Windows-7 computer cannot install programs - because Windows Installer is not accessible

I have a computer windows 7  It's a 64 bit HP computer.  I had problems to install programs on my computer.  It is said: the installer of windows services could not be found.  Windows install is not correctly installed.

When I check to see what version of windows I have, it says Microsoft Windows Version 6.1. 7601 too, when I check to see which version of Windows Installer I; It's shows Windows Installer 5.0 7601.  Also, I have seen that there is a Windows install 4.5 and would like to know is compatible with Windows 6.1?  If so should what download I choose?  Otherwise, I have to reinstall Windows Installer 5.0 and how do I go about?

Some will help me please!

2438651 how to solve problems that may occur when you install, uninstall, or upgrade a program on a Windows computer

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2438651

Substitute:

Unregister Windows Installer and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:

1. in the menu 'Start', click on ' execute:.»

2. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.

3. in the menu 'Start', click 'run '.

4. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec/regserver", and then press ENTER.

If this is insufficient, the I would say to install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and run that to remove the Java remains Setup files that can cause problems with your current installation.

Click Start Orb, in the box, type search: Regedit.

Highlight: HKEY_lOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/services/msiserver

Verify that the SYSTEM account has full control. If it does not, add the SYSTEM account with full control.

  • During the installation of a program, receive the error message that Windows Installer is not installed properly on Vista

I tried to install a program and I got an error message that says "Windows Installer" is not installed correctly and I need to contact the support staff.  I get also a message when I log that says steetings.ini is occupied by another program and it will not allow the sidebar to come.

Try the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to troubleshoot the problem with Windows Installer:http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml.

For the issue of the Sidebar, do a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
