1 GB of vRAM, I do not see the need for the EAP and I would like to know if there is a way to tell ESX to not use it?

    -Added after the original post-

I just tried to replace the/noexecute = optout or/noexecute = alwaysoff switch in the boot.ini file with / run and eliminates actually of EAP, but also how to disable DEP which we would prefer not to do if possible

EAP is required for the DEP.  Two-level page tables have no place for the NX bit.  See http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEdrv.mspx:

The PAE kernel can be activated automatically without the/PAE switch present in the boot entry if the system has DEP enabled (/ NOEXECUTE switch is present) or the system processor supports hardware DEP. presence of the switch/noexecute on a system with a processor that supports hardware DEP implies the/PAE switch. If the processor in the system is capable of hardware DEP and the/noexecute switch is not present in the boot entry, Windows considers / noexecute = optin by default and enables PAE mode. Data execution prevention is a big headache on my windows vista computer. Whenever I want to open my video file it stops working and windows must be restarted. Please help me with this. Is it possible to uninstall DEP and any other solution for this problem.

First of all please read this:

    Warning

Do not disable DEP or exclude (opt-out) a program, unless you have adequate protection and have problems with a known safe program that DEP won't let not executed and you can't live without it. Don't forget THAT DEP has shut down the program for a reason. It's just a bad running program, or some sort of malicious software trying to enter limit memory.

    Information

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Harmful programs can try to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) authorized the code from the locations of RAM (sharp) system reserved only for Windows and other programs. These types of attacks can affect your programs and files. If DEP notices a program on your computer using memory incorrectly, he left the program and notifies you with DEP stop error. DEP runs in software mode and hardware mode. If your processor supports the DEP (NX for AMD) and XD for Intel, then you will have hardware and software DEP. If it isn't, then Vista will use software Dep. 64-bit applications will have DEP activated all the time by default, but 32-bit applications are not and must have DEP activated manually for them. For more information, see: Windows Help and Support: Data Execution Prevention: FAQ
    Note
If a program is closed by the DEP, then make sure it is a DEP-compatible version and look for an updated version. If it's not compatible DEP, then you can uninstall the program or Disable DEP for this particular progress

If you still insist on turn off DEP, so here's the tutorial

  • Turn off DEP in hardware

I have a HP Pavilion dv9000 running Vista Home Premium SP1.  I'm trying to remove Norton Internet Security in order to install a different virus program.
Uninstall Microsoft immediately blocked and uninstalling Norton works partially before stopping with a message that it has been terminated by the DEP.
I ran the prompt for the value of nx AlwaysOff, restarted and confirmed the code SupportPolicy = 0.
Rerun the tool Norton plant yet.
Should I turn off DEP at the hardware level - this possible?
    Thanks for any advice.

    Hello

Disable, not uninstall, all the components of Norton, including all startup entries, services (use of msconfig for it) and restart. Once disabled, you should be able to uninstall components without DEP problems, because the software will be more active.

On the DV9000 series, I do not believe that the BIOS supports in all cases turn off DEP at the hardware level. Good luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Crazy" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com Windows help - www.rickrogers.org
