Uninstall unused programs

Is it possible to sort the list of programs in Vista by under-used / last date used as you can do it in other versions of Windows? I want to get out in addition to all that I have not used in a while and this used to be the best way to understand rather than look at each individual program and try to remember what some of them even, especially if I used them recently!

Hello Dingoespain,

Windows Vista has an option to show the Freequeency of the programs on your computer.

You can try enabling this option on your computer:

1. Click Start and type appwiz.cpl in the search box.

2 from 'programs and features', right-click on the header on the names of the programs bar and click more.

3. in the list, put a check mark next to "In use" and click OK.

4. you will have a new column that lists the programs according to the Freequeency you use them.

Thank you

You can not get rid of IE but nothing says you have to use it, either. If your computer is slow, here are some possible reasons. On a Windows machine, #2 should really be #1.

    1. computer has not been maintained - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Maintenance

    2. the computer is infected with the malware - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

    3. the disk is too full. Remove useless stuff, uninstall unused programs. Do not forget to save!
    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Backing_Up

    4. flaky third party software. Toolbars and modules are particularly guilty in this area. Uninstall toolbars (Google, Yahoo, ISP brand, etc) and look at what modules are in use in your browser (s).

    5. computer has too many unnecessary programs/processes running in the background. Manage your Startup:

For XP - How to troubleshoot using the Msconfig in Windows XP utility - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=310560
The free Autoruns program is very useful for managing your Startup - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/default.mspx

For Vista/Windows7 - Start Orb > Search box > type: msconfig and when it appears in the results area above, right-click and choose 'run as administrator '. Autoruns is also very useful.

    6. the user runs an inflated/invasive such as Norton and McAfee antivirus program. Replace it with a better program. I recommend NOD32 (commercial) or Avast (free). Avira is also good, but the free version has an unpleasant reminder screen (Google for instructions on how to disable it). The user can also run several real-time antivirus/firewall/security programs.

    7. the user has installed new programs that are processor and/or memory-intensive (Photoshop, AutoCAD, Mathmatica or similar) and does not have the power of the equipment.

8 drive fails and is in PIO Mode. It's very much slow (like being in 1985). See Hans-Georg Michna here information - http://winhlp.com/?q=node/10

In addition to the above, see also http://miekiemoes.blogspot.com/2008/02/help-my-computer-is-slow.html

Note: If the computer has always been slow, in addition to the above user may have bought a machine with a less powerful processor and not enough RAM (memory). The normal use of the computer, 512 MB to 1 GB is sufficient for XP; Vista should have a minimum of 2 GB; Windows 7 is less demanding than Vista, but the minimum of 2 GB should also be used.

    Hello

Sometimes when you uninstall programs it may be other applications of the dependent files.  Some programs will leave them behind and others will take all during the uninstallation.

Reminants of program on the disk do not DRAM, unless they were actually responsible...  (and if you can not find them on the disk, how do you know they're there?  If you see leftover registry entries, even bother with them.  "They have no effect on the PC DRAM or execution).

  • Satellite L350 - no sound after uninstalling some programs

    Hello

I just bought a Satellite L350 and I started uninstalling some programs.
Since then, I have more no sond.
I guess I uninstalled too much and I would like to know the program I have to reinstall and where I can find it.

    Thanks fo your answers!

    Hello

Why you n t use the Restore tool of the Windows system that would help you to define the operating system back to the point of time at the beginning?

I guess you deleted the sound/sound driver software and the System Restore tool should help you recover this software.

Go to start - all programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore
Then, select choose a different restore point. A choice, a restore point dialog box appears. Choose a restore point and click Next.

    Check it!

  • How do I uninstall the program "Utilities" since the Satellite A210

How can I uninstall the program "Utilities" since the Satellite A210. In Control Panel I can uninstall the program "Value Package" but not "utilities".

With the A210 I can't work with the FN keys and on a German Toshiba support website I found this information:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB0402UR0000R01DE.htm

So I'll try this installation sequence:

    -Chipset utility
    -Display driver
    -Toshiba value added package V1.2.40
-Technical support utility Flash Cards for Satellite L500 (see this thread, why I want to do):
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46135&TSTART=7
    -V1.0.25.5C Toshiba-Utilities
    and no doubt
    -Installation of V2.00.09 equipment

I hope that the FN keys will work after this installation sequence.

  • I can't uninstall a program from my laptop HP Pavillian?

Well, I want to uninstall this program Emusic Manager to my laptop but cannot. I tried like 5 times, but nothing happens. I finally use the Task Manager to click out. And Yes, I tried using programs to remove this program too. Have you ever had this problem with Emusic? And can you help me please? It is a new laptop, I just it 2 months ago so I won't have any problems with it!

If you have nothing nice to say then keep your mouth shut!

Hello Cuddleboo45. I understand that you are having problems uninstalling a specific program called emusic. Is this correct?

That emusic can be a piece of adware by Symantec, which probably explains why you are having problems removing it.  However, there are also legitimate software named Emusic, so I can't be certain of that.

I have a few suggestions to remove the software. The first is to try to remove it from safe mode. Follow these steps to enter the mode on your machine safe. Once you're in safe mode, you'll want to try to uninstall the software just as usual (from the control panel).

If this does not work you can try to use a spyware/adware removal tool to solve the problem. I recommend using either Spybot Search and Destroy or Malwarebytes. Install one of these programs (but not both!) and run it in safe mode.

Let me know if one of these solves the problem.  If these solutions do not work, I'll give you the next steps to try.  Have a great day!

Please do not let your Windows version a secret.

If you see a program on "Uninstall a program", you should be able to uninstall it without affecting other programs, with a few exceptions.  Do not uninstall the drivers unless you will not use the material. If the manufacturer included demonstration programs, those must be sure to uninstall.
If you are wondering, why not ask about specific programs here?
