Uninstall SQL

I recently installed SQL Server 2012. I can uninstall safely SQL 2008 or should I keep both?

Assuming that these are important, so no updates, keep both

Some programs may use a particular version.

Generally any update replaces an earlier version, unless the individual versions are needed, as above

    Hi team,

A few days ago I tried to uninstall SQL 2012 from my laptop that I used it no more. Even after uninstalling SQL 2012, there were some components SQL in "Programs and features" and a folder named SQL in C drive

I deleted the SQL of the C drive folder and some SQL (program and features) of my system components.

Now, there are some programs are still there in the Control Panel - programs and features.

1 Microsoft Visual Studio pre conditions English

2 Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Application time 3.0 design

3 Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for running the x 86 Application 3.0

I'm afraid that if I uninstall these my mobile functionality could be hampered.

Can I uninstall the programs mentioned above?

    Hello

Some applications like some versions of Microsoft Office applications, InfoPath and others use Visual Studio for Applications.

Visual Studio Prerequisites is used to deploy the components referenced by applications.

I recommend you don't uninstall them. They are very small and they are not known to create problems of performance or security problems.

    I hope this helps.

  • Uninstalling SQL Server Compact 3.5 for devices error 1325.Documents is not a valid short file name.

I tried to uninstall all parts of SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 v (there were 3 parts); the third part, which is

Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 for Devices - ENU

will not uninstall and I get an error message, which has in its title "Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 for Devices", (which seems to me indicate that he might be from the application itself?)

READING: "error 1325.Documents is not a valid short file name."

Is there a valid way to uninstall this, given the problem - or an another workaround?

I hope that it is not bad form to reply to my post (!), but I am pleased to announce that this Microsoft utility fixed my problem. I ran it, it looked for my system, then asked me if I wanted to uninstall or install a program, I chose to uninstall, it sought then yet once showed me a list of installed programs. I have selected SQL Server Compact 3.5 for Devices in the list. They asked me if I want to uninstall it (I think that - already done and I do not remember)-anyway, I welcomed the utility for uninstall and there was no problem. It is very useful. I don't know if the source of the error and this solution is specific to windows 7 64 bit, which is what my DELL Latitude E6530 is running, or if it is a general problem and fix. I'll never know the root cause, but at least I can go forward.

  • Uninstall SQL Developer completely clean reinstall

My 2.1 software developer SQL failed on three Windows-XP based computers. It works on other computers than also SQL Developer 2.1 installed (including a departmental server), so I'm pretty sure that the problem is some setting or parameter on three computers (two laptops and a desktop) and is not a problem of bug SQL Developer.

The failure mode is that, for these three computers only, for three specific connections (it works for all others), three connections test successfully, can develop views, procedures, links, etc., but can not extend the tables object. By using the same user ID and password, everything works perfectly on the server of the Department. On the computers of three problem, if I do not try to develop the tables, I can run SQL in the SQL worksheet. If I try to expand the tables, the connection no longer works, and the SQL worksheet generates errors like "OALL8 is in an inconsistent state" and "breach of Protocol".

I removed the software SQL Developer and searched and deleted every registry entry that included 'sql dev', 'sqldev' and the name of the database (with the exception, of course, to this DSN database).

To reinstall SQL Developer, he always finds all of my old relationships, so I know that I don't get a clean install.

Where SQL Developer does not have the login information from my previous installation?

How can I completely remove SQL Developer so that it looks like SQL Devoper has never been installed before?

    TIA,

    Extreme Farley

SQLDeveloper stores its settings in your user directory.

in Windows XP, it is located in:

    documents and settings\%USERNAME%\Application Developer\systemXXXXX\ Data\SQL

You can delete the entire folder of SQL Developer to have one really uninstall.

Mind the Application Data folder is hidden.

  • Uninstall SQL and permissions

I am trying to perform a clean reinstallation of an application that runs on a SQL platform after replacing a hard drive on a computer running Vista. I need to reinstall Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express before the reinstallation of the application, I. I'm having two problems that may be related:

    (1) canned SQL Setup program detect a previous instance of the server, even after running the tool Windows Install Clean Up and manually remove all remaining files linked SQL in the Program Files/Microsoft SQL Server, and users / (myaccount) / Local directories. There are two files I cannot delete - Microsoft SQL Server/90/Shared/sqlwriter and Microsoft SQL Server/90/Shared/sqlwvss.dll

    (2) SQL server does not always recognize me as having the approval of the administrator, even if there is that one user on my machine (with full administrative rights) and I am allowing the server administrator option when installing SQL. I manually adjusted settings permission on the two files listed above, but they do not always recognize my order.

Possible fixes or advice are appreciated.

I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 trial version on my PC running Windows Vista Ultimate, a day ago, but he placed himself completely in the disk partition (E :) that I specified. [i.e. I found some parts of the installation in my C:\program files as well as a USB as well].

    Still visible are:

  • SQL Server Express of 2014 will not remove registry entries when uninstalling

    Hello

I am responsible for the routine installation of our products in our society. We used to install SQL Server 2008 Express with our facility. We also checked the registry entries to detect if the SQL Server 2008 Express to a specific instance has been installed. When we run the uninstall for our program, we have also uninstalled auf instance. If it was the only forum wihtin SQL Server SQL Server hole has been uninstalled. This works as expected.

Now, we want to implement the 2014 of SQL Server Express. The installation is successful and everything is working properly. But when we uninstall SQL Server 2014 leaves a large number of entries in the registry. In particular, the entry for the version number:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\Microsoft\\Microsoft SQL Server\\120\\SQLServer2014\\CurrentVersion\Version

This makes it difficult to detect if SQL Server 2014 is installed on the system, because SQL Server 2008 uninstall these entries when deleted as expected. OK I can check some folders and files, if they are available, but this does not seem the right way.

Is this a bug, or are there reasons why the registry entries are not removed after uninstalling?

    Kind regards

    Christian

  • SQL 2005 update failed. error code 663.

I didn't know an answer to my previous question, which was:-my computer to stop asking me to update.  I try and it tells me that try to update sql 2005 failed.  error code 663.  This has happened for a long time.  I am a user of the computer only so don't understand not why I need SQL 2005.  Can someone give me a simple answer please.  I run windows XP media center edition version 2002 service pack 3

You don't need SQL 2005 if you know. You can simply uninstall it from Add and remove programs and uninstalling SQL windows update will not offer you the update and you will not receive an error message, but if you want SQL you have to do is to repair the installation of SQL and the error message will disappear!

  • Help - CF is no longer talk to SQL

A bug with a Microsoft update timebombed my SQL Express installation making it "expired" (even if does not expire SQL Express).  The difficulty, I found was to uninstall SQL Express and reinstall.  After the reinstallation, SQL still work, but now CF won't talk to her.  When I go to create or verify existing data sources in the CF Admin page, I get:

java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] Error establishing socket to host and port: localhost:1433. Reason: Connection refused: connect
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] Error establishing socket to host and port: localhost:1433. Reason: Connection refused: connect

Tried to install the JRun 4 Updater but that the updater does not work yet!  He asks to be pointed to the directory for JRun (which does not exist on my machine).  When I point to the directory where the exe for existing JRun, it says it's not a valid JRun directory and cancels the installation.

What is going on?  MS before I screwed on the update, everything worked great!  Roll the Update MS DOS is not an option.

    Any help is appreciated!

I suspect that you need to configure SQL Express to accept TCP/IP connections and use SQL authentication.  Both are disabled in the default installation.
