  • Cannot install programs on Windows 7

I had a problem with the Wild Tangent game console that came pre-installed on my Dell laptop with Windows 7 OS 64 nit. I uninstalled the app, but now when I try to re - install, the program starts to install it, but the icons are missing in the Setup Panel and I can't click on anything.

    • Manually, I deleted all the old files and run a registry clean to remove old registry keys.
    • My firewall is off, like all viruses, spyware and other programs that may interfere with the installation.
    • I scan a file system [SFC] Checker to see if there are problems also ensured that the windows service install is started.
    • I turned off the User Account Control (UAC)
    • I also recorded and saved the installer of Windows
    • I also tried to install as administrator and also tried to install it using the Windows XP settings.

I don't understand it. This program was on my computer when I got it, so I know it is compatible.

In this process, I also tried to install Trend Micro housecall program and get the same problems with this program. The installation panel will appear, but with no buttons or icons.

    Hi KatSmith0629,

You have tried all necessary measures taken to address the problem and nothing seems to work, it is possible that the problem may be with the game itself.

I suggest that you try to install the game in a user account, and if this fails, then you will need to contact the game support.

    To create a user account

one) to open user accounts, click the Start button, select Control Panel, click user accounts and family safety, and then click user accounts.

    (b) click on Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (c) click on create a new account.

    (d) type the name that you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then click create an account.

  • How can I find 'All programs' on Windows 8?

Hi there, I just bought a laptop Windows 8 and am struggling with the difference between W7 and W8.  When I right click at the start menu displays "Programs and features", but when I click I get only the uninstall a program option.  I can't open Canon Utilities (for my printer) because the control panel is not on my desk because it is on my W7 laptop, and I can't find the function of all programs.  Canon is in my Apps screen but when I click on it, even though my printer is registered, it has no option to do anything.  I would appreciate any advice - thank you.

I think you're mixing all programs on the start menu with programs in Control Panel.

In fact, both Windows 7 and 8 have the same list of "Programs and features" (the Uninstall list), it's just that Windows 8 is the first to give you a direct shortcut to get there.

Let me put it this way: Windows 8 always has the same organization "Start Menu", it's just bigger (full screen) now.  Windows 7 would show your frequent programs first, and then the Catalog under the arrow to "all programs."  Well actually, Windows 8 does the same thing: just great icons.

When you access all programs (7, left) or applications (8, right), you will get a list of all your installed programs. Windows 7 puts in a small list, Windows 8 displays the list full-screen.

Tip: in all versions of Windows, you can press on +R to open the run, run the command shell: program to explore your Start menu like a normal folder.

  • application development Toolkit and Windows 7 64-bit - unhandled exception

Quite simple - I wanted to 'install' TypeDifer.exe as the tool of comparison for '.seq' files in perforce P4V visual client for I can browse and review the differences before check-ins, etc..

I installed the https://lumen.ni.com/nicif/us/nilabstypdiftst/content.xhtml toolkit - first by a double click, then by installing as an administrator with XP SP3 compatibility selected. The package is very good in both cases, but none of the Toolbox tools will run.

I've got VS2003, 2005, 2010 installed on this PC, and when I try to run TypeDiffer.exe, I get the JIT debugger breaking in with

An unhandled exception ('System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException') occurred in TypeDiffer.exe [71276].

Other tools all give much the same results. Did I miss something? There are a couple of DLLs with the EXE, do need to be placed elsewhere to ensure that they are seen, or perhaps they will have to be registered and by the installer under Win7 64 are not?

    Grateful for any input.

We will examine that. One thing I want to mention, is that if you are looking for a different general purpose and use TestStand 2010 or higher, you should probably use the delay comes with TestStand rather under:

    C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\Shared\TestStand\FileDifferLauncher.exe

The typediffer is only for types differentiate, so it will only show you all the differences untyped in the file. The differ from 2010 can also diff type differences if you change the options to solve the conflicts of the type not automatically. Really, the only thing the delay comes with TestStand 2010 can not do that you may or may not is that he cannot merge changes from type (it may however merger without type changes and you can use it as a tool of fusion for these purposes with perforce).

    Hope this helps,
